Yes, Bush’s character and faith have given us the economy we enjoy today as well as victories like those in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In the old America my dad was taught my country right or wrong.
In the new America we try our best to leave America a little better than we found it. However even in the old America my Dad never thought things were perfect or thought that complaining about how bad things were was wrong.
In fact complaining was a sign that work had to be done to fix things. Only GOPers think things are perfect right now and that history should stop.

And really, they haven’t been gone very long either. Tiger and I were born not 10 years after the laws allowing it were passed. We were asked by the city to “voluntarily” leave Downtown at our earliest convenience.

I was down looking at the Des Moines river about 8 a.m.

It’s going to be a close run thing for many business. My business is just outside the 500 year floodplain. But the parking lot isn’t.

The plain is now described by the emergency managers as “BEYOND HIGH RISK”

Cedar Rapids, which apparently had little flooding in 1993 got it bad, Iowa City too.

Des Moines preventatives from the great flood of 1993 has so far helped a great deal.

But we’ll find out for sure over the evening.

Has anyone read the comments on Noonan’s column. Actually quite funny. Some think she’s hopelessly enamored with the “New America” and Obama. Slanted, so to speak!

What I don’t get is where has she been for the last eight years which have basically caused all the skepticism and such. Maybe she should ask the European what they think it will take to restore America’s reputation over there, because most of the data points to it will take the New America in the person of Barack Obama!

He’s stressed enough. Been hiding in his office for 3 days to avoid the chaos at home.

Peggy Noonan is one of Obama’s biggest fans, you would know this if you have been reading her columns for the last several months. This one is no different, she is highlighting some of the weaknesses both candidates will face but saying in the end that Obama will be the stronger candidate, and the subtext is that she likes him, even though she is a little wary.

I guess people are not allowed to have thoughtful discussions anymore.
