Let me try to unconfuse you about why I seem to want to bash people over the head with this find this so important.

It is historic.

It has never happened before in over 200 years.

A black man with no money, or family name, beat Sen. Clinton, Pres. Clinton, the Democratic political establishment & their big donors.

He also happened to be the more progressive of the two remaining candidates, and voted against the war.

I think all of that deserves one post, that’s all.

I would invite you to try and find a safe way to spend some time with teenagers in a school who takes a majority of its students from people who had ancestors who were slaves. Obama’s ability to speak in a European American dialect is frequently frowned upon by people who had ancestors who were slaves. There is more stratification within those Americans who had ancestors who were slaves, than is commonly assumed.

Way, way ahead of you.

I have a good friend who is a principal of a school with such a demographic, and he holds up Sen. Obama’s candidacy as an example of what these children can become.

I visit his school often, on career days, or to have lunch.

The pride these children have in this historic occasion is something to see, and hopefully will make a positive difference in some of their lives.
