Media Matters brought to my attention — because I can’t watch FOX News — the ridiculous E.D.Hill, a newsreader who teased an upcoming segment with a "body language expert" with this idiocy:
"A fist bump? A pound? A terrorist fist jab? … We’ll show you some interesting body communication and find out what it really says."
So, when African-American spouses bump their fists together (dap) when one has just won his party’s Presidential nomination, FOX calls it a "terrorist fist jab?" This is probably only the start of this meme, a soft roll-out if you will, since E.D.Hill never again mentioned the word "terrorist" when she came back from the break to interview the body language expert. They spoke briefly about the Obamas, and then went on to discuss how incredibly kewl our Preznit is — awesome, even — for contextualizing the Air Force Academy cadet’s super-meaningful moment with a chest bump at the podium.
Got that?
Preznit Bush: awesome super-kewl cadet chest-bumper
Obama: terrorist
I suppose I understand why FOX news viewers believe that Saddam Hussein was personally involved in the 9/11 terror attacks on our country, that weapons of mass destruction have been found in Iraq, and that Barack Obama is a terrorist, as is Michelle Obama.
Their televisions tell them so.

Teddy zed!
dayam, teddy, i thought that headline said fist job – dayam, i need to put on my glasses and get my mind outta the gutter
hello teddy
oh crap, i got so befuddled i forgot:
boing boing back one-and-a-half somersaults, tuck position, no splash (’natch – except for on CT and his fellow bulgarian)
g’evening pups
Obama hugged Michelle, too. I wonder what that means – inquiring minds want to know!
Aloha, Suz and Teddy!
… tee hee hee …
((( Teddy )))
Word to your Mother, Edie.
Oh, I take it back – I don’t want to end up on a watch-list.
Evening, Teddy!
Hey Suz!
Pssfft, where’s the dang towel, Ma Cheri…?
Hmmmmm.
Hi Suz, nice dive !
Nice zed, CT!
Actually that preznitual chest bumping thingee was a lot more terrifying to me than a little love dap. I mean we have s president a 60 year old man with the mentality of a college frat boy???? I think I will crawl back into my cave and stay there until January.
Great dive, Suzanne.
How fuddy duddy are these people ?
Brushing the shoulders and fist jabs were cool way back when I was … um … cool …
Teddy Forgot to say nice post. So glad you brought all this kewl stuff to our attention. Thanks.
Congratulations Buddy !
look to your bulgarian buddy
FOX calls it a “terrorist fist jab?
Oh fer chrissakes.
Desperation in the air over at SuxNews?
Hi Teddy.
FFFFFFFFFFing slimeball media.
Twain, I am sure we will see every breath he takes deconstructed for terrorism by FOX news. Did you see this photo of him riding his terror-cycle today?
Hell it is what half of my students do and this is the whitest place on earth (well except upper New England, North Dakota, and Wyoming).
I feel embarassed now, I didn’t realize Siun had cited me in her post…! I was so late to the post I only skimmed it… *turning bright shades of red*
I deny writing this post so I could re-use the photo of that Air Force cadet’s sweet butt.
And Barak responded to Michelle’s offer of a fist bump just right, and then he patted her back as she walked away … and it was so natural. Jeez, my ex never gave me that kind of acknowlegment. Respectful. Nice.
The only people who watch Fox News are already so brain dead that there is no hope for em anyway- so Fox is practically results free.
David Shuster got hung out to dry for his “pimping” comment.
Let’s see what punishment awaits E.D. Hill for her outrageous statement.
Or does ‘pimping’ outweigh ‘terrorist’ on the journalistic screw-up penalty scale?
Well given that repressed homoerotic display with the preznit, you might even have a chance there, Teddy boy.
*crickets*
unless you have your sites set on the shrub
Well, Faux Spew is ‘Fair and Balanced’, right… Right? ;-)
I loved Barack and Michelle doing that. Then he patted her butt! It was great. Did anyone else see that?
Watertiger called it “dignitude”
I think he actually patted her lower back in a really appropriate and respectful and loving (you and me, babe) way.
from the clip:
“Tell me about this fist-bump, which is what everyone is writing about. Is that some sort of a signal that young people get”?
Wondering if there’s an ex-Saturday Night Live writer feeding her these lines, and secretly laughing his ass off….
Great psot, Teddy!
Here’s my one fingered fist jab to Dr Goebbels’ imitators in FOX.
I’m all over ‘dignitude’ —- could have used some of that in my earlier life, for sure!
I agree with Loo Hoo, I thought it was a pat on the fanny… I do it to my better half, affectionately, of course…
Right in the small of her back. Lucky that!
The right wing has highly paid professional wordsmiths cranking out propaganda for them at tax-writeoff think tanks. The left has us!
Teach it to me, and I’ll do it, too!
yay us!
The “body language expert” is rather an idiot, herself. She wallows around talking about Obama, but really hits her stride when discussing The Preznit:
It’s pretty clear she was brought on to discuss Teh Preznit, since she was sent the pictures, but that E.D. wanted to use the “terror” angle to set up the body language conversation.
I don’t think what the Preznit was doing was body language, per se. I think it was recruiting a new JimmyJeff.
I watched – twice – and was charmed that he patted her lower back and NOT her butt. So much more respectful to the wonderful woman she is. No sexist, I own you, overtones. I thought it was just perfect and loving. I’ll go look for a tape. I wouldn’t have liked it if he’d patted her butt. Inappropriate. But I don’t think he did.
brain bleach at each entrance and exit to the lake in addition to one gallon personal sized jugs at each power station…
hmm – dial-up precludes direct instruction, but the gesture involves holding the back of the hand outward (palm facing in), extending the relevant arm, and curling over (towards the palm) the thumb and three fingers while keeping the middle finger fully extended. Hope this helps!
Naomi Klein says think tanks are where people who make tanks pay people to think.
Sure he did. Just like the crew of the ship was responsible for the “Mission Accomplished” banner.
These people are pathologically unable to take responsibility for anything.
Alright, I’ll give it to you…small of the back.
The line terrorist fist jab is beyond the pale when referring to a candidate for President of The United States. That the story that followed (the incredulous remark) was benign, provides no excuse for that bobblehead to have used that line. Massive call-ins and letters of protest need occur. Fox has crossed the line.
ding ding ding ding!
Too funny!
somebody send the Fux Snooze DiFi and Kay Bailey Hutt doin’ the dap, C&L has the link…
Why on Earth would they take responsibility when NOT taking responsibility has been enabled so completely?
Like asking a duck not to quack.
yes.
Evening all. Been away from the lake for a bit. Hot as hell in my neck of the woods. Close to midnight and it’s all the way down to 83!
KO had some comediannne on a short while back doing her interpretation of body language. It was OK, not great. Better material for the TDS crew.
Cookies for Dr Kirk, and whoever else wants em.
Why … what’s wrong with slapping a woman on the butt ? /s
And then there were the female cadets from Tailhook days too!
Oy.
Thanks for the link. Yep, the rights will use anything to demean Obama and his family. But, hey, he and she were wonderful. She, for sure, didn’t ask for this, but she has grown into it. He treats he with ultimate respect and that is a model for all of us.
newt- oh, nice vid from hidnuser!
At least Difi did repudiate the utter BS that Hutchinson was doling out about the tax cuts…! ;-)
Hi, Reverend, haven’t seen you around Late Nite in a while.
Massive call-ins and letters of protest need occur. Fox has crossed the line.
Aw – fuck ‘em.
They’re gonna say what they’re paid to say no matter what.
In the meantime, Fox will never darken my teevee screen.
Of course, there *are* always the advertisers who might find interesting the extent to which the Fox content is keeping people from seeing the commercials they paid for…
hahahahahaha
i gotta hand it to ya tex, ya have the best pantry
Patting, Petro, patting…! *g*
What was KO doing on tonight? Countdown? I thught it was only five days a week.
mmm (?) …cookies…
you nailed it, TexBetsy
ding!
And for those of us with more refined taste …. http://images.google.com/image…..38;ndsp=20
Are those ladyfingers?
name change? Coming out?
I din’t know CT was Bulgarian….
EPU’d from another thread, but I don’t know if anyone had seen this…
“According to the May 1, 2008 CCC inventory report there are only 24.1 million bushels of wheat in inventory, so after this sale there will be only 2.7 million bushels of wheat left the entire CCC inventory,” warned Matlack. “Our concern is not that we are using the remainder of our strategic grain reserves for humanitarian relief. AAM fully supports the action and all humanitarian food relief. Our concern is that the U.S. has nothing else in our emergency food pantry. There is no cheese, no butter, no dry milk powder, no grains or anything else left in reserve. The only thing left in the entire CCC inventory will be 2.7 million bushels of wheat which is about enough wheat to make ½ of a loaf of bread for each of the 300 million people in America.”
http://www.tristateobserver.co…..;sid=10121
no, the show with the body language “expert” was a couple of weeks ago.
i’ve never seen finger food quite like that before (laughing)
Dood, We aren’t worried about what’s on your TV. You’re cool. It’s the rest of the world we worry about.
he confessed
I think the Rev meant “a while ago,” as in days, not minutes or hours. As far as I know, Keith wasn’t on tonight. But didn’t he have Sunday nites on NBC for a while? What happened to that experiment, I wonder?
Nor, did I…! ;-)
Only football players get to slap on the butt.
Yes…and Kerry also calling bullpucky on Lindsey Graham this a.m. Surrogates and spokespeople toughening up. Ready to go….
Maybe those massive call-ins and letters should go to the Murdock daughter who supports Obama and the media elsewhere a la KO. Ailes is deaf to criticism… he has an agenda to maintain. [see also, Nixonland].
Ah, so! Oops!
Thanks for your medical advice. I’ll practice on everyone who offends me. Back to you later.
Where there’s death, there’s hope.
I think it’s the way he was raised. He’s been brought up in the gentlemanly ways. He was really respectful with Hillary at their debate too. He helped pull out her chair when they’d been sitting. It upset some people, but I thought it was classy.
Who is this bobblehead, anyway? How did she get her job? What’s her story? Maybe like the producer from O’Reilly who tried to blindside Moyers she ought to get a taste of her own medicine, over and over and over and….
I think that was the first lesson my sisters taught me about dating … never touch a girl’s butt … and I never forgot, therefore I never got a purse in the jowls … *g*
So I think it’s time to go back and look at the West Wing episodes when Santos was running for preznit and see if there are any good things to learn there.
It would seem that the game is now on. It’s gonna be an interesting summer.
30 Days, with Morgan Spurlock — coal mining for 30 days in WVA. Wow, I’m thinking about Oilfieldguy, and his diaries of mountain top removal. FX cable.
All natural, 100% organic, and noninvasive. May cause severe, unpleasant side effects applied indiscriminately in the wrong context.
Kerry did OK this morning. But we need surrogates who don’t start every conversation with an expression from Middle-English, as Kerry did once again today.
Yep, to this day if I forget to hold chairs, doors, etc. I get “THE LQQK” from Mom …
Now Tex is offering us terrorist cookies.
Sheesh.
Yup, I hosted Book Salon last Sunday and thought it respectful to be :myself:
Lordy. Not good.
Oh, I’ll just smile sweetly and say, “I’m new around here.” Works for me. And I NEVER confront road rage….not worth the risk. I’m savvy.
stress position?
Somehow I don’t think that when Kerry ascends to the seat of the Sr. Senator from MA he will quite fill the role that has been filled so well over the last 40 years. No lion or firebrand he.
*yawn* … what a weekend, I gotta say “Hi” to my pillow …
G’nite all !
Let’s be really honest – he’s pathetic.
aha. I knew there was a good reason. So are there nuptial plans?
he said something about being related to the bulgarian judge a couple nights ago…
It’s called civility — and we could all do with more of it. Hell, I’m ‘mature’ but I will certainly hold a door for an ‘elder’ —- that’s just basic kindness. Why is our culture having so much trouble with that?
I did a google search for the phrase “terrorist fist jab”. All references I found were to E.D. Hill’s teaser. Also interesting that Rolling Stone had a story on this, then dropped it.
Big shoes.
g’nite pet
Night Petro.
Aloha, Petro!
How did she get her job?
Did you happen to notice her legs?
What’s her story?
Well, I could make one up, but I think it’d be more late-late material…
Let’s just say that his best performances are behind him—way behind, like when he sat in front of the congressional committees when he came back from Nam.
Say goodnight to your pillow from us too. *G*
Well, at least his seat his safe for another six years, after that idiot GOP Ogon-whatever failed to get 10,000 signatures to appear on the ballot. Now that was funny, especially reading everything wonderful Ensign had to say about their super-duper recruit.
nite, Petro!
You’re funny! Lord knows, we could do with some more of that.
Work your way through college writing for the Penthouse Forum?
yee-hah, the Celts win 108-102!
I think Kerry is great. But he does have himself a little extra helping of way too long making speeches in the Senate.
I get around with crutches, canes or a wheelchair and am APPALLED at the number of people who don’t think to hold the door open.
I really wanted to like him when he was the nominee but I didn’t. He made me so angry when he wouldn’t fight. He didn’t have the right to campaign the way he did. He owed it to his party and the country to fight for us.
No spine – strikes me as a rich man who is in politics because he has to occupy his time somehow.
Question to you all— can I assume that there will be big blog warms over the fact that McSame is taking $58 K/year from the taxpayers (in addition to his congressional pay) because he’s so disabled from his war service that he can’t work? Aravosis hit it today. It’s way to good a story to not get lots and lots of press.
We are waiting to see.
I think I need to propose again once it’s legal. And now the LATimes ran an article saying that the hater amendment may make all marriage illegal in California!
lets save sports talk for late late nite – teddy prefers his threads to be sports free
good enough for me.
yup—and the brother of one of the pilots that went down in 9/11. Great job Willard did in building the MA Rethug. party, huh?
Shocking, isn’t it?! What’s with all this conservative Christianity junk? Honor, etc. And what’s wrong with basic manners? I’m so easy…. but, still, I’d appreciate if teens didn’t do all fuckety while I’m walking my grandkid. You know.
Yes’m!
that would really be something, wouldn’t it? It should make for an interesting campaign at the very least.
Let’s start Digging for Teddy!
Oh no, it was that poorly written…? ;-)
Work your way through college writing for the Penthouse Forum?
they said I wasn’t “realistic” enough. Wankers.
dugg and thanks neuro – was wondering where you were :)
Let’s hear more about this…..fully explained and highlighted.
I’m not sure discussing McCain’s service won’t backfire. Military disability isn’t like civilian (SSDI) disability — apparently, return-to-work isn’t a disqualifier.
I don’t trust Aravosis’ judgment on what works with Americans. I think we should steer clear of this, personally.
Did we see the medical forms for that? Sounds like total disability..
Dearie, have fun!
my work here is done….
Yep. Nothing to be gained there, and very possibly dangerous to the campaign.
He was going there, but he caught himself.
I thought the same thing, but several replays on cable shows he ended up on her back.
The whole exchange was cute, though.
It isn’t so much the disability angle that is so bothersome. It’s the fact that he’s collecting it while he’s married to a a multi-millionaire and voting against extra benefits for GIs serving now.
It is so wrong on so many levels.
Excellent. What does Aravosis mean by this?
News to me.
The theocrats are trying to push through an initiative that would declare that all persons have a right to life and defining a person as beginning at conception. This is a classic monumentally stupid and ill conceived initiative which, in addition to criminalizing miscarriages, could well ban the death penalty, which all these “pro-lifers” absolutely love.
And what’s wrong with basic manners?
You’ve obviously never met my mother. If she didn’t write the book on manners, she’s sure as heck read it a few times.
Try sending a male into her house who’s wearing a hat – that’ll get ya cuffed. Or having both elbows on the table while eating, or…. (not enough time here)
My niece was here at the lake this morning, mentioned her age, mentioned she was showing grandma around the blog, and STILL had to read comments like this: http://firedoglake.com/2008/06…..nt-1485784
Part of a 10+ minute movie quote fest.
Teddy, was the hate amendment so poorly written that it could nullify all marriages conducted in CA…?
I thought the same thing, but several replays on cable shows he ended up on her back.
Moving target.
Read this. All the way through.
Yes, stupid. But, that won’t stop them.
No. It’s collecting 58,000 for full disability while denying VA benefits and funds for PTSD counseling.
More to learn. One of my friends went to William & Mary on full scholarship because her dad went down in WWII. Are today’s half-orphans going to have the same choices? Is this (non-declared) war going to yield the benefits to the left-behind that real wars did? If McCain is getting full disability – as unable to work – well, what are the damaged young men and women from this invasion qualifying for? I don’t know how to research this stuff, but I don’t think it is unimportant.
Military generally works on a point system (or they did during Viet Nam). Each specific injury is given so many points and then they are added up to give the total disability. It is actually possible to be more than 100% disabled under this system. A buddy of mine was 120% disabled and generally still fully functional.
That would violate religious freedom. Not all religions believe that life begins at conception. In fact, even the Catholics didn’t “believe” it until the mid 1800’s. It’s going to be hard to pass constitutional muster—unless those a*holes appoint more judges.
Most are unable to qualify for the 30% that would allow them to receive medical care beyond discharge.
There are many G-rated blogs (I’m sure), but this isn’t one of them.
the time to have issued objections was then and not now tex.
Absolutely. That’s the point.
I just got back from the NV Obama primary victory party. Very nice. It was packed. Couple of peeps were from “Republicans for Obama.”
Will that be retroactive?
I’m just wondering.
It costs a lot to get divorced. I’m wondering if I could some money back.
And, I wouldn’t marry someone who wants to look at pix of someone butt chest bumping the Big G. But, that’s just me.
that’s a story that’s been floating out there somewhere. I don’t know if it has been fully vetted. Until it is, it isn’t a story we want to go with.
Damn. I found their fist bump unspeakably charming. True affection and companionship. Mark that one as a major win. Regardless of what the pundits say, everyone watching envies that level of affection and support with their mate.
fine.
“life begins at conception” is not the salient question.
that angle works for me: not challenging McCain’s disability (I don’t), but challenging his “pull up the drawbridge” stance on veterans’ benefits after his own are assured….
Are they going to give tax deductions for miscarriages? I don’t think so.
Charming is the right word.
And a vote-getter, too.
McCain needs to invent his own “colloquial greeting,” but I will not suggest one.
Damn! I knew there had to be something like that, but never researched it. He’s toast. All their base are belong to us.
I suggest reading some of the comments on that Aravosis post – sounds like it is part pension and part disability.
Which I actually have no issue with.
Unless you think there should be means tests for all pensions and disability payments?
The hypocrisy is rather galling though – what’s good enough for him should be good enough for Iraq vets etc….
like I said, it is so wrong on so many levels.
The mind boggles – blegh
Very interesting, thanks.
I want to move up my Medicare eligibility date by 9 months, given that I’m 62+ and now medically uninsured. Will that fly?
Asked and answered.
Therein is the real gist of McInsane’s VA problems…! It should be repeated at every available opportunity… Screw the Vets, I’ve got mine…
John McBu’ush.

John McCain gets tax-free disability pension
The disclosure of the Navy benefit for injuries incurred as a Vietnam POW may raise fitness questions.
Sen. John McCain has long said he is in robust health and is strong enough to hike the Grand Canyon, but he also is receiving what his staff Monday termed a “disability pension” from the Navy.
When McCain released his tax return for 2007 on Friday, he separately disclosed that he received a pension of $58,358 that was not listed as income on his return.
Problem is, there are other vets who have disability and jobs and pensions, and not all of them are loaded.
They will feel pretty low about this, and they aren’t known for NOT voicing their displeasure.
I’m not happy with the way a lot of teens talk in public these days, but at the same time, you know that the Lake has some Adult Talk sometimes. It’s not a teen blog, by any means.
We had this conversation a long time ago, if I recall.
I’m not arguing that there are a lot of mean spirited comments from some people here, but, I wouldn’t encourage a teen to part of this community.
That, and is it okay to talk about sports if they are gay, butt slapping sports comments?
This is a state initiative here in Montana. Right now they do not even have the signatures to get it on the ballot in November and it is not clear whether they will get them.
if those kind of antics are the norm, this country is hopeless.
On Monday, McCain’s staff identified the retirement benefit as a “disability pension” and said that McCain “was retired as disabled because of his limited body movements due to injuries as a POW.”
McCain campaign strategist Mark Salter said Monday night that McCain was technically disabled. “Tortured for his country — that is how he acquired his disability,” Salter said.
Certain types of military and veterans pensions are either partially or completely tax-exempt, depending on the seriousness of the disability. In McCain’s case, the exemption is 100%.
If McCain had to pay taxes on the full amount of the pension, it would have increased his tax bill by about $18,000 based on the percentage of his income he paid to the federal government.
Perfect way to put it. I got mine, so fuck everyone else.
I do believe in humor! I do.
Oh, McCain made the films, alright. We just don’t talk about it in polite company, because he made them while being tortured. He way exceeded what a POW should have done — given them name, rank, and serial number.
Well, why couldn’t Cindy Lou and John go with the chest thump. It is really endearing.
My Dad, who finally died a month ago, left a leg behind in Europe during WWII. He got about 50 grand a month VA disability pension, non-taxable.
‘Scuse me, but he’s either ‘fit’ or he’s not. Sounds like he’s not. Otherwise why the moula????
Newt, you’re missing the point… The drawing up the drawbridge mentality… Similarly, I was tortured, I see no reason to object to it…! ;-)
I meant a year. Too much tequila tonight, sorry. The NV Obama victory party.
Because Cindy Lou would knock him on his scrawny, senile ass. Bad for that macho image thingee.
Somehow that should make the Swiftboat charges against Kerry look like child’s play.
But it won’t. There has to be a media presence that has an interest in getting the story out. I guess ultimately, that would be us.
Time will tell. We’ll see how rough and low down the race gets.
50 grand a month?
Then I’m missing the point. But as I said, he’s not the only one getting these types of benefits and they aren’t all in his circumstances.
I don’t care to make him answer for it if it means that others who aren’t loaded and fortunate will resent it, and they will.
Yeah, my personal double-standard perhaps.
Cassie joined when a headliner (Jane?) invited a night of discourse from teens, iirc. I recall asking my daughter if she’d like to join in, but she laughed at me.
So who is this Teddy Partridge?
50 grand a month?
Agreed. Wounded vets deserve their compensation, rich or poor. But, now I want to see that son-of-a-bitch support similar benefits for others. And, if he doesn’t, then all of this should come crashing down on him.
which kind? Bush and the cadet?
Then attack his lack of legislative vigor, but not his wallet. There’s plenty of dirt wrt his wife’s dollars – now that’s a bonanza.
When McCain released his tax return for 2007 on Friday, he separately disclosed that he received a pension of $58,358 that was not listed as income on his return.
That’s a big chunk o’ change. Lots of Vets are finding themselves fighting to retain their benefits of $2K a month or less. Viet Nam Vets with PTSD are being reviewed and screwed. McCain is getting regular pay from three distinct parties and hasn’t a financial concern in the world. Who’s the elistist?
TSF.
I imagine that Mr. Obama will be able to work it into the conversation during debates.
hi ofg, it’s tsf
A year. Already corrected that tequila mistake w/ update.
BobbyG’s been drinking. He issued a correction, he meant per year.
Why Obama of course! Don’t you watch the TV?
You mean per year, right?
Right. Yes, McCain suffered. But the men and women who are being maimed and burned up in this latest escapade ….are they getting 50K a year for their troubles? If so, then fine. And is there a COLA – or whatever keeps them up to date as they age? McCain should certainly and rightly be held to account for discussing this in detail.
well, that too. I was referring to terror-fist assertion. pathetic.
I’ll bet that he is getting special consideration that is not accorded to other victims of similar Vietnamese torture. And, if so, that fact should be broadcast far and wide.
Bu.u.u.urp, yes.
It’s almost impossible to qualify for disability as a civilian these days. And income and assets have to be near zero for an entire year before they review it.
I’m afraid they knock each other down on their asses. !!
Yah. I recognized the writing style, I just didn’t know that you had been “outed”.
Our Teddy San Francisco. He came clean.
My step-dad is a 100% disabled (PTSD) Nam vet…
That was what I’m referring to, Newt…
Plus, they paid his nursing home (dementia, 6 years). That was another 7 grand a month or so.
But, my Ma is private pay. I’m cutting a check tomorrow for about $6,200 for the last month.
Agreed! That’s exactly what I meant by: “Agreed. Wounded vets deserve their compensation, rich or poor.”
I’m 100% with you on this.
Clearly the fist-bump was a gang sign flashy signal to hammas and bin bommin.
There is no doubt that McCain suffered. More credit to him. But that he isn’t giving it up for the current group of sufferers is pathetic. He should not get a free ride on that.
I been on a liquid diet tonight.
:)
Hey OFG,
I asked for you tonight! Did you see 30 Days?
“bare-blogging”?
[ducks]
ouch! that’s enough to put almost anyone on a “liquid diet.”
mmmm…..
hummus and bon bons
I understand.
And attacking McCain directly for his “you got yours, but everybody else can take a flyer” will give him the fight he wants.
Attacking his votes makes him reply defensive. I want him back-peddling, not on offense.
Who knew that the El Rukn’s were still in business and had branched out to more than just the Libyans?
I’ll clack my hooch against the screen for a toast.
“To the kisses I’ve snatched, and vice versa.”
I couldn’t agree more. He has an obligation not only to discuss it, but to see to it that vets who have undergone similar tragedy are properly compensated and cared for. (I suspect that he is getting special consideration, and that others who’ve suffered similar wounds at the hands of Vietnamese captors have not been so well compensated. If so, that fact should be announced far and wide.)
The chest bump was so low-class.
But, this is a cat who said “Awesome speech, your Holiness.”
Q: Does Bu’ush take the dishes out of the White House sink before pissing in it?
McCain is a lunatic. He makes no sense. He’s a self-serving crazy warmongering whore for lobbyists.
Okay. But, you’re not really saying that people should teen-down their comments on a regular basis are you?
My comment was in response to Betsy’s point that Cassie is exposed to verbage here that may not be appropriate. That was my take. I could be wrong, of course.
Do you understand what I’m saying?
Are you going to ask certain people here not to make sexually nuanced suggested comments?
Heh, we must’ve crossed in the toobz… *g*
30 Days? Is that a movie?
LOL!!!! 707! ROTFL….
Yep. We’re on the same page, I think.
Foul mouthed fem blogging is well and in the pink!
Hey, Oilfieldguy — I lurked for you for years. (Smiles….. :) )
His legislative actions are exactly what I’m attacking… Including his torture stance…!
My dad is a WWII vet (Army) He spent 30 years in the military. Now that he has lived too damn long the government is trying to decrease his pension and increase the cost of his meds, while the insane clown posse gets thousands of tax free dollars from the government. This makes me ill.
When’s the last time you walked through a mall?
That shit needs to make it onto cable news. And, vets’ spokesmen are now getting some TV face time.
McCaint released the disability pay without having to, since it’s untaxed. I wonder if it’s a trap.
It is strange that in the civilian world, if one receives full disability, it means they are unable to work. If we lose one arm, one leg, and one eye, we receive partial disability. This seems funky. Full disability, but hikes the grand canyon and is running for prez.
Ask Suz how well disability works out. Bet she’d be delighted with 58K. Seems really off to me.
It is a cable show where Morgan Spurlock takes on a mission for 30 days. He is from WVA, coal mining country, though never a miner himself. He coal mines for 30 days and talks about mountain top removal, a subject you blogged about years ago. It really made an impression on me, and so I noted tonight. And then, You Are Here!
Perhaps some very quiet research is in order.
Yay me…I’ve got a fan! Lurk no more, Dearie!
That is, after all, those “core conservative principals”: I’ve got mine, fuck you!
When especially pissed, I’ve been known to storm the offices of my Senators and Representative on occasion…
Just a thought….
Hell no! (See Thers thread a week ago Thursday!)
Yeah, Ma is now burnin’ about $75 -80k a year for private-pay nursing home care. ‘Til it runs out, at which point it becomes Medicaid.
Agree completely.
And as a political matter, it’s got to be aired.
But not by Barack Obama (at least not beyond the legislative impact) – by surrogates – us.
Firstly, I don’t do malls.
Secondly, I said I don’t like the way teens talk. I have a 14 year old and pick him up inside the campus everyday.
I hear that talk. It is what it is.
So, why are you calling me out and what is your question?
This is not a mall. Or is it?
Yup, compassionate conservatism at work. They make me sick.
Hey, Bud, you gotta a lot of fans. When I de-lurked, you weren’t immediately around, so I’m glad to ’see’ you. I’ve been around since the beginning, lurking actively, and some FDLers have taken their leave…..I’m glad you’re still here.
I’d call it predatory. No matter how it’s presented, the bumpor was the bumpee’s commander-in-chief.
They all rant about “personal responsibility” for health care coverage too, While they all take every penny of their “entitled” taxpayer-funded benefits.
demi i did not read that as calling you out
OT
How many not for profit corporations are there in America?
How many are in financial difficulties?
How many might be skimming some money (without their members knowing it) to give to the GOP or a Repub campaign?
How would we go about discovering this kind of information?
I would as well. I get $0. Taxed or otherwise.
Been there, done that. Repuke rep couldn’t care less. DiFi is invested in the war. Boxer was sympathetic. Pretty much no help.
Hmmmm..I seem to type marginally better when shit-faced on 4 magaritas than when I’ve not yet had my morning coffee…hmmmm…
One of the critical factors behind the dollar amounts received is based on what rank you were when you were injured/maimed, etc… He was an Officer, subsequently he receives an officers pay rate, many in Nam/Iraq were mere EM’s and receive only half that…
Fading out. time to go
*poof*
Night all.
Yes I have seen that show. It was particularly compelling trying to live on minimal wages with his wife and a couple of borrowed kids for a month. Some real family stress there.
When poverty knocks at the door, love flies out the window.
Shorter:
No money, no honey.
Aloha, Rev!
lol, Dearie!
nite revdeb
g’nite revdeb
His Detainee Treatment Act of 2005 is a fucking fraud, and the Military Commissions Act to which he was a major party is way, way worse.
This fucker claims to be against torture, but in fact he has written get-out-of-jail cards for torturers. Witness Section 1004 of his Detainee Treatment Act.
I guess I missed what you were saying.
I don’t see how Jane inviting teens to a particular thread makes it relevant to point out some of the disgusting things that are written here as being inappropriate for teens.
People can be nice or not, but whether a known teen is here or not should not be the barometer. That’s just how I feel.
I wish I didn’t have to read some of the comments here. And, of course, I don’t have to. I can ignore or scroll or not come here.
Night RevDeb. Pray for us all. Don’t know if it works, but we need all the help we can get.
Tonight’s show was hard to watch for those of us used to an office and a lunch hour.
I must be stupid tonight.
Aha! I fristignose you as having low sodium levels, which can cause (really) confusion and forgetfulness.
Voila, Rx: the Margarita Cure!
sleep well revdeb
Yep, Yoo penned their ‘get out of jail’ card…
i wasn’t calling you stupid demi
707!
Thanks, doc.
Buu.u.uu….rp…
G’nite, RevDeb – good to see you here again. Sleep well.
Ooops. Toes stepped on. Only meant that general trash talk is everywhere. I taught my own kids to think before they expounded. Wish others had, too. No offense intended.
The DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel. Yeah.
‘night, eminent ‘pups.
Quervo Crash beckons.
Do you suppose the Sheikh likes tequila? I hope so. :)
g’nite bobbyg
g’nite, BobbyG. Say hi to the worm for me!
John McCain supports torture of human beings by the United States of America.
John McCain:
Worse than Bush
Is McCain going to give the detainees a pension when he’s done torturing them?
I myself am a cad and a rake, a scoundrelly rascal with vulgar tendencies. Those are on my good behavior days. I try not to be to offensive and avoid sexism here at all costs, because the broads who run this blog don’t dig it.
woops
Been there, done that. Repuke rep couldn’t care less. DiFi is invested in the war. Boxer was sympathetic. Pretty much no help.
Sucks. fwiw, my Senators (Bayh, Lugar) turned out to be no help either, The late Representative Julia Carson’s office otoh, jumped right on it – problem fixed within 24 hours. Her grandson Andre won the D primary here on May 6, and will be running for her seat in November. Go Andre!
Wow. What happened to America?
nice!
EX-FUCKING-ACTLY!!!
Good night Booby G. Think I will head out as well. Take care all.
Evening all :>) Neuro I see you been working that shovel and Digging the post tonight!!
nite bobbyg
…a person of ordinary sense and understanding would have known the practices to be unlawful.
Is that a Republican’s sense and understanding, or that of a normal human being?
That rocks! More and better….
If I were to qualify, I’d have to (1) spend all my money; (2) get my income down to $960/month gross; (3) work fewer than 15 hrs a week; and (4) get my doctors to sign all the papers. Even then, only a 50% chance I could get approved. And you’ve seen me at my best medically!
It actually was something I was diagnosed with, believe it or not.
Unfortunately Margaritas were not the cure.;)
They changed a medicine and when last week it was still low, I told them I’d put a salt lick in the kitchen and would check back with them in a month. They laughed.
Has anyone else gotten their gift check from Bush? My daughter was supposed to get $600 and she only got $300. If that’s a pattern some people are going to be very unhappy.
And steps 1, 2 and 3 would have to be for a four or a six month period.
This is very real danger as we move through this campaign. The Repubes are very good at coordinating these sorts of traps.
Obama just tip-toed through a complex mine field teeming with these sorts of traps, mostly set by The Clintons and their DLC brethren, and he passed with flying colors. I don’t expect Obama to take any of the bait, and hopefully a lot of us rabid lambs will follow his lead.
I got the full check.
Maybe it was TRex who did the inviting. Since Cassie was away for school, a lot of people don’t know her now.
g’nite dr dick (and any other leaving sleepy pups i missed while token was saving a redwood tree)
Hey pups!
Seems like it’s time to revive that video of the young lady who took on Ashcroft on the Japanese waterboarding of US soldiers.
it was pach who wrote that post inviting young bloggers
Oh, gosh, Suz, I didn’t think you were saying that at all. I’m sorry.
I’m just missing stuff left and right here, so I was saying that I’m feeling stupid tonight.
We know what that means for me…book time.
And, I will be saying my prayers tonight. :)
And, Suz, the next time you’re outside, would you hug a big old redwood tree for me?
Reminds me of an old joke. A few decades ago the LAPD was killing a relatively large number of their black detainees via the carotid choke hold. When confronted with this fact, the Chief of LAPD protested that maybe black people are more susceptible to this hold than “normal people.”
Q: What colors does the LAPD paint their police cars?
A: Black and normal.
Okay, maybe you had to have been there.
No check for me.
Cheers to you! And night RevDeb.
Aloha, DD!
Fugly and illuminating.
I didn’t know that redwoods had to be watered. Good for Token.
Loo Hoo, this morning’s post was Swopa’s.
But even a tree can enjoy a hug.
Bye Oilfieldguy.
Still have not gotten my stimulation. According to SSNs , I should have been first.
Though I agree the disparity between how civilian vs military disabliity benefits are calculated is huge, I also agree with newtonusr that anything that even seems like an electoral attempt to confront the latter would be disastrous (that is, if I understood: I’m not trying to put
figswords in his mouth).Rather (and here I think I may disagree with newton) if there’s any electoral angle to this it would lie in the fact that McCain’s Seante votes have denied to later generations of vets the benefits for which he was eligible – esp VA care, but also education (f that is accurate).
When/if we evver have a progressive govt, I hope we’ll treat civilian diability as it is treated in Scandanavia: an entitlement. Just one of the aspects of a civilized society. No “whack-a-mole” litigation games that force the disabled to “prove” the employer’s liability. No diversion of awarded beneifts to the medical whores who thrive on disability. Just a simple non-paritsan fucntional assessement, and then inflation-adjsuted beneifts for those who cannot work.
And a pony.
Similar thing. Got the advance letter saying to expect X amount, but received X minus $600 based on some very long convoluted equation as a result of an amount on an obscure line on our tax forms. Very weird experience.
Oh…our comments crossed. Looks like I missed the tree hug by That Much.
Knox College student pwns Ashcroft.
I think this young lady has a pretty good understanding.
I have spent mine, but haven’t received it yet…
Did ED Hill ever refer to Dick Cheney’s “terrorist face shotgunning”?
-G
hahahaha! when we gonna flip some pancakes together? (uh, don’t get any ideas, buster!) ;)
I kept mine a whole 2 days before spending it!
My point being that safe political ground for Obama is to point to McCain’s legislative record and say that it’s not good enough.
But if he stands up at a debate and points to him and says “You got yours – why not everybody else?”, it’s a calamity. POLITICALLY.
Andrew Rice, who is a progressive Democrat (endorsed by ActBlue) running to unseat Jim Inhofe in Oklahoma busted the million dollar mark in fund raising. Good going to our netroot supporters.
Unfortunately, Inhofe has way more than double that in oily cash on hand. Maybe Andrew is tilting at windmills, and it is conventional wisdom that he is, but hopefully we can get out the word that Inhofe has never voted for a single bill that would benefit our troops. That, to me is a back breaker. I blogged about it over at my place. It is a typical post of mine, very subtle, akin to trains having sex.
Just click my name if you want more info and help me spread the word.
When do we get a body language expert explaining John McCain’s grimaces and laughing at inappropriate times? And the Peter Lorre impressions?
Can’t neglect the pony, Doc…! ;-)
Suzanne upstairs!
late late nite is upstairs
I’ll give back the pony, but could really use the benefits!
Agreed. But a dog or cat would be better. *g* They really help the disabled. Haven’t seen the research on ponies.
Knox College student pwns Ashcroft.
As
hcroftshole…Moi??
Blinks innocently (albeit only with one eye)
Soon I hope.
Goodnight Christine, and Mrs Calabash, wherever you are.
Hadn’t seen that, thanks. What a brave young woman. He tried to bully her into submission, and she stood strong. There is hope! The audacity.
Doesn’t Inhofe have Abramoff exposure? Tho probably naive to expect anything from that prior to November.
I like Andrew Rice a lot. His race is my choice for surprising outcome of 2008, a la Jim Webb or Jon Tester.
We have a HUGE media problem in Oklahoma. Our only state-wide newspaper is far right wing and will never write anything negative about Inhofe. It will be entirely purchased buys and alternative media–aka blogs. Lefty blogs only preach to the choir, however, so our reach is limited.
Thanks for your support, Teddy, it means a lot to me.
What is the DSCC doing there?
But, why not true graciousness……. “you got yours, and America can be proud about that.” Just leave it out there. Let someone else do the petard thing.
I don’t know about ‘trains having sex’ —- jeez, I’ve missed so much by being the good girl. But I do know that it’s time to truth-out BIG time. Just put it out there. Sunshsine sanitizes.
Last word I got they were sending out ten people to help. This usually means the candidate and campaign must do as the DC boys want if they want money. The consultants are beholden to their DC masters who supply them work, winning or losing is irrelevant. Look at the pattern of the last twenty years to see how successful this model has been.
Thanks, OFG.
Seems to me that you got yourself a live Dem and a real chance. I’d like to see Schumer show a little faith – what plays in OK ain’t the same as what plays in NY.
