Fitz!!
It’s Eureka time!
Hi ES!
Hola!
I don’t know how to say Hola in Swedish. Sorry Lykke.
No hablo Swedish here either, ES. Cute tune though!
Aloha, ES!
Oh this is adorably good, ES!
Wonder if i could find Erland Oye on youtube. *goes to look*
Aloha, CT!
I played some Otis downstairs, so here’s some more:
Cigarettes and Coffee
I love those scandinavian blue-eyed blondes…! ;-)
kd
I recently discovered Lykke, alias.. She has several interesting songs on youtube and a new album coming out this month.
Hello in Swedish.
** When that stupid window pops up again, I’ll let you know what it rilly says.
Watch…now it won’t, ’cause I’m watching and I have friends to help. Everything seems to work that way.
Oh sweet! Love kd :-)
*knock on wood* the problems disappeared for me today.
Isn’t that the great mall in Milan?
She’s a cutie, ES.
donce, donce, donce
*g*
News at 10 pm….. trucker picked an stray cat at a rest stop….. had it for a while and then had to donate it to a wildlife refuge (by law)….. that cat was a baby Bobcat….
Did you increase the text size, Demi? Sometimes that will create a box if you’re on a mac.
Lefty on cigarettes and coffee…
LOL.. A summer dance that doesn’t make ya sweat.
Milan Italy?
That’s what it looked like to me. (The gal in the yellow and black…don’t have a clue about the gal in blue).
Here’s another fine Swedish product! ;-)
My favorite Coffee and Cigarettes song is by Johnnie Ray. Unfortunately, it’s not on utube.
http://www.postalservicemusic.net/
Now you’re talkin’!
We have a family of humming birds three feet from our bedroom window, and my wife has watched the mama feed the three babys twice now. We’re going to try to get it on video.
21 day countdown to my vacation…..
Not sure if that’s working, Chris.
ES, do you have it on vinyl, CD or MP3 or something? Make yer own YouTube and share :-)
Share it if you get it, wigwam.
Night all.
No mac. Windows, pc. old dinosaur.
okay.. here’s what it say’s
a script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. you can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.
And, Suzanne, I’m pretty sure it’s the New Comments script, ’cause when I say Stop, then I have to hard refresh to get the next set of comments.
*wink*
Where are you going?
Sleep well LooHoo.
that’s a new one to me demi – i’ve not had anyone complaining about that one
your operating system and java etc are all up to date?
Can you copy the script and put it into the text box for comments?
Questio for you, amigo.. Have a link to your favorite blog review of the whole AIPAC affair this week? Also, do you have a link identifying congresscritters with dual citizenship?
Which is awesome. I’ll have to look for it, ES.
Here’s a favorite of mine.
Erlend Oye–So Weit Wie Noch Nie
I play this one every now and then in SL too, at my gigs. The lyrics are part of an old german reel, that much i know. Erlend Oye did the remix. *grin* Probably one of the coolest things i’ve heard in a long time, so it’s a favorite i pull out when it suits.
Will do. G’nite Loo Hoo.
One has to pick a song, I think. Works for me here. But try again.
Paris, road trip through France to Milan Italy and then 10 days in Crete (yes again) ….
Sweet dreams, Loo Hoo.
that may be a bad thing – lard knows what a script comment would do to our servers
i think what she is getting is a box popup that is generic and does not give any info on the actual error.
sleep well loohoo
Oh, I see now. *doink*
I have the original box set of 45’s.. One of these days I am going to learn how to put audio (and add pictures) on yotube. Would help me a great deal since I have a sizable music collection which I am dying to share with the fabulous firepups.
I didn’t mean the code…. the text…. such as mySQL server not found …
Not congress critters, but Feith and Ledeen.
But I read that Rahm Emanuel worked for the IDF during the first Gulf War; I don’t recall in what capacity.
And you will come back with lots of pics to share, yes?
ES, that would be awesome!
Yep…. will have Elmore’s puter and 4 G’s of flash cards…. that should do it…..
tack själv mycket, ES! (My Swedish great-aunts and uncles used to say that but i don’t remember how to pronounce it.)
g’evening, all you fine Firepups!
The mister say’s reasonably so…Elliot said the other day she gets it sometimes.
It’s not doing it here and now, usually at the end of a thread…i dunno. I don’t get that message anywhere else.
hmmm…well, thanks, tho. I just told Chris you were trying to help me, he said FDL is a resource hog. But, that’s just the computer guy talking, So Totally not meant as a slight towards FDL peoples, ya know. :)
I’m with Wang, we need pics when you return. Don’t forget to take pictures of the food and drink!
Hey grrrlll, how’s PoppaSpook doing?
all I remember is the first line of “Jesus loves me, this I know”… my grandmother was an Anderson…
From what I read it sounded like Rahm was the fellow running around AIPAC happier than a pig in chit this week.
And get recipes if you can!
*waves to ndfg*
tack själv mycket
What are trying to do.. blow up my spellchecker? /s
Well, I guess I could, but it’s not doing it now. I’d have to go back a thread…and, well I guess I’m too lazy to do that now.
I’m pretty sure it’s bath, tea and reading time for me.
And, Katy, I’m soooooo envious of your up coming vacation. I’ve been reading about your plans. But, envy notwithstanding, I’m so happy for you. :)
ok.. just had this picture of the actual coding error in a comment… thanks for clarifying
tell him to re-run his resource test… he may be pleasantly surprised if he hasn’t done so recently
been reading my “French Wine Road Tours” on my flights back & forth from NYC…great book, small but packed with info….. wine labels, wine & food combinations……
If you want recipes that means I will be hauling cook books home…. hmmm
I’d heard that was thoroughly debunked, or at least the fact he didn’t lose a knuckle while serving as he’d claimed, instead he’d lost it due to an accident in a Deli on a slicer…!
CT, I’d read that as well (a deli accident, that is) — can’t remember where I saw it.
So I started a local Eureka Springs Obama group on Obamas blog today.. Made a couple of friends today.
Regarding the AIPAC conference, this by Justin Raimondo will do: http://antiwar.com/justin/?articleid=12944
So, will Obama, wearing an Israeli flag in his lapel, underwrite Israel’s nuclear monopoly in the in the MidEast?
You know, after my year in Paris, I became a great cook. My family loved my eforts for decades.
He will not.
He is playing chicken with ChimpCo. It’s the best he can do right now.
Interesting take June 5, 2008 by Gershom Gorenberg”>here.. from a different angle.

Why does my big dog love my sugar cookies so much?
I just took a batch out of the oven.
Of course, he’s eat chit if he thought I made it. Ha!
I’m heading out folks.
Love and hugs to all of yousssssss.
((( all y’all )))
I don’t tell about it to generate envy…. I want to share it with everyone…. for years I had to travel variously through friends…
This year…. Elmore and I will be celebrating life….. that we are alive, in love, and have the money to travel now…… so many years I heard people say “someday”…… well it is now for me…..
Scarecrow posted this…
g’nite demi – dogs have a sweet tooth
cats like food slighty tart
G’nite demi.
((( demi )))
My cat loved ice cream. I guess our four-leggers have a sweet tooth ;-)
Aloha, demi!
Boy you guys are SLOW here it is 70 + comments and know one Dugg this Post…. You know what to do! Besides ES appreciates it:>)
Good for you and Elmore, I say :-)
ES- well, this would be a somewhat pricey start, but keninny at DWT had the same concerns about his vinyl opera collection, and I found this link for him a good while back. He said “uh, no thanks” ;)
http://www.hammacher.com/publish/71860.asp
Oh I’m sorry I used the E word. I know that that’s not what your were trying to generate. I do. You’re a really nice person. Sometimes I feel like I could be sitting with you, sharing coffee in that beautiful Arizona backyard.
I’m very happy that you and Elmore are celebrating.
Celebrate On!!!!
where were ya dood – i dugg julia’s after it was up for an hour and was the first!
Do you know a good website?
Enjoy! Four years later, I’m still reveling in my first European adventure to Italy for my daughter’s wedding. Travel is good for the soul. I’m also hopeful that once we ditch the chimp that decent Americans will go forth to try to re-establish good will in the world. Travel on!
And, good karma back at you, buddy.
*waves at wdd* PoppaSpook is in ICU but not in danger, his diabetes/blood sugar is all over the map so they’re gonna keep him there til they have several days baseline to study. Then he’ll go to nursing home for couple of weeks to get diabetes, diet, and meds stable plus have some rehabilitation so he can get in and out of wheelchair and car. Then he comes home. Of course, all this could change tomorrow *g*
Cooking dinner + eating dinner… shrimp with veggies and pasta…. tossed with garlic, shalots, peppers, and mushrooms!
Thanks.. I actually have all the software and domahitchies I need.. I just need to figure out how to make it work..)
Good to hear it’s not threatening.
Will you be trekking back to get your stuff while he’s in care?
*waves at katymine* my grandma was a Martinson and she taught me how to count to ten in Swedish. My grandson is not impressed *g*
Letterman….. WH staffers use the promise of waffles to get GWB to do something….. OMG…. think of that…
Heh, fellow luddites unite! Is there a manual…? ;-)
I made a huge effort to shop and cook like a pro, and raised two children who can cook like professionals (green cooks!).
how do ya know if its the right stuff ya need? what does one need to do that?
I have a stack of manuals! Might as well be printed in Madarin. It’s embarrassing.
Wow! Excellent. Thanks.
My aunts-married last name….. Nelson, Mattson, Olson, Carlson, and add the Anderson…. pretty much hit them all…
Several kinds of software.. On mac, Toast or Bias Peak.. and all the connection cables between the gizmos.. And the know how..)
yep, tho things keep changing day to day but it seems drs are finally on right track with PoppaSpook. Gets kinda complicated at age 92+. If things go as planned, will dash back to Minneapolis next week and get ‘er done.
Don’t ya mean Mandarin? Heh, where does one start, eh? ;-)
now i understand it perfectly
Glad you liked it too. I missed ordering Nixonland in time for the FDL book salon.. May have to order it anyway.
Oh the horror of it ES you haven’t learned to RTFM…. Oh my god how how did you got this far in life??
And if his nurse has any sense, she’ll take him up on his proposal! *g*
Thanks for a great night, pups. I’m going to hit the feathers.
That too. *g*
God bless, NDFG! I’m perplexed as to why my Grandma passed away when she basically only suffered from a broken hip… She was in fine health for her 92 years… 8-(
g’nite wangdang
Aloha, wdd!
((( doodle ))) G’night grrrlll!
I have no idea.. In my own defense I can assemble anything, no matter how awful the manual might be.. Computers/software, when starting from scratch just befuddle me like nothing else.
There is a high death rate from hip fractures… in the elderly…. for multiple reasons
My Grandpa began his decline after he broke his hip in his late 80’s; Alzheimers only added to the situation :-(
I’m aware of that statistic, but so soon afterwards…?
Abe McCain
My family was also Scandanavian….got the Rasmussens, Ohlsens, Jensens, Wolffs, and lots of other new-comers to the USofA. I laugh when I realize that Barak Obama goes way farther back than my late 1900’s immigrant familys. Who’s the ‘real’ American? Glad I don’t have certain American history — and okay to have what I do have. One of the things I like about being a Californian is that we don’t have all that slavery stuff. (Not to deny what was done to Native Americans, of course, buy my family was too late to carry that mantel also.) I’d love to play up Barak Obama’s American history. Too bad his grandma isn’t available to be trotted out like McCains. (Joking! — but it would be nice to know more about her.) she helped raise a nice young man.
Read The Fucking Manual
The first thing they teach you ion military electronics school… Now as for software programs they all basically do similar things just a little differently…
The biggest complication from a fracture is a fat embolism from the trauma of the fracture….
{{{CTuttle & family}}} unfortunately, it seems elderly folk do not survive broken hips. So far no one has figured out why.
that means instead of a blood clot it is fat that goes through the blood stream and hit the lungs… causing death of lung tissue…
Thanks, NDFG! Katy, a fat embolism? I”ve heard of blood embolism…
thanks for lending your expertise, katymine! One of the things i love about the Lake, the wide-ranging talents the Pups have collectively.
Heh, ya anticipated my question…!
wiki on fat embolism.
Fat embolism
Howdy, AK! Best wishes for your dad…! *g*
Wifey-poo wants me to do an errand… I’ll be back!
Ok… it is after 2 am EDT…. and have been up since 5 am EDT…. even IF I am on MST right now….. should scoot off to bed….. Nite everyone….
thanks! we are much more hopeful now that the doctors realize the blood sugar issue is serious.
g’nite katymine
I’m out, too. G’night everyone, and thanks ES :-)
g’ nite LL
Good sleep[y ones… don’t forget we all have a date Hill tomorrow :>)
Good sleep[y ones… don’t forget we all have a date WITH Hill tomorrow :>)
Dam I hate it when I do That
g’nite ll
Hey NDFG? How old are your daughters? *blinks* Quite a bit younger than me, but i’m also tail end GenX. I love seeing the enthusiasm for those that should be even more apathetic about politics though. I read through your post at the Safehouse. ^_^
Mostly i’m glad to see that the color blind attitude i have isn’t uncommon anymore. But it’s still got a long way until it’s the normal way of thinking here. Such a long road ahead for us all.
Students banned from protesting Michael Chertoff at Rice University
by Owls and Cougars Against the Border Wall Friday, Jun. 06, 2008 at 9:58 PM
Seems it took us longer to learn the lessons we have learned TO be Color Blind than this crop young’ens … very happy to see that progress has been made!!
First Amendment in play much in Houston?
That quaint old thing? Nah.
I guess old Chertie boy couldn’t take the pressure of what, half a dozen protestors? /s
I guess the Constitution is as ‘quaint’ as the Geneva Conventions. And who is going to lead the charge? God, let it be Obama. I don’t see anyone else stepping up.
mcsame wants to repurpose guantanamo as a “free speech zone”…
Yup. My adoption as a child in the 80s was crazy enough. Now it’s not so uncommon but it’s still hard because of the outdated and dinosaur social services systems nationwide. But because of my adoption i’m also less prone to judge by color and more by attitude of people. If they get arrogant and rude, i don’t like ‘em. Who cares what color you are, rude is rude. *shrugs*
This later generation has had even more opportunity to mix with all types of skin tones. *grin* It bodes very well, even with the aspects of thug nation that we still have to heal. That’s going to take even longer to shake than the racial issues, methinks.
my daughter, Teh Pop Princess, who went to Obama’s speech on Tues. nite is 21. Her group of friends is a mini-UN *g* but they all luurrrvvvs their hiphop and dancing. and Obama! my oldest will be 25 next month, she couldn’t go as she’s all caught up in moving. She went to Obama’s speech in Minneapolis in January (20,000 attendance) with my youngest, they were both practically levitating afterward.
It does my heart good to see the color blind attitude becoming more prevalent, or if not blind to it, appreciating and savoring the differences we all bring to the tapestry of life.
By the way, i’m multiracial so my adoption by a caucasian couple caused the Michigan DSS to go into apopolexy and to make it hard to do every step of the way. Took 3 years to get it all said and done. I was four and capable of telling the judge that i was where i wanted to be (and did so too!)by the time the final papers got signed. *grin*
Insightful. Yep, my kids also are so much more open — they just don’t carry a lot of baggage. My daughter helped me to understand why gay marriage mattered, for example. I just didn’t get it. She just couldn’t imagine why I wouldn’t. Lots more work to do — for alot of us. Growth is stretchy! Sometimes we don’t do it so easily.
Not quite sure how I feel about this one.
On the one hand, it’s a free speech issue. On the other hand, it’s Max Hardcore, the most disgusting person in porn, so it’s really hard to feel any sympathy for him.
Good for you and it seems you have grown up to be a role model for the young ones..
There is a long way to go for society to get past prejudices of all kinds including CLASS…. I know the rich say there are no classes in America butt give me a break!
But in much funnier news, a lame, principal approved, senior prank got pranked.
Porn is how Uncle Lieber-Sam will attack internet neutrality, imo.
sympathy for him just we need to have equal justice and not this agenda justice that seems to be happening a lot these days!
You probably think his attack will be motivated out of disgust. But I think it will be envy.
Aah, I see some pups departed… Adm(ret.) Fallon was on Now with Brancassio…
Well, it does kinda seem we’re limiting our classes. Gonna be rich and poor soon. People still think they’re middle class, but when they lose their home, owe enormous credit card debts, see their job off-shored, etc. ….. well, we’ll see what class comes to. I didn’t like the stock market today…..at all!
Ya think? I’m trying to stay on top of how they are going to attack internet neutraility. Didn’t occur to me that it would be porn.
alias! wow! I have not been dropping into FDL all that often, but when I read a comment like yours, I know why I do! xxoo
Probably, and far too many in that industry, Max Hardcore especially, are too self-absorbed to bother looking at the big picture. It’s as if guys like him want the government to come after them. Feeds his copious ego.
Nor the price of Oil… gas here is @ $4.35 at the
cheapestplaces. It won’t be but hours when it goes up again…. They can’t change the signs fast enough! It’s almost Dickensian in the gap, all we need now are debtor’s prisons… I see that we’re now up to 2.3 million behind bars…
Porn and or national security… Boogie men are the best way to “help us” give up our freedoms, no?
the fly in the ointment for an attack on internet neutrality is google and wimax. google’s survival depends on free access and they own a lot of dark fibre (unused fibre optic networks built in the first dot-com boom and unused, thus ‘dark’) and have serious investments in wimax (think wireless internet but with much larger range). bottom line, if the telcos and cable companies try to shut down the free internet, google may activate their stuff and tell em to go jump. i’d love to see that!
Unfortunately, there’s not going to be many jumping to Max Hardcore’s defense. The guy was the perfect person to go after, opening up the doors for the tamer stuff, and from there, who knows where they’ll stop?
Sounds nasty. Forgive me if I don’t do a google on him. /s
I had an epiphany on a solution for that. At least a temporary boost. Zero out all personal and small business debt. And do it every ten years. Mortgages, car loans, credit cards, small business loans, medical bills, wipe the slate clean. It’d do a hell of a lot more to stimulate the economy than a one time check for $600 will.
Nasty is an understatement. I won’t delve into any details though.
I’m told that Google has bought up enough fiber around the country that they could set up their own Internet if anyone gave them static.
I happen to live near one of south California’s cheapest gas stations…..the lines are surprising. And I remember the odd-even days of the past. We’re well over $4 for the cheap stuff. But, hey! — fewer people on the 101. Plus-Minus.
My neo-con twin brother is a big advocate of debtor’s farms. What can I say? I’m still okay, and I’m also not afraid to hoe and weed and cook and clean. Jeez, this isn’t how I thought I’d be anticipating my later years. Weird.
The recent glitches at the Lake really had me squeamish! My concern, though I’m loathe to voice it, is that the thugs will trash the internet so that we cannot communicate with each other in timely manner. I suspect they’ll use Nat’l Security to shut it down if the populace gets testy. I hope google and others can overcome … but I have my doubts.
And, NO, I won’t fly naked! :)
in the law of moses, every fifty years all debts were canceled, all slaves freed, all lands sold returned to their ancestral owners. it was a “super sabbath” or jubilee. sadly, never actually was done, but it’s in there.
Can’t Wait… Next year when TV goes digital there will be bandwidth opened up between the channels and a new radio will take advantage of the unused bandwidth…. much faster speeds for uploading and downloading
thanks – i used to work for an atty who did porn defense in the 70’s in san francisco – the briefs i typed were an education
me three. and they almost bought a whole chunk of wireless spectrum too.
Sounds good to me, except I’d put it in the Constitution, and make it once every ten years.
I figure if anyone really wants to know what that scumbag is all about, they can read his wiki page or Google him. It’s really hard to fault the jury for finding him guilty.
I used to do some bankruptcy work….until I couldn’t stand it anymore. Folks would run up enormous debt, feather their nests, travel and enjoy things that I couldn’t afford. They didn’t care…..they were going BK. There has to be a balanced view. The current mortgage crisis belongs to the greedy mortgage folks but also the people who refinanced again and again and spent their ‘earnings’ — never believing that house prices could go down. It was freaky. And no regulation and stupid bankers and stuff. Makes me sick. But I come from old stock. Buy what you can pay for. Otherwise, do without. Damn.
Just in case this is helpful to anyone….

GAS PRICES IN YOUR AREA
A guide to the latest local gas prices and news
ok, pups, time for me to do that nasty just in case cleaning. g’nite all
Thanks VG!
nite suzanne
Evening folks. I just got back from the Coleman Hawkins Legacy Jazz Fesitval (Hawkfest). Good stuff. Need to go to bed soon.
g’ nite Suzanne
And — as to bankruptcy — the atty. I worked with would tell people that the bible said that it was every 7 years that one could discharge all debt….and that it wasn’t their fault. The only bankruptcy clients that I truly understood were the ones with medical bills that they really, really could never pay off. Credit card folks with jewelry, trips, clothing, furniture and evenings out just didn’t appeal to my sense of honor.
Night Suz… don’t clean tooo much… I mean how much can one person, a wittie bittie doggie(Token) and a cat make??
I know what you mean, some people just don’t give a crap about tomorrow. I don’t even have a credit card anymore, got myself into some trouble with my first and only one. Cancelled it, paid it off, never again.
Hi Al. Welcome back. Did they fire the right guys for that nuke flight? Have they really figured out what happened?
If you haven’t seen Scott Hortons posts this week they are well worth the time to read them.
Damn, lowest for my area was $4.27.
wigwam, i think they basically did. at the risk of blogwhoring, i did a ravings post here on it. Also, there is an article here behind a paywall that hints at my version of things. The real danger is an unprovoked attack on iran, and the xtianists in the air scouts were the best hope for that. booting them like this is a good first step.
Back in the day, one could get a tax deduction for finance charges on credit cards. Once that was gone, I figured I’d never pay a finance charge again. And I haven’t. I just don’t get having things one cannot pay for. Where did that thinking come from?! But we are in a world of shit — most of the people I know have a lot of debt. Few of the people I know have much in the way of retirement savings. I really cannot see this working out well.
Evening all.
And Arar remains on our no fly list. What are the odds he’d consider another US flight?
I extremely worried about the drumbeats of war on Iran…!
yep. saw your article at main and central. great stuff. awful subject, but great stuff.
Pentagon needs some serious house cleaning. Just too bad there’s no Hackworth or Smedley Butler to come in and do it. Not sure that Gates has the muscle to pull it off.
Thanks, high praise indeed…! *g*
don’t underestimate Gates. i am beginning to suspect him of having a conscience. remember he’s bush 41’s man, and only took the job because brent scowcroft begged him to. and brent is well respected in military circles, altho like any bushie he has his baggage…
my blushes. and please keep it up. we need these stories to get out. we can’t treat the wounded if we don’t know they’re hurt…
Talk about flights. $580 from LA to Bozeman. $340 LA to Boston. That doesn’t have anything to do with fuel costs, I think.
if you can get a flight. lots of service to smaller cities being outright canceled due to fuel costs.

I know. Harder and harder to get to my Montana girl.
not meaning to derail this thread with gas prices, but where are you? I was pretty shocked when I saw that CA gas prices (regular) in NoCal (where I once lived) are only about 20 cents more than here in ATL. Used to be a diff of $1.25+.
I’m in San Diego, right in the heart of Duncan Hunter’s district.
Good stuff! I’m ready to walk my neighborhood to help the folks understand the importance of this election…. and (smile) to talk about Obama’s long family history in the USA.
This doesn’t help the cause…
Would be nice if you’re right, but I’m pretty cynical about the possibilities.
And am I wrong about that or missing something? I thought Obama tried to just run as a guy with some smarts and some stuff to bring to the party. He got defined as the black candidate, but, gee, doesn’t it make more sense to see him as someone with a blended history. I don’t know, maybe I’m naive.
olmert is going under from a us-based corruption scandal and desperately wants something to distract the local media. but evenhe isn’t willing to bomb iran without ironclad guarantees of us support and right now he doesn’t have that or so the word on the street goes.
nite pups
cynicism is well justified at the moment. but the current firings do give me a small ray of hope.
That was uttered by one of the likely contenders…
Aloha, neuro!
ah, missed that. i do know that olmert has been talking up the attack in other places tho. and various chimpy supporters over here as well. that’s why it is essential we have the military firmly in good hands after the november election, because if it is the blowout that is shaping up, chimpy and the regent are gonna be desperate.

Yep, beating the war drums again, kinda puts to shame the ‘wag the dog’ scenario Bill was accused of during his impeachment trial when he launched the cruise missiles at the taliban training camps… Interesting, that we’re encouraging the Saudis to build nuke plants, and are denying Iran… Where did 15 of the 9/11 hijackers come from again…?
Aloha, Eureka!
why, they came from aye-rak! Fox news done tolled me sew!
So, how can the Israelis feel better about nuclear-armed Saudis than about nuclear-armed Iranians? IIRC, it was Saudis who toppled the WTC.
That is the $64,000 question! But, it’s being formalized as we speak! It’s only a matter of time before they start constructing them in Saudi Arabia…!
no, it was saudi revolutionaries that hit the WTC. first and foremost they want to overthrow the house of saud. us and israel are secondary targets. saudi arabia’s current regine might wish israel was out of the picture, but they know that’s not gonna happen and that if they get too frisky they’ll pay the price. that oil’s gonna run out far sooner than some saudis think, and then it will be payback time. so israel in the realpolitik calculation wants a stable, long-view regime in riyadh. they also want one in tehran, just not the current one.
and the nuclear stuff for the saudis right now is power plants. they are gonna run of out oil just about the time those nuclear plants come online. that’s why their sovreign funds are buying up as much of the west as they can, to give them income when the oil spigots run dry. they’re dreaming. once their oil isn’t needed it will be very easy to find a way to nationalize their investments back into the hands of locals.
So, you think they’ve past the ‘Peak Oil’ stage? I agree the wahabbists are bound and determined to topple the House of Saud, but, if they run out of oil it’ll be mighty difficult to keep their rule going…!
Well, my brain is getting mushy, I shall bid ya’ll a fond adieu! Aloha Oe!!!
When the oil runs out, their economy may well be composed of old money quickly fleeing the country, and minor, peripheral industry.
Fuckin chaos.
nite tuttle
peak oil is a somewhat slippery concept. the reason is that major new reserves keep being found, in places supposedly already picked clean. there is an growing suspicion in some petro-geological circles that oil and gas and coal are not compression by products of an oxygen ecosystem but rather the direct byproducts of an anearobic ecosystem living in the deep rocks, relics of the pre-oxygen era of the early earth. if so, they are continually refurbishing the oil and gas supplies down their as a by product of their metabolisms. it’s not a certainty at all but something is wrong with our understanding of the mechanism of oil and gas creation in geological terms. the decayed vegetable matter theory worked for the amount of oil we had found by 1950, but not for the amount we have found now.
but that is irrelevant for the saudis. they will be bone dry in 20 years, and at that point even if other fields are still producing it won’t help them. and yes, the current regime won’t hold power at that point unless they have income from somewhere else. thus the sovreign wealth funds.
anybody awake?
Awake and ready ’cause today is THE SATURDAY. Finally the ghost of chapaqua is going to be excised. And for early morning reading there is Robert Fisk Telling it like it is in the ME.
I guess Mr Baracka’s speech at the terrorist conference is not going over well with thinking people.
Good Morning! Raven are you around? It’s going to be 98 today in your area. I think we lucked out with the temperature maxing out at 96.
Pre-game at 11:00 EST, with Matthews and KO.
I guess Mr Baracka’s speech at the terrorist conference is not going over well with thinking people.
The get-tough-with Iran part did bother me. He left out the part about how he would talk to them first, and attack only as a last resort.
But I’m tempted to forgive the politician for being a politician. He needs help with the Jewish vote, and he needs to counter the R-pushed meme that he’s a far-left candidate. Two birds with one stone, and nobody (probably ever) gets hurt.
Saw Zbigniew Brzezinski on Morning Joe yesterday (and he’s still fucking brilliant), who said that to worry about Iran having a bomb is ridiculous, given that Israel has 150 to 200 of them, and Iran is very, very far from stupid. He also explained Achmadinnerjob’s true relevance in Iran, and in that particular country, being The President puts him at about the third tier of power, with no real power and no control over the country’s major ministries. He also talked about how the majority of Iran is pro-West, and that their president is largely an embarrassment to them.
In other words, much ado about nothing (well, except for the political arenas). ‘Thinking people’ should re-think.
Doctor Fine, Doctor Howard, Doctor Brzezinski – to the White House – stat!
Yep, on my way to the farmer’s market.
It would be great if Brzezinski played a large role in an Obama administration. Susan Rice also needs to do more talk shows.
Of course the problem is that the Likudites and their allies in the WH are in no way thinking people. They are bomb, bomb, bomb anyone people that seem to get their jollies from suppression, torture and murder. As for Mr Barracka and his pandering to the Israeli terrorists it may have sounded OK to an American market but for the rest of the world it just looks like one more yankee ready to beat the shit out of Arabs. Not good.
Susan Rice also needs to do more talk shows.
I guess you’re right, because I had to do a quick wiki-search on her. Evidently she is already Obama’s foreign policy advisor, and she sounds eminently qualified.
I still want Ziggy back in the game too, though.
So you represent “the rest of the world” huh?
I wish I had time to engage in this endless circular argument but I’d rather get bitten by fire ants. bye
but for the rest of the world it just looks like one more yankee ready to beat the shit out of Arabs. Not good.
No doubt that is true. But we’re talking about people unfamiliar with the strange rituals of an American Presidential race. If they’d just chill and wait for the *actual* policies of an Obama administration, they’ll be pleasantly surprised, I think.
More worrisome than BO, to me, was Israel’s PM in front of AIPAC, screeching that Israel is absolutely ready, right now, to attack Iran – and to go it alone if necessary. With no adults in this administration to talk him off the ledge – that’s some scary shit.
nice talking to you nomolos: I’ll be back later – got some research to finish.
NO but I do read Robert Fisk
I don’t worry so much about Iran getting a bomb. I do, however, worry about Obama/Clinton giving Bush cover to start a new war.
Good morning. Whassup?
The price of oil commodities!!
And nonoil commodities too.
And the temperature on the East Coast. In for some hot weather over the next couple of days. In the 90s in the midHudson. And humid.
Wow. What a bunch of kooks on WJ this morning. Q is what govt should do about economy. As are all on the fringe, from Murry Rothbart afficanadoes to those who think all assets should be owned by the govt. And very few in-between.
Good morning, pups. It’s Collins and Herbert today. Ms. Collins tells us “What Hillary Won,” and explains that by the end of those 54 primaries and caucuses, Hillary Clinton had made a woman running for president seem normal. Mr. Herbert says we should “Savor the Moment,” and that this election year has been a testament to the many decades of work by men and women to build a more just America.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got banana pancakes today. I’m on my way out to get some work done in the garden before it gets prohibitively hot. It’s supposed to be over 95 today. It would appear that our summer in the slow cooker has started… Have a great day.
Coffee’s gone & so must I. See y’all later.
Marion, I am back from Lurksville. Still thinking about our Nov. 4th/Jan 20th FDL virtual brunch cookbook.
Meanswhile, here are where my thoughts are [EPU’ed from below]
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone. Johnny Nash, covered by Jimmy Cliff. Spelling of one word changed. Modified: I have replaced rain with reign, as in the reign of George Bush II.
Song for a unified Democratic party, with certain stanzas meant for the grieving Hillary followers. Let’s now try NOT to be the obstacles BO toward a reign-less future.
Posted this on Daily Kos and was rewarded with a you tube that illustrated my thought exactly. h/t Kovie.

I can see clearly now, the reign is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been prayin’ for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
Look all around, there’s nothin’but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin’ut blue skies
I can see clearly now, the reign is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
Olmert is a dead man walking. One foot out of jail, maybe one toe. Helped by fact that he is the firewall between Israel and the ninny Binny Netanyaheu, who is, btw, thinking of hiring Karl Rove to advise him.
Also BTW,
Daniel Kurtzer. BO’s adviser on the Middle East is the former American Ambassador to both Israel and Egypt and seen as a peacenik there
Great to see you again, BSRH! Love the song — to steal a phrase from “them,” it really is beginning to feel like morning in America. I’ve added a risen waffle recipe for brunch. The batter is mostly made the night before, and will last in the fridge for 2 or 3 days. Makes a waffle that’s crispy outside and tender inside. Again, it’s grand to see you here.
Lykke Li = luckiness/happiness
What a warm, heartfelt welcome.
Great to be back. I’ll be around but only in the early ams. The extra energy has to be directed to boots on the ground election work.
Can one adapt the risen recipe to pancakes for those of us w/o wafflethingies.(irons?)
We’ll talk about the book closer to the glorious day. (As glorious as this one. She was magnificent. A historical speech.)
