Aloha, ES!
Good evening, CT!
First quarter in the jukebox.
OK, second…
Impeachment.
Nice acoustic guitar, what’s he singing aobut ES?
trying to find the house payment for this month. i am soooooooo tired of living this way.
Eclectic much? Wow.
Hey Eureka!
It’s a chant, impeachment.. the new namyarengyekyo…)
(((mary)))
Myself, I want to be a lady of leisure.
I think Joe Cocker sang “You Can Leisure Hat On”
I thought so. (mwah!)
i hear ya girlfriend… sending ya money thoughts
I spent a week poking around the net for more info on this fellow.. and everything I think I know could only be portrayed at best as rumor. Everyone who knows anything doesn’t speak English very well.
I just liked his voice and spirit..
If only…!
Ha! Youtube wouldn’t let me have my first choice, it was XXX rated.
2nd best?
The out of tune guitar kinda adds to the impromptu quality of the performance
Tis part of what I love about YouTube..) You should hear me and my amigos on our three stringed guitars!

I never tire of Bruddah Iz…! ;-)

BBC lost a reporter in Afghanistan today..
And RAND has a new report.. (attack Pakistan forever?)
Digg!
dugg and thanks
Oh.. thanks, but I went for Life On Mars tonight..)
That one got me, they showed his ashes being scattered in the surf near the end. *snifrfrlrfle*
Hi Chris, that lifted my spirits!
Think tank? Oh yeah, guys that drive tanks who pay people to think.
See? I have been paying attention.
THanks ES!
Hi Chris, Suz, everyone.
Hi All!
Very late to the party. Spent most of the evening reading all the posts. Is there a troll present this week?
not that i’m aware of
Dugg Neuro… keep doing your part to help the Lake!! Come on Pups digging is good for you!
Am about to walk away from the entire situation. What did Einstein say?
Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting the same results is just f—ing stupid.
That’s good to know, when I see “Do not feed” I hold my breath.
To answer the question – the economy is eating at me bad tonight. I know a lot of people have it worse, but I lived (out of work) for two years in the dot-com bust…I’m gonna be 54 in a couple weeks, if my job goes away, I may NEVER work in anything but retail again.
That’s not an appealing prospect.
didja see that on tonight’s threads or was it earlier today?
Earlier today, perhaps on Cliff’s thread about Obama.
I feel ya, Guy. I’d rather not work with the general public.
I’m headed for bed. Hope I can sleep without pain and not wake up with muscle spasms at 4 am! Need to head into the office for a few hours tomorrow, and it would be better to do that well-rested.
G’nite all!
Heh I hear you been futile for since 9-21-2001… two interviews since then. age is the problem they can hire someone fresh out of school for cheaper than they would have to pay me!!
I did for years, as a newspaper fotog, but clearly that’s not a vital career path, nor one I want to get back into.
Dealing with the public is not my strong suit. Maybe I could work in a Vet’s office. I like helping animals.
day shift is different than the nites around here – i prefer the nights where we can let our hair down and de-stress from the day – i find it necessary to be able to pick up the fight again in the morning
pain free from muscle spams tonight and tomorrow tex
‘nite, Betsy. Spaz-free dream wishes for you.
I think I’d rather be bitten by pets than people.
Nahant, I’m sorry to hear that. You must have a great support system. Had I not had my beloved partner, I would be dead, for sure. I won’t live on the street. I keep thinking we should buy a travel trailer in case we need a roof and have no other. It’d almost certainly be old, and require constant maintenance, but it’d be a roof, and warm in the winter.
thanks y’all
That is exactly why I love you all here Late Nite. My work day is so stressful, not to mention my life. But I must admit that I do peek during the day, and someone named lukasiak (god help me now) was a complete ass.
LIved in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) in a Sandhurst officer’s mess for three months in 1974. It is awful situation and their has been political discrimination since Ian Smith was in charge. I saw the Springbok play the All Black and some tough field hockey and Polo matches
Funny thing about then the Rhodesian stock market crashed. I was hitchhiking through East Africa and went North into Zambia and East across the “Hell Run” to Zambia, then East to Tanzania where I was arrested ( captured as a spy) Go eaten by mosquitoes for a week and escorteded by guard to a court by train where I was fined. I hitched hiked to Dar Es Salam (an Arab gave me a ride at the orders of the local police). After a month I managed a ticket on a cargo C5 carrying Indian Ugandan expatriots to Poramgor. I chanted my mantra all the 7 days across the Indian ocean. I took a train to Delhi but the engine caught fire and burned. While I was sleeping in the bush the new engine arrived. The adventure continued on and on. My Yoga practice served me well. We live in a bubble and have no clue what is really going on. I must say I have led an adventureous life with no support. It is amazing how much Americans have to have and how little most third worlders have. I started in Uganda to Kenya I saw the amputee war vets in the streets of Nairobi begging. I went out to the tea plantations and stayed with peace corps folks who drank a lot of beer with their European counterparts. “Habari Santa Sana Bwana Muzuri sana.” I met frustrated UN Refugee personell unable to deliver the goods to the poor get wrapped up in local life. Almost like the Plame/Wilson stories. The paranoia ws palpable at the US Embassies. That would be a very hard job now working in embassies. very, very difficult and GWB has made it much worse. Even them Somalia was off limits. The women in the Utube grought that all back after 36 years. I even ran into geolist working fo big oil prospecting in a jeep. Got interegated in a Chinese railroad work camp but they let me go. Don’t see a lot of American hitch hikers in Zambia that are on orange juice fasts.
now now, christine e – we don’t flame commenters here…
I could live happily ever after without that schmuck. I hear he used to be relevant, but these days, he just chaps my ass.
(oops)
wow!
sorry…
dayam crossing tubes
tis a fine line sometimes between describing someone’s behavior and flaming… i don’t always get it right myself
Now, now pups.
Let us be the example, not the exceptions.
hey lurk… was wondering what it was gonna take to draw you out tonight… i’m plum outta chocolate pecan cookies.
Mea culpa runneth over.
I am lucky also… My lady pays most of the bills but I do contribute by advertisings for computer repairs!
Bigbrother, it sounds like you have lead a fascinating life. And you are right, it’s amazing how much we think we need to get by and how little it actually takes.
Good evening, Suzanne.
An Orange Popsicle would do the trick.
I’ve got mango-yoghurt pops in the freezer, want one? Made ‘em myself!
how about an orange creamsicle straight from the freezer i’ve also got the rootbeer float creamsicles, ice cream sandwiches, and a buttload of hagendaz and b&j ice creams.
i really do know better than to shop for ice cream when i’m hot.
(pssst! Thanks) Oh, Hi everyone!
Slide it over.
Oops – Ethernet port a bit crowded!
Thanks much!
This is the first admission of CIA (base and bombing) in the Pakistan press I have read this year..
Nite Betsy, sleep well.
When the Shiner beer distributorship was just getting started here, they shared a warehouse with Hagendasz. Used to go over there to watch my crazy ex old man the drunk paint beer trucks. Longnecks in the vending machine for a dime and breakers of ice cream in the freezer. Life was good.
Yep, we’re lucky. I wish you the best. My meds are kicking in, maybe now I can sleep. I’m gonna try. G’night all.
i’m currently enjoying the willie nelson country peach… yummy and perfect fro a finally cooling off nite… tis a very comfy 74 inside with all the doors and windows open
Organic, all natural. Toobz are getting sticky, tho.
nite that guy. best of luck
Hey ES! What’s on my mind tonite? African music- well I went off on a youtube tear trying to find some Gambian music- spent a summer there. This one is from Senegal, tho, and just plain brilliant imho.

G’luck Guy.
Wow That was a first for me. What a pure voice and great spirit IZ!
Are the peaches from Fredericksberg?
g’nite that guy… still grooving to that cd… forking rocks :)
Oh, I think we will struggle by! :)
It’s hot in Ohio. (News flash, Ohio is hot in summer.:=/)
The ice cream truck doesn’t come to our street anymore, although I think I hear little tinkling melodies every afternoon around 4-5pm.
Our young friend who was homeless for a while found a job on a farm, a good job. They pay him well, provide bunk quarters, food, etc.
G”night ThatGuy…. hope things work out for you and yours!
oh that sucks and that is such great good news…
Sweet! Thanks, VG.
Really? Cool!
How about Kirsty MacColl?
i dunno.. i just put the carton back in the fridge and am thinking i may bake some cinnamon rolls tonight.. i’ve got dough on its second rise
There must be 6 or 8 ice cream trucks every day in my hood. I like the little carts with the tinkly bells. The trucks have that digital crap that drives me nuts.
From ice cream to baking? I thought about making Tollhouse cookies tomorrow, after I turn the AC down to, like, 69.
ES- listened to it about 5 times so far- and it is just wonderful. ty for sending me off on the African music YouTube tear! We miss so much in this world!
Dictate some of that into a tape recorder, that’s really interesting.
My only foreign travel, such as it was, was on a train from Juarez to Mexico City and back, in 1968. Really vivid memories to this day of vast deserts, a little boy at a train station selling white powder, high mountains and children in the streets. Chicle, chicle.
This housing shit is just awful. Even if you don’t have a lot of medical bills. Housing shouldn’t be for speculation it should be a home.
I am sorry for you. Like sympathetic. I got a call from a man today who’s sister and husband with three kids were losing their housing. He was on my website/ I told him some options he was trying to help them. Millions od Americans are homeless 10s of millions one paycheck away.
Hang in there and keep networking.
Just can’t get “Tres Lounge” out of my head now.
the cure for an ear worm is to think of another ear worm
Yes we do.. I love it when I find little unknown gems such as you shared tonight.
ES- you made me do it! ;)
Hey ! The Kewl Kidz are still up … we got a severe thunderstorm that knocked out teh toobz …
The digital truck plays this.
(((Petro!)))
Never thought I would see the day I would give my original firedog teacher an A! *s*
((((( WDD )))))
The good news is, I don’t have to water my lawn for a few days.
The bad news is, if this continues, I might have to build an Arc … *g*
if the tubes are wiped out – how are you connecting?
petro
celli
Roof still intact?
Had that prob last summer, tomatoes made it into August! This year we’re down 5 inches for the month of May and it’s too hot for the maters to set fruit.
Thanks. The house did really provide money for us when we were both sick twice. If we had not had it who knows what would have happened. The part of my family that could have helped was struck by Katrina at about the same time. Then we lost our biggest client. They were purchased by a big Mexican dairy company.
On the upside I am making a considerable amount of art for the first time in a long time. A couple of months ago I got my old self back. These stretches of liveliness last for a long time. I figure I have been saving up for this one for a while.
webb was great on tds
Sorry … past tense … came back on just now and the storm has passed. Rolling thunder felt like it was coming through my roof.
Newt, I’ll know about my roof tomorrow. Thankfully no hail or tornadoes … had warnings for both all evening.
Jon had him in stitches, esp. with that shot at Cheney …
((((( mary )))))
yeah, its an easy job cracked me up
VG do you know what he is singing about? Sound skilled nice instumental. I heard some West African Rock bands when I was in East Africa thought the west seemed more progressive. Culturally developed and financially secure. Their art, music, fabric and housing.
Wonder which tribe in Kenya Obama’s dad is from?
At farmer’s market I ran into an engineer that retired fri=om the city of Chicago said he won’t vote for Obama. Said Obama’s church while doing much good preached hatred against whites that was commom knowledge so why did he not know about that? Thought he was lying. Many of these folks in Illinois?
(((mary)))
That’s good that you are getting to use your talent!
I’ve been out of work for a couple months now. Starting to think about what luxuries I can do without. Internet not being one of them. Yet.
ES! So! It’s about handing off the torch!
And wow, thank you so much for getting African music on my mind.
I’ve been doing a bit more googling, and turns out this man is really quite a figure in West African music.

Sweet dreams, Suz.
G’nite Suz … I’m off to bed as well … G’nite all !
I don’t know what I would do without you all. Ya keep me grounded. Like a wire.
G’Night Suz… pleasant dreams….hey you missed that spot again!!
Love it.. Note to self.. next time in NYC, find this fellow!
Believe me when I tell you.. it’s mutual.
no, unfortunately I don’t know what he is singing about. Senegal and The Gambia have many different “tribes” each with their own languages. These tribes (or what ever the correct word is) were split when the French took over Senegal, and the Brits took over The Gambia. It would take a much more trained ear than mine to even take a stab at that one- so, I just don’t know as to the language. But, music brilliance is what I recognized.
(mwah!)
Kirsty goes bom de bom de la Luna. Nice collage lotsa info people bein people Mambo? Easy goin sorta latin Girls just want to have fun. I like it. Used to teack for Arthur Murray studios and the latin music was a big turn on. What country is that?

G’Night good pups been great hanging with ya…. Go DennisK get the Bushco Impeached soon so he can’t be selling them pardons for his retirement:>(
I think the influence is Cubano. Alas, she died an untimely death in a boating accident.
Arthur Murray, huh?
Nighters, nahant.
I think I’m heading out too, I want to get up before it hits 90.
nite petro, nahant
I take pictures in Norcal at a house where someone is a stealth installation artist. He has arranged groupings of the strangest things through out his yard. He has the most magnificent pyramid of old teevees surrounded by rusting dolls houses in his backyard. Here is a pic of one of his windows. I thought it was funny since I was trying to take photos of his house without being rude or obvious.
Hey Ahnald – I got your stimulus package right here!
From the NewsBox:
Ha! Boy oh boy.. that brought back nervous memories..) I think my user name was “southpaw” at that time.
Let them buy cakes!
I like how the glass is liquid.

Ok, back to bed.
You’re kidding right? I mean, I am so totally out of the current conversation- what is this south paw thing? Talking baseball?
k, never mind ES- nite all!
Funny the 68 olympics. A ladt fiend and I were traveling in a popup van to Puerto Vallarta. We wenr from Denver to SF visited with some of my SF friends and south to visit some of her skydiver friends in SC. She flew home to NY for Christmas I drove on down the Baja and met up in Mexico with her then to TYepic and Guadalahara (wonderful, wonderful market) Met Ken Kesey’s widow in a town in central Mexico. I goota say the Mexican Middle class live the good life. A Doctor. Had a boat a Norweigan hull put of Marina del Ray (Conrete) outfitted very nicely and we sailed to Yalapa (the little village in the jungle a ways South in the bay of Donavan fame (Surfacing Submarine). I went up in the crows nest and watched popoises play onder the stern and a huge shark following safely from a distance That is where the whales birth and the big turttles can be seen floating and sunning themselves at sea. The bio diversity is awesome. Night of the Iguana was filed there before the big airport and highway. We took up residence in PV. There was a storm and we surfed the waves while the grapefruit sized rocks rolled up and down the beach…the foam was so deep you had to spring off of the bottom to catch air. Just sayin don’t drink the Kesey koolaid it gets wild. Gringo Gulch. Out at Puna de Meida, the Northern end of the Bay you can catch a wave for a mile (I was a learner) the good surfers surfed the big wave at the point and the bugs feasted on us. A guy had a small plane and took us up we saw the country and he did some stalls. All fun.
Some steenky cabrone with the John McCain campaign is using liberal blogger’s love of media fact-checking in order to spread McCain’s own talking points.
It’s kinda cute, although in a deeply twisted manner, eh?
so.
el gato, you are not the usual breed of cat. You’re a skilled disinformation deconstructor. Al da Spook salutes you as one professional to another.
Teach all day dance all night ho money or food but lot of music and dancin. Could do worse
I thought the world was my oyster. Read Anthony Adverse and was impressed. Grandad had national Geographics and I was hooked on the earth.
The Neocons don’t share they hog up and then sell it. I call it gentrification. You want to go some where you pay the corporation. The corporation wants to own everything and everybody and you are their slave. Fuck them. It’s a beautiful world and we can all enjoy it and all the other people, animals and things in it. Lots of good music and people.
Try a garlic sandwich grain bread with tomatoes, chopped garlic with cruched peppers. Spice up your life live a little. You get only so many orbits around the sun then your dust.
NDFG,
Gracias, in case the other response did not come through.
Hasta luego, perritos del fuego.
Eureka’s a leftist.
