From 1964, Folk and Blues Festival, Lightnin' Hopkins - Lightning's Blues
What's on your mind tonight?
Play the blues!
Excuse me for hollarin’ but I going to be happy.
I can really Digg this music!
No excuses needed
Aloha, ES!
That is just priceless!
Evening Eureka.
I just started reading the July Vanity Fair article on Bill Clinton.. Written by Dee Dee Myers husband.
The Coleman Hawkins Legacy Jazz Festival (Jazz Fest) will be held June 6, 7 and 8 in Topeka, KS
I am looking forward to it
Another glass of wine though, and I’ll get over it for the time being.
The blues are a good choice, Eureka.
Dugg this why don’t you?
alright Neuro :>) Quick on the draw!!
Well I sure fucked that up…
What’s on your mind tonight?
Another glass of wine though, and I’ll get over it for the time being.
The blues are a good choice, Eureka.
The don’t make ‘em like Lightnin’ anymore.
Excuuuuuuuse me, I should have said HAWK FEST
I think the tubes are still messed up. Although it could be my stupid Vista.
Electronic voting machines are giving me the blues tonight.
John McCane is older than Lightnin’ Hopkins.
Yves St. Laurent has died… RIP!
Muddy Waters.
Oh poo.
Me too.. We progressives need to push the- get out and vote very early and on paper. meme.
NYT editorial slams Rove.
I’m afraid it will take more than early voting. I don’t trust them to not just throw them in the trash. I know it has always happened, but the computer gives them a bigger opportunity. Especially when they own the media and can fuck with the polls and the message to make it all seem plausible.
I’ve got the Apolitical Blues!
DELBERT!
“The Love Rustler”
: )
They really nailed him
surprisingly, John McCain is not older than transistors.
Anyone want some wine while I’m up?
This so slays John Lennon…Delbert sho can sing…
Well, I don’t know about that…
You solo tonight again?
nahh, we just polished off a nice Pic Saint Loup with dinner.
Got a Chardonnay?
I smell inherent contempt…!

Nice.
Being unemployed, I’m on bag-in-a-box Chablis.
south of France wines are pretty low on the snob totem pole, but we’ve found some nice ones that don’t bust the budget.
wimes? why do you ask, ossifer?
I just listened to Mukasey’s first Senate Oversight hearing again. He is AbuG with a functioning cerebellum.
Hi LooHoo! Being that it’s the virtual world, sure, here’s some Chardonnay. In a nice cut crystal goblet!
nevertheless, I think he is missing a few
I swear I din’t douch a trop!
Paul Weller (the Jam) has done some good Beatle covers, including Come Together. This isn’t the best example, but it’s what I could find on youTube. Also Sexie Sadie.
in “honor” of McSame, your tro…p is missing ‘llo”
You suggesting the USA buy it and designate it as the new Hague express?
from your link:
told her that Mr. Rove had spoken to the Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section about getting Mr. Siegelman indicted.
Public Integrity Section to be re-named Department of Oxymorons?
The counterpoint to this would be the multimillion dollar yachts folks are buying. Some of these have fuel supplies such that people could be on seas for 5 years.
Cheers to you!
Let’s see - Brad Schlozman claimed to receive his marching orders to indict the ACORN employees in Missouri from this section - later disproved by his own letter of whimpering apology to the Senate Judiciary Committee…
Sounds like a catch-all (or another catch-all) in DOJ.
Don’t what if this is the blues or gospel or only wishful thinking, but here it is:

Hey, give the man his due - at least he’ll look you in the eye and tell ya straight out that he’s not gonna do his job.
That Department should be re-named the Department of Obstruction of Justice.
The Music of the Ainur sang of Silkworms.
just a drive-by tonight - time to get horizontal - nite all.
Yeah, I’m intrigued by their attempts to actually apply legal arguments to their shocking mendacity. Frustrating, and when a Republican gets Arlen Specter’s panties in a bunch, a marvel to behold.
What’s on my mind tonight?
Just saw the new Indiana Jones movie last night. Parts of it were shot here in Hawaii; I’m wondering where? I’m thinking of Kauai waterfalls. Anyone know?
Bob in HI
Bob?!?
How was the flick?
g’nite, jayt - always happy to hear from you.
hope you are well and happy.
nite all
Freddie King at the Travis County Jail 1976 Rare video
He used to come pick me up in his Cadillac on the way to his shows at the Armadillo World Headquarter.
They were here on the Big Isle for about a month, Bob! I haven’t seen the movie yet so I can’t tell ya for certain…!
How are you tonight Kirk? You liked Teddy’s Sirota’s Salon today?
Aloha, neuro and Jay!
nite neuro
nite jayt
I remember reading about Pinochet and his torture yacht the Esmeralda and thanking God that I lived in a country where that sort of shit was very unlikely to ever happen. Silly me. Even then, some voice in me was saying “Oh yeah, and exactly why not?”
IIRC, George H.W. Bush was director of the CIA when, with CIA assistance, Pinochet overthrew Allende.
Sweet dreams, neuro and jayt.
Great footage.
I thought it was pretty well done. There was continuity with the old “Indiana Jones” series, appropriately updated for “Indiana’s” age– except when it shows a 50-something Jones holding his own in a slugfest with a Russian Neanderthal army guy 20 years younger. I’m about the same age as Harrison Ford, and I know that 60-something bodies are more brittle than 30-year old bodies.
But it all falls under the rubric of Poetic License, doesn’t it? Along with swarms of computerized red ants that don’t really look like red ants, and dozens of other “special effects”. I was laughing out loud at a number of them. All good entertainment.
But I had to wonder about one seeming internal consistency that bugged me. The film is set in 1957, and yet was supposed to be about 20 years after the previous films. What I was forgetting is that the previous films were set in the 1930s!
You’ll also see Cate Blanchett in a different kind of role.
All good entertainment. With a happy ending, of course.

The Orange Satan has a diary up…
Obama now needs 46 more delegates to reach a majority. That’s five more he needed Saturday morning, and after a 20-delegate setback at RBC and a two-to-one defeat in Puerto Rico. There’s no stopping this train. No wonder Hillary is freaked out.
g’nite, neuro (zed lives!)
hey newton - i’m well: how are you?
and i loved the salon: props to teddy, david, and bev
are we there yet?
Did you ever get to see him live?
Naw, J’s back home. She was on the road two weeks in a row, but that’s done for now.
Delbert rocks that song.
Some of this would be natural– the primary season is, after all, drawing to a close. But it could be a harbinger of the dawn of realism creeping into the Clinton camp. I hope so. We’ve got to get on with the business of reconciling the steely Mad Mommas of Feminism (no derision intended)who are really upset at Hillary not being able to win the nomination. I think the reason was not that men don’t think a woman should be president (although there must be some), but rather that Hillary’s campaign made a bunch of strategic errors along the way, shooting themselves in their own feet.
Bob in HI
I think Hillary’s campaign failed because she’s a war-mongering Joe Lieberman in a pantsuit republican.
Sadly, no.
Spook posted this link in LN. Obama now projected 276 Electoral Votes.
Now, now…
We had that poo-fling at Marcy’s today.
We gotta get the Clinton supporters to want to see the light, and they have to want to move.
Open arms, I say.
That’s a great map!
Thanks Spook, by way of Eureka!
WP editorial claiming that we’ve got Iraq won..Whoopee!
Again?
again!
scroll!
Very cool! Looked like he kept moving around in that video so he could play to his cellmates.
What’s on my mind tonight? Wish I could play all these YouTubes so I can listen to the music ES features.
Oh, and Brian Greene wrote an interesting op-ed about the state of science education in this country.
Other than that, nothing much. How is everyone?
Again? I thought we’d won it at least three times already. Some wars just don’t stay won, apparently.
are we there yet?
listening to the partisans of two pro-corporate dems trash each other’s chosen avatar (my candidate is Jesus: yours is Satan) is so tedious…
Two questions:
(1) Now that both candidates’ surrogates (and spouses) have played nuclear electoral politics, how to get enough Dem voters together to defeat the Repub candidate?
(2) Should Dems redirect the circle’s inward firing trajectories out towards Rethugs and actually help support a Dem Prez victory:
on Inaugruation Day plus X (X = greater than zero) what strategies will force either of the corporate prostitutes known as Hillary or Obama to support Progressive values and policies?
{and yes: they both suck corporate phallus big time}
I know I’ve posted this before… but here it is again.
It gives me happy feet.
The investigations that need to occur…

Hey Suz!
Heading over now!
There was a fucking fuck thread and nobody told me! damn.
Uh, please don’t go throwing stones at “feminists”. I am “hard core” (don’t ask the details) but ask anyone here, and they will tell you that from the get-go I was NOT, EVER, a fan of Hillary. So, don’t, please, make that simplistic equation.
Awesome! Pics!!!
Best bet for accountability is (somehow) informing and rallying a good portion of the 1.5 plus million small individual contributors to Obamas campaign.. And the sooner the better..
A lot of Clinton Dems will come around, some wont (most of whom are/have been Republicans in denial who appreciated the DLC cover Clinton Lieber-dems provided). Many wont begin to come around until Hillary tells them to do so.
I’ve used it on luk and I’m saving it for AC.
That’s just rude as fucking hell.
Hi Cujo. Don’t think we’ve met formally. You go!
IMHO, Obama’s supporters are their own worst enemies in that department. That person from Racine made that point pretty well, I think.
My other thought on that matter is that most folks, upon reflection, do what’s in their best interests even if it’s not palatable. Most Clinton supporters will support Obama, unless he steps in it worse than either candidate has done so far.
In short, patience and understanding will get you a lot farther than insults and whining.
Sorry to be so critical, particularly responding to someone who isn’t really part of the problem, but I’ve really had that shit up to here (indicating chin level).
As Kirk M. just mentioned, there isn’t so much difference between these two candidates that it’s worth fighting over. Yet that’s what’s happening.
Hiya Suz who is not here.
hey ct, nice to see ya got tubes again :) i missed ya, ya lug
mary mcc, thers thread last night. *sigh*
Lovely photos, Suz.
I’ve met very few people here formally. ;) We’ve been here at the same time before, though. Glad to remake your acquaintance.
Me, double, too.
Please do not make the mistake of assuming the angry Clinton women are feminists. Liberated women know they don’t have to vote republican light even if the candidate is female.
I like that. Love Muddy Waters.
My favorite is Baby please don’t go.
Beautiful, Suz!
I did some serious jonesing for awhile there…! ;-)
And it’s worth noting that many Clinton supporters, most I would guess, are fans and supporters in good faith, and genuinely believe she would make the best President.
Honey, vinegar…
Honey, vinegar…
Sorry, I was trying to create a label for the Debbie Wasserman-Schultz’s in Hillary’s camp who are single-mindedly determined as much as Hillary is. I did not mean to imply that all feminists are in the same camp, because I know they’re not.
Bob in HI
Great photos. Stephanie looks so young, but she’s in college. College kids just keep getting younger.
Woops. Wrong assumption. I voted for Hillary in California, and dumped her over Bosnia.
I’m going to make a prediction…
Dems will win 11/4, we’ll get a majoity, but it won’t be veto proof and I can’t say fer shure it will be Obama.
On 11/5, we all need to take up the voting machine mantra.
thanks for filling in for me, eureka. i knew i left the pups well taken care of :)
as soon as baby girl crossed the state line, i’m headed to sleep - oy, this marrying off of daughters is hard forking work and an even harder party. dayam, i can’t keep up with them young’uns any more
loohoo, that dress looked fantastic on her - even better than when she first tried it on and i burst into tears at the salon. wait until i get more photos in… i’ll be posting em at my place as they come in
cujo, she’s all grown up. it was harder knowing she was driving back to utah than it was watching jen get married. i still think of her as my baby girl - but she is a grown woman - and an EMT :)
Hey Margot, good stuff there!
I was generalizing about the Clinton supporters who have yet to deal with the inevitable.
