it is VERY important for progressives to stop using the term “tax cuts”

these were NOT “tax cuts” they were “re allocating infrastructure assets and given to the wealthy”

we are using the republican dialogue when we allow them that these were “tax cuts”

they are only “tax cuts” when EVFERYONE enjoys the cut and there nothing of importance that goes underfunded because of them

a “tax cut” never happens in a responsible policy, they are tax INCENTIVES and the investment must be returned with dividends for it to be considered a success

so we need to stop calling any of these gifts to the wealthy, “tax cuts”, they are not

A year and a half ago, I wrote:

The Republicans certainly know where the strength of their brand is, which is why they try to denigrate the very concepts of reality and pragmatism at every turn. . . . ridiculing intelligent and articulate Democratic politicians as morally dubious girlie-men, and ignoring the foreign-policy arts of intelligence and diplomacy in favor of blustering threats and military force. In each case, moral and ideological certainty is portrayed as the highest ideal, and the willingness (or — gasp! — desire) to adapt to a changing reality is depicted as a sinful, deadly weakness.

Democrats, by and large, want the government to work to make life better for everyone. That demands they pay attention to reality and use intelligence to find real solutions.

Republicans have another agenda which they don’t really want the public to notice. So, they don’t worry about the Truth or Reality or Intelligence. They only think of ways to manipulate the decision-making of the electorate. They want to get elected and their campaigns reflect only that reality.

What is their agenda? It varies a bit from year to year, but the basis is to use government for the purposes of a very very very small base of special interests. Bush said his base was the ‘haves and the have-mores’ and you can be sure they are catered to by the Republican policies. Naturally the general public isn’t served by them.

Why does any of the general public buy into the Republican tricks? Beats me.

When we think tax breaks for the rich are more important than getting all the troops in Iraq bullet proof vests, armored Humvees, showers that don’t electrocute them and water that does not make them sick.

Best one sentence summary of McCain’s foreign and tax policies I’ve seen for a long time. Bravo Things.
