Last night John McCain made a cameo appearance as the opening act in the culmination in the Democratic Primary process. It was, as usual, a not badly crafted (if duplicitous) speech poorly delivered — in front of an almost enthusiastic crowd of dozens. There’s something about McCain that reminds me of former Communist Party Chairman Konstantin Chernenko (if the latter was surrounded by lime jello). Not in ideology — although they both followed a bankrupt one — but in delivery.
But it continued on Ol’ Johnny’s constant refrain against talking to people we’re not supposed to like, a refrain he has given often — and likely will continue to do so. On Monday, for example before AIPAC:
we hear talk of a meeting with the Iranian leadership offered up as if it were some sudden inspiration, a bold new idea that somehow nobody has ever thought of before. Yet it’s hard to see what such a summit with President Ahmadinejad would actually gain, except an earful of anti-Semitic rants
And, of course, that is vitally important as it related to Iraq right?
He opposed this resolution because its support for countering Iranian influence in Iraq was, he said, a "wrong message not only to the world, but also to the region." But here, too, he is mistaken.
Well, apparently the Iraqis agree with Obama on both counts:
Iraq’s prime minister plans to visit Iran next week to discuss security and other issues with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a government official said Tuesday.
In John McCain’s mind I suppose they’ll sit around and talk about how much they don’t like Joe Lieberman. However, I imagine that Iraqi Gilligan has other matters on the agenda too:
Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is making his second trip in a year’s time to neighboring Iran. The visit comes amid growing concerns among Iraqis and Americans that Iranian agents are training and arming Shiite militants in Iraq.
The visit will be his third trip to the country as prime minister. He visited Iran in September 2006 and again in August.
According to Iran’s state-run Islamic Republic News Agency, Abu Heidar al-Sheikh, Iraqi ambassador to Iran, told reporters the trip will last two days and will focus in part on strengthening political and economic ties between the two countries.
The news agency paraphrased al-Sheikh as saying that al-Maliki also would "confer with the supreme leader of the Islamic revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on [the] security pact between Iraq and the U.S."
Oh noz! He’s meeting, despite all of McCain’s bluster about Iran’s undermining of him, to strengthen political and economic ties between Iraq and Iran — home of the world’s most dangerous Member’s Only Jacket. And he’s even meeting with Khamenei so that means he’s actually meeting with somebody in charge. Maliki doesn’t hope to end Iranian influence, he hopes to permanently fix it [unlike that little pact with the U.S. he and many others are not so keen on].
Finally, talks involving the real winner of Bush’s invasion.
I wonder if Nuri brought the floor plans to the U.S. Embassy so they can pick our their future suites?

KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION,AND DON’T FIRE AT FRIENDLIES!!
Dozens?
I think you might have overestimated the size of that group :)
My take on McCain’s speech last night is about the same as my take on Britney’s “comeback” appearance on MTV: It was bland and flawed, but it wasn’t the trainwreck that it was made out to be. It was just a really old guy reading a lukewarm speech in front of a tacky green background. I don’t think he did himself any favors, but I don’t think he made a fool of himself, either.
My only other piece of “constructive” criticism for him would be this: If you’re going to use that much botox, you really shouldn’t try to smile. Victoria Beckham has figured this out.
John McTeleprompter looked absolutely insane last night. Yep, he had the beedy eyes that darted back and forth too (and smiled at inappropriate times). I can’t wait for the debate between Barack Obama and McTeleprompter! Oh boy! It’s going to be fun.
Good morning, pups. It’s MoDo and Friedman today. MoDo says “She’s Still Here,” and whoever said that after denial comes acceptance hadn’t met the Clintons. If Hillary could not have an acceptance speech, she wasn’t going to have acceptance. Mr. Friedman says it’s “Time For Radical Pragmatism,” and that we need a radical departure because the course that Israelis and Palestinians are on does not have enough energy to produce a solution.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got French toast this morning. KayInMaine, I agree with you. I’m stocking up on popcorn for the debate. Have a good day, y’all.
Why would Iraq want to deal with Iran rather than Merca? Merca has been so good to them. They removed a freely elected president and installed a despotic shah. They then gave chemical weapons, that were used to kill hundreds of thousands of people to the brutal dictator that followed the shah then the bombed the shit out of innocent peoples while rescuing the “American Oil” from the same dictator. Whats not to love about the good old US of A?
OT. Is it finally bloody over, did the fat lady sing?

“I can’t wait for the debate between Barak Obama and McTeleprompter! Oh Boy! It’s going to be fun.”
You have a sadistic streak in ya there Citizen Kay. Hey what’s happenin’ in the race beween Collins and Allen…is the good Congressman closin the gap?
KEEP THE FAITH AND GETCHER LIFE JACKETS ON, THERE’S A TSUNAMI COMIN’!!
The lime green background behind McCain at his speech reminds me of the Saudi Flag Wonder if Malkin and the Wingers will hold McCain to the same standard as Duncan donuts and Rachael Ray’s scarf?
We need pictures of McCain’s and Obama’s crowd side by side.
You think he’s on Botox? If so that fact would alienate him from his winger base heck with a man that old I am not sure blowfish toxin won’t have side effects.
No look for the Saudi flag

Friedman Unit refused to come out and say that it was the Israelis that broke the Oslo agreement. He also blames the Palestinians for “building hate” Hell the damned Israelis are the ones that are treating the Palestinians like trash, they murder them with impunity, they break UN resolutions (14 at this point?) with impunity, they build nuclear weapons with impunioty, they invade oyther countries with impunity, they are obviously America’s chosen people and it is therefor OK to oppress another country, another peoples as the Americans are so fond of doing
The Friedman Unit is still a mouthpiece for the Likudites.
The coverage on Nice Polite Republicans this morning is made up largely of hand-wringing over whether or not “the race is finally over.” The questions are slanted towards picking at areas of disagreement, and they keep playing clips of Hillary’s speech, prefaced with things like “let’s listen to what Sen. Clinton said last night when she didn’t concede.” Feh.
Iraq’s prime minister plans to visit Iran next week to discuss security and other issues with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a government official said Tuesday.
Security From us probably our puppet government in Iraq is laughing at Bush see we go meet your dread axis of evil but you do nothing to stop us.
We know you can’t spend this amount of money forever when you leave the
AyransIranians will be here.I wonder if Mr My GrandFather helped the Nazi’ knows that Iran is just a variation of the spelling of Ayran.
Indo European Languages http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I….._languages
I wonder how all the racist voters would feel if they knew?
Just listening to the idiots on NPR. Sickening. And now they are talking VP for the pain in the ass from chapaqua. gimme a bloody break.
My only quibble is that the Friedman Unit is a measure of time. The man himself is, I believe, referred to as the Moustache of Wisdom.
They are desperate to find signs of Democrats being divided. I’m sure that the Wingers are going to welcome Hilary’s voters with open arms cause only with Hilary’s supporters does McCain have any chance of wining outside a military take over.
However I think Hilary should offer McCain a shot as her VP after all she does have more votes than McCain.
Bwahahaha!
Definitely in need of a shave
ABC’s Charlie Gibson covered Obama’s speech before a packed arena in St. Paul. Within 3 sentences of him critiquing John McCain and failed policies ABC cut back to commentary between Gibson and Stephanopoulis. It was painfully obvious that ABC wanted you to watch and listen to the pampered and priviledged Gibson and his little buddy rather than any criticism of St. McSame and the Republican Party.
Has Friedman said anything about Bush giving the Saudi Nuclear Tech and Uranium we need to get that message out there to the Jewish voters.
I am all for the Palestinians and Jews both getting a far deal and I think the Israeli’s have been jerks but I am anti giving the Saudis nukes.
The Saudi still have not given us anyone of theirs who gave cash to Ossama. I don’t think we can trust them with Uranium.
http://voanews.com/english/2008-05-16-voa23.cfm
Besides Bush went over there told them he would give them reactors and Uranium but Bush STILL DID NOT GET THE KING TO PUMP ANYMORE OIL FOR US!
Bushie you give stuff to GET STUFF, you do not give stuff away for free!
Thanks Marion! I said on an earlier thread (from last night) that I don’t feel bad about going after Hillary last night either. She didn’t concede and will show up at the Colorado convention to make a Citizen’s Arrest of Barack because in her mind she feels the nomination was stolen from her. She will continue to divide our party to help John McTelemprompter out. Do we really need this? No! I talked with many republicans last night when I was doing some phonebanking with my local Democrats. We were calling Unaffiliated voters last night to find out where they are in their decision making this early in the season and the norm throughout my phone conversations? BARACK OBAMA and “I’ve been a lifelong republican, I’ve had it with my party, I’ve switched to the Democratic Party and am thrilled with Barack Obama!”.
*snapping like a gay man*

A Philadelphia legal team is taking on the Saudi royals with a lawsuit in the Royal’s role in funding the 9/11 terrorists:
http://www.philly.com/inquirer…..49399.html
It’s a start! I am completely against war and never think it’s a good answer to any question, but I would have been okay if George Bush had gone after the Saudis rather than Iraq. Under George Bush’s leadership, our country is supporting, aiding, and abetting OUR TRUE ENEMY!
Morning All..:)
Attaturk! ‘an almost enthusiastic crowd of dozens’ love it…
By the way, Duggggg!!!! :)
I agree completely!
I think we should just use all the Saudi assets in this country to give the troops first rate healthcare.
And holding hands with and doing business deals with. Bush is our true enemy
About Iran getting nukes lets offer them a peace treaty and solar and wind power if they let us dismantle their reactor. The stick has not worked so lets try a carrot.
Yep. Our Domestic Enemies are doing business with our Foreign Enemies. Nice. Spit. ;-)
‘they break UN resolutions (14 at this point?)’
I’m not sure how many UN/Security Council Resolutions brought against Israel re; Palestine and the Middle East actually ‘passed’, but over 120 have been presented. It is interesting to note ‘whom’ stopped them from passing…
Great idea! That would be REAL punishment to the fascists, no? ;-)
Its not a business deal if you want oil and they want nuclear reactors but you do not get what you want thats called getting played.
You’d think with all that expanse of desert they’d be a shoo-in for major solar power production…
Sorry reflex any mention of Republicans being
goodheck just being businessmen sets off my anger reflex. This Economy sucks!
Yep but they need our tech to get solar power so we do have a card to play along with a peace offer if only we would play it.
Republican ideology is the true enemy.
I had to laugh last night when making calls to the Unaffiliated voters…
I call this woman in Porter (we say, Powtah LOL) and a man answered. I asked for her but he said she was down in Georgie and wasn’t home. I said, “Okay, we’ll call her again in a few weeks. Thanks for your time”, and he said, “She’s down there with her boyfriend”. I said back, “Well, I’m sure she’s enjoying her time down there. The weather must be beautiful”, and he said, “Oh she’s enjoying it alright. I’m her husband”. Wow! I said, “Oh. Oh boy. Ouch. Okay”. I told him before hanging up with him, “Please try to have a good night tonight, okay?”. He said, “I will”. Good gawd!
I’m telling you, talking with the voters is an amazing experience. You just nevah know whatya gettin!
;-)
Bah hahahahahaha! On CNN just now….”Bingo” (the game) and John McTeleprompter mentioned in the same sentence! Love it. Of course, Mary Matalin ignored the comment. She wants to focus on “substance”. Oh please! Bah hahahahahaha!
Diplomacy is a game you can’t win it if your not in it. Bush has already bet the rent money on lotto tickets/war its time to try a cheaper game maybe the odds will be better.
7 years of nada is a pretty bad losing streak. I still can’t believe that Ossama is walking around free and McCain is worried about Iraq.
When Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11!
(I count the war as starting when Ossama not Iraq attacked us on 9/11) The Iraq war is just Bush’s ADD Attention Deficit Disorder confused response I think Bush had a hunch damm what the intel says Bush follows his gut and his gut told him that Iraq was behind the attack.
Bush’s gut also told him that Valdimir Putin has real nice eyes and that he could be trusted.
Matalin and her whore of a husband will be soon sent to pasture along with the remnants of the gooper party and the DLC and the world will be a better place.
230 days…
The “war” was started on January 21st 2001.

Citizen KatylnMaine:
I been sayin’ for several weeks here that the way Obama math has been developed and with his GOTV and 1million to 1.5million new registrants, he really doesn’t need the old big city bid state back door…he’s puttin tagether a new “New Deal” coalition sans the Dixiecrats and he ain’t gunna nee Mrs. M*Clinton or most of her supporters (but I think he’ll get ‘em). This kabuki dance of hers is jest to distraxct the national spotlight from the nominee and make it about her…but the elected leadership is about ta come down on her taday with a deluge of superdelegats and suprdelegate switches.
By the wy, how’s the Collins and Allen matchup in Main?
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, LET’S MOVE ON AND LEAVE ‘ER BEHIND!!
It was gawd that spoke to him
I was in my car and caught bits of Johnnymacs speech without the visual, and what struck me was that he was talking about things, that were wrong Katrina Response,First Responders not having proper equipment,Our education system being unresponsive etc.If I am not mistaken he was in a position to do something about those things, but didn’t.Maybe I heard wrong.
The “straight talk repress” would never shirk his responsibility?
Remember that book the Satanic Verses maybe Bush just got God and the Devil confused.
Also the NYT was given to understand that Maliki was going to confront Iran about interfering across the border at that meeting. The situation even gave the appearance of talking tough.
The Iraqi government are such beggars, they need all the help they can get from an influential neighbor where many of the leaders spent time. (I should know whether the Czechoslovaks or the Poles tried negotiating with Hitler, but I don’t know if the average member of AIPAC knows that!)
Nope. What you were hearing was his pitiful attempt to distance himself from W and Shooter. It’ll be fun to watch their convention just to see what sort of fancy footwork they’re going to come up with to dance away from W…
Fried-man, Kristol and a host of others need to move to Tel Aviv and be hacks for Likud in the country they love above all else. spit.
Saw just a snippet of McSame’s speech and thought “trully awful, this guy is going to get creamed in the general election by a youthful and articulate opponent..” No contest!!! Then I remembered that in 2004 the good citizens elected what clearly most people saw as a dolt. Those good citizens earned the question posed by a British publication “How can 59 million people be so stupid?” To paraphrase H.L. Mencken, “No one ever went broke underestimating the ignorance of the American public.”
You assume that the chimpy can/does read. I do not remember a version of the Satanic Verses in pictures.
Good point although about the education system well I’m from a public school and I never met any public highschool grad as confused as McCain or as dumb as Bush.
I think education reform should be for legacy students getting into the Ivy league or Admiral’s sons and grandsons getting into schools they obviously don’t belong in and getting socially promoted because of whose family they come from.
There’s got to be a good speech in there somewhere.
If I am not mistaken he was in a position to do something about those things, but didn’t.Maybe I heard wrong.
I wonder if McCain is really going to run on his record and Obama’s lack of one because he is a new Senator if so the Keating Five scandal gets another look.
Especially if the banks need a taxpayer bailout which could happen at any time, I hope all the pups are out of bank, financial and housing stocks.
How’s the match-up going between Tom Allen & Sen. Suzie-Q? Well, let’s just say the gap is closing between the two and the last I heard they were separated by 6 points. Bah hahahahahaha!
I haven’t spent as much time on this race because of lots of backstabbing against me behind the scenes(and some publicly) by some bloggers. Let’s just say I’ll leave it the Californian people who won’t go after Nancy Pelosi because it’s “too hahd”. ;-) Long story and won’t go into it here! LOL
My focus is on Obama and local races here in my area. I’ve been asked by my County Democrats to help out with their website. Huge project, but I want to make it great for the fantastic DEMOCRATIC (woohoo!) candidates we have running. They rock! ;-)
Yeah and they can take Jane’s favourite Senator from CT with them.
There is no classic comics version?
LOL Why yes, I do see at the very least an hour speech by Barack Obama explaining the meaning and pointing at George Bush & John McTeleprompter who are hugging each other as Obama talks!
Yeah they all have been real quiet about the Saudi’s getting Nukes even Charles Krauthammer where are all the Neocon friends of Israel when Israel really needs then Saudi Arabia is a lot closer to Israel than Iran.
That and they do have ties to al Quieda.
The other day it was reported that suzieq had a barrel of money on hand and Tom was not so well heeled. I sent him some more.
In NH we have an interesting “race” for Senator. The Dem is Shaheen, a DLC gooper lite, clintonista candidate and we have Sununu a real gooper that is pro choice, very good on domestic violence issues, has a VERY responsive staff and picks up the phone himself to talk to people, even Democrats. He has, however, voted the party line on a lot of issues that are disturbing. What is a socialist to do?
I should have added him after Kristol’s name and before others. Hopefully after Jan we can make some of that come true. Or at least show them to be the pathetic little toadies they are. And turning AIPAC into a non-entity is also on my agenda.
morning!

These are all one trick ponies. Their primary interest is massaging their egos and lining their pockets. When the show changes they got nothing. The neocons certainly played the brain dead people.
Scarecrow’s up!
Scarecrow has a new thread upstairs…
Straw man above
Barrel of money on hand? Let me guess…these donors are from out of state and are connected to lobbyists? Hey, with her being connected to John McTeleprompter’s campaign and how she and Joe Lieberman covered up for and protected the Bush regime, you can rest assure that RATIONAL MAINERS aren’t giving her a dime! Love it.
From wikipedia article on Cain and Abel:
Hmmmmmm…
