Much will be poured out by blabbing talking heads blabbing about Hillary’s speech over the next several hours if not days.
And their dirty little secret is that they really aren’t any smarter or more insightful than the average person. Most of them are analytical mediocrities (witness their record on the Iraq war and G.W. Bush).
It’s now not just a truism that the average commenters at liberal blogs can be just as insightful if not more so — it’s a fact.
This post is dedicated to proving that. Go forth and share.

About Firedoglake
Fitz!
Has she spoken yet? I am trying to avoid TV now.
I didn’t see it and hope somebody posts teh tube
Excellent. Her endorsement is being greeted with cheers.
Speaking of his “strength and determination, his grace and his grit.”
Way better than I thought it would be. She’s tired but that’s understandable.
This well-done and very welcome news.
She’s delivering a strong, solid endorsement.
jus cogens obligatio erga omnes!
It’s for the country! Because so much is at stake. Thank you, Hillary.
Excellent. Her endorsement is being greeted with cheers.
A few boo’s, but I’m genuinely surprised at the extent of the cheering for Obama…
We are family. Well spoken Hillary. It is about having a dem in the whitehouse in the end
Now she’s calling for unity. If her supporters present at this speech are any indication we have a united party behind Sen. Obama.
I like the “his grace and grit” meme.
Me too, but I’m a sucker for alliteration!
Digg this HERE
Her supporters will get behind Obama. I only heard maybe one or two people boo. Thank Goddess…
Bush bash. GO!!!
The picture on my TV went out, and I am just listening to the speech.
I wonder how that may alter my perceptions of it.
Yep. Opens the door to suggesting that NOW, Senator Obama has THE Presidential stuff.
perfect speech
perfect speech
Yes we can!
“Today I am standing with Sen. Obama to say ‘yes, we can.’ “
si, se puede.
“standing with Sen. Obama to say ‘yes we can’” was a good touch
[dugg]
wow
I’m actually forgiving her, because of this speech.
It is what I hoped and prayed for!
A very classy concession speech, IMO. In fact, it is one of the best speeches I have heard Ms. Clinton deliver. A Hearty Well Done, Hillary!
Whoever is booing needs to knock it off.
Done Neuro see you are on duty…. Good! How was the concert last eveing?
She’s doing a superb job.
health insurance not health care!!!
If Hillary had been giving concession speeches since January, she would have won this thing.
.
I hope she commits to taking this speech and many others on the road. Her campaigning could well make the difference.
she is making a strong endorsement
GO HILLARY!
Limbaugh’s peeps, no doubt …
It was great, nahant. Even better than I expected.
Yup.
I think this is the pitch perfect speech, Obama’s folks have to be very pleased and grateful
somebody wrote a very good speech
That there is a damn fine speech Hillary Clinton is giving right now.
She IS! Marion. And I KNOW this is clear on the other side of “comfortable” for her. She’s doing an amazing job.
Elect Barack Obama over and over…. Good for her I just hope the crazies stay home this election cycle and shut their mouths.
Excellent speech.
You think Larry Johnson is listening? Is he getting it?
“the average commenters at liberal blogs can be just as insightful if not more so…”
Excellent point, and for the benefit of the media mediocritites you mention, may I just add, “nyah nyah nyah!! WE were rgiht and you were WRONG, over and over again!”
And I mean that in all seriousness, particular to Ed Rollins, who still thinks the blogs are a childs playtoy.
Gosh, that felt GOOD!!
I love that she is going over all the reasons that it is imperative that Obama win this election. Pointing out some of the many awful ways America will be impacted if Obama does not win this thing.
(just asking)
Is she meeting this standard?
Is it too much about her?
I don’t understand this allusion, could you elaborate please?
I don’t know about that. I thought that once it became clear Tuesday evening, she looked much more relaxed and at peace. She knows she gave it everything she had and was simply beaten by a candidate who put together an amazing team and delivered a message that people connected with. She wants what is best for the country and is telling us now.
gawd I wish I had a link to this speech, am at work and can’t watch
I think she is meeting the standard
the perfect political pitch yet also personal
Thanks, perris. I’m doing some head scratching here too.
:)
NQ blog became a Obama trash site….. IMHO with little or no facts to back there claims…
yay. (un)remarkable.
Done, thanks for the digg link.
I don’t think so, her supporters are being led to share her viewpoint and help elect Barack Obama as POTUS …
I’m sure somebody will have the video up by the time you’re done. Do watch it when you have a chance.
maybe…more about women.
When you stumble, keep faith.
So far, in relation to this speech, she is doing an outstanding job. I took the quote, however, to mean how the loser loses over the course of the campaign.
And I think Larry Johnson alone is proof enough that Rahm Emanuel has, in fact, made a wise statement, at least once in his life.
Go to CNN’s site and click on Live TV.
Google the name, I can’t link to it.
50 women in space!
Right On!!!!
18 million cracks in the highest, hardest glass ceiling.
Ed Rollings is one of the most obnoxious pundits in a long time…. of course he has been around long time to hone is vitriol skills!
Larry Johnson is a Hillary supporter and has been instrumental in spreading the rumor about Michelle and the ‘whitey’ comments. He is very much against Obama.
Is it too much about her?
getting pretty darned close to it…
You were looking at the radio, silly. *g*
The huge impact of Obama as our nominee is saying soooo much to the world about us now, the full impact is barely sinking in here,
aftershocks, and pride!
“Every moment wasted looking back keeps us from moving forward.”
Getting Joe Wilson, Larry Johnson & Co. to tone it down will be quite a task
larry johnson’s name results would be too abundant
Can’t watch it, but has Hillary now crossed the 2nd place threshold? No doubt, the things she’s saying today we can take at her word….as far as we know.
now if she just says having an african american as prez is just as good as having a woman. . .
She couldn’t stop that, it’s how she is. But this is VERY powerful! Great speech,
imho, her BEST!
707
i’m sorry, but WHO is Larry Johnson?????
I’m so confused on that one.
sorry.
Larry Johnson is a Larry Johnson supporter methinks.
She already has said essentially that very thing.
Larry Johnson runs NoQuarter.
Please forgive me.
got it
this is a surprise to me since I’ve respected most of the things larry has done for this country, especially for valery
I get the sense there are two Hillarys: Hillary Rodham, and Hillary Rodham Clinton.
I just don’t know how she will counter the use of her support for McCain which the Repugs are milking and I bet, will continue to use. After all, say it often enough and people believe it.
Yep, having him in office will go a lot to erasing the negative image of Dubya.
However, it will take a 180 degree turn in American foreign policy to convince the World that America is the leading voice of democracy.
There is some info over at TPM about this….
Is Bogus Michelle Obama Rumor Based On A Work Of Fiction?
in the same breath. that’s what I need to hear.
Larry Johnson’s website:
noquarterusa.net
Good speech and much needed …
still no sale on the VP idea here … time to move forward
larry johnson is a former cia analyst and was instramental in letting us know that the adminsistration exposed our covert assets
I liked him quite a bit
She’s doing a great job in this speech.
I’d also like to take a moment to say I’ve always had great respect for Sen. Clinton and her candidacy.
Health and Human Services.
This is a great speech. Any of her “supporters” who continues to say that they’ll vote for McCain aren’t really democrats at all.
No tears! yay
omg you got THAT so right! And it’s being said that it will be impossible to do in one or even 2 terms.
I just think Obi can do it. and I couldn’t be any more let down by him than I am/was with Pelosi, so I’m hanging onto that hope.
Closed the deal.
Did her duty to party, saluted her supporters and gave them all the reason they need to support the Democratic ticket.
OfT, but imho, women of all ethnicities will identify with Hillary. In my experience, women who have ancestors who were slaves, still find discrimination against their gender a larger problem than discrimination against their ethnicity.
Link @ 80 … venture at your own risk … *g*
Larry Johnson is Former CIA officer who runs a very anti- Obama site.
Excellent speech .. not to long.
thank you perris. i’m not so blondehere riht now cause of you.
lol
Good job, Hillary!
Agreed she has told them to support Obama!
yes!!!!!!!!
at LEAST!!!!!!!!!
Excellent ! Did not once wallow in self- pity.
Seconded.
thanks petrocelli,
think I’ll skip the link tho.
I won’t give anything like that ANY energy.
never have, never will, it’s just something I believe in.
:)
Olbermann: “six home runs.”
I agree. I liked him also. But everyone needs to realize that we need to elect a democrat. No matter who the nominee is. I have a hard time understanding people that don’t get that.
iirc, in the evolution of civil rights, african americans have historically gotten rights before women. So, historically, it’s really no suprise to have Obama as the nominee. I’m delighted with either.
Me too, I went there once … didn’t leave angry, just laughed at the diatribe …
I agree. you want your candidate to win but ultimately it is about getting your party to that goal line
I thought he said, “6 minutes of home runs.”
more so both (sexism and racism)
She got the job done very well. She certainly knows how to deliver a speech. This should help a great deal.
Thirded.
I know this is kinda sappy, but I got goosebumps on my arms towards the end of her speech.
Great speech.
I had to immediately turn the TV off after she concluded, so I could miss out of the inevitable cynical micro-parsing.
Nope…. have HRC usher single payer healthcare through congress and then when the first opening on the Supreme Court put her in…. her confirmation will fly through….. she can make up her campaign debt with quarter & half million speaking fees and she won’t be out there to challenge Obama or sabotage his presidency…
Hillary found her “inner” feminist and populist — finally — in this long campaign (IMHO:) probably IN SPITE OF HERSELF. Running against Obama (and Edwards — give him credit, too). I think her consciousness got profoundly raised and that is a good thing. (She is still the pragmatic strategist, too … and she needed to hit this mark … for her future brokering power.)
The speech was good. Good writing and presentation. The imagery of the glass ceiling getting lots of cracks in it was well done.
Did she effectively re-direct supporters’ energy? It seemed like she tried. Now she has to show she is willing to work for BO, too. I liked her calling the Dem party a FAMILY!!!!
you are such a laughy guy, petrocelli.
that k-wrap makes my blood boil.
hehe
That’s a great catch by TPM. I’ve got the feeling that the blogosphere (how I loath that term) is going to play a large part in debunking any Rethug 527 nonsense. It helps that we have people who, like, read books and stuff.
Last time I looked it wasn’t a blogger or commenter that a general in the U S Army called, “…the fucking stupidest guy on the face of the earth.”
Now it’s on the the general election, where we’ve not only got to get Obama elected but a lot of good Dems on the down ticket races as well. The struggle continues so keep yer eyes peeled and yer powder dry.
Good on you, Senator Clinton. You showed a lot of class today.
here’s an interesting factoid;
If I had said;
“
larry johnson was a former cia analyst”, if larry johnson is still alive that statement means he IS a cia agent
just saying
Timmeh has been quite … um … uncynical thus far …
I agree.
KO started right in, though, noting “suspending”.
Could you elaborate on that? black men were given the right to vote but it was paper only (otherwise why the civil rights voting act in 68?) Also while black men may have been given rights, black women still didn’t have the right.
It was a very fine speech. Now I can support Hillary Clinton again in her efforts.
the MSNBC pundits are praising the speech, even Russert
Turned off the talking heads… Back to work, very relieved at what a great job she did.
oops I meant 1965
Ayup, me too.
Changed the channel to the Belmont Stakes before I turned off the TV, though.
See you fabulous pups later.
FunnyD
Yes, but not as a Vulture circling Obama’s head, rather to keep the coffers open to pay off her debt …
Which was when I got up and hit the “off” switch (my remote is busted).
THIS is the “rumored” tape that Larry Johnson was been threatening to release for months….. but never could cough it up….. NOW it is found that it was based on a book of fiction…….
I’m glad you were here with us today, Marion.
Well, that’ my understanding. It’s a legal/campaign finance matter, no?
me too. It was a great speech. I hope everyone is ready to work. We have a lot of work to do.
I am ready.
(((((((((BobbyG))))))))))
hiya sweetie!!!!
Timmeh the Toady is going to bend whichever way the wind blows.
That is quite a scowl on that Secret Service Agent next to HRC….. … He doesn’t know how to hid his thoughts in his looks…
We’ve had many debates here, whether sexism is worse than racism … which beats the Chicken V Egg debate for waste of time and energy.
I think it’s best to focus our energies on resolving both issues.
I’m VERY surprised at the strength of her endorsement of Omaba. Very emphatic, said it over and over, nothing bitter (very surprised about that), “Yes we can” was an amazing moment. I almost wonder if she and BO wrote it together.
I feel much better about her as a person. Still didn’t like her as a candidate.
When they showed Bill in the audience, after all his victories, he must have felt like Jerry Rice did after joining the Raiders, making the Super Bowl and then getting their asses handed to them by Tampa. Rice had a long TD catch but they lost.
Bill had many victories, but in this contest, I think he hurt her. He ought to go do his good deeds now, boink whomever he’s going to and disappear from public life.
Good speech. I can’t bring myself to listen to TIMMAY any more, so I’m listening to Coyote Blitzer on CNN.
Great because there are no breaks, no pauses until election night. then we celebrate
Larry Johnson, CIA agent for life, is an ass.
I won’t miss his smug- filled put downs of HRC …
OT, this free credit report ad really irritates me. What is wrong with being a waitperson?
chicken vs egg has an answer that works;
“if you believe in ecolution the egg came before the chicken, if you believe in creation the chicken came before the egg”
there
if Clinton continues for the next two months like she did today, I would set aside any reservations I have had about her being the running mate
I am convinced by this speech that she can deliver votes to Obama
I’m just gonna avoid all the MSM post-speech bloviating. It was a great speech. Whether she follows through is another matter for another day, and will clarify on its own. Today I take her at her word.
Awesome speech. As an “audition” for VP slot, I’d give it a near 10. If there were no other factors/baggage, the choice would be easy. Two great coalitions, both committed and fired up, could combine to obliterate the Republicans and McCain. I wish it were that simple.
Well, I don’t think the Obama campaign could have dreamed up a better speech.
A real credit to Senator Clinton and the Party.
Wasn’t debating. One is not worse than the other. They are equally egregious but it serves no one if the whole story is not noted.
Agreed?
Me too. Thank heaven for dumb old movies.
Great speech. She’s an amazing woman and a great leader.
Unfortunately, ambition makes people do ugly things at times, and I’m so glad this part of the campaign is over.
IMO, in defeat she could be humble, caring, honorable without reservation. And it was very inspirational.
egg before chicken… breakfast before dinner.
chicken vs egg has an answer that works;
Saw a great cartoon somewhere: A chicken and an egg lying in bed together – the egg is smoking a cigarette and saying “I think I did”.
Then what produced the egg?
iirc (I’m not a historian), part of the reason that the women’s suffrage movement was ultimately sucessful was that some advanced the argument that white women’s votes would override the newly had votes of blacks.
Also, the two movements were very intertwined for many years, with suffragettes and anti slavery types working together for a long time. That is one of the reasons that the modern, “The only place for women in SNCC is prone” comment was so galling to feminists.
You rang?
Matthews: “a splendid performance”
I’m with you on that.
Chicken & eggs for breakfast.
“Mother & Child Reunion”
- Paul Simon
That is awesome
bacteria.
Hear, hear.
FDL has done some as per usual excellent posts on the tensions between Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass. The ex-slaves, who were MALE received the Federal right to vote with the 15th Amendment in 1870.
White supremacy, however was still legal in the US until the 1960’s. Jim Crow laws prevented most descendants of the slaves (male and female) from exercising their right to vote in any meaningful way.
Prior to the 19th Amendment, women who were 100% European American and found wealthy husbands, could look forward to a life of affluence that was unavailable to women who weren’t 100% European American. After the 19th Amendment, women who had ancestors who were slaves were still prevented from voting by legalized white supremacy.
something that had not quite evolved into a chicken yet
I would love to know what they talked about at DiFi’s house the other night. Whatever it was, they clearly see eye to eye now.
Obama/Clinton ‘08!
understood and i don’t argue that point, merely that many of the rights ‘afforded’ to black MEN (women not included) were on paper. Certainly one would not have succeeded without the other.
in evolution, the creature that mutated their offsprim into the chicken produced the egg before the chicken
(((Egregious)))
hehe your the good kind *g*
I agree with your statement, Scarecrow, however there’s really no place in the White House for a Clinton in 09. That’s my opinion, I know. I think it’s correct on many levels, however.
Bacteria. We are the progeny of a 4+ billion year random walk begun by bacteria.
well that makes perfect sense
C-span will re-air the speech at 8PM EST
Former Edwards supporter here. Because he so aptly expressed my ANGER, I was sad to see him suspend, but also recognized that an anger-based platform might not be embraced by those who are less angry. When the race became an either/or proposition, I found myself leaning more toward Obama. Some of the end-game shenanigans that Hillary’s team put forwarded put me firmly in Obama’s camp. I fit the demographics of a Hillary supporter . . . old, uneducated, working-class . . . but could not but be charmed by Obama’s message of “change” and “hope.”
That said, I was discouraged by Hillary’s Tuesday night speech. After hearing today’s message, I give the woman a big THUMBS UP! Let the healing–and the hard work–begin.
Yup. That would do the trick. I can’t see it any other way. A bi-racial President and a woman. I don’t see any other women contenders out there that are prepared to campaign in the general…she’s prepared…she’s got support.
I want the Neocons to be gone forever.
Folks, this is gonna be a landslide.
Now I can say this as a DFH in my mom’s basement, not someone working on Sen. Obama’s campaign.
And please note I didn’t say ‘easy’.
In fact one reason it’s gonna be a landslide is the way his people continuously ran his campaign as underdogs, even after they got the lead.
Now that the spotlight is squarely on John ‘Creepy Smile’ McCain, all the baby back ribs in the world won’t be able to save him from the beat down he’s got coming.
The debates (town hall) or otherwise are gonna be brutal, just brutal.
History is gonna roll down on McSame like that giant ball in the Indiana Jones movie.
Git your popcorn ready!
Let’s shatter the rest of the ceiling…all the way.
btw Perris, C-span always streams this kind of thing. When you’re at work they’re the go to guys. I always enjoy the callers afterwards as well. Much more entertaining than the head’s opinions.
Not having cable I’ll be looking on the intertoobz well before 8. Ooops, come to think of it it’s prolly on C-SPAN’s site. That’s what I get fer thinkin’. Think I’ll go take a little looksee.
(((Wobbs)))
I think this ticket represents the best chance the republicans have for winning
sorry
right on
Clinton will NOT be the VP pick….. just will not happen…
Good one!! hahahaha
We gotta keep our Eyes on The Prize. McBu’ush will be a primary agent for the irreversible ruination of this country as President. Never forget that. That is no overstatement, either.
I cannot WAIT for the Obama/McCain debates!!!!
THAT is gonna be some flat out entertainment!
:D
Indeed. In fact, Larry Johnson was caught again pushing incredibly racist crapola the other day.
(((SD)))
bom dia
I would happy to never hear the name Clinton again.
And with gas at $4/gal and rising, that “used sub-compact” is looking better every day!
A-yep.
Could Clinton be paid to do Obama ads and use that money toward her campaign debt?
WHAT a very kewl banner!!!
Okay folks.
I’m going over to Hillary’s site and going to drop some $$ to help her retire her campaign debt. I appreciate her words of strength, unity, and power.
on the other hand, if they do win the whitehouse we will definately have bush to thank for one thing;
in a country of bigots and mesoginists we would not have elected a black man or a women for another generation
because of the vile hatred of bush we will be able to thank him for both
It was my college kids plus the YD’s who said…. it has been a Bush or a Clinton ALL their lives….. they deserve something very different…. it will be their world …
Ask and ye shall receive:
Senator Clinton’s speech
Right at the beginning, McCauliffe (sp?) looks about half shitfaced.
Thank you for that clear explanation. I was thinking of the rights on paper more than actual, real world rights. It’s pretty clear, though, that giving women the right to vote was really a ploy to consolidate power in white men again.
I am equally happy with an african american man or a white woman as prez. I don’t see a practical difference in terms of progress. Either is fabulous.
ditto
You can have this one too:
http://www.bgladd.com/SpareChange.jpg
I can hardly wait. It would have been great if when McCain “challenged” Obama to town hall meetings, Obama had said, “See you in twenty minutes.”
I’m one of those folks, Katy. Thank you so much
That is true. Bush brought the dem party together like no one could.
Both ceilings, together, each helping the other. That’s a powerful image, an overpowering coalition. I could put up with a lot of negatives to achieve that.
Lot’s of hype about who Clinton supporters have to be reconciled to Obama, have to let go of whatever hostility was directed at him, or because of him. But that applies both ways. There’s lots about Clinton that Obama fans could let go of to, if would help the two of them shatter these barriers for all time.
What are each of us willing to give up to achieve this? Tough questions, but I don’t think any of us gets off the hook.
I have to edit this one to: McChange.
I don’t know the answer as a matter of law, but I believe that would destroy her credibility
That was funny.
Someone pointed this out at TPM that McBush’s requirement was hand picked attendees…. wonder if hateful Harriet (Janes vid from the DNC RBC meeting) will be one with her hateful screed?
I saw him this past week or last (Morning Joe) taking shots of some alcohol with the hosts. The week before last with a bottle of rum on another show. Hope this primary didn’t drive the man to drink
If HRC is not the VP, it absolutely has to be a woman who is 100% European American.
Per scarecrow, I don’t deny that Bill brings some serious baggage. But what other Democratic, 100% European American, woman, brings such rock-star status? In terms of drawing crowds, drawing the media, raising money, in precisely the demographics where Obama is not strong, I don’t see anyone else who is even close to HRC as a potential VP. No one else brings anywhere near the name recognition she does.
FWIW, I’m still angry about what Bill and Hillary did to Ned Lamont’s campaign. That’s my problem.
No Way Back from Here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzFgSNotNzo
Good point.
Obama should not take the bait, in terms of letting McBu’ush set the agenda for any town hall meetings. On a level stage/venue, he will kick McBu’ush’s ass totally.
sorry for the delay,
i had to get up off the floor!
She did a good job of it, I figure it’s worth 3-5% nationally. The VP pick is up to Obama, and I trust his judgment.
That should be spread far and wide.
HRC went too far to the dark side…… the Mellon Scape endorsement…. the quoting Rove….. the racists and throwing out the Repug memes… That is who she should never be considered….
Somehow I don’t think he just started drinking. The fact that he is very liable to become a has-been mos ricky tic might have something to do with it, however.
I saw him this past week or last (Morning Joe) taking shots of some alcohol with the hosts.
The Monday before that, he had held up a bottle of *dark* rum that he promised to drink with Morning Mika on Wednesday. The bottle he brought was clear. And if you listened closely, you can hear Mika saying “it’s water”.
Bobby, why do you spell McBush that way? Just curious
Beyond any other domestic consideration, I have four dispositively admonitory words for you:
Treasury Secretary Phil Gramm.
Okay, I get that BUSH CLINTON BUSH CLINTON would be too repetitive, but a McCain win would break that wouldn’t it?
I guess I’m not getting your point.
And, to be sure, I am a Obama supporter…now.
sorry again,
i didn’t find the right keys first,
this was for you,
sorry for the delay,
i had to get up off the floor!
that was in response to this graphic.
uh oh
going down again in peeeeeelz of laughter!
What did they do to Lamont’s campaign? They backed Lieberman in the primary as did Obama.
They did fund-raising for Lamont in the General as did Obama.
In other words, both Clinton and Obama reacted pretty much the same in both the primary and general election in regards to Lamont and Lieberman.
I’d invite you to consider how necessary LBJ was to JFK.
Whatever it takes to stop the continued domination of our country by McBushco.
We can’t afford to lose.
I blame the crappola during her campaign on her handlers mostly. No one is perfect.
In the end, it is up to Obama. McCaulliffe just signaled a thumbs up for her as VP.
We can’t afford to lose. No way. Failure is not an option. The future of the entire world depends on it.
Even Pat Buchanan is praising the speech
In America, we do NOT DO dynasties.
Thank God and the American Way!
It’s part of my ongoing goof on Bu’ush, and the Repu’ublicist Party.
i.e., as in Ba’ath party. Ba’athists. Is it really that obscure? Hmmm….
The centrist corporate media pundits on Washington Week last night were commenting about that very thing. McShitForBrains is not comfortable behind a podium whereas he’s energized by the town hall setting. I think Obama is comfortable in either.
We’ll see.
Supreme Court Justice John Clarence McAlito
Nooooooooooooo
[holds up silver cross]
Well that is a relief.
New thread upstairs.
Yes it will be! My biggest fear is Obama being seen as beating up on a defenseless old man.
He’s got all the ammo he needs to shred him to bits today, right now.
Bomb, bomb Iran, stay 100 years, “I don’t know much about economics”, etc.
It’s an absolute embarrasment of riches.
thanks, I didn’t catch that connection
maybe it is my brain that is obscure
Another way of saying: Economy Crash and Burn
they would have to vet bill. i don’t know about you but I don’t think Bill will be able to do it (explain the funding for the library, paid speaking engagements overseas by some well interesting folks, etc.)
A very astute and correct observation.
Hell, ya got me doin’ it for a week or so now.
Here is the post over at TPM….
Silent Majority
That directly goes back to the HRC campaign… period
missed the zed but Neiwert has yet more hillary
e.g., as in Bu’ushists differ from Ba’athists precisely how?
707
Yeah, and we do not torture and everyone has the same rights and freedons. Ha! I say.
This one is still serviceable as well:
http://www.bgladd.com/The_Disgracer_in_Chief.jpg
I thought there was an appearance with Bill and JoLie after the primary.
Regardless, the Bill allowed JoLie’s campaign to ask “are you a Bill Clinton Democrat or an Al Sharpton Democrat?”
You’re right about Obama. He provided almost zero tangible support to Ned, unlike Maxine Waters. But, look at what demographic Ned lost and compare it to the demographic that Obama is weak in.
That was LOL funny!
Could you people please stop being so interesting so that I can get on with the errands I have to run today?
I mean come on, have some respect for all that beautiful sunshine outside!
Couldn’t donate as much as I wanted. I forgot that we gave already for June to Obama and we’re almost at the cap for primary. oh well, every little helps.
If HRC is not the VP, whatever the reason, it gives McSane space to gradually claim that HRC really doesn’t support Obama.
I believe their last appearance together was about a week and half prior to the primary.
We don’t behead people? Or if we do we have successfully concealed that fact up until this point?
btw, perhaps it is precisely because of my too often injured, drug addled, alcohol soaked brain, but I did catch the drift of McBu’ush. Now I’m worried, if I wasn’t already under the care of the appropriate medical professionals, I would see to it that I was at the earliest opportunity…
Now, GO Big Brown, and GO Celtics.
;)
He also claims that he is a maverick but we know that is a lie aas well. they are going to say what republicans say but that does not impact how we run our campaign.
I don’t mean to minimize the serious baggage Bill brings on a lot of issues including the ones you mentioned.
Based on the info I have right now (which is almost nothing), I just think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
I’ll aggressively support the Democratic nominee for POTUS and their VP candidate, whomever it is.
Ba’athists did that? Linky?
You can I believe donate up to $2,300 per candidate for both primary and General election.
That is, you can give $2,300 to Obama for primary, $2,300 for Clinton for the primary, $2,300 for Edwards for the primary, etc.
Plus $2,300 for Obama in the General. (and Barr and Nader and McCain if you’re so foolish)
OMG …. On CNN David Gergen is calling McBush the RFK of this race….. that is so wrong in may ways
As do I. But Bill brings much baggage but Bill is not the reason to my opposition. i would rather not have Hillary as VP. But i don’t think they would agree to the vetting
And Lieberman lost by ?? nine points????
Without Bill and the $350,000 Lieberman used from petty cash to buy votes, he loses by 15 points or more.
That margin of loss in the Democratic primary makes it much, much tougher for JoLie to run as an independent.
I’m a big tent guy, but I think your comments tend to obscure that Bill and HRC have not been supportive of liberals.
Right.
Thanks and please feel free to ignore this request.
I’m interested in why you don’t want HRC as the VP candidate.
No biggee, just interested.
((Wobbs))
Review HRC and Bill and how they function and tell me that Obama would be able to run the type of campaign that he as been AND govern, run the White House as he sees fit with them there in the VP slot? [they cannot be separated]
Bill will be a distraction and I really do not think HRC will bring anything to the ticket that FITS with the way & method that Obama has been campaigning … IF she had not spread all the nastiness I might consider her but not now.
Nice catch.
Gergan is DC’s all time leaker. Everyone uses him to leak certain talking points to see how they fly.
This would be a great one for Carter, or one of the Kennedy’s or some older Democrat to repeat Lloyd Bentson’s classic : YouTube.
Can you imagine the disillusioned Republicans that will be available to Obama???? They’ll blow the Clintonistas out of the water.
All excellent concerns.
IMHO Democrats have to put winning first.
Second, Bill’s going to be a distraction in any Democratic administration whether HRC is 1st lady or not.
I’ll be interested to learn more about the quantification of the value that other candidates bring. I am extremely ignorant at this point.
Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification.
There are several schools of thought….. One is that there hasn’t been a white southern man on the winning ticket in decades (maybe this century) … that is why Edwards is a choice……
Then they review what can that person bring to the ticket….. a state, region…. a demographic…… Richardson & the Gov of Kansas…
Also need to evaluate what will happen if that VP pick leaves their office, what will happen to that state/congressional seat ….. Also to look to where you want the party to go as the VP pick just might be the next President after Obama…. in 8 years…
Then there is the rounding out the ticket…. someone with military/foreign experience that would enhance Obama’s assets…
In the end, we do not know what the selection criteria are so it is all guessing….
FWIW, take a guy like Noriega in Texas up against Corwyn. I don’t know that Obama will do him much good. Now if Hillary and Bill go down to Texas, that’s media, cash, and big crowds flowing into Noriega’s campaign. Maybe Bill and Hillary will do it anyway, if so that’s great. I just think they will be more committed to campaigning for more Democrats if HRC is on the ticket. Texas is just one example, we’ve got lots of liberals on the ballots in many states.
I would never ignore what is a fair question to ask. Her style is much like that of the old dem machine and part of the reason that I backed Obama was his desire to govern differently. i think that his Vp should fit with that message and I don’t think (my opinion) that Clinton fits in with that message. She is very intelligent, tenacious, etc. and I beleive that we would be better served with her as Health Secy or in the senate.
(((Margot)))
bom dia querida. how have you been?
Thanks.
Much appreciated.
Were you meaning to say that there hasn’t been a winning ticket without a southern white male on the ticket?
If you consider Bush/Cheney southern…. ya…. Bush I was considered southern too……
Bush/Cheney – both from Texas (ya that is against the constitution but that should of clued us in to their law breaking)
Clinton/Gore – AR & TN
Bush/Quale – TX & have no clue
Reagan/Bush – CA & TX
Carter – GA
I’m glad that Hillary pushed the Obama for Pres theme so hard, but…Chelsea! All I know for sure is that Chelsea is the cat’s Pajamas.
FWIW, that’s why Cheney “officialy” moved back to Wyoming.
Quayle was from Indiana (altho sometimes considered a southern state in attitudes
I’m voting for McCain the end….I don’t have to pay any more attention to this campaign. Feels good.
you vying for McCain points to get the tote bag or are you for real?
Don’t forget to send him lots of money too.
Per Amy Goodman over at Democracy Now U.S. Funding Iraqi Militias Led by Baathists As Part of Counter-Insurgency Operation. The El Salvadorian model worked so well before.
Oh why bother watching the debates you know you are going to say “OBAMA IS GREAT OBAMA IS GREAT MCCAIN SUCKS MCCAIN SUCKS” You might just as well and go out and support some charity for the time you spend watching a debate that you have a preconceived decision about already. I mean Obama could say he is the anti Christ and you would still vote for him so why bother watching or lsitening! Really..
Hmmm.
Interesting that you chose the name you did, yet proclaim your willingness to vote for more of the same.
Same economic policies.
Same war and (lack of) diplomatic policies.
Same spying on US citizens policies.
So, please inform me, why does Bush suck but mcCain is worthy of your (and my) vote?
You people are unbelievable….last week Clinton was satan incarnate now she is the oracle speaking from Mount Olympus…you people are really a joke. And you really underestimate McCain…as you may recall no one gave him a chance to be the nominee for the Republicans…He had no money he had weak support but surprise he won the nomination…Remember Dewey
Poignant.
Our condolences.
“You people”
Hahahahahahahahahohohohohohohohoheeheeheeheeheeheehee….
I just have to find the rock these trolls crawl out from under.
Well Bush does suck and I have had that title for years.
And McBuush is no better.
Eu sou bem, e você?
;)
beleza *g*
One answer fits you….. TROLL
Hillary did what she had to do. Now we have to defeat the Bush/McSame/wingnut right. Any woman who is (okay, understandably) angry and disappointed should take a minute thinking about what reproductive rights, workplace discrimination/harrassment rules, and child care are going to look like if we have 4-8 more years and 3 more Supreme Court nominations like those we’ve had lately.
I’ll sum it up in one word: coat-hanger.
Progressive principles are more important than any one person. No politician will be able to effect change w/o all of our support.
I totally agree with you. One thing I’ve learned over the last 7 years is that ‘we the people’ must be vigilant. We must continue to make our voices heard, carefully watch issues and press our representatives to represent ‘we the people.’
Hillary wasn’t my candidate but I do respect her determination to finish the race. I don’t think it did any damage to Obama or the Democratic Party. Watching MSM cover the primary was a real eye-opener. Their wall-to-wall coverage over the trivial and complete disregard for substantive issues was astonishing.
One thing is sure, nobody will ever accuse them of being professional journalists.
Hillary did crack the ceiling. I’m hoping that in the not too distant future a female candidate will break through and take the oath of office.
You might want to take a lesson from my comment that you reference.
See, I state an opinion then, unlike you, support it with facts.
I support Sen. Obama. I think he will do far better that Sen. McCain in the upcoming debates, town hall style or otherwise.
I think I’m allowed to have that opinion.
It’s not my fault that McCain looks and acts like a grumpy old man.
