McSame seems caught in a time warp of his own imagination, driven there perhaps by spending five and a half years in a brutal POW camp instead of successfully planning and flying missions. Imagine the missions he flew in his head while being tortured and starved; imagine the payback he still wants to exact. McSame still acts the stereotypical drunken Naval Aviator for whom women are targets of opportunity, who, once penetrated, become merely collateral damage.

The idea that there might be a consequences to his pattern of behavior — disease, pregnancy, emotional attachment or the debility from being unable to have one — McSame seems unable to compute. Besides, legislating women’s rights or health issues would be against his self-interest. Divorces would be more expensive, he might have to salute a woman of higher rank and ability, and he might have to pay his own way. McSame would be an ornery, more radical and more violent version of Shrub, but with the same clueless concern for consequences and how to pay for or avoid them.

omg, hugh.

I had no idea it was nation-wide (nor does the CA press, apparently).

Once again, thank you for your work.

And now I wonder what the definition of “tranqilizer” is for the pruposes of 132.

The class of meds known as anti-psychotics” were also known as “major tranquilizers”.

Who cares? Well, this class of meds - along with the “lithium class” [one member] and anticonvulsants (anti-seizure drugs) - are also used to help patients with bipolar disorder.

The anti-psychotics are also used to relieve severe depression (when not repsonding to anti-depressants alone) and extremely severe anxiety disorders (not responsive to other modalities).

Take home message: if the national program to monitor “tranquilizers” is construed to include anti-psychotics (drugs with efectively no abuse potential), it will serve as a way to identify anyone with psychotic disorder (including schizophrenia), a very large proportion of those with Bipolar I, and many with severe depression/anxiety.

Who cares?

Well, the above dx are used to deny medical insurance. Because the same firms that own the insurance databanks are often part of megacorps with “financial service” tentacles, the data can be (and has) been used to deny lines of credit/mortgages.

For the above reason, anyone I know with the means to seek treatment for the above disorders on a “self-pay” basis does so. Many I knew self-paid for their rx in cash at elite pharmacies - being careful to avoid any RX for “scheduled” (abusable) rx in their disease management.

Opening up the tracking to include non-abusable RX (including the “major tranquilizers”/anti-psychotic class - or even the antidepressants) allows tracking of patients with mood disorders (including depression and bipolar).

Though I see the national program just targets controlled substances, as it implemented state-by-state I wonder if any state will include “non-controlled” meds commonly used in psychiatry?

Yep, I’m pretty clear on the point you are making.
I got it.
And, also that the S word is Yiddish and the C word is just plain mean, intolerable and speaks to where the heart of the speaker is at.
Back to the garden for me now.

It’s my understanding that this payment is part pension and part disability - and are legitimate payments/benefits that he has earned through his military service.

Unwise to make this a big issue, I think - likely to backfire.

I’m with you Fern.

But considering how much cash money his current spouse has; it would be nice if he donated that disability payment to a veterans nonprofit or simply renounced his claim on it because he does not need it. He’s set for life with his Senate benefits so as it is. But asshat or not, he suffered mightily in our name and we do not benefit harping on this, imo.

btw does anyone know just what Representatives and Senators are entitled to after a term or two in office? The lifetime primo health insurance benefit is just one example of the perks of office that put our legislators out of touch with the rest of us regular Americans.

thanks demi–point is, there are things that display character, using that word toward a female kinda says it all. he later said, i didn’t call you a ’c’, i said you were acting like one……when i heard that, i knew the other things i let slide were bigger than i thought.

anyone who doesn’t understand what the ’c’ word really is, and uses it and excuses it, is lacking in a lot of things that have to do with character and that has to do with thier intent on how they treat others…..

i think his dismissal of her and barking obscenities at his wife is all anyone needs to hear to see what resides inside of him, the rest of his actions are simply the result of his character coming to the surface.

The problem’s we’re having with “schm*ck” are related to the fact that it’s a loan word from Yiddish into English. Per Rosten’s Joys of Yiddish, the word is very offensive in Yiddish, definitely not for use in polite conversation. It’s a high-order insult, and probably is on a level with “c*nt”.

English is a different matter. The word’s offensiveness has been softened up, in fact, many people who use the word in english are not aware that it is a reference to the penis.

BC — learned a lot of Yiddish from being UCLA.

I’m assuming that the California program is part of this:

132. National All Schedules Prescription Electronic Reporting Act of 2005. This sets up a state by state but nationally compatible data base of prescribed controlled substances available to many agencies. The substances include not only painkillers taken for more than a couple days but also tranquillizers and sleeping pills.

McCain is in a whole world of hurt now.

No more free pass, and the spotlight on all the flip-flopping is gonna get blinding.

Which will cause him to blow his top at Sen. Obama, or some reporter that will dare to point out his inconsistencies.

He’s got no real base of support (other than his rib-loving press contingent) and true conservatives don’t like him.

He’s gonna lose independents, and, from the post at the top, won’t be able to count on women, either.

All he’s got is the “Hey kids, get the hell off my lawn!” vote, and they’re not a big enough bloc to save him.
