“I don’t see any way that Hillary Clinton won’t be president.”
"Hillary Clinton will undoubtedly lose the South Carolina primary as African-Americans line up to vote for Barack Obama. And that defeat will power her drive to the nomination."
COLMES: At this point Karl -- this is risky territory, but could you predict who the nominee will be for the Democrats based on what you know?
ROVE: I think it's going to be Senator Clinton because I think Senator Obama's best shots are largely behind him.
"I think the odds are 80 per cent that Sen. Clinton is the next president; I think she is almost certainly going to win the Democratic nomination."
"Remember this: the Democrat machine candidate always wins; the upstart insurgents never do. It's all you need to know. Forget all the polls."
President Bush, breaking his rule not to talk about presidential politics, says he believes Hillary Rodham Clinton will defeat Barack Obama in Democratic presidential primary voting.
"She's got a great national presence and this is becoming a national primary," Mr. Bush told Sammon.
I predict that Republicans will continue to be wrong about everything.

Thanks, tuttle — de-lurking for awhile…
But my-oh-my, a Mojito sounds nice. Where’s the pool bar?
might be cool for non-linear stories!
Suz, was late to your shoe porn wedding thread where you bemoaned missing the absolutely fabulous fuck thread.
Pity. You were even dressed appropriately in your fuck-me pumps.
Hiya Suz… sorry I was rude and didn’t greet you up above… :)
everything works. After all they are the Flat Earth Party.
(( lurk ))
From your lips…
I’d call it wishful thinking, but that would require me to believe that the above named actually thought.
* shakes off next to CTut *
I’m, for one, very glad you are here eCAHN.
ruth roh!
Hi Teddy. Jump in.
What a bunch of losers quoted in this post. I mean, really — when will our national discourse ever heal with these idjits on teevee? Our national political media is horribly, disgustingly sick.
It’s nice to be wanted!
I wanted to be nice…
handing ya towel and pointing towards corner

fuck!
You sent him to stand in the corner??? It’s scary over there!
eCAHN, I was thinking about you yesterday morning. Glad to see you.
CT - Paul Pierce twisted his knee and had to be carried off the court. Very scary. But now he’s back. I wonder what they injected that knee with.
thx, could use a time out ;)
won’t happen again or until i forget!

Well, thanks. *blushing*
But don’t expect me here tomorrow night. I have a brand new, first time owner, of a battery SawsAll with a pruning blade. There won’t be a piece of dead wood on my property at this time tomorrow, but I’ll be dead tired. Battery is a-charging.

Here ya go, ceabaird! Welcome to the Lake.
Y’all succeeded.
for CT
Thank you kindly, Suzanne…

Bob Dylan supports Obama!
He’ll feel it in the morn! Doesn’t look good for the series…! 8-( Fortunately, they’re up now…!
OOOooooo! Power tools.
Hi eCAHN!
I was disappointed I couldn’t find the clip Laura Ingraham on Hannity or O’Reilly saying, “It’s gonna be Hillary, can we just stop pretending that it’s not?” This was last summer.
Damn…I’d love to be at a pool bar..
Heh, your signature dive, eh…? *g*
Well then, that settles it ! *g*
Tool bar..pool bar…same difference.
(grin) more like my southern mom making sure that her aunt sue (who claimed my mom was preggers when mom and dad got married) remembered exactly when my birthday was - 18 months after the wedding
Yes, my very first power tool. And it doesn’t even require a little blue pill! (I work alone, and chain saws are way too dangerous for me.)
I don’t know if this is OT or not - but what’s the situation with Sen. Thompson’s death? He was a Dem - and the Dems only controlled because the two Independents voted with them. It’s now a 50-49 rather than 51-49, but one of the Indies is Joe Lieberman….
i drink alone
Should! But he’s a DFH too…
Wow Suz, that was a really long pregnancy!
Mr. WDD got me a router for my birthday and a table saw for Christmas.
: )
Ha! Me too.
Need to find out how to dive into the lake when it gets too hot in the midHudson. Don’t have AC, and a cyberlake might be just the ticket.
Given that astounding record of accuracy, I sure hope the GOP has strongly backed KoMe and the Lakers!
Who is Thompson?
Yeah! George Thorogood rocks.
Mr. WDD got me a router for my birthday and a table saw for Christmas.
Ya gotta love a guy so instinctively romantic…. *g*
Color me novice. Sounds like you’re into wood working. I’m into hacking down dead wood & burning it. Real primitive stuff–sophistication R not me.
some excellent cliffs over on the left side of the lake - by the exit over to cliffs place i might add
and there are rope swings, slides, and, of course, the raft island has slides and a tower for diving..
just pick anyplace and dive in (or jump in)
What? Link? Nothing on google.
Senator from South Dakota I think - he had a brain hemorrhage right after the elections - had surgery, and has been absent for most of the term, although he did show up for a few days about a month ago. But he passed away today. He was new - a freshman - never really got to take office.
Getting into it, anyway. I’m still learning.
Boston was up 5 last time I checked.
I have a young adult moved into the upper East 79th St. side. Any advice?
i’m glad you didn’t it find it!
:0===|
Sen Whitehouse mentioned it today during his speech on the Phase II report.
Can’t find a Senator Thompson in the Govt list.
Senator TIM JOHNSON.
Sounds like Lake Mohonk, about 4 miles as the crow flies from me.
http://www.mohonk.com/photo_ga.....allery.cfm
Ecahn, I AM coming to your place! Driving up with Juslin.
Let’s just hope Obama talked some sense into HoJo during their little corner chat.
Yeah, it was just the sneering, matter-of-fact, smug way she said it. I remember thinking at the time, “if she’s wrong I can’t wait to throw this back in her face.”
So much for all the “Jobama” nonsense.
Sen. Johnson seems to still be alive. It would seem, in Mr. Twain’s immortal words, that reports of his death have been greatly exaggerated.
Let’s just hope Obama talked some sense into HoJo during their little corner chat.
Hey - he’s a politician, not a magician…
You didn’t mention the gender, but my first thought was chastity belt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chastity_belt
Frankly, your young adult will figure it out better & sooner than any info I could impart. I like stodgy stuff like MetMuseum, NYC Ballet, etc.
My bad - they were talking about Senator Thomas from Wyoming - he wasn’t in the Senate any more - and he died last year - I just caught the end of the comment and assumed.
My bad.
Sen Tim Johnson is fine.
Nothing has changed.
Delete comment, questions, etc.
Sorry
That I think would require the strategic application of a crowbar.
I don’t think they were wrong necessarily. I think that was the outcome they were hoping for. Hillary would galvanize their base like no other Democratic candidate. They were hoping for her as an opponent I think.
Fabulous!
I find nothing anywhere that says that a Senator passed away today. Anyone else? Nothing on Johonson.
IIRC, Reid put rules in place at the beginning of this congress that no matter what happened - election, death or party-wise - everything would stay the same until the 2008 election.
No one did - my mistake. They were honoring someone who died last year.
Hey, a girl can hope! *g*
The pictures of the mountain are beautiful….used to ride my horse all over the trails…sigh…and the blueberries!!!
Gee, I’m having so much fun tonight it makes me almost want to not exhaust myself during the day.
fanning face and getting breathing back down to normal.. i was looking and looking and not finding anything
thanks for the correction
Thanks lokywoky…it happens sometimes…
It was just the way he said it - “my condolences to the family” blah blah
That works for me.
TBogg has the video!!!
fork - i’m not seeing anything either
Unfortunately, that’s why HoJo is still chairman of Homeland Security!
Hey, a girl can hope! *g*
Obama’s only got 5 months till the election. I’m thinking it would take longer than that to talk “sense” into JoeLie.
Dr. Dick’s crowbar (aka “crash-course”) might work though.
Narrative…
“Because, Joe - I’m going to be the President of the United States, and you’re not.”
Happens to me alot! *g*
I just blame the meno.
I expect Reid to toss him the day Obama takes office. I suggest that we demand it.
i want to see hojo publicly stripped of his perks - like when the old westerns where they would use the sword and cut off the buttons and all emblems of ranks and service and the humilated has to stand very still and just take it…
Thanks, eCAHNomics. She will. Intern at the Met for a year, it has been frantic in apt. hunting long distance. Always looking for free stuff.
Snirk.
Heh.
Any way that Obama can toss *Reid* the day Obama takes office?
If there is in fact, a God, it will be Majority Leader Clinton who does the chucking.
There were people who picked blueberries for a living.
http://books.google.com/books?.....#038;hl=en
and huckleberries
http://www.amazon.com/Hucklebe.....38;sr=1-13
My parents used to make huckleberrie jam. I took a cutting from a friend’s plant late last summer, stuck it in the ground where it promptly seemed to die. But it sprouted from the root this spring, so in a couple of years I’ll be fighting the birds for the berries.
I’d love to meet you all someday. Maybe next year?
A boy can hope… 8-)
Right after Reid tosses Joe.
The Met is what I miss about NYC, without a doubt. My favorite place. Sigh.
I am sure the Dem leadership in the Senate is just waiting for the elections and we pick up some seats - they will definitely kick LIEberman to the curb then. As it is right now (I didn’t know about those neat rules!) they really can’t because it would be 50/50 and Darth Cheney would then be in charge.
huckleberries grow wild up here - i use them as cut greens *but they do drop a residue on the desk so i make sure i put the vase on a doily
Send me an email at rosannecahn at aol dot com and I’ll put you on the NYC area meetup list. Then you’ll be in the loop. Love to meet you too.
I was just about to suggest other punishments that the natives did. But then I remembered the caveat against violence. So stripping HoJO anyway we can is good.
No, Obama has no power to pick the Senate Majority Leader - that is done by the members of the Senate.
And No, Clinton cannot become SML just because she wants it, or because Obama wants her to (which I don’t know that he does) because he has no power to do that.
Right after Reid tosses Joe.
A
toofertwo-fer!!!That is so great! Wow.
My best memory of the mountain, is the highest point lookout…lots of berries there….you can see for about a hundred miles…it is the territory of my youth….part of it…a lot of territory…nevermind.
We have scads of them all over the mountains here. Lots of the local Hmong make extra money harvesting them and selling them at the local farmers’ markets. Mighty fine eating, but still a few months away.
thanks gnome - is why i went for that old john wayne movie military drumming out analogy…
Hillary would have to campaign against Reid (and anyone else who wanted the position) and given her status as a fairly junior member, with few achievements in the Senate, and the traditional cold shoulder given losing Presidential candidates, I would say that it would be an uphill battle.
But then again, given her tenacity in this primary - I wouldn’t count her out either.
But, but, but - Unitary Executive Bitchez!
Which he can then abolish on Day Two.
first year i’ve been able to get some of the wild strawberries in my yard - deer strip em before i get to em most years but my agent used some deer spray on my primroses.
tiny little buggers but oh so sweet
Woo-hoo, a ten point lead with 16.6 seconds left!!! ;-O
My wild strawberries are bitter. But give me Bergman nostalgia.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3O01zxTTrQY
Yeah and with all this cool wet weather we are having a bumper crop of morels right now. Sauteed in a little butter and shallots. Yummmm!
I showed Mr. Gnome his first wild blueberries yesterday. Unfortunately they were very young greenberries. They won’t be ripe until August. (We are on the Cape at moment, not in Texas.)
they time baseball games?
Oh, LS, me too! I used to visit NYC every month from 1970-1974 as an undergraduate at the Univ. of DE.
OMFG. Salman Rushdie with Stephen Colbert, what a forkin’ crack up!!!
Hope the clip goes up at Comedy Central. What a sense of humor.
FunnyD
Bwahahahahahaha!
Smarty-pants! Celtics take game 1!!!
Oh, I see. That means it only feels like they go on forever.
707 Suzanne!!
FunnyD
rot roh
jane’s not going to be happy and kobe is gonna be growling left and right
He’s a rather hunky man, I thought.
I mean his mind is hunky. I…never mind.
They don’t go on forever?
FunnyD
gah, after looking through like ten minutes of youTubes with Bill and Laura, enough reliving the primaries.
I’ll just go with this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhPxSm9Es0w
Glad you cleared that up! I was about to ask where the heck do blueberries grow around here? ; )
I have the most delightful honor to observe a beautiful new family of cardinals that have 3 chicks that have just learned to fly…I’ve been watching them for 2 days…so cute…The dad takes them out about 15 times a day to show them how to get water and food. I put out a shallow tray with water and a little kibble in the water to soak for them. They are hilarious. BTW….Cardinals mate for life. Absolutely amazing beings.
LOL.
I know what you mean. I have a soft spot for those older men with salt and pepper beards and hunky minds. Commonwealth accents don’t hurt much either.
You really must look for the clip.
FunnyD
i’ll be ur huckleberry ;)
There are huckleberries in eastern Oklahoma.
How cute! I hear they’re also very territorial and claim a wide area.
Cardinals mate for life.
But the Yankees are a true bunch of bastards…
No kidding. Lots of blackberries…and grapes…but no wild blueberries…too hot..
Smart is sexier than many people realize…
i’ve got steelhead hatching in the creek now - watching the salmon sex was better than watching the fry playing a lethal game of hide and seek with all the food chains in play
Any idea if Eastern Oklahoma soil is alkaline?
FTFY!
Worked real well for me when I was younger. 8-)
Jane was worried about the game earlier…
Yep, and too alkaline.
Have no idea, but there is lots of limestone in the area.
Um, I’ll accept, even without knowing what that involves! *g*
i am so glad i’m not on that flight
They are precious. There are many families of them here…observing them is pretty amazing. This particular family is special, because they’ve figured out that being around a water source, etc., is beneficial. They are really smart….so cuuuute.
Sounds just like Austin! I’m going to give it a try.
I had a bird experience earlier this week, not nearly as cute, though. Turkey buzzard was devouring a road-killed squirrel in the middle of my street.
Just read your letter, JoFish.
Well done.
FunnyD
gnome at 188–i don’t know which area of the cape you are at, but i used to spend my summers there, lucky i know, in brewster…….check out long lake…..white sand, clear waters, ask the locals……and there was a small restaurant there owned by locals that was exceptional…..wow, best food i’ve ever had there…check out brewster, bay beach with permit, and a jump to other areas from there…..
in provincetown there was a glassblower named adrian, great stuff…
had to jump in, so many memories on the cape……..can’t count how many times i looked up at the sky and counted myself lucky to be there……..brewster, check it out, used to have a general store with really cool stuff, and a potter south of town that inspired me to be one.
and suz, thanks for the wedding photos, classy dress, classy shoes, classy toes, and people who had love in their demeanor………what could be better.
Clinton expected to look to Obama for help out of debt
from HoustonChronicle.com — Politics
In politics, money talks. And money is likely to be an important factor in discussions between Barack Obama’s advisers and the debt-saddled Hillary Rodham Clinton campaign.
crap, jo fish, i was so busy earlier i forgot to tell ya that that was one hella fine letter
Spew!!! I call them the clean up mafia…they do their job..
The last few days I have been watching the waxwings in the tree outside my front window. The tree is blooming or fruiting or something and the birds are avidly feeding on something. Beautiful little birds. There has been a western tanager as well.
Ha! Cool. I put seed in my window sill and cardinal has claimed it :)
Chirps right me while i peck away at the keybaord.
Listen. It’s about Obamam’s VP search committee. He named a guy named Eric Holder, a Deputy AG type. Who is that guy? I know I’ve heard the name.
thanks dmac - my memory jar got stuffed to overflowing with lots of good ones this weekend
Nice Pictures Suzanne. It’s a lot of work putting on one of those thingies. LOL. I did my son 10 years agao and I still have the shivers sometimes.
Worked for Janet Reno I think.
We have a family of humming birds with three one-day-old babys in a next three feet outside our window. Truly amazing.
yeah, that about made me spew :)
I was privileged a couple of weeks ago to watch a pair of bald eagles bring their now-juvenile kids - two of them - to play in the updrafts in the little valley in front of my house. This was quite unusual because big raptors usually only raise one chick per year. It was quite a sight!
Wow! Steelhead/salmon? Where are you again? Thought you were in the SantaCruz mountains, for some reason.
FunnyD
check to see how much cool weather they need. some fruits need a certain length of temperature below 45 or so in order to set. Apples and peaches I know do that.
I see ya digg Neuro! Good the Lake needs the promotion!
Evening Pups… yea the Celtics won.. Ct I bet you are HAPPY!
So Suz How do you like being a Grammy?? :>)
boulder creek in the santa cruz mountains - under the wood bridge leading into the compound is one of their spawning pools… another around the bend upcreek… i’m right at the junction of the san lorenzo river and bear creek - in a protected riparian zone so no fishing
and gnome, our house was on a place right below brewster called long pond, is where i learned how to sail…..and need i mention the drinking age was low?
wonderful place……..then i could talk about wellfleet, where i got my favorite sweatshirt of all time and still have it, and where i met young fishermen who told me of what it was like to be at sea, and the tales of how the locals hate tourists and the charm of other places there, but brewster has my heart….
you can go to hyannis and get discount candles for next to nuthin’……..
just find the places the locals will let you in on when they find out you’re not a tourist….
find them…….you’ll never let go of them. god i love that place. forever.
*rubbing hands together gleefully*
its even more fun than being a mother in law (laughing evil laugh)
Oh, just remembered the baby bluejay last weekend! He was still learning to fly but hadn’t quite got it down yet.
Flew into the patio door, THUNK! Fell to the ground dazed. Cat went nuts watching him through the door.
He regained his composure after a couple minutes and flew up into the oak tree.
lol, good, I just kinda blurted it out! :)
We have quite a few around here. Several times I have had fairly close encounters with juvenile bald eagles who were not real clear on this flying business quite yet. A couple flew within twenty feet of me while I was out fishing. One of the reasons I love Montana.
hey funny d. how’s the history-ignorant roomie? The one who thinks the New Deal was/is evil? More important, how you doin?
Eric Holder started out as the US Attorney for DC, did a lot of really great work. Bill Clinton appointed him to Deputy AG under Janet Reno.
http://clinton4.nara.gov/WH/EO.....older.html
i cried my eyes out watching the father-daughter dance - seemed like just last year she was dancing with her dad by standing on his feet and not even coming up to his waist…. dayammit, where’s my forking tissue
I predict that Republicans will continue to be wrong about everything.
In other words, nothing will change with the republics.
Yeah, right…..?
Thanks for the tip Gnome. You do know A&M developed a short winter variety of apple not to long back? I hear the peach farmers (orcharders?) plant them in Fredericksburg, just in case they lose the peaches to a late frost.
awwwww!
Rule #1 for GOPers:
Anything that comes out of their mouth - the exact opposite is true.
Rule #2
Their policies are designed to transfer wealth from everyone else to the already wealthy.
Rule #3
Their other policies are designed to distract everyone from noticing Rule #2.
Change?! Heaven forbid! They are conservatives after all.
Starts out well!
O/T and apropos of nothing-
Watching the finals tonight, I had this silly flash.
What if pro hoops were played with an equivalent of NHL penalty rules? Jettison the 6-fouls-and-you’re-out thing.
Normal non-shooting foul and loose ball foul, 2 minutes in the penalty box, in the act of shooting 2 minutes in the box plus 2 shots from the stripe. Flagrant, 5 minutes + 2 shots + the ball. Technical foul 10 minutes (and lose the cheesy “technical” technicals like that lame-assed tech D thing), etc. Still keep ejections for truly asshole conduct.
Offended team gets a “power play” i.e., 5 on 4, etc. for the duration of the box time.
‘eh?
That would clean up the game…
OK, pour another beer, BG
:)
Hey, whereabouts in Montana? Live here or just fish here LOL?
Good night friends. See you tomorrow.
Yeah, he did a lot of clean-up of DC, instituted a hate crimes unit, was in some kind of Honors program.
What do you bet he may be in line for the AG?
Rule #4
They project their misdeeds onto the Dems.
Night TB.
“Cashiered out!” Yes, cut his buttons off and then, break his sword, throw it at his feet, look him in the face, no pity, no compassion, “this one has disgraced all that matters …”
As an object lesson, and, thereby, serving notice to more flagrant criminals, as well … “Your time is coming … you may have no doubt …”
“Bring ‘em on!” time?
“Take ‘em away!” time?
In a foreign location, say the Hague?
Or, should we have the decency and courage of true human beings, we might deal with these (what words suffice, here and now, for toying with life and the planet itself, what describes that bloody ‘temerity’, possessed of such squalid, little, tiny, shriveled souls as have beleaguered all of humanity for decades and all done for such craven ends as limitless power and obscene, unimaginable wealth) pathetic excuses of protoplasm who care not a whit for all the harm they have done in our names, these besmirchers of honor, these brutal thugs, these frat-boy cowards, the bunch of them not worth a damn, in any universe, bereft of conscience, but oh so deserving of consequence, ourselves.
Perhaps we owe nothing less to posterity as well as to almost everyone else on the planet, not to mention respecting the priciples upon which we claim this nation to have been founded.
Well, that was cathartic, if nothing else.
So? I shall leave you wonderful folks for the gentle wonder of sleep.
Good night, good luck, and may we have more good news tomorrow!
Missoula. I teach at the university.
Sweet pain-free dreams, Betsy.

Well, small world. I grew up in Missoula, went to Hellgate High, went to UM for 2 semesters, joined the Navy, saw a lot of this big old country, and I’m now back. The eagles were up on Linda Vista!
FUCK.
I just had a knock-down drag out with the housemate. Hate that. Gonna go find a place with power and wifi and calm down.
See ya in about half an hour.
FunnyD
Hey dmac! (( ))
this from McSame:
“Whether or not you are a country fan, this is truly the work of a deep thinker, and highly intelligent person.”
“So simple, yet so profound. Words of wisdom from that famous philosopher, Willie Nelson, on his 75th birthday”:
“I have outlived my dick.”
You knew it was coming.
Deep breaths, Diva.
Um, the Unitary Executive belongs to the Powers-That-Be, not to the Ds. Obama will find that out before he even takes the oath. Anyone who thinks that he won’t be toast if he doesn’t toe the line is naive in the utmost.
A complaint was filed and Dodd had to cancel a senate hearing on the banking industry!!Is that strange or what?Who has the capability to cancel a senate hearing in progress?Who filed the complaint etc?
Barack Obama, in answer to a question from a voter said one of his first tasks in office would be to get his AG and they would go over all Bush’s signing statements, executive orders, and laws and any that were unconstitutional in his view would be gotten rid of. This from a Constitutional Law scholar.
My encounters were all out on Kelly Island. There is at least one breeding pair that nests out there on the island every year. See them at a distance all the time, but a few times have come really close to the young ones. They are just about as awkward and uncoordinated as our adolescents.
((((FunnyD))))
Don’t know what your tastes are, but I just loaded all Mozart piano concertos on my Ipod, and that would do it for me.
Yeah? Missed that. What was the complaint?
thinking calming soothing thoughts and sending em your way funny d
Think I will head out. Did an 8 mile hike in the Rattlesnake today and it is catching up with me. Take care all and have faith that the Republicans will always continue to be wrong about everything.
This valley runs down to the Bitterroot so I imagine the nest is down along the river someplace. They sure were beautiful, swooping around, trying to manage the updrafts, chasing each other (the kids!).
i’m not sure that i like that roomie.
nite doctor
g’nite dr (pause) dick
(I once saw a Western Tanager in *Maine* during the spring migration, when I was a kid. That was one out-of-place bird.) Your waxwings are eating flower petals, it turns out. I saw Cedar Waxwings behaving oddly in an apple tree earlier this year and found out that that’s one of the things they do, besides eating berries (expected) and playing flycatcher (less so).
can’t associate him with a specific news story though. should I be able to?
‘nite Dr… Dick.
The Democrats will rescind a lot of it. The Republicans who remain will be a royal pain in the ass like always. They will obfuscate, wave the flag, save it from burning, stonewall, whine and cry, etc.
It is supremely important to replace as many R’s as possible with Democrats, or better Socialists and Greens. And then throw Lieberman out on his ear.
From NYT’s
My theory behind that is to goad the Rep’s into perhaps considering doing something about it before that happens.
No one in the media has ever broached this subject and it is high time that it starts getting ‘out there’.
Therefore by publicly airing it is may cause some more heartburn amongst the GOP-ers and may spur them into throwing the chimp down the metaphorical well for leaving them in such a pickle.
-G
dmac - we are in Brewster right now! I know where Long Pond is. Sadly, we have to return to the land of heat on saturday
they had better be talking - tis a delicate balancing act of a kabuki dance that has to be negotiated the next couple weeks - and having a good talk and a plan in place bodes well for their journey
Good Point. You are one smart Granite State Destroyer. *g*
Seems to have become a bird thread.
Ok then -

hey margot, your artwork, post it again please………..
pups, buy it……..
Don’t understand your point. Plz explain.
brewster mccloud
I believe it was the aftermath of Clinton’s pardon of Mark Rich. Holder gave a sort of cursory overview of Rich’s file, and didn’t voice any concerns over that pardon - something he came to regret almost immediately afterward in the batch of Congressional investigations and stuff that followed.
Least you have any doubts: From the NYT’s
Great, in 2000 he was going after people who download music :/
going in the news queue.. thanks az matt
Unsheathing the Unitary wrapper from the Chimp’s banana will leave him totally unprotected. Its about all he’s got.
I need to get it online where someone can make prints of it. Still working on that one.
Yes, margot, post more art! Post that expressionistic one!
brewster mccloud
I bet, with a nice hit of acid, that that clip would make a lot of sense… *g*
El Condor Pasa

I did see that earlier… Just another rock to throw in his face. These guys sure don’t have any respect for the rule of law or the constitution:>(
Love that Einstein quote at the lead in.
Heh, besides this article, the Grey Lady has this editorial…
I smell impeachment material…!
he would do everything he could to prevent terrorist attacks, “including asking the telecoms for appropriate assistance to collect intelligence against foreign threats to the United States as authorized by Article II of the Constitution.”
If Obama becomes President, I’m betting that not a single soul from DOJ will have the nerve to try that Article II bullshit on Barack Obama, the constitutional scholar.
Well, it wasn’t exactly downloaded music. The charges were pirated software, actual counterfeit CDs, and computer components, among other things.
Kinda hard to figure Jello-Jay - he announces this fuckery, but thinks ChimpCo and the telecoms should skate.
hmmmm
nancy has to start setting the fucking table
Wake me up please, surely I’m dreaming.
McLame’s advisors make such a statement? Who is advising him? Is the man a perpetual “prisoner”. I just don’t understand it.
If he’s such a hero, what the hell was he fighting for??
What country are we in?
OMG KNOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG
i was just talking about it the other day, no shit!!!!!!!!
oh, i spent so many days and nights there…..pine trees and ocean scent all in one………please find the lake across the road–east of brewster, south……there is a beach that is white sand…….north end of long lake…….east side…….find it. they tried to turn it private but was disallowed, but you have to go through private drives to get there.
we used to bury our swim suits with rocks about six feet and go skinny dippin’ there in broad daylight…..clear waters.
absolute best memories of swimming anywhere, and i’ve been all over, best beach i’ve ever seen…….right where you are.
and i hope you found the local restaurant, i wish i could remember their names, owners right down the street from us. their kids would be 36 now……exceptional food……only little place in brewster…….i think it was brewster fish house……..only about 9 tables……
oh, take it all in for me, i soooooooo love that place……..i feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to be able to go there……i never took it for granted, never once. can’t say the same for others.
i was just sayin’ to my friend the other day, if things had been different, i’d be retirin’ in 1 year, and be moving to brewster……..but life didn’t turn out that way, but don’t feel sad for me, i’m in se ohio, in a beautiful place where my family and friends call my place here d====’s treehouse, and am lucky to have such a place….
so, it’s ok…..
but the original plan was to retire at 50 where you are right now……..so, soak it up for me…….
Disgraceful article. Could have been written by Michael Savage. Wonder if they’re related. Guess Charlie is unfamiliar with FISA and the acceptable violation of the constitution its provided since 1978.
Impeach!
The GOP needs to be pushed into repudiating Bush…..There are signs that the herd is backing away from him…via McCain’s efforts to deny he’d be a Bush third term and and evidence that Ilean Ros-Lehtinen in Florida is claiming in prss releases that she’s not a rubber stamp for Bush.
The GOP needs to be pushed into repudiating Bush even harder. By holding that fear that a Democratic Congress will do nothing to reign in a unitary executive in Obama…the fear they already have of Obama can be used against them on this matter.
Get the GOP on board with curbing the unitary executive….a “bi-partisan effort” that will allow them to show independence and also will shatter the template of uncontrolled executive power.
-G
He’s certainly well-deserving of the Jello-Jay nomenclature…!
nice - thanks
Well, I understand your point, but don’t hold your breath. One thing I learned from reading They Knew They Were Right about the neocons, is that the Rs didn’t mentor their successsors, but the neocons are all interrelated. Therefore, there is no R party outside of the neocons. Relying on the “Rs” to do anything reasonable is a pipe dream.
Turbulence
Did you see where Jay rec’d $50K from Verizon and AT&T in the month of March?
Charlie Savage just started at the Times after a Pulitzer career at the Boston Globe doing the expose on the Bush signing statements. He is no Bush fan and I doubt if he is a McSame fan neither.
You are correct. I find myself in opposition.
This is the legislation that puts restrictions on people for using peer-to-peer clients, downloading music and software. The IP issuse, imho, is a large bat swung at liberty and the public domain.
Ummm…isn’t Savage throwing McCain under the bus?
-G
I’m off. Got to rest up for my SawsAll extravaganza in the morning.
the timing of the Phase II Report - let’s see, the war started in March ‘03 - it’s now 6-08 (yep, right on time - only 5+ years in the making - it’s a fucking miracle they got it done so quickly) works well for me, since I’m just now getting around to reading Bob Woodward’s Plan of Attack, from ‘04.
God, that book is infuriating. The Adventures of war-criminals, dutifully stenographized (ok, I made that word up) by Woodward, who merely writes it all down - no criticism, no insight, no nothing. The chronicle of crimes, which evidently were just peachy for Mr. Woodward.
thank you :)
from sawing zzz’s to sawing trees
g’nite ecahn
Amazing that he’s so cheap! Even being a Rockefeller, eh…? 8-(
‘nite eCAHN.
wigwam, i and my friends have hiked into the wilds to just see a hummingbird nest, just the nest…..
take some pics of it………
Yeah, it IS right on time. Considering Phase II was started right after the ‘04 elections - and then the Rethugs have been holding it up, and the White House has been withholding info the entire time, and even after the 06 elections, the Rethugs have been obfuscating and everything every step of the way - it is a wonder it got published at all.
unclaimed zed upstairs
Did you see where Jay rec’d $50K from Verizon and AT&T in the month of March?
No I didn’t accept a penny from them. ‘Course they never offered… but I would have glady accepted and used every bit of my influence with the Senate Intelligence Committee if they had….
Shame, that.
And only 11 other months in a year.
That represents a complete turn-around by McCain within a period of six months. I recommend this excellent article on that matter by Glenzilla: http://www.salon.com/opinion/g.....index.html
It must be noted that Mitch McConnell sat on it for the bulk of that time, while he was the SSCI Chair, and even, fought tooth and nail against it release after he lost his Chair to Jello Jay in ‘06…!
fuck !
And if Mr. McCain is elected president, Mr. Holtz-Eakin added, he would do everything he could to prevent terrorist attacks, “including asking the telecoms for appropriate assistance to collect intelligence against foreign threats to the United States as authorized by Article II of the Constitution.”
In spite of the fact that Savage is quoting Eaken, this bit here is quite helpful to McCain.
Aloha, eCAHN! And any sleepers while I was making din-din…! ;-)
I’m not so sure he is. People cheered at that “Double Gitmo” line from whosis. We’ve become a nation with a hell of a lot of serfs who seem to revel in taking orders.
Some doctors I know reacted this way after 9/11. “Well, when do we get our civil liberties back, then?”
“As long as it takes.” !!
I’m here late as usual. Trying to catch up.
Need to say to YOU BT, you must be PSYCHIC or sumpthin.
LOLOLOL!
i PREDICT you are totally right.
hahehehehe
good un’
That would be Mittens, I think.
I am of two minds actually on IP. OTOH, the artist/programmer/moviemaker have created something - and that something is how they make their living. Granted they only get a tiny portion of any proceeds - but that’s why it is called intellectual PROPERTY. It shouldn’t be any different from an actual painting or a sculpture or whatever. Counterfeits that are sold as originals deprive the artist of her/his just due. And people who make counterfeits have routinely been prosecuted in all areas of ‘physical’ property. The ‘intellectual’ part has had many people flummoxed because since it is kind of amorphous (like a computer program - you can’t see it but it’s there).
OTOH, I like to listen to music and I can’t always go out and spend the kind of money it costs to collect all the CDs I really want so….
I think it’s one thing if an artist puts their music up on iTunes for free (they’re doing it themselves) but another thing altogether if that ‘file-sharing’ is done in violation of copyright laws and without the permission of the artist involved.
I am a clothing designer, and that’s how I make money - off my ideas. Stealing my designs by copying them without my permission isn’t correct - no matter if you sell them or not.
Called Hoyer’s office today re:immunity compromise BS. Courteous enough, but sensed they would have been more interested were I a constituent.
202/225-4131
gnome–see if you can find find the smith family–buffy smith…….in the neighborhood of long pond….she’s your guide…….hook her up with me again…….what a place………
i’m sure her family is still there. right down the street from us.
sorry for vampin’ so much on the brewster thing, but it was such a part of my late teenage and young adult years that were so purely happy and wide open……..i was so lucky to have such a place that let me feel that way…….and still does……so beautiful, and whammed my brain on so many levels…..nature and socialogical.
changed me forever. i can honestly say that place made me who i am now. i can say that and mean it.
Called Hoyer’s office today re:immunity compromise BS. Courteous enough, but sensed they would have been more interested were I a

All better! 707!!!
i dunno, we can talk IP some other time.
Good point. Didn’t think to ask his price.
FYI: Holtz-Eakin is an economist.
Way EPU’d but that’s too fuckin’ spooky!!!!! Fun, though.
