I spent the morning in the garden, pruning dead blooms off of bushes and plants. It was very cathartic.

The Chicago Tribune is trying to dig up dirt on Obama buying a home cheap, and that a friend of his is being pressured by the feds to lie about Obama. Thats the money part of the scandal what Jane is reporting is the sex, but how will the GOP bring it all together?

Without an unlimited budget and subpoena power I don’t think the GOP can recreate WhiteWater.

I signed the petition yesterday and also called them. Maybe with enough pressure from all us ‘kool-aid’ drinkers the NPC will cancel his event. Ha! No ‘bulletts’ or explosions necessary.

You can buy a home cheap if it’s a ‘fixer-upper’. Or if it’s in a bad neighborhood. Or if it’s a foreclosure (those happen all the time – not just now)

So….how is this a bad thing?

Not signing, and here’s why: Sinclair is a nut. It will take about five seconds for him to shit himself once the questions start flying. If we respond like Chicken Little every time some crank like Sinclair is given a microphone (and it’s going to happen – a lot), it makes us look like there’s something to hide.

I don’t disagree with you but to me this is more about the Press Club than about Sinclair. It is absurd for a group like this to host a nut case. Maybe they would like to have Charlie Manson – I hear he’s up for parole in a few years.

Yesterday I phoned and talked to a woman at the National Press Club, she said they were getting tons of calls. I said Oh you poor thing, and we chatted. She said they can’t deny him the right to speak, because that would kind of go against freedom of speech.
She said they were, however, putting info on their website that disavowed this dude. They were not sponsering him, etc.
I told her that people will not hear of the website, won’t read it, but they will go see a freak show.

Can I say that I’m very heartened to see Taylor’s name on his list of people he feels threatened by who are fighting this?

To be clear, the National Press Club is not “hosting” it; Sinclair and his backers have paid for a conference room in the building. You or I could do the same thing tomorrow if we wanted to. The press is under no obligation whatsoever to come to the event (although some will).

I WANT that guy showing the world what kind of nut he really is.

By over-reacting to this guy, we set ourselves up for more of the same. It’s attention they want, and waving our arms and fretting over this gives it to them.

I wonder if the GOP knows that attacks like this on Obama might have an effect on military recruiting? Especially if he loses the GOP might have to draft people for the Iraq war then.
After all would you serve if you were a second class citizen and GOP Lies took away both Obama’s chance to be
president and your hope to be a first class citizen?

It’s the whole Rezko thing — supposedly a “sweetheart” sale — which has been pretty thoroughly debunked. That won’t stop the smear machine, however. They just keep bringing it up.

I am a little bit surprised at the Chicago Tribune, however. They’re a right-leaning paper, but have been pretty favorable to Obama as the home-town candidate. At least vs. Hillary. Dunno about McSame. I quit taking the Tribune, because it has gotten pretty irrelevant. And the news to ad ratio is pretty awful. I get my nooz from the toobz now.
