Not CT, now?
Oh well. I guess I shouldn’t start any trouble since I won’t be able to see it through. I got up early this morning and I have to get up early tomorrow morning.
Yeah. I was kidding. I kinda assumed you were doing the play by play in the last quarter.
Heh, I didn’t start it… Nor did I mention the fact it was the biggest deficit overcome in history…! ;-)
twas silent until the win – i didn’t realize there was a game on
Missed you at dinner tonight, Gnome.
We should plan a road trip to cbl’s Texan Cafe in Hutto once Al gets NDFG settled.
OK, I don’t follow pro basketball, but is it 3-1 Celtics now?
Konking. Thanks, everyone.
You betcha…! No team has ever dug out of that deficit in the history of the Finals… *knock on wood*…! ;-)
Aloha, Loo Hoo!
g’nite loohoo
You got it Neuro:>)
I’m still stoked about the habeas 5-4 win!
I haven’t seen anything on the lake about Bobby Jindal’s magic powers. I read the other day over at TPM that he has experiencing exorcising both demons and skin cancer!
Sounds like just the person McCain needs on his ticket!
Sweet konks, Loo Hoo.
Hmm, speaking of Dixie, maybe we should listen to this next…
no political commentary intended whatsoever, just a great song

Ya but..
What a F*CKING ASSHOLE! He should be Impeached… He is the Worst of the worst and needs to be slaped down for saying such things… If he had his way Habeas Corpus would be Dead now and we would be in jail:>(
has anyone see a thursday nite news dump? i figured they would try something after getting their asses handed to them by the supremes?
Erdla gave me this bleak news this morn…
Contrary to the long-held popular belief amongst Federal Reserve economists, the declining international value of the dollar is now thought to be somehow related to rising prices in the U.S.
Hmmm…
But, Monday’s most important “dollar talk” came from Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke himself. In a speech about analyzing inflation, he provided the weightiest words on the subject, going so far as to say that the central bank will “strongly resist” any rise in inflation expectations.
Those wearing Fed decoder rings have translated this to mean, “if prices don’t stop rising, we will begin threatening not to lower interest rates four times a week instead of twice a week, and if that doesn’t work, we’ll start threatening not to lower interest rates daily.”
http://seekingalpha.com/articl…..pectations
My bold Notice that the words are threaten to raise rates in the face of rising prices. Which will not happen unless the economy takes a shock doctrine size hit.
Why well because higher rates now would kill John McCain however higher rates later after the election the GOP hopes will hurt Obama and who said the Federal Reserve was not a political office?
Yes I know higher prices for Wheat, Rice, Washington Cherries, Gas will hurt John McCain especially if prices keep rising from now until November.
But that is nothing compared to a stock market drop as credit dries up. Another Financial company falling and probably a few hedge funds the GOP hopes to postpone Doomesday until Obama is President.
Someone should ask Helicopter Ben if he serves the American People, the GOP or WallStreet first and none of this the business of America is business or the interests of all are one and the same crap.
i liked the comment (can’t remember who where) about how the supremes should be impeached for not following the constitution but national security – the 4 dissenters failed to follow their oath of office to uphold and defend the constitution.
I agree with every word you just wrote.
fuck
You’d think Scalia would know that Congress declares war.
hmm, suddenly I’m having technical difficulties. it won’t let me “reply,” and I can’t get a linking box
oh well, here’s something else, sorry suzanne, no neil this time
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlVNod_krsM
I agree…
try clearing your cache neuro
Mighty tasty chicken you served up tonight, Suz. Thanks for that.

you are quite welcome david… you might wanna check out this comment from the end of your thread
I have hit Reply twice and it isn’t working.
Haven’t looked but makes me wonder how many rats are going to jump ship tomorrow.
yet it is working for me… what browsers are ya using.. i’m on firefox
Maliki just can’t stop pursuing the Sadrists, where ever they may be…!
You would think but not that jerk… he thinks it is OK to Rule on Cheney’s crap at the same time as going on hunting trips with Darth.. conflict of interest YA THINK… I feel he should be Impeached just for that!! never mind all the other crap that comes out of his pea brain!
Firefox3 doesn’t seem to like M&C much.
pc/firefox-latest version.
Sooooooo…
Does that mean he flashes his boobs for beads, or not?
Reply works for me.
I can’t even make “tools” appear…guess I’ll go try firefox
same as what i’m using.. anyone else besides neuro and mary having problems?
Nope, it isn’t!
Yet another great one from them… I have always liked the song..
I can play the Dixie Chicken slide lick in my sleep. Hey ‘Reka, you can get the disc at CDBaby.
I’m out of the ‘net sales biz, I’ll let the pros do it now.
Little Feat is still a great band, even n their dotage.
Yep, saw that … Carla does good work.
But now it does… wierd
hey that guy
ok, david.. she’s gonna let us know when she gets that phone call.
suzanne, I just switched over to firefox, tried to reply to your 75, no dice
I had mentioned the fact Maliki might be starting a new front in this post. I asked GG if they’d heard anything about it and they hadn’t, until this morn…
no, works ok here.
Shakes fist at NSfreakinA.
Ah man, I missed the celtics talk while amusing myself at C&L. Guess that’s what I get.
YES, YES IT IS!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Disclaimer: I stopped liking Lakers after Kareem and Magic retired. Can.not.stand.divas!!!! ugh. have always loved Celtics since Red Auerbach days. OK, since Heismann days.
Also loved me some Jerry West. Golden days of Bball, baby. with the short shorts.
double crap… try a reboot and see if that works neuro
There is always Opera… I never have problems with it.. You can get it here:http://www.opera.com/
everyone turn and wave the royal wave to our nsa handlers – maybe they will return the reply button to those for whom it does not work
a work around in the mean time is just refer to the name of the comment you are replying to.. i.e, margot at 84
try webkit too!
for the geek challenged (like me) what is that?
What do you know, now I got a reply box.
I wish ET would tell Senator Stevens to stop parking his truck on the freaking toobz…
It doesn’t want to load? Or what?
Suze, glad to see you’re safe…You comin to the gig Saturday?
Totally agree. What was weird was a commenter on a Cliff thread had the same reaction as my lawyer hubby: why doesn’t Scalia just say we should shoot them (the detainees)? We are all most disgusted with this person.
Speaking of Red I got to meet him before they took down the Garden. I was working for Xerox and he had one of the early desktop copiers in his office …He was really cool and spent some time talking basketball to me while I repaired his copier… An experience I will not forget…
This happens to me too (the reply and link buttons not working). then they do. the internet tribbles like to toy with me.
maybe McBush put him up to it
McBush hates war, you know…
Jeebus K. Christ on a Stick, are those nsa doods still visiting. How tedious it must be for them.
Oh wow. That’s so cool. There is a book about him that’s in paperback now. I highly recommend it. let me look up the title.
I realized today that if the JFK/RMN TV debates were a watershed, then this internet election will be another. McCain is absolutely clueless in the medium in a much worse way than RMN was clueless about television. I wonder how historians will debate this aspect, and for how long will it be referenced?
They have nothing better to DO!!
woohoo – happy dance
am gonna walk token the cutest dog in the world – he had to stay inside today because of the smoke but now that it doesn’t smell like a fireplace outside he needs to save a redwood. i’ll be right back and TLM is around if ya need anything. (don’t forget, he likes pecans and dark chocolate)
When I try to use reply or show text my browser is trying to load and just keeps trying. Part of the info is getting through.
Not only are my reply and link button only working occasionally, the new comments button has vanished. I wait a bit, hit refresh, and there are 15 new comments.
nightly builds of apple’s safari. Has more fixes than safari but also, once a while, introduces some instability.
Nahant,
They could go home to their families. They do have families don’t they?
How about some dark chocolate pecan turtles?
Goes great with strong coffee…

Let Me Tell You a Story: A Lifetime in the Game by Red Auerbach and John Feinstein.
It’s basically the story of how Feinstein was invited into Red’s “Tuesday group” and Red’s stories that he told. It’s a nice read.
Has anyone/everyone tried a hard refresh for this?
My Safari, WebKit, Firefox, Netscape and Opera are all fine.
Okay, sugar-shock!
stalls firefox3 until i can close the tab.
The U.S. dollar is strengthening after a sort of shock-and-awe campaign by the U.S. government Monday. As he left for Europe, President Bush called for a stronger dollar in the wake of soaring energy prices. Then Treasury Secretary Paulson said in an interview with CNBC that he would “never” rule out currency intervention, and New York Fed President Tim Geithner said the central bank is “watching” the dollar.
All of this concern over the international value of the dollar is a result of, well, the declining international value of the dollar.
http://seekingalpha.com/articl…..pectations
Why bring up the falling Dollar now? Well first of all the Bush effect if Bush talks about the economy
even ifmake that Especially if he trys to talk up the economy the economy takes a hit often the DOW drops that very day, the Bush effect is not 100%.The second reason is that the President and various White House and Fed heads think that they have Greenspan’s ability to talk up or down the markets by threatening a rate increase/decrease they don’t have this cred.
Notice that Bush said this when he was in Europe and that they were not lowering their interests rates. Which if they did it would help strengthen the Dollar.
Worldwide there are food and oil riots caused by higher prices countries that can like China, Japan and the EU are going to feel even more pressure to raise rates to boost their money’s ability to buy oil.
They will be doing this at a time when we want cheap money to make our debts cheaper. But not to cheap so we can afford to buy oil in a sense we are balanced on a point swaying waiting to fall.
Will we save the banks with cheap money or will they fail as we raise interest rates to raise the value of the Dollar?
Will oil and food price inflation collapse the rest of our economy?
Can the GOP put off DoomesDay until after Obama is elected and repeat the Carter 70’s I think Carter got a raw deal cleaning up a mess and then Reagan took all the credit.
Or will we balance between high oil and saving the banks perfectly…given Bush’s previous performance on the economy and Helicopter Ben’s lack of spine I’m not sure which doom scenario happens first or if they all happen at the same time.
But in good news if the rest of the world thinks Obama can change things then they will buy soon when prices are low.
nathan, you see the performance graph?

I haven’t seen anything on the lake about Bobby Jindal’s magic powers. I read the other day over at TPM that he has experiencing exorcising both demons and skin cancer!
Sounds like just the person McCain needs on his ticket!
As what his Healthcare expert?
am back – did i miss anything (laughing)
I just remembered I am out of coffee. I hate that! I will have to roll myself over to the grocery store early in the morning for some Peets. Last time I did that I almost collided with someone on getting in line to pay. I said please excuse me I haven’t had my coffee yet. The lady said, ”OMG. This is a true emergency. Please do go ahead of me.” Wonder if I will see her tomorrow.
Watch it be spun so hard you won’t recognize it.
I think McC may just try to exude the scent of Old Spice and pipe tobacco, and people who are looking for that Big Daddy figure will vote for him. I mean, what else has he got?
Those kind of cool things were one of the perks while I was a field engineer for Xerox… I got to meet a lot of interesting people and visit many interesting facilities… From Nuclear Subs to unbelievable research centers (like Xerox PARC) and more than I can remember these days…
Well, a good day firepups.
A win for habeas corpus and a win for the celtics. some goons held at bay.
good job. see you tomorrow.
Sounds good I will have to check that one out:>) Thanks dosido:>)

OMG! Candidate Rev Dr Marino’s Ph.D university (Ashland) issued an MD degree to a golden retriever, who listed bum-sniffing as qualifying experience…

Is Europe giggling about the Bush collapse yet?
I just order online from Peets… but one time I ordered 7 lbs including some KONA that were roasted the day before and mistakenly sent it to my little sister in the Boston Area:>) I still haven’t gotten that shipment from her…grrr

Macintosh cred shattered…
Hey VG!
Mukasey: Guantanamo military trials to proceed:

They are ignoring the latest Supreme Court Ruling.
lol :) I do wish that lynx or w3m worked. The site render fine but it seems the login script doesn’t browser snif them two so can’t comment
zipping smart mouth and giving ya an appropriately sympathetic look
“…just a god-damned piece of paper.”
Maybe they’ll invite Bush next winter.
What happened to AK and NDFG?
Macintosh aren’t those the apples they grow in Maine??
Joe Isuzu has more Cred than Bush notice they didn’t raise their interest rates. However they are much politer than the Saudi’s who pointed out that this was the second time Bush came begging to their King for more oil and got sent home empty handed.
Which is twice as rude when you think about all the lives and money that we are spending to make the world a safer place for
al Quidaer Saudia Arabia. You would think the Saudi’s could be bothered to pay their Mercenaries in the war for oil.
nite Tw3k
Another word for road apple.
Actually they’re not ignoring the ruling, the Supremes left it up in the air for those already charged… See EW’s or Balkinization for the nitty-gritty details…!
g’nite tw3k
The Saudis don’t pay for anything they don’t want to.
Can’t wait to see how they handle their failing fortunes as green energy comes to the forefront. It may take years but it will happen.
related to road pizza??
That creates a problem. Constitutional crisis?
What? How can an illegal law apply to anyone?
Another one.
nite!
EW alludes to it a bit…
hm, i’m sensing a pattern here. I said nite to dosido! I should sleep but am still too caffeinated.
happy not leaving tw3k (laughing)
Heh, that’s why I love Aloha, so much, it has dual meanings…! ;-)
fine, i can take hint, *sniff*
:)
well, I restarted my computer, and on my first try I got a reply box…
I forgot I got this Email from CREDO today on the FISA mess:
don’t you dare leave, young man
(there, that feel better)
Yes, I have been here today. I lurk a lot, due to supplying an addicte nation. Thank you fdl, for providing the healing waters as a salve to a wounded nation. This is just a drive-buy post, as I am in Elk City, Oklahoma, en route to Pampa, TX to load, then on to Ouray UT to deliver.
Just another plea and shameless blogwhoring attempt to de-throne James Inhofe, the most dangerous Senator in Washington. We have a solid progressive alternative in Andrew Rice, but he will need a boatload of money just for name recognition.
Inhofe hates the troops, hates the environment and queers and, well, he is just a big old wad of hate that votes no on everything, except endless war.
Click on my name for the latest on Inhofe (it’s the post with the big middle finger) and help me get the word out. Support Andrew.
Thank you and good night.
woohoo!
clicking and g’nite ofg
Something like this…
Once in a while you have to reboot… clears a lot of tmp files up which if left will cause you ISSUES!

What per cent is your FSC these days?
They are The Unitary Executive. They can do–or ignore–anything they want. So?

Howdy, Pups!
Looks like the party’s still kinda rockin’ around here!
I’m just passing through to say hello and share my good news of the year:
I GOT A JOB!!!1!!!1!1!!!!
I start Monday. It’s a contract position, through an agency, and might only run 6 months, but I’m back in the #!$!#$@$ game, baby! And in the one part of the bio-pharma biz that’s shown much growth in the past few years: QC/QA. I’m telling all my friends how I’m joining The Document Cult. I’m going to learn to luuuuuuuurve paperwork if it kills me.
So…fellow Waiting for a Job to Show Up Groupies: take heart, it can happen. I wish there was an employment equivalent of the Bride’s bouquet I could toss your way. Guess we’ll have to settle for good vibes and best wishes.
OK, I’m fading fast here. Goodnight all you fab firepup friends.
FunnyHusseinDiva
(Rachael Maddow says the commenters on her blog have started giving themselves “Hussein” as a middle name. Hope she won’t mind if I jump on the bandwagon.)
OK, now to see if I can embed a link
suzanne, if you really like neil…
woohoo!!! such good news funny d
you did a fine forking job at both picking and embedding
Way to go Diva!
FunnyDiva, I’m so glad for you! Congratulations.

Any numbers yet on the National Press Club petition?
dayam
*sigh* maybe his job will be outsourced and he will be laid off
His desk is next to the microwave in the mess.
We need more and more pups to rise to the occasion and help congresscritters we don’t want freaking changes to the FISA laws… the way they were written works just fine! And of course NO IMMUNITY for the Telcos:>(
yeah, kinda hard to resist. pretty laid back version, imho.
Looks like Larry Sinclair’s troubles are getting bigger and bigger, if this proves to be true. For those not too familiar with Sinclair’s past, La Rye Avila is one of his aliases, the one he apparently used while running drugs for the Mexican Mafia. Who he then ripped off. Again, don’t know how much of that’s true, but that’s the tale. Makes that warrant for his arrest in Colorado seem like small potatoes.
Excellent news, FD! ;-)
Congrats Diva, and good luck with the J-O-B.
Sen. John McCain was asked in an interview yesterday when U.S. forces should begin withdrawing from Iraq. “That’s not too important,” McCain responded dismissively. “What’s important is the casualties in Iraq,” he continued, referring to the more than 4,000 American troops killed since the invasion. While the Republican nominee has said he would maintain the U.S. occupation of Iraq for 100 years if necessary, he now seeks to soothe a war-weary American public by pledging to keep U.S. casualties at a minimum if he becomes commander-in-chief.
In an interview with David Letterman last April, McCain conceded that the Iraqi death toll was “in the hundreds of thousands.” In fact, according to a survey by the well-regarded British polling agency, Opinion Research Business, more than 1 million Iraqi civilians have been killed since the occupation began, a figure significantly higher than previously reported.

i thought that was a parody site based on their important disclaimer on the right
“ahem….that’s my stapler you have there”
looks like it!
Good Luck FHD
w00t, congrats! and lol @ FunnyHusseinDiva
suzanne, I thought I was picking the version where neil was smokin’ on the electric guitar. guess I picked the wrong one. oh well.
here’s one I haven’t heard him do…
It’s not a parody site, they just don’t take themselves too seriously. Found the arrest warrant stuff there originally as well.
updated fire map with evacuated areas and road closures.
at bobfest :) my very first post here was neil’s rocking in the free world
ah, to be a fly on that wall, lol
The casualty list from the civil war, Pol Pot’s consolidation of power, and the later intervention by Vietnam is disputed. Different estimates vary from 750,000 to over two million. Credible Western and Eastern sources[5] put the death toll inflicted by the Khmer Rouge at 1.6 million. A specific source, such as a figure of 3 million deaths between 1975 and 1979, was given by the People’s Republic of Kampuchea. François Ponchaud suggested 2.3 million—although this includes hundreds of thousands who died prior to the CPK takeover and has been disputed;[6] the Yale Cambodian Genocide Project[1] estimates 1.7 million; Amnesty International estimated 1.4 million; and the United States Department of State, 1.2 million. Khieu Samphan and Pol Pot, who could be expected to give underestimations, cited figures of 1 million and 800,000, respectively.[citation needed]

Great news, FD!
But can someone tell me what teh H stands for in FHD?
The national debt service is so high now due to tax cuts and the GNP (recession) slow down that things are coming undone. As consumables rise in a fractal spiral less disposanle income create more job losses the Fed Policy bandaid has lost it juice. The war is draining the dollar dry.
The republican business pln for our economy is broke, which is free market Friedman policy and Obama has to go back to Keynesian/Galbraith policy. That mean in plain english instead of giving tax reciepts to the rich oil companies they have to makr thos TRANSFER payments to the people. Not the poor people who are always screwed but the worker bees to make worj viable. They have squeezed us so hard their is no more room left. Free market has reached it’s limit and they are riding us hard by billions in bailout for the gambling banks and free ride for the war machine.
Scalia is a darth puppet and should be sanctioned for his conflict with war monger.
“ahem….that’s my
staplerrubberstamp you have there”hey all, in and out. hi! and g’nite… see y’all later …
Nevermind.

LOL
waving hi bye at ya lee5
The killings, motivated by ethnic, political and financial factors, continued throughout Amin’s eight-year reign.[26] The exact number of people killed is unknown. The International Commission of Jurists estimated the death toll at no fewer than 80,000 and more likely around 300,000. An estimate compiled by exile organizations with the help of Amnesty International puts the number killed at 500,000.[8] Among the most prominent people killed were Benedicto Kiwanuka, the former prime minister and later chief justice; Janani Luwum, the Anglican archbishop; Joseph Mubiru, the former governor of the Central Bank; Frank Kalimuzo, the vice chancellor of Makerere University; Byron Kawadwa, a prominent playwright; and two of Amin’s own cabinet ministers, Erinayo Wilson Oryema and Charles Oboth Ofumbi.[30]

Just when is the killing Genocide. Just how many people does Bush/McCain have to kill before its genocide? Or does it matter more who does the killing?
Joe-Bama’s hometown paper has a great editorial:

Michael C. Desch holds the Robert M. Gates Chair in Intelligence and National Security Decision-Making at Texas A&M University.
seems like a pretty Establishment guy.
Like his Senate mentor, Joe Lieberman, Obama has staked out his Likudnik positions in the strongest possible terms.
This obviously, does not represent ‘Change’ from Cheney’s policies.

Citizen CTuttle:
Hey Brother CT, has there been a Raven sighting lately? I been gone fishin’ and am takin’ the whole family up north for a week on Saturday and I was tryin’ ta get some com set up with a few vets to propose a postin’ on vets experience with return from service and reintegration and the politics of resocialization and recovery for vets returnin’ from combat tours. The idea wasn’t to share war stories but to get some a these well intentioned, liberal anti-war folks offa their holier than thou high horses and bring ‘em into the real world that awaits returnin’ vets and the greater society of which we all share space.
I think with the escalating firefights lately includin’ the really off the wall attacks from Mark from Ireland a couple a weeks ago the FDL community needs to spend some time with each other or this issue is gunna hit us here like it did after 1975.
So has anyone heard from Raven lately and what about some a the other ‘Nam vets …they haven’t been driven out have they?
KEEP THE FAITH, WE ARE ALL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE NIGHTMARE OF WAR NO ONE ESCAPES!!!
Whoa, that was a quick *poof*!
I agree with you 100%
Aloha!
Wow! what an honor. that beats all the [z-words] in the world.
I believe I have posted many favorable comments to you since then.
thanks have calmed down now the primaries are over norske. i’m not seeing anywhere near the infighting that was around a month ago. seems to have calmed down nicely.
Tha is question that has been running through my mind.
That covers the bases.
That was a sad nite for me, my Warriors lost and RBG cracked the whip on !!! A travesty indeed…!
Actually, Norske it’s been awhile since I’ve seen Raven in these parts…!
punaise- any report from punaise jr as to how UCSC is being impacted by the fire?
Joining late in thread. Wanted to share a nicely worded, powerful passage from a Mary Lyon on Huffpo June 11th FWIW:

That’s amazing. AGAG was a bloody partner at Vinson Elkins.
Guess the Bush magic in Texas aint so potent anymore — or his loyalty to Bush was a one way street.
He is talking about MarkfromIreland blaming all or most of the troops on the ground for war crimes. That position ticks of the Vets. I agree with the Vets on this but Mark is very committed to the cause so I think we keep him however this is a problem I feel for higher management.
I second that emotion.
Thanks for the coffee Suz. I have been on the couch with Naomi Klien (shock doctrine) and here perverted psychiatrixt that invented the playbook for CIA torture. It is the new american way… liberty has morphed to Hard Hearted Hannah. ALL Latins know we torture and kill em tease em and thrill em with elctric shock to the the genitals and their is no discrimination women first and children. It is happening at this instant and 24/7 That is us. Like you and me are responsible because we are not stopping them. And rightly that is how the victim populations feel.
We have become reprehensible monsters supporting governments throughout the planet that torture people and animals. Care to comment?
Participation in The Coalition of the Willing of European Union Member States have dropped to 29% from a high of 55%.
Seems like it’d make more sense to pander to the EU.

That is a question I want McCain to answer to bad Dosido is gone I he/she wanted some questions to ask McCain.
Good work Norske.
Impeach!
Thanks. She calls Pelosi a Neville Chamberlain.
I saw a production of Hamlet last night, and I couldn’t get over thinking, geeeez, the Dem Party is so much like Hamlet!!!
I don’t blame Mark for the accusations, and, it bothered me greatly, but, I don’t hold it against him either… Our Maladministration is responsible for putting them in that predicament…
Well if anything the Iraq war is keeping America o busy to mess up South America right now so that is a plus.
Hard to reconcile if all voices aren’t heard.
I didn’t have to go to Nam but I did serve during that era 66-69. I know from my friends what they went through and our Vets are beig let down again by this country. Their benefits are a freaking shame and we all should be screaming for better treatment for those who serve in our name! The New GI bill must be put into law and all the new rules put in place to save money at the expense of Vets need to be reversed. I mean a single Vet making more than $28k has to pay for his medical or if he/she gets more than $11k in pension money you have to pay! What does that say about our country except that this country doesn’t care and would like to just see you die so they can save money… These numbers are from the latest published figures I picked up at the VA yesterday… Republican Bastards… I would like to see them get the same treatment from their cushy medical program… Sorry to rant but Veterans right are near and dear to me!!
good nite all
but we must always remember that collaborators, like the Vichy govt in Nazi occupied France, are the Least Worst! Compared to the Nazis, that is.
And, according to the terms of the lease the (D) Party seems to have on anyone to the left of Joe Lieberman, one is forever obliged to vote for and support the Least Worst, forever and ever, amen.
inconvenient truths like the obvious complicity and collusion with the crimes of the Bush/Cheney regime amp up the cognitive dissonance a little bit, but this is easily absorbed.
More and better collaborators, goes the call!
I’ll ask him if his screeners let me through.
I’m no vet but I’m with you, nahant.
nite.
Aloha, neuro!
Um, if that link is true, and the mexican mafia DOES donate to Obama, the troubles will be spread far and wide…
Good Night Neuro… Sleep well:>)
You think you can get into see McCain doesn’t he have a screening process for weapons and loyalty like Bush does at all his events?
Are you a Master of Disguise?
Now there is a different interpretation of Hamlet.
Somehow Hamlet’s advice to the players doesn’t fit with impression of the Dems.
I haven’t heard anything more about the press club petition…
It is hard to get more people involved with the current FISA fiasco since the media refuses to acknowledge it is a “real” issue.
1,872 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Suzanne:
First off, thanx for the post, ya got a great gig goin’ here late nite and the music…well, the music tanight the Little Feet with Bonnie and the folks is my kinda stuff (but most good music is my kinda stuff).
Secondly, I have been tryin fer a couple a weeks ta get a few of the ‘Nam vets to put tagether a post on returnin’ vets and reintegration and recovery. The conflicts like the episode with MarkfromIreland are gunnas get more frequent and are gunna end up jest like what happened in the late ’70’s and it will kill the progressive movement and, frankly, drive me away from this community if somethin is not done to try and educate folks around here who have absolutely no concept of what vets have gone thru or will be goin thru and the imperative for us as a human community to try and accept our responsibility for each other and the problems this terrible war is bringin’ home on us.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, EVERYONE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WAR…NOBODY GETS AWAY WITH THEIR SOUL INTACT!!
Norske, you can send me email and I’m willing to post it at Main and Central, have ya seen it? Anyways, tuttlehiloATmsnDotcom… If you’re interested!
g’nite neuro
You need to use commas more. I skip you something cause it takes me too long to read the comment.
Yeah! I hope the Blue America ads against Carney and FISA breaks through comcast’s censorship!
You read your Mail???? Oh my what is Happening CT:>)
I don’t deny that some troops are guilty but yeah Bush placed them in hell and they are doing their best to get by I blame Bush I think yes some of the troops are guilty. But things like Abu Graid were ordered by the Pentagon only its the troops on the ground getting the blame and doing the time.
Kissenger might be a war criminal in our circles but we don’t teach at Harvard. I’m sure a lot of troops would rather have gone to Harvard than war.
I check it from time to time… ;-)
Well good night all you fine pups see ya all tomorrow night late as usual:>)
You try the facebook mail?
Oh, I so agree. And so fear that blank stare from those who have stayed so intentionally uninvolved. We need to step up. Each in whatever way we can….and all as community.
I’ll try but Grammar is not my friend or spelling:(
let me think on this norske and see what i can come up with
Citizen nahant:
I served from ‘66-’69 and all of what you posted is comin’ home to us today in spadz. But there is somethin’ far more destructive that we are doomed to replay from the experience of Vietnam if we don’t come together to educate each other before the moral purists and intellectual snobs like markfromireland contaminate the community and drive wedges between people that will only serve to continue the madness.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNUITION, THE WAR IS NOT TELEVISED IT’S IN YOUR LIVINGROOM!!
I love the show intervention… I mean I don’t love it… but I see what it is showing about how the system “enables” the destructiveness of the addict personality and gets locked into a reactive not proactive mode… and gets into this codependent mode… like inertia. They get into the “thrall” of the horrifying crazymaking … and I think it is a kind of hypnosis.
You can’t win with the addict’s crazymaking. You have to stop playing.
I am alarmed at my progressive friends who had a cynical acceptance that Kucinich’s action was noteworthy but an exercise in futility not about triggering serious activism about impeachment. I think of there were a rallying of pro-impeachment it would impact.
If we are not an active part of the solution we are all part of the deadweight of the problem. That old quote about when good people do nothing… that is when evil prevails.
My system is going glacially.. hope this response shows up.
g’nite nahant
Curious that Australia is maintaining an embassy in Iraq.
I agree, the highest Abu Ghraib went was a LTC…! But, the truth is slowly but surely seeping out…!
Same here but commas help!
That’s putting the blame where it should be. She gave the Bushco machine the greem light for war, torture, stealing the national treasury and genocide. Thanks for sharing that cogent set of facts.
Aloha, nahant!
Thanx Brother CT, but I gotta get in contact with some a the other folks jest ta get a proposal tagether for the “executive club”…but I will keep ya informed. I ain’t gunna be driven outta here without tryin’ ta solve the problem that those that think they are immune don’t even know they got.
Well, I might not be around for Late nite this weekend, I’m headed to my folks place… I shall bid ya’ll a fond adieu! Aloha Oe!!!
I call Qwest every couple of months in an attempt to get out from under Comcasts thumb…
But comcast is still the ONLY high speed provider in my area.
Bastards
Hamlet going nuts out of frustration and powerlessness.
Tell me more about the players stuff… your point?
nite tuttle
Drop me an email…! Ta Ta…!
Beyond the Australian personnel
aloha ct
We are active in Columbia. I would bet that there are plenty of CIA covert actions in South and Central America. The “Drug War” is really a political war. The Dope trade all over the world (heroin) has been enhanced by our presence in Afghanistan.
Really to say anything good will come out of Iraq war will get me started.
Thw Monroe Docrine is supposed to put a reign on military intervention on this continent.
moral purists and intellectual snobs like markfromireland contaminate the community and drive wedges between people that will only serve to continue the madness.
I’m sure that this is McCain’s plan/hopes for the election that the silent majority will rise up disgusted at the Left who insult the troops. Not that we are but McCain will take comments like Mark’s and beat us over the head with it.
Then he will claim that we are all like that, and than John will talk about his son who went to Iraq and seal the deal.
I don’t think it will work but I do think that is what McCain will do and it will hurt the Antiwar Movement and the Bloggers.
I think the Dems are so beaten down by so many frustrating years of Republican rule, that they are still thinking like they are small and helpless. Like people who have PTSD and are challenged go back into primal child mode… helpless and overwhelmed…
There is a story about how elephants as babies are tethered to a stump with a rope.. and as they get bigger and stronger, they still ASSUME that the rope on the stump can contain them, even though if they tried, their power could easily help them yank out the stump and escape.
Congress is “stumped” by a learned helplessness… IMHO…. FWIW
I don’t like this new dup comment thing :’(
Aloha, CTut!
I suck with verizon :/
you getting duplicate comments?
Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador have all elected people to the Left of what Bush wanted I don’t defend Bush at all but I don’t think this would have happened if Bush hadn’t been distracted in Iraq.
Saw that – don’t know what to make of it. Any thoughts?
Nite Pups!
g’nite things
I’d argue the powerlessness point but I’m much too sleepy to enter into that.
It is a great monologue tho.
Good analysis…shall we enlighten them to the fact:
1. They are the majority
2. Obama won the nomination witjout K Street bucks an Blue states are growing in number
3. We The People gave shown in poll after poll we wnat change yesterday
I guess congress lives in a bubble like MaxwellSmart cone of silence.
uh, I don’t think you quite know mark from Ireland’s history, dude.
I caught williams briefly on the tube tonight working on the afgan is a narcostate.
vg – he was quoting norske in that first paragraph.. took me a few to figure that out
uh, sorry, reread- I would say that to you, Norske.
suz- yes- that should have been for Norske.
Good to have a blanced view point well taken sleep well and come back soon I get a lot out of your comments. No criticism intended. Good night. I just hate the torture policy. To much stick not enough carrot we have become drovers instead of leaders.
yeah, i said “Aloha!” too many times in this thread. I usually trigger it with “lol :)” but really, how many “lol :)” should i put in a thread ;)
Can we have a grief summary of that?
I see you have been around FDL for quite some time.
It is a great monologue! I remember doing that one in high school.
I think Congress is tiptoeing along underestimating the depth of disgust of so many in the country so hungry for strong and moral leadership. This lack of trust for the citizens paying attention and lack of moral leadership in guiding the ones who aren’t … because of their own political self-protectiveness … and past slippery slope colluding with lobbyists who generously bribed both sides of the aisle for win/win influence peddling.
Why can’t congress take advantage of the massive anger and frustration the country feels right now. Why are they lost in gamesmanship and not statesmanship?
The Repubs are still using their obscene distortion of what patriotism… but Dems are so skittish about this… and watching the media so much in fear of losing votes… and I think the time has come for them to take their eyes off the polls and honor decency and morality.
nothing beyond the redeployment
l8rs
Oh yes I do, dudette, and that’s what makes his holier than thou moral purity so destructive and so dangerous…whatever his needs are to keep himself elevated above the depravity he sees around him, he has no business deeflectin’ all his agnger on to those who have also experienced it…more importantly, he is usin’ vets as a target for his own needs and frustrations.
norske, how do you see this breach being healed?
Cool! My Father made me memorize it.
Love my country, love mt people but killing Iraqis as an insentive to get college is disgusting.
Our rtroops are given a Natioanl Defense ribbon to defend our landnot the fucjing corporate interest…ala “We are protecting OUR interests”. The corporate stock holders are using our national defense apparatus. These companies while licenced here are international. 270 military bases that support these corporation ib not our abtionak interests and publically funded corporate armies. Jeebus forking Chriost on a crutch. How much bukkshit am I suoosed to swallow. Instead of defending us they are posing a threat to us.
I have no probleme critcizing the Military, their leadership and their rank and file when they commit Crimes against humanity. There is a morality that is not civilian exclusive.
I was tryin ta get a few of the vets tagether to put a proposal before Hardin Smith and Hamsher for a front page post , a collaborative post about the returnin vet experience and the politics of reintegration…see Vally Girl’s response above and you ken get a look at how important it is to get thru to people like her who don’t have a clue and hopefully never will before the markfromireland’s poison the well and drive lethal daggers thru the heart of our community.
folks like raven? who else ya have in mind?
Norske- thanks for responding- and, thank you for your comment- now I understand the full import of your comment. and, agreed that he has no business deflecting his anger on those who have experienced the horror. Now I get where your “holier than thou” remark came from re mfi.
Well said I agree with you obviously. No politician wants to get take to big a lead and get caught off of base and tagged out. I am a fan of your thinking rational, realistic and fair.
needed to vent tonight. not a late, late energy. sorry to presume. good night.
not a problem, libbyliberal.. not at all ranting is always welcome at late late nite…
Case in point: Steny Hoyer
Citizen Valley Girl:
You are impressive, thanks for respondin’ I was afraid my limited communication skills were leavin some meanin’ behind. You’re a peach.
Norske- obviously I missed some of mfi’s recent comments, and was reading with my mind as to what he was about before. I do have a clue as to what returning vets experience, tho not in the direct way that you do. I would certainly like to see a series of posts at FDL- talking about Iraqi vets, and also VietNam vets. I’m of the VietNam generation, and I know that it sometimes takes years for problems to reach the max. And, Iraqi vets are gonna be in for much worse, as far as I can imagine from my limited knowledge.
norske- thanks. And, I typed comment at 1:14 before I saw this at 1:12.
norske, send me a fleshed out run down of your idea at ten67x at gmail dot com and let me chew on it
You are incredible Sister, and what you said is what I’m tryin ta keep from happenin’ at least in our community here.
pups, time for me to do more of that forking cleaning that i gotta do
thanks for hanging with me tonight – g’nite all
g’nite suz!
I will try and put sumpthin tagether…I’m at work tanite will try and do it tomoorow before I take the wife and grandkids ta the lake for a week
Suz.. hope the fires are out. usually smoke will be caused by smoldering material so when the smoke is gone should be safe as the fuel has beeb consumed. The wind died down. i developed acute bronchitis from the smoke so it is good that the best pup in Bear Creek did not get out. His little lungs would be challenged.
This will be a tough fire season for firefighters and a lot of deployment away from home. Stay alert. I hope your community is well informed.
thanks norske… enjoy the grankids and the lake if i don’t see ya before then
g’nite smgumby
*poofing*
So there is a little sweetness under that gruff Norske exterior after all!
On that happy note, i think the coffee has worn off, g’night all!
we stayed low and inside today bigbrother – yes, our little mountain community is kept very well informed and we look out for each other :)
poofing for realisies
Suzaanne’s cabin: the cleanest little place in the Santa Cruz mountains. Sleep good and good hunting.
Nite Suz. Sleep well.
nite suzanne, tw3k
VG, In your seminar did they talk about your school’s inclusiveness initiatives in the late 60s?
Little Feat from a June, 1977, Midnight Special performing Dixie Chicken with special guests Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, and Jesse Winchester.
Excellent!!
