McSame is running a new ad in battleground states today — his first of the general election — that has this pointed smackdown of the Commander Guy:
"Only a fool or a fraud talks tough or romantically about war," McCain says in the ad.
Since we’ve heard nothing but "bring ‘em on," "smoke ‘em out," "dead or alive" from The Decider pretty much non-stop since 2001, we all know who the fool is.
But what’s great about this is it hits the same day McSame is simultaneously claiming that he won’t run away from Bush.
"I’m not trying to separate myself," he said. "I’m trying to point out my own record and my own plan of action to solve our housing, energy, economic and national security challenges."
Um, so, calling Bush a "fraud" isn’t trying to separate yourself from him, McSame?
More straight talk from the Maverick.
UPDATE
In case you missed it, this new bit of foolish tough talk from the Fraud-in-Chief:
"Kick ass!" he quotes the president as saying. "If somebody tries to stop the march to democracy, we will seek them out and kill them! We must be tougher than hell! This Vietnam stuff, this is not even close. It is a mind-set. We can’t send that message. It’s an excuse to prepare us for withdrawal."
"There is a series of moments and this is one of them. Our will is being tested, but we are resolute. We have a better way. Stay strong! Stay the course! Kill them! Be confident! Prevail! We are going to wipe them out! We are not blinking!"

ooh, ooh. I read and I got zed?
I know, I know, Zed is dead. But it is still a fun legacy.
Show Some Respect.
no zed? damn!… had to sign back in.
Calling Preznit Pretzel Fellater out on charges of Chickenhawkery? Impressive, but I still wouldn’t vote for the guy for dog catcher.
no it ain’t, now u gotta go tell down thread ;)
McCain ain’t Able!
mcsame is a fuckin’ idiot
It’ll be tough to run from Bush when Jeb is on the ticket as VP.
Er, that’d be nice for us but — na ga happen.
McSame has become adept at talking out of both sides of his mouth.
Obama will shred him to pieces.
Bob in HI
I’m not gonna do it! You can’t make me. neener neener
I love me some mscame and I want to buy the golfware, the horsey-set ware and the mcsame jocky statuary for my front yard.
that ought to tell the naybors where I STAND!
He ‘appropriates’ Obama’s logo and slogan and then separates (but not so much) from shrub. Identity crisis much?
Yeah, I think that the Bush “family name” is trashed for at least a century in politics (longer, hopefully). I guess they could change it to Arbusto with the hopes of snookering someone, somewhere. Oh, wait. Been done.
No, not much. A lot.
New logo is here.
lol, runs back to late night to grab a suz * lQQk *
lol, you should put a straight talk express crusing off into distance on there :)
HA! seriously, the republicans can’t really be running McCain as their candidate. They will sub in someone else last minute, right?
I want someone (besides Jon Stewart) to pull that crazy smile out of McInsane’s Loosiana speech, the one with the chuckle at the end that says, “hee, hee I just said it right,” and use that in a “do you want this idiot to answer the red phone at 3am?”
Letterman joked last night that Hillary still thinks she has a shot at the GOP nomination.
It might happen. If the Bush family thinks McCain’s going to win, then they put Jeb up because McCain won’t last more than one term. If the Bush family thinks McCain’s going to lose, they put Jeb up to get him on the national stage, making sure that McCain takes the blame for the loss. Either way, they have to somehow get as much of the stink of George W. off of the family legacy as possible.
O/T
It is Friday and still no congratulatory thread for the presumptive nominee.
/observation
So, I wonder how the 28%rs will take to McBush bashing their hero?
* lQQk *
yep
oh dear.
I seriously can’t believe this is who they are running *putting on tin foil hat* Who are they REALLY going to run?
well, that’s why we need to make every thread congratulatory;)
Go Obama!
McSame Sucks!
I’d be willing to bet several mortgage payments that a Bush will not be on the ticket.
Given that they get their news via Pony Express, the blowback will some time in emerging.
I’m a lifelong Democrat but I’m voting for war hero John McCain. You should too.
(The totebag is mine, all mine.)
not to mention points further south!!
FunnyD
Hi, Bob in HI, nice to see ya.
Yeah but it is not balanced to have threads about Hillary post Primary and to all but ignore the presumptive nominee on his historical nomination.
(But I will do as you say as well)
Congrats Senator Obama on becoming the presumptive nominee
Did you already get the beach towel? maybe you should see what golf gear you can get.
complete lack of original thought, much? Oh wait…gotta have a mind for that. Nemmermine!
FunnyD
As I recall mention was made yesterday that before words such as “suspend” or “concede” and “support” were heard (probably tomorrow?) we were supposed to try to be patient.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEHMVdncYuI
I’ll second that, woobly …
Congrats Senator Barack Obama on becoming the presumptive nominee!!!
I gave up golf for the war.
That has to do with Clinton’s campaign. Given that there were posts about what Hillary was going to do now that the primary was over and Obama had the nomination, I fail to see why a congratulatory post to the victor should wait on the other campaign to concede.
too similar to the gulf war
LOL
WANT!!!!
OMFG, if I could find a McSame jockey statue it would be in my front yard so fast!
Tom Tomorrow:
Agreed.
One of the few reasons (beyond the obvious stench to the Bush name in general nationwide) to have Jeb on the ticket is for Florida.
But Jeb’s name in Florida these days is not much better than his brother’s name with the rest of the country.
Here comes Jeb!!!
Hi, Wobbs
I think you’ve got a point. But I think making it is all you/we can do for now. That and maybe visit any congratulatory threads that our fellow commenters have posted at their own blogs. Since the blog owner/management has the final say. If they’ve made their conditions for such a post known we’re extremely unlikely to see one until those are met, and prodding only seems to make things worse.
Congratulations, Senator Obama. You make me proud of us 40-somethings and very hopeful for the country.
FunnyD
oooooh. very love that video.
Four generations of Bush crooks – Prescott Bush; GHWB; Dubya, Jeb, Neil and Marvin; and now G P Bush the up and comer.
I wish you were right, voters with short memories and a crooked media have made it all a pleasing fairy tale.
photoshop-ortunity?
Alternatively, just get a regular one, add a pasty layer of plaster to the face, and paint it in StraightTalk Express colors/logos.
Ooh, what a fun project. Maybe you could even make the head bobble.
FunnyD
Not prodding. just making an observation. if there are certain subjects that are taboo, by all means let me know. i just didn’t think this was one of them
lol :)
little pig, little pig, let me in.
goes well with metal, eh?
Don’t forget the ladies, please… The distaff side of the Bush clan seems to have certain difficulties with pharmaceuticals, both legal and il-.
There will be many good things about Obama being president but fwiw, nothing will replace in my mind him backing HoJo up against the wall and giving him what-for. Wish I could have seen that. His twit-ness probably almost had a stroke.
Yes, they are going to REALLY run Senator McCain. He is easily their best candidate and has a reasonable shot at winning.
w3rd. even tho it is becoming a fish story ;)
wobbly, dear wobbly,
Please consider that we are discussing ‘politics’ and you shall have the answer …
Please forgive the familiarity, but I’ve come to know and respect you and can only urge patience, as you so often done for me, if Juno what I mean?
Soon, any day now … there shall be genuine recognition and appreciation, one hopes, of the historic and momentous turn our history may have taken and all the constitutent aspects of what that actaully means, in terms of possibility, and of real, genuine change, already taken place, will be enthusiastically embraced.
We stand at the threshold, not at a messiah’s behest, but because humankind has (unless I’m truly mistaken) looked into the abyss and seeing nothing but loss and destruction, is considering another path.
If nothing else, expectation has risen and shall not go happily, ever, back to the old, same, bleak and deadly pattern.
I think we might actually squeak through.
Got muh fingers crossed and my resolve is firm, as I know, is yours.
;~D
Patience, grasshopper.
No, I think you’re OK. Especially since you’re addressing the issue rather than getting personal with Jane or Christy or attributing bad motives to anyone. And since I also know that, having made the comment, _you_ won’t post it five or six times per thread, more shrilly every time.
*g*
FunnyD
Read yesterday that someone had it on film but could not, of course, tell what was being said. It also said that Mary Landrieu started toward them but saw what was going on and turned away quickly.
It is a mind-set to believe that a suffiecent amount of will will save a doomed position. One, by the way, that is terribly destructive.
Here’s a link to Jake Tapper’s blog, which links to a video.
Quote from the above:
Thanks, Marion. Aren’t you just dying to know what was said? I am.
Oh, dam. no you-tube? It didn’t make CSPAN? I’d have loved to see it, too. Have you seen a first-hand account anywhere?
And I notice he didn’t wait for anyone to give him permission to do that or to set fundraising rules for the DNC.
FunnyD
I appreciate your kind words but as I stated, it was an observation.
it just saddens me deeply that such a post has to wait. I don’t mince words or pepper my words with vitirol but I’m also always honest and that will never change
Is that a statue of McSame as a jockey, or in a …?
Never mind. I need brain bleach now.
exactly. It will not carry past this thread. I post it once a day until the post pops up.
I like the photoshopped image of Bush/McCain that KO uses on Countdown. See for example the June 4 segment #3, “McCain becomes a Changed Man”. The photo of “McBush” appears about 34 seconds into the segment. I’d like to capture that as a separate image.
Bob in HI
Surprisingly well. Just sent it to Mr. Snapdragon and the little bud, who will really like it (very sophisticated for his 3 years).
Is a great story and has giving me much more respect for our candidate :)
Here’s the McBush photo!
Bob in HI
lol! he’ll be rock’n out 4 sure!
I wait patiently but not silently, dear teacher *g*
Saying something good about Jeb in FL these days just might get you a poke in the chops. That said, we’ve got our equivalent of the national 28%ers here too. Some of them are flying a 50×30 foot Confederate battle flag at the intersection of 2 interstates. They luv’em some Jeb even if he isn’t a reb.
I would pay large sums of money…!
Clinton even concede yet or do “the speech?”
From your keyboard to the Ear of the Universe.
I think you’re right, if only because I feel like positive changes are happening in my own mind and heart in response, and that’s a necessary step toward changing what I _do_ in the world.
FunnyD
Surely not at “Malfunction Junction?”
I think McCain is trying to have it both ways — make a statement that obviously calls Bush a fool to anyone who isn’t a 28%-er, while winking to the 28%-ers that “you know I’m for the war, but I have to protest how much I hate war to get elected.”
I don’t think it’ll work; the issue this election isn’t about “war,” it’s about this war, and McCain has already made it all too clear where he stands on that. But if he wants to talk about war from now to November, that’d be just fine with me!
good one but looks much too healthy.
Tbogg, of course, has the video:
http://tbogg.firedoglake.com/2…..rman-2517/
“What ain’t no country I ever heard of. They speak English in What?”
“What?”
“English, motherfucker, do you speak it?”
No, but what does that have to do with it?
“Have it both ways” Yep – no wonder McCain and Joe “I used to be a Democrat” get along so well — it’s the same thing from both.
i know your not that dense.
Added to the things you mention about yourself, is the fact that you are correct regarding this ‘issue’.
(But we shall keep that observation, of truth, between ourselves, for others may well not agree, but, for the most part, it is only a ‘question’ of ’seemly’ timeliness, politically speaking, having mostly to do with feathers and their ruffledness)
What is heavier?
A ton of feathers?
or
A ton of lead?
I loved that movie and enjoyed seeing the clip again. Thanks
If McSame isn’t going to talk tough about war, does that mean he is going to talk sanely about it?
I’m not holding my breath.
Dense? Been called many things but not dense. I fail to see why the two are connected. She is suspending tomorrow and that will be the talk. But he became the nominee on Tuesday. I find it sad that it hasn’t been acknowledged. It wouldn’t have even been abig deal had there not been posts about what Hillary would do now that he was the nominee. If the acknowledgement is there that she has lost, what would hold up the post.
One possible explanation:
A congratulatory FDL post for one candidate or the other could be construed as an endorsement and, commendably, FDL has managed to remain neutral thus far. My hunch, though, is that we’ll see that post sometime soon after Saturday.
are the feathers and lead in a vacum with a cat?
It was an observation and an expression of disappointment. If that is not allowed, let me know. My observation has never been aimed at anyone in particular or been personal.
Wobblybits, I agree with you 100%.
Please, feel free to contuine to express yourself.
and the failure to congratulate could be perceived as the endorsement of the other.
I’m not going to observe…
Nope, the intersection of I-4 and I-75. On a piece of private property, the owner(s) of which say(s) the location is going to be a memorial to Confederate veterans. Call themselves Sons of Confederate Veterans. The flag usually goes up at a memorial AFTER the site is complete. The up side to this is we know who some of the bigots are because they’ve been all over the media defending the flag. Yup, we got some dumber ‘n a box a rocks here too. I say leave it up. Prolly bring out the vote of Obama-san.
OT/observation
Just an observation from an exhausted blogger who is sick and tired of people bitching about every aspect of the primary, including why we didn’t support “x” candidate, why we were shilling for “y” candidate (or “x” candidate or “z” candidate — take your pick, we got accused of shilling for all of them or trying to deep six them at one point or another), why we haven’t explored the evils of “x” (or “y” or “z” or all their evil minions or their plots and conspiracies, etc.), why we aren’t talking about the most important issue ever, even if it doesn’t have a factual support basis…and on and on and on.
The primary season just officially ended on Tuesday, there will be no official concession until tomorrow, the candidates themselves have asked people to back off and give them a little space…and when we try to honor their wishes and allow them to take a breath, people crab about that, too.
There are times when I do not want to bother blogging any longer because all the work that goes into it is never, ever enough…and this is one of those times, because it’s grating to be told you should write “a” or “b” when you are working your ass off (including on a lot of upcoming posts, some of which may include things about Obama’s candidacy) and dealing with tech difficulties and also on the road (which Jane and EW are, at a Free Press conference in MN this weekend) and trying to balance breaking news with deeper thought pieces and… Perhaps I’m just exhausted and crabby today, but honestly, can you let the people who write here actually do their own damned writing? Please?
Just a thought…
Well I dunno, but my eldest cat, Feurae, loves to have me vacumm him with the sweeper, and we do play with feathers. As to the rest, I shall have to lead you know …
lol :)
OK, I’ll bite. What’s with the cat?
So far as I’m concerned it is not merely allowed, but welcome … aren’t we here as mature, thoughtful people, to have discussion and explore difference?
More power to you wobbly!!!
My gawd…check out what someone figured out about the Michele O “tape”:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/…..827/531074
No bitching or crabbing came from me. i’m sorry if you felt that way but given the posts with regard to Hillary and in the interest of fairness I was disheartened not to see one regarding Obama.
i know muy place and will take it accordingly.
Thank you
Ding.
wow. thanks
Christy,
you are doing a great (and appreciated) job! Unfortunately, the majority of the people who are attracted to our side of the political spectrum are (to put it kindly) “overly concerned” about what others think, write, etc. particularly when it doesn’t correspond exactly to their views. Unfortunately, writing to this audience will wear anybody out!
kudos to you and have a great weekend!
If you want to talk about really pig-ignorant (sorry if I have insulted pigs, who really are intelligent animals…) one of the folks who work here came into my office this morning to ask me what I thought about Hillary leaving the race. I gave her my opinion, which was that it was a good thing for the party. Then her eyes got as big as sewer lids and she leaned over and whispered “But what will happen if there’s a black man in the White House?” I said it would be refreshing to have someine intelligent and articulate living there. She was practically gibbering and said all she could think about was “you know, those people, and Rodney King…” At which point my jaw hit my desk and it was all I could do not to hit her. I pray that she is not registered to vote…
I lived in Apollo Beach for a couple of years, so I do know the attitude well.
i let the lead out! lol

It’s not a “my place” sort of thing — it’s a people have said repeatedly in the comments that the concession doesn’t officially come until Saturday and the candidates have asked that we give them some space — and yet, that wasn’t enough for everyone to wait. The issue keeps coming up and, frankly, although your nudges have been polite, some have been less than so via e-mail and elsewhere.
I mean hoenstly, does anyone think we don’t wish Obama well? That we aren’t going to work our asses off to get him elected instead of McCain? That some congratulatory post can’t wait until Saturday when things are officially wrapped up in a more tidy manner? I just don’t get it — and I really don’t get it, given all the posts we’ve done before now on why the math favored Obama for months and any number of things we’ve written in support of various and sundry campaign actions got us nothing but grief from the Clinton side of the commenters.
And it may be because I’m all primaried out at this point and then some…
I know you’re frustrated but I’ve held off celebrating anything until after Sat. These are politicians we’re talking about and I learned long ago not to trust them. In my convoluted little mind anything can happen between now and …. I’m not gonna assume that Clinton is going to do anything until I hear it from her own self.
I never dreamed that Obama would say some of the things he said at AIPAC. I am still not a happy camper over that. I need to get a transcript and read the whole thing, plus some of his “clarifying” comments since.
I don’t believe anything they say. I rely on action for results. I can talk my lawn bein’ mowed til the sun falls from the sky but when I look out the window it still needs to be mowed.
I think it’s the heat. My Rx: The ever wonderful Ann Miller with “Too Darned Hot”

Thanks. Damn, I’d forgotten all about that.
Schroedinger’s cat.
I never said that, Christy. if you can find my comment, please show me. i simply stated my disappointment. As said, i’m sorry if you took it any other way. Never did I make it personal. I have never been nasty with regards to Hillary’s campaign (criticize yes but never nasty)
I also don’t get why it has to wait for Saturday. I can walk away fromthis and agree that we disagree and not in any way have bitter feelings.
Did I mention I’m a cynic and jaded?
Neither did Likuderman
that is the thing, I’m not frustrated. i’m disappointed but that was never based upon any belief that Christy or jane had ill will. it was never personal.
I have often pondered as to what opinion the cat may have had of Schrodinger.
Presunably, in some cat-centered universe, there is a thought-box with a Schrodinger inside …
I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you are trying to say with “I never said that.” Never said what? I don’t think I quoted anything specifically as you having said it, did I?
If you could clarify, I’d appreciate, because now I’m confused…
as far as chicken hawks I suppose everyone saw this;
from think progress
and this;
it would seem us progressives are not the only ones warning about martial law and a continuing bush adminstration, the fascist mouth pieces are preparing us phsycologically
hang on to hats, gonna be a rough ride
Well, the whisper campaign about Michelle Obama has landed on the home page of AOL, with an sort of frowny picture of Michelle Obama to accompany it.
Mission accomplished.
-G
P.S. At least the fundamentals of the economy are strong, right John and George?
I guess it’d depend upon the state of the cat upon opening the box.
The latter, i think, would depend upon whether Schrodinger kept kitty treats or not.
This son-of-a-bitch. You talk about a two-faced, forked-tongue, ass-kissing, back-stabbing, self-serving SOB. Short Ride’s picture is sure to end up in the dictionary next to some really derogatory word.
No, I never believed that and I have never said anything to that sentiment. I simply don’t understand the wait until Saturday but that is you and Jane’s decision. Agree to disagree on why or why not but inthe end, you two make the decision. As to why thhe anger is directed at me wehn I have been nothing but polite I hope is just primary fatigue. if not maybe you can explain.
If ya got seat belts, smoke ‘em!
We’re goin’ in …
This is going to be one hell of a ride.
Fun, too!
Did you read my link at #102? It uncovers the source of the fiction.
Wobbs and Christy.
Stop. Peace.
What’s the big damnn deal? All it is is a stupid blog, god, get over it.
What a nice listing of his few good points… [spit]
or a number of derogatory words ;)
i’m not going to even adress that, Raven
Fine. Peace and silence it is.
It wasn’t directed at you. As I clearly said in my comment above at 111: “although your nudges have been polite, some have been less than so via e-mail and elsewhere.” The “you” being you, wobblybits, whose nudges have been polite.
That was a general statement following it, regarding the other nudges which have been less so, as I also said. Maybe you misunderstaood where I was coming from on that — if so, sorry about that — but it wasn’t directed at you specifically, which is why I used “anyone”.
Oh, yeah, I was aware that the lack of a tape was the clue that there was no tape.
That tape sits on shelf next to a picture of Kitty Dukakis’ burning a flag.
-G
I think we are all just tired of all Hillary all the time every place you look. If she had decided not to keep the spotlight on herself and done the right thing none of this would have happened. At this point I don’t care what Hillary wants.
Understood. Thank you for clearing that up. I didn’t want either of us to walk away not understanding the other.
thanks, Christy
Its official.. the fraud and chickenhawk is at 25%. 25%!
http://www.pollingreport.com/BushJob.htm
McShrub’s bud is toxic waste… actually, probably radioactive toxic waste. Dow’s off 300 points today and the dollar’s plummeting. If this keeps up, I think shrub’s only safe harbor post January 2009 will be Paraguay. Assuming they still want him.
Oh good lord — 25%? Where’s Holden?
I continue to come here mainly for the overall superior (intellectual and moral) intelligence and relative civility, the things I learn about many, many major issues. Most of which far surpass in enduring importance the transient events of this campaign (not to say there’s no relationship, btw).
I once joined a Kenny Loggins Yahoo group, hoping to engage in meaningful discussion about the long career and voluminous work of this artist whom I so admire (notwithstanding the juvie dissing he has long gotten over his pop/movie hits).
But, No-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-oo-ohhhh!!!! Silly me.
It turned out to be a lame Kewl Kids Club wherein any post evincing less than total adoration got you immediately incinerated. I bailed forthwith. Just as I have bailed from (or got forcibly escorted from) other political blogs wherein anything less than total adoration of either HRC or Obama got you cremated.
We got a long way to go, and need to keep our eyes on the prize.
Very OT: speculators are quickly pushing up price of oil right now because bombing of Iran, probably by Israel, is immanent. Looks like Bush is going to do it – hang onto your hats.
Jon Stewart last night called it “OyPAC.”
LOL!
YaaHoo!
FWIW, I have no memory of any time previously when the leading challenger has immediately conceded the race on the night when the presuptimve nominee went over the top and I’m in my mid-fifties.
There has always been the dance where the challenger goes into “consultation with advisors, etc” to “determine the options.”
Kennedy did it in ‘80 and even took things all the way to the convention with far fewer delegates in comparison to Carter than HRC has now.
Jackson did it in ‘88. Hart did it in ‘84 and I believe Humphrey (and whomever the others were in ‘72) did it as well.
It’s normal.
umm… if we bomb ‘em now or suffer ‘em to be bombed by Israel, aren’t we looking at the prospect of another 1970s style OPEC embargo? 3 hour gas lines by November, ya know, with images of the attendant sitting at the front of the line with a shot gun, should just about cement McShrub’s fate. And that of the rethug party.
News You Can Booze:
Oil settles at a record $138.54 a barrel, up $10.75, on weak dollar and forecast that crude will hit $150 by July 4.

lol! that is a good one :)
John McCain hates war, but he loves military action.

Our IRAs are down 50 grand.
An attack on Iran will bring the world to the precipice of disaster if not right off the cliff.
Woe to the US soldiers in Iraq.
The nation is witnessing an end game, much like Adolph Hitler in his bunker calling the shots and sending imaginary generals into battle.
This is not a good development.
-G
Oh not to worry!
Steely-eyed John Conyers has already sent Georgie a letter, saying he’ll bring impeachment proceedings to the attention of the important people who matter and that Georgie will rue the day he evah wants to treat Iran like a frog and poppy’ man, Gates, so they say, ain’t about to let Georgie do anything quite that stupid until after Obama wins …
I’ve read that stuff in just the past couple of days.
Enjoy your summer, they say, if there is to be discontent, ’twill be in our winter …
Impeach now!!!
I am just so tired. I want Obama to get all the attention he has earned and deserves. I don’t dislike Hillary but I am tired of her. She ran – she lost. Don’t mean to sound angry because I’m not. I just wish we could have some peace about this and only she can do it.
Dave Sirota upstairs with a post
And let’s consider how well it’s worked for us:
1972, Nixon wins.
1980, Reagan wins.
1984, Reagan wins.
1988, Bush wins.
Ya figure that’s why huh?
And that is coming when she concedes officially tomorrow.
Things happen in their own sweet time, not necessarily on any schedule that we mere mortals can supply.
Regarding the oil…the oil companies have said that the value of oil is actually somewhere between 30-60 per barrel….the rest is just blue sky. Speculators are gonna lose bigtime when this bubble bursts.
Phil Gramm should be arrested for causing all of this via his Enron loophole.
Impeach the lot of them and throw them out now.
Does anyone else around here suspect that the maladministration is cooking the books on the economic data coming out?
It’s like the unemployment numbers slipped past the propaganda brigade or something. All the other numbers I’ve heard lately seem to be “better than expected”.
Oil up to record prices, unemployment up, IRAs down, bickering at the Lake…I need a drink. Can I get anyone else a Margarita…or a shot?
We want the world
and we want it now!
Pass the Patrone.
I used Democratic Party examples as I’m more familiar with them but I can assure you that the Republicans have done the same thing.
Reagan did it in ‘76.
Bush did it in ‘80
McCain did it in Y2K.
and I know the other Rs have done it over the years, I just don’t remember all their second and third place candidates off the top of my head.
I’ll take one of each!! It’s Friday.
I’d like a gin and tonic, please.
Of course he does. War requires accountability and congressional action and oversight. Military action just requires the pleasure of the president.

Distinctly possible on employment data, since there’s no direct cross-check on it. Falsifying data on fiscal aggregates is much more dfficult.. There will be heck to pay if they get doing it though, and the entire Wall Street community will go apeshite that’ll make all other public outcries over shrubscandals look like childsplay. Economic confidence in the system would collapse. In short, the ensuing scandal would be our Smoot-Hawley act, leading directly to a reprise of the the early 1930s. The only good thing that’ll come out of it would be that this is probably the one scenario that’ll drive shrubco out of office before their time and straight into orange jumpsuits.
