I almost fell on Walter Shapiro trying to get out of my seat and follow Harriet Christian as she was being ejected yesterday from the DNC’s Rules Committee meeting. Since that time, the video of her has become a YouTube hit (over 260,000 views since yesterday evening) and something of a Rorschach test for how people view what’s going on in the Democratic party. Drudge linked to her, and she’s become quite the online phenomenon.
But one of the most interesting things has been the plethora of YouTube responses. Some thoughtful, some less thoughtful, but all of them voicing things that many Americans may believe but pundits are afraid to tackle.
I’ll let them speak for themselves:

Morning Jane. Another controversial thread, no doubt.
And who is this guy in the first video?
Hi, Jane. Thanks for your efforts live-blogging and YouTubeing yesterday! It was much better–and less painful–than listening to the MSM shitbag patter.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I love the one with the Peter Frampton clip. That was VERY funny.
So, how long until the Sunday Morning Self-congratulatory Talking Head Millionaire Pundits have Ms. Harriet on to discuss her views about American Politics and McCain’s Maver-Ickieness?
Ding. An new 15 minutes of fame career is launched!
Jane!
You are soooooooooo Baaaaaaaaaaaaad!
Putting the ‘little people’ up here where many can see them.
My faith in you and this site is restored.
Democracy is for Democrats; Democrats are for the People!
I hope they get her on before Wolf Blitzer gets that Larry guy on to talk about his night in the limo with Obama. Dang, this season is going to be crazy.
Time for Hillary to renounce and reject Harriet Christian?
I wonder if Harriet woke this morning and thought about making a fool of herself on national TV. I’m fairly certain that the AAs in this country were not impressed with her statement that she felt like a second class citizen. Bunch of hogwash.
Harriet Christian for Secretary of State!!!!!
From Noooo Yawk even!
“Inadequate Black Man”
I will have to add that to his full Christian name.
You are a male…right?
She sounded like Tom Leykis making fun of old people who call his show and tell him how awful he is.
Please do :)
And I just keep wondering who’s pulling the strings.
In 2000 we had the Brooks Brothers Riot, now we have the Sister Christiansen Riots.
Hopefully time will begin to heal some of these wounds, because any feminist or progressive who would vote for McCain out of spite is a lunatic or an loser.
-G
Yo, Harriet, go get a slice and a coke. Chill.
“You got some fuckin’ balls comin’ in here with this shit…“
Jane, I never did get to say THANK YOU so much for being there for us yesterday. And what a “reporter’s nose” you have to trample Walter to get at Harriet. LOL!
SMOOOTH move!
You are VERY appreciated in my home. If it weren’t for you and ew and the FDL crew, mr. siri would have to listen to me about all of this far more that he does, and for that, HE IS GRATEFUL. say’s he’d mow your lawn or something if we lived where you are. lol!
Harriet Honey…if you live in Manhattan these days, you had better either have a rent stabilized apartment, or tons of money. With all of your dripping jewelry and the ability to go to Washington and hang out all day to curse the party leaders…I would say you fall more into the latter category than the former. You must be one of those old women who clutch their purses when a well dressed black man gets into the elevator with you. On the real side…my God, I didn’t realize how many closet bigots we have in our party. They aren’t all old either. That’s why I have decided to become an independent. Hey Harriet, thanks for firming up that decision for me. You and Geraldine, that is…
ROFL!!! outa da PARK! BobbyG!!!!!
Harriet is very angry and shrill. But, make no mistake about it, there are millions of Democrats that share her point of view, if not her temperament.
To win, Obama’s campaign is going to have to target the following groups, in this order of importance:
1]Hillary supporters;
2]Independents;
3]Soft Obama supporters;and
4]Soft McCain supporters.
More narrowly, these groups will need to be targeted in these states, in this order of importance: [2,3 and 4 could be reordered]
1]Ohio;
2]Michigan;
3]Pennsylvania; and ,
4]Florida.
“Sister Christian” wasn’t that a Night Ranger song? Oh yeah…
*g
Ding!
We have a winner #5 takes the prize!
As the perfect example of an Obama supporter he gets to spend a wonderful weekend at the mansion Rezko helped Michelle buy for Barry. They will spend some quality time together and view ‘Birth of a Nation’ by D.W. Griffin. A big BBQ feed featuring plenty o’ ribs, black eyes peas and sweet potato pie will be a highlight.
Maybe SNL can do a “girl tawk” skit “The Harriett and Geraldine Show”.
‘eh?
We wish this video is going to drive voter turnout for Obama that and Harriet’s open performance is going to shame GOP moderates away from McCain.
The GOP Secret Racist code only works if the Moderate voters don’t get embarrassed by their more openly racist wing.
Suburbia is all about Respectability and Harriet just cost McCain allot of the Hilary or the damm the world were voting McCain vote.
Linked by Drudge? Gaaah.
No we need McCain to hug this lady! and Hilary!
On the other hand, it seems that the Democratic Party cannot afford to shame people like that so much that they are too embarrassed to participate in Democratic politics anymore.
I would perhaps take issue with “millions.” Dunno.
EPU’d point I proffered:
Harriet Christian (my reading of her, anyway) does not want McCain.
She’s stating what to her is an obvious fact: McCain will be the next president. I think that’s partly why she’s so angry. We need, desperately need a Democrat in the White House.
Several people in my town have told me the same thing, in a very resigned way. They sure aren’t going to vote for McC but they see no hope of an Obama win.
They hear all the idiotic talking points that get spread by preachers and emailers. And a whole lot of people here believe their preachers, and their relatives who email them.
True. But you gotta get elected President first. And you gotta get nice comfy majorities in the Senate and House to have a successful presidency.
We didn’t do this she did this all on her own. Although we did watch the video but I couldn’t stop myself.
707. That’s fuckin’ hilarious.
good one, kinda like mini-reality-tv
Actually, she said what Hillary and Bill have been saying to the super delegates. I think daylight and disinfectant is what the Democratic party needs. This party has been “playing” diversity for a long time. It’s still playing. Hillary and Bill tapped into it in order to drive up her votes. At first it really hurt to hear this stuff out of our party, but now…with the open racism in the re-thug party and ours spilling out all over the place, the world will finally see us for the fakes we truly are.
I dunno. I read an enticing argument recently throwing cold water on the idea of max get-out-the-vote participation. Basically, if you’re such a limbic-driven lunatic Star of Your Own Psychodrama incapable of rational parsing and getting up to speed on the tedious non-YouTube Momeent details of governance and policy, maybe you should just stay home and shout at your TeeVee.
Nah…
Ya just gotta believe…and spread around a whole lot of cash. Frankly, Senator SnakeOil is gonna be a real embarrassment once Americans get a load of his curriculum vitae ala Rezko and the Illinois Machine.
Repu’ublicists and Hillaristas misunderestimate The Sheikh at their peril. Think back.
You do realize that the Magic Man only won in low turn out states? They call ‘em Caucus states but that is in fact what they are.
(Johnny Olsen)
Low Information Voters, come on down!
(Johnny Olsen)
Sigh.
Margot, I suspect you are right, but the McCain folks will be trumpeting this video like it’s an endorsement of McCain from Jesus at Calvary right before the nails went in.
Let’s face it, McCain is Reagan’s ideological heir in every way… a union-busting, flat-earther who wants to run the country on deficits and war until the end of time… Ms Harriet may have been making that point, but she misses one or two minor details about Obama…
-his incredible network both on and off “the toobz”
-his intelligence and dedication to what he says is “change”
-his willingness to answer questions and admit fault, something that neither McSame nor Hillary are willing or able to do (HRC: the Iraq war resolution, why I was for my triangulated vote before I was you know well… )
Sadly the SCLM will pick up on her screaming and run it out of context for oh say, the next month or longer.
It is this simple, if Obama doesn’t get a huge percentage[80%+] of Clinton’s supporters, he will lose the GE.
Thanks Jane! Being frustrated with our political system (especially dealing with the evil Bush Administration) is understandable but Harriet Christian’s bigoted, hateful and spoiled brat comments are wrong on all accounts. Even her willingness to hand the election over to the disastrous neo-con McCain because she didn’t get her way is especially childish and troubling.
Alas there is usually a silver lining, I think we found a qualified replacement for Bill O’Lielly when he chooses (or run out of town) to retire.
We shall see. We shall see.
Is that you Harriet?
Hilary can make sure we get the Hilary supporters by conceding and then working to ensure her supporters back McCain.
If she’s not willing to that, one has to question whether she is concerned for the welfare of anyone but herself.
Change McCain to Obama in that last. My brain has not started working yet.
Several people in my town have told me the same thing, in a very resigned way. They sure aren’t going to vote for McC but they see no hope of an Obama win.
For sure, Obama has a built-in disadvantage. With all of the racism in America, a black man has a lot of people that will vote against him just on reflex. You could make the same argument about Hillary, and substitute sexism for racism. There’s also advantages to each side, Obama will benefit from increased participation of blacks, and Hilary would bring in more women.
Neither one was my first choice, I kind of wish the Democrats had played it safe and nominated a white male candidate. My first choice was Edwards, but in the final analysis, Edwards is probably less electable than either Clinton or Obama.
In any case, it’s over. Obama is going to be the nominee. We need to start thinking about how to get him past McCain. To misquote Rumsfeld, you go to the General Election with the candidate you have, not the one you wish you had.
First, a thank you to Jane and EW for yesteday’s reporting.
Second, can someone explaine YouTube? Sometimes I get sound with it, but more often not. No error message, and I can’t figure out why no sound sometimes.
Yeah. Fuck, fuckity-fuck. Fuck me…
Ding. Let’s drag out all of her debate vidclips effusively praising The Sheikh. Recall?
HAHAHAHAH!!!! You are a right-wing mole!
Be sure and watch #5 pal. There’s were the Magic Man loses his magic. You want that guy on your team right?
Even if you disagree with what Harriet is upset about that guy is gonna be your poster boy for Senator ‘Yes We Can!’
If I’m McCain that’s the clip I show.
You on a fat pipe? (broadband)
I think gas going to $5 a gallon might help convince the Hilary voters. That and increased food costs for Rice, wheat, soybeans, milk etc.
That’s pretty funny. What did this lady expect? They were going to seat all the delegates and give them all to Hillary? That’s about the only way she could’a won. Manufactured issue being railed upon by either a math major who can’t read or an english major who can’t add.
Margot, I suspect you are right, but the McCain folks will be trumpeting this video like it’s an endorsement of McCain from Jesus at Calvary right before the nails went in.
Well, the Republicans already have the racist-American vote locked up, so I don’t think this gains them anything. As many might be turned off by this disgusting display as are attracted to it. More, I hope.
I love the last video above in particular. That’s goin’ out to my mailing list. LOL!
The economy is going to be the number 1 issue in the fall. That will help Obama.
Perhaps. Hillary will take it to the convention, barring the superdelegates commit before then. The supers don’t want to, but Nancy Pilosi will strong-arm the ones she can. Given the natural caution of politicians, it will be interesting to see if Speaker Pilosi can apply that much pressure.
I won’t be surprised if it goes to convention. I won’t even be especially surprised if Hillary gets the nomination. Time to stock up popcorn supplies.
This is not going to the Convention, unless a black swan lands in our nominating pond.
HuH?
No expects the black swan!
I gotta idea that Thers’ post last night has changed the Lake for-evah. LOL.
I watched them all. There are morons of all sizes and colors in the country. I never got any of them confused with either candidate.
To quote (roughly) Thers.. Fuck Nancy Pelosi
I LUVS me Taleb!
This guy says it so much better than I can…
We’re Democrats…Not Republicans….
Dammmit, the FDL magnet pulled me out of the sunshine in into my cave again. Powerful thing! Question: Just looked at the first video (eloquent black man). Was he unscripted? Amazing speaker.
Assuming the ruling yesterday is appealed, and my understanding of the rules is correct (as it may well not be), I don’t think the nomination CAN be formally awarded until convention.
If a large number of supers commit for Obama, then it will be over de facto, but that will require some fortitude on the part of those superdelegates representing states/districts that went for Hillary.
I hope you are right, but I fear you are not.
True racism is a factor and I am sure that there are a lot of people who lie to pollsters about planning to voting for Obama or Hilary but won’t vote for an African American or a Women.
However there is also Bush’s low approval rating, high gas and food rices a falling Dollar, the fact the GOP picked a Candidate who is having worse Senior Moments than second term Reagen. I mean come on we’ve been at war for 7 years and he still doesn’t know the difference between Shia and Sunni?
This is a perfect storm for the GOP and if the last few special elections are any indicator we will win in GOP districts because the GOP tried to link our candidates in those special elections to Obama and they still won in some very GOP districts.
Perhaps. Hillary will take it to the convention, barring the superdelegates commit before then.
I predict that Obama will have enough comitted delegates and superdelegages by the end of this week (June 5, if not June 3) to officially declare that the nomination sewed up. I’m not being Kreskin here, but he just needs to poll at 50% at the remaining states and pick up about 20 supers. A lot of the superdelegates are waiting for June 3 to declare, and when they do, even if most of them go for Hillary, it isn’t going to matter. Obama only needs a fraction. I don’t see any for the math to work out that Obama DOESN’T have a mathematical lock this week.
The only recourse after that would be a rules challenge by the Hillary supporters at the convention, or some kind of major scandal that causes a bunch of committed delegates to uncommit. Anything is possible, but I dont see either of those things being very likely.
The Man from Liberal Mountain does have a way with words. I didn’t know ‘doxa’ until just the other day. Whatta guy.
And he is correct. I find it hard to believe our timid Speaker will take any decisive action.
You know, i have to say I’m getting really pissed at our party leaders. I mean REALLY. PISSED.
It’s not like we (as a party) have not already been abused and put through a ringer with this misAdministration. We’ve been completely abused as a people by our president and want so badly to come together and take back our country, and we have this huge fear based split in the party, and they do nothing about letting this drag on. What exactly do they think leaders are supposed to be for???
I’m referring to the supers, Pelosi, Reid, Gore, ALL OF THEM. How much do they really think we can be put through and why are they allowing this to drag on like this. I feel disrespected and like not one of them cares about any of us.
They never do!
Clusterfuck wasted no time advertising his low Iraq casualty number for May…he hopes to help goopers in November by keeping the number low.. don’t know if it will work- it might move the war down the priority list for voters.
So?
You are not a low-info voter. That’s not the case for most folks. And personally I found #5 over the top and given that I have a real high tolerance for boneheads talkin’ sh$%t that should worry the Obamafans.
Just tellin’ everyone who doesn’t luv them some O-man they are racists, a continuing theme in the battle so far and now adding on the ‘best git yo ass out of the U.S.’, which by the way is an old Reich Wing line, does not, on the surface, appear to be a winning campaign theme.
Almost 80 comments and know one has Dugg this for Jane…. Come on Pups start digging this Post for Jane!
I still have to read that book! I am so behind in my reading.
By definition
Sadly though, as these videos attest, there are a lot of low information voters out there (I feel sorry for the poor guy that didn’t get why Obama was not on the ballot). They will push McCain’s (faux) maverickyness, and say he’ll be able to push the Saudis into lowering prices. Lots of folks will probably buy that malarky. November is not a sure thing, thanks to good ol’ corporate media.
Uh…yeah, Childers rates 75 on Progressive Punch.
That’s not a Democrat rating. That’s ReThug land never mind Blue Dog territory.
lol… I remember losing a bet in 3rd grade over the JFK/Goldwater race. I follow this stuff. The people I’m talking about absolutely don’t. They may vote, in a “really important” election. That’s it.
The way I can see to approach people, myself, is to greet them with a hug (these are people I know, not strangers) and to say, “I would ask in the spirit of fellowship, that we all come together for the good of the country. Let’s vote to put our country first, for once. Let’s vote to make our middle class great again, to afford college for our kids again, and medical care for all of us. We can do it if we all pull together.”
so, why do you like clinton?
Americans are pissed about gas prices- but millions still go out and buy NEW 10 MPG SUVs- just cause they can. Incredible…
So, what exactly is the status of yesterday’s compromise? Here are some links:
– KagroX at Dkos, who thinks that the RBC exceeded its authority: http://dailykos.com/storyonly/…..443/526373
– Ohiobama a knowlegeable commenter, who disagrees: http://www.dailykos.com/commen…..1/681#c681
– Marcy “emptywheel” Wheeler, MI voter and blogger extrordinaire, who live-blogged yesterday’s RBC doings (but you knew that) is upstairs now.
Got my shovel back from Kevin James and dugg it.
JFK/ Goldwater?
When was that?
I remember JFK/Nixon and Johnson/Goldwater
I live in Texas. I’m not under estimating racism. We may not make it. On the other hand, anyone who thinks HRC wouldn’t take a shitload of sexists and personal attacks, at least equal to the effect of racism isn’t being realistic. Given the fact that Obama has won the primary, which actually became apparent about three months ago, any attacks on him only help the Republicans. So, I don’t see your point in the insults. If we end up disillusioned, so be it. There’s no further need for you to try and warn us.
Could someone tell me if there was some difficulty in “finding out where this convention was being held”?
There are a lot of low information voters out there we call them 30%ers :)
but even though they are immune to reality with its well known liberal bias as Steven Colbert says they are emotional voters.
They are anger junkie voters and right now possible $5 gas and a bad economy well that is never good for the party that holds the White House. This election looks like a replay of the Carter Reagen race with Obama running against a Party in control that presided over high gas prices a failed middle east policy and most importantly a bad economy.
According to the news reports I see here in FL they can’t give the damn things away. Those who can pay cash rather than borrow to buy a vehicle continue to buy these monsters but others, not so much. The car lots here are full of them and they only move to get washed. The car dealers are also reluctant to take them in trade because they get stuck with ‘em. One dealer said he’s got SUV trade-ins on the lot that have been there for over a year.
Thank you for the links.
I believe Ickes intends to appeal regardless (I subscribe to Rachel Maddow’s take on all this), so that Hillary can make a plea for the supers in Denver.
Oh heck. Sorry, it must have been Goldwater /Johnson.
McBu’ush is gonna need the help of a major False Flag Code Brown incident this fall. Terrah, Terrah, Terrah.
I think Hilary is going to the convention and say I got this many states I deserve to be VP.
Let me put in simple words:
She can beat McCain. Barry….uh..maybe, probably not.
I hope you are right, although the 30%ers don’t represent all the low-information voters (think ’soccer moms’).
As things stand, the economy will probably win out for Democrats, but there will be a jingoistic play of some kind made late-summer (most likely an attack on Iran), and I hope we can counter the Chicken Littles of the world that kept John Kerry out in 04.
We shall see. Peeps thus far have come to rue having misunderestimating The Sheikh.
Bobby,
Hillary has received roughly 17.6M primary votes per wiki while Obama has received roughly 17.8M.
In 2004, roughly 122.2M total voters for the presidency with Bush receiving 62M and Kerry 59M, again per wiki
Do you really think there are that many new voters available to get Obama over the top without Clinton supporters?
how can she beat mccain if she can’t beat barry?
1,859 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen 1divasinger and the FirepupFreedom Fighters:
“I think daylight and disinfectant are just what the Democratic Party needs. This party has been “playing diversity” for a long time.”
Beautifully said Citizen! Now all Firepup Patriots, read this patriotic citizen’s post and take it to heart. The only way we beat this diabolical, fascist political strategy of playin’ the common people against themselves is to expose those folks like the M*Clintons for what they are, reach out to their followers and ORGANIZE!!! One million new voters from the college campuses, high schools, single workin’ parents, veterans, people of color, all these folks can bury the old politics.
What I think was exposed yesterday, in addition to the real nature of Mrs. M*Clinton’s politics and political motivations, is the real nature of the socially accepted women’s movement of the last 40+ years: it’s a Jim Crow middle class sorority. The women’s movement was co opted by the oligarchy to use against the other elements of the “common folk”. What we are seein’ here is the use of those M*Clinton followers as Kamikaze shock troops against any effort to create a new Democratic Party coalition based on class that includes what’s left of the middling classes without the compromise with the devil that was FDR’s coalition with the racist Dixiecrats.
Let’s reach out to those blind followers of Mrs. M*Clinton, not on bended knee but straight up, reachin’ down into the gutter in which they have been led by a bride of the oligarchy. We don’t need the last die hard followers of the bride of Goldwater to win…we only need to offer them redemption and then move on and bury them.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, THERE ARE MORE OF US THAN THERE ARE OF THEM!!!
I don’t think Hillary has any interest in bein Veep.
That’s a job for a younger person who can live off the development in name recognition for 8 years and then become prez…
There’s nothin in that job for Hillary.
Yeah I agree he needs a real terror attack the old gays getting married bit does not seem to be exciting the GOP Anger Junkies and despite Lou Dobbs not allot of of Minute Men want to pick fruit or work the McDonalds drive through.
Even linking our special election House candidates to Obama is not working so yeah there only shot at wining is Terror!
The game’s not quite over yet. And I really think Obama supporters need to look beyond the racism issue. Personally I think if Obama does lose it will have more to do with his mistakes and his deep roots with the Illinois Machine.
Most Americans don’t know anything about Rezko, Auchi and the rest of that story.
But the ReThugs are sure to tell them. Please don’t use the argument that Hillary has negatives. That’s like saying the sun will come up tomorrow.
Obama’s negative story will be like an major earthquake as it conflicts so much with his narrative of himself.
Please attack Iran before the election just let me fill up my gas tank first if $5 a gallon gas helps Obama $10 a gallon gas and Obama will beat FDR’s margins of victory.
Accept being there just in case.
The Sheikh’s peeps are about to launch the largest new voter registration drive in history, staffed by the largest street-level volunteer group in history. The upshot of that, combined with Hillary supporters who will eventually come to their senses — unless she visibly withholds her support — may well do the trick. Look forward, not back.
…past results are no guarantee of future performace. Read the prospectus carefully…
Except perhaps for quick “succession” ahem.
You are, as always, RIGHT FUCKIN” ON, Brother BobbyG!!!
Where have you been pal.
If you don’t understand this by now I’m sorry I don’t have an hour to educate you. You can start here:
http://hominidviews.com/?p=1575
then:
http://hominidviews.com/?p=1574
some stuff on caucus vs. primary
http://www.talkleft.com/story/2008/5/27/92144/7994
Short form: Obama’s ‘win’ in the primary is an artifact of the screwed up primary system which he will not be able to duplicate in the GE.
No creditable, let me say that again, no creditable site dedicated to analysis of the EC shows Obama being a better bet to win than Clinton.
As things stand, the economy will probably win out for Democrats, but there will be a jingoistic play of some kind made late-summer (most likely an attack on Iran), and I hope we can counter the Chicken Littles of the world that kept John Kerry out in 04.
I can’t see how America would be stupid enough to fall for that again, but once the press machine gets wound up, maybe the Republicans will get a temporary boost from invading another weak country. But honestly, they’s have to schedule it within a month of the election to still be within the bounce effect, and you’d have to be an idiot to not see that as a ‘wag the dog’ scenario. It remains to be seen how many idiots there are in America that vote. The last two elections have proven that there are quite a few.
Speaking for myself, an invasion of Iran would really piss me off, but the rage meter is already stuck at 100% and has been since 2003. I can’t believe that Bush hasn’t been impeached yet. I’m going to be really pissed at the Democrats if they don’t start impeachment proceedings immediately … Ah, what the hell, they don’t have the guts.
I have noticed your contribution to threads concerning hillary and women in general are filled with speech and tone that I find highly offensive. I think it is angry, misogynistic, and hatefilled. I do not appreciate it and I do not find it appropriate in a place where open and respectful disagreement should be encouraged and welcome. None of this helps the candidate that you so openly support. It is exactly the timbre of conversations that drives me farther and farther from him.
That is the danger, indeed. It will be a ’surgical strike’ – they can hope to minimize speculation with that (yeah, right). I know they’d love to get boots on the ground (so that a solider would be killed and therefore require staying forever to ‘honor the sacrifice’), but that would almost certainly insure the scenario you describe.
An Indonesian strike would have the same problem. Funny how all the ‘enemies’ of this Oil Man Administration just happen to be sitting on oil. Short of a false flag op on U.S. soil, their hands are awfully tied. I don’t know if they are that crazy or not (I know the Administration players are, but the poor guys that would actually have to do something might be a little more circumspect).
I hope for all of our sakes that you are correct. However I’m not willing to lay all my money on it which means that continually alienating the Clinton supporters with superior attitudes and condescending remarks about how “they’ll come to their senses” is probably not a good way to guarantee the desired outcome.
As always, YMMV.
well, i guess, the sun will come up tomorrow. :)
No shortage of Pig Missiles at this convention.
Did you notice that the same Democrats who can’t seem to Impeach Mr. Bush are the ones who are so excited and ‘behind’ Senator Obama?
The first vid clip on this post is spot on.
There is no difference between the current Democratic Party and the Republicans.
Smugness is not a virtue.
Clearly you did not use my links nor read everything linked to.
You should consider Mark Twain’s famous quote.
What are the numbers of Hilary supporters who will defect? What are the numbers of McCain supporters who will stay home because they know there guy has no chance in their state.
How do higher gas prices correlate with the percent of voters who vote against the party in power?
Also Obama is winning the very low population states that are very cheap tv markets but have per capita much more electoral votes per person again at cheaper tv ad costs.
He might not win those states against McCain but he will make McCain spend money to defend states that the GOP has not defended since Reagen.
Link?
lol;)
You show good sense as Ol’ Bobby G and the dude in clip #5?
They ARE who supports Obama. And it has nothing to do with race except in so far as more black males are sexist than white. Fact not fiction.
Re: “Obama’s negative story”.
Why are you pretending that miles of footage and ink have not already been put forth on the so called, “Obama’s negative story”? The mighty wurlitzer of the GOP has been hard at work trying to trash Obama for months now. Hillary Clinton has helped.
The GOP has already expended much ammunition to little effect. When the GOP is left on their own – without the help of Hillary Clinton and her forces – to run their cartoon character called McBush against Obama, they might not come up smelling as rosy as you would like to believe that they are guaranteed of doing.
The fact that Bush is effectively unimpeachable demonstrates the extent to which the current players are so neutered by corporate media (and corporate campaign donations). That same corporate media will play any U.S. military action in full jingo mode. The ploy will be obvious to us, of course, but nobody that can point that out will be let anywhere near an MSM microphone.
That is total crap.
I have a blog I could recommend for you, one where the slightest anti-HRC snark is reflexively viewed as “misogyny” and “hate speech” and “Obamabot thuggery.”
I caucused for Hillary here in NV. She then lost me at the “sniper fire” lie and the snide tactical “hardworking white Americans” allusion. Doesn’t have shit to do with gender. Spare me.
“so openly support? My support is of the net marginal type, with serious concerns.
LOL….I see you have ACitizens number, I can tell you from this posters previous posts on OpenLeft where he was banned, all the rhetoric comes from Obama derangement, the kind of derangement that makes the ReTHUG Clinton derangement look like nuttin>
Well, call me naive, but I was more susceptible to the inexperience argument than to the machine politician argument. I know you must have a lot of inside info on it, but I doubt the HRC campaign has held back much when, after 2/4 they began to panic. Also, the Republicans have spent a lot of time badmouthing Obama and patting Hillary on the back.
I don’t get your point on racism. My objective was to beat Republicans. I first favored one of the old hands, like Biden or Dodd; then Edwards; undecided/no favorite; then Obama after HRC’s “me and |John all prepared but the Democrat, not so much” statements. I think the nation has too many problems to try and make headway on either race or sex as first priority, but hope it turns out that progress can be made.
Otherwise, I had always supported both Clintons, believing that they had the good of the many at heart. It seems I was mistaken. I may be mistaken over the same belief in Obama, but now is not a time to get all queezy about the candidate.
It actually is over, because if HRC pulled something at the convention, I believe the Democratic Party would lose a far bigger faction than those HRC supporters who feel terminally alienated. I think all of the super delegates know that.
nor is the micro-partisanship constructive.
It’s probably been said upthread, but the guy in the first video is a friggin’ idiot.
I think I’ll call him “Skippy”. Get your facts straight, Skippy.
An Indonesian strike
What have you heard we can’t be thinking of attacking another country can we that would be mad I tell you Mad MAD!

Citizen Dakinikat:
That old bullshit of callin’ folks “misogynistic” and “hatefilled” because they have opened their eyes and seen the empress without her cloths just won’t work anymore. Don’tcha get it?!!
Women, men, people of color, young, old, veterans and resisters, all those folks connected by their common humanity and INTELLIGENCE are rejectin’ the fascist tactics you are offerin’ as a solution to the life threatening situation we face today.
No Citizen, it won’t work anymore…you are bein’ marginalized and the light has been shown on you and yours.
KEEP THE FAITH, PASS THE AMMUNITION AND ORGANIZE…YES WE CAN!!!
They haven’t even gotten started yet. You’re thinking, like many do, that the opinions and more importantly the distribution of opinion you see on the net is a reflection of the greater society.
It is not.
I’d appreciate it if you’d not put words in my mouth. I never said anything about ‘rosy’. What I am saying is an Obama candidacy is a disaster for the progressive movement. And if you think Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Madame Speaker et. al. are ‘progressive’ then you are watching too much MSNBC.
I have no idea the answer to your questions as I don’t have a crystal ball allowing me to predict the future.
The only thing I’m saying is that it probably is not a good idea to purposefully and arrogantly alienate a significant percentage of voters from the Democratic primary because you can.
I think Senator Obama understands this and is reacting accordingly. I’m not sure all of his supporters are understanding it.
Note: I will be voting for the nominee of the Democratic Party for president in November 2008.
Thank you.
Good to see you Froggy.
You are of course entitled to your opinion; pathetically ill-informed as it might be. And being banned by ‘BoneHead’ Bowers is something I have no problem with.
Guy cannot write nor think his way out of a wet paper bag.
Dude, you’re insulting the Bush Kangaroo… The One and Only Skippy.
I think ‘Mulder’ would be a better appelation. He’s not stupid per se (see clip#2 for ’stupid per se’), he just attributes everything to conspiracy.
“Suck it up…Clinton lost…Obama won…get over it.”
No one has won or lost yet except, it seems the degree of respectful discourse in here. I find an incredible amount of sexist and misogynistic overtones and stereo types in here and I’m quite offended by it …
Little pig just called soccer moms, ‘low-information’ voters, I also say Harriet Christian-who I happen to know actually from other blogs–called all kinds of mean, deragatory, sexist things in the other thread.
May I suggest that we are all progressives here and that demeaning democratic women with similar agendas because they do not find Obama to be a credible candidate is not in keeping with a progressive agenda.
What is there about Rezko, et al that the Clinton supporters haven’t already yelled about ad nauseum? Something new and juicy we don’t know about?
Inquiring minds want to know.
thank you Phil, it sure isn’t winning me over
BTW, here’s what I posted at the aforementioned Shrine of Hillary blog, shortly before getting banned:
You won’t find me poignantly screeching for any cameras outside committee hearing rooms.
Man, you have got your dismissive groove down!
Too damn bad your so busy yelling you can’t hear others concerns. You and the dude in clip #5….
Twins.
Gotta go.
So gallion froggy and twkster?
Spare yourself the high blood pressure.
See ya….wouldn’t wanna be ya!
well, that’ll inform him! lol
It’s coming sooner … something infinitely more embarassing on Monday …
Judging from what I saw in the video, Harriet deserves to be called a racist. She may not feel it in her heart, and may not be a bad person when she isn’t wound up, but it’s there for anyone to say. You say racist things, you get branded as a racist. That’s how it works.
Anyone to see, not anyone to say. Apparently, you can’t edit comments, or I don’t know how.

Citizen ACitizen:
Citzen AC, I too felt like you a long time ago, but we only marginalize ourselves by tryin’ ta project a “pure” politics in a democratic movement. Those people you site like Pelosi and Kerry are part of the problem but they and their politics are NOT the enemy. Don’t let’s make the perfect the enemy of the good here. If in fact, Obama turns out to be a Trojan Horse, then we will ORGANIZE ourselves and drive him out. That’s the way it works in a democracy…get it?
Don’t cut off yer foot because you have a sore toe!
KEEP THE FAITH, PASS THE AMMUNITION AND ORGANIZE…YES WE CAN!!!
Ok, thank you for participating in this Rorshach Test.
Dude, you’re insulting the Bush Kangaroo… The One and Only Skippy.
hmm, can’t have that – gimme a minute…
I was just thinking of places where jihadi action has been newsworthy, and so a plausible target for taking an action. That would deflect attention from the Middle East, and the players are not as well organized (although these days their Al-Queda structure is probably as intact as any – meaning ‘not so much’). But there is still a lot of oil coming from that part of the world, all the old Dutch Shell fields, so any “anti-terrorist” action there would probably contribute to oil price speculation inflation.
There’s just not any handy countries they can attack that won’t push oil prices up, unless they come up with new ‘bad guys’ (and the timeframe is a little short for that kind of PR push).
As I pointed out in another response. The ‘we’ of here in the ’sphere’ have heard a lot more about the Illinois machine than the average American voter.
If your question is of a sarcastic intent I can tell you that when McCain’s 527 start 24/7 with Wright, yes again, and Resko and Auchi you will no doubt be saying, ‘Hey, no fair’.
And yes there is supposedly a tape involving Michelle that is coming to the public soon and has been reported as ‘inflammatory’.
Kindly do not confuse the messenger with the message. And…yeah, take another look at clip five.
I’m now thinking of “Junior”. So – get yer facts straight, Junior.
Dang I was hoping you or somebody had the answers I know both parties have number crunchers working on these questions. They try to keep it secret to avoid influencing voters.
Obama is being very peaceful. But Bobby G has a point the Hilary blogs calling Obama the Sheik after 9/11 is racist and its a lying cheap shot attempt to link Obama to terror.
Hilary chose to lie about getting shot at by snipers, she chose not to say that she would change her vote on the war if she knew the truth.
Aw Heck your right if its over if we can’t say anything nice then we should stop talking about her it pisses people off.
Plus she can’t win the question is moot its over its been over for months fighting about it just hurts our side.
Please the MSM and many of the progressive blogs have served more as ‘fluffers’ for Obama than serious journalists whose job it is to vet public figures and dig into their backgrounds.
I feel exactly the way I felt in the lead-up to the Iraq war. That the press is NOT doing its job, and in fact is contributing to a HUGE and costly mistake.
This I can agree with.
I just get real tired of hearing about how Obama is gonna fix everything. Even if he was who he presents himself as…
He cannot do this.
It’s up to us the citizenry to keep sloggin and keep working until the vast majority of those elected represent us.
Not Goldman Sachs.
Be careful ACitizen, you are out in the open and the light is on ya…your words are your deeds here… just who is it that’s tryin’ ta split people against themselves?
And yes there is supposedly a tape involving Michelle that is coming to the public soon and has been reported as ‘inflammatory’.
Nobody but the Fox watchers and Drudgeites are going to care. Wolf has been cried too many times. The media and the right wingers have effectively inoculated Obama from this kind of thing. They blew their wad too early.
Threats…
Oh goody, I had thought you a reasonable guy but….
Listen.
If you don’t know the answer to that question you’d better start hitting the history books.
Doggone it, ’soccer moms’ were low-information voters! Anybody, male or female, that was truly in fear of encountering a terrorist on U.S. soil was being stupid.
I picked ’soccer moms’ because that was the appellation du jour. I’ve heard “NASCAR dads” but that never caught on with the MSM. It was not intended as sexism – there were just as many idiot men thinking the same thing.
I’m going to vote for the Democrat. Period, end, full stop. I think Hillary still has a chance of pulling the supers her way – I’m not counting her out and have never intimated same. I do think Hillary is playing a dangerous game by thinking she can turn her current right-ward PR orientation left-ward enough in the time remaining from convention to november to get enough votes, but I certainly don’t object to her trying.
Sheesh.
If you listen to CNN and read their exit poll information, in the states (those huge important in the GE swing states) Hillary has won, I’ve seen as high as 60 percent of Hillary Supporters will not vote for Obama right now. Obama has serious problems with a huge segment of democratic voters. This is why he’s been out pandering to them since Memorial day. He has serious issues with Jewish Americans, Hispanic Americans, the so-called Reagan Democrats, the over 50 crowd –especially women, folks without college degrees. These are essential swing votes and have been delivering republican victories when the DNC puts up folks like Dukkakis, Mondale, Kerry, and I believe Obama … he has about three demographics of the party and those are the same demographics that were the only voters in the McGovern campaign. The GE numbers are very bad for Obama and it’s not racism, contrary to left wing intellectual belief.
If no one cares, why did the Obama family just quit their church?
You and I carried on a fairly long, and I thought civil, discussion the other night. Your were explaining to me how the antipathy to the Obama campaign by women, was more complex that the fact that Hillary Clinton had come to stand for satisfaction over all of the unfairness and insults encountered in life in a male-dominated society. I never did understand your point. Last night, or this morning, you did have comment which indicated that Obama represented the young, unqualified males, given for you to train, and then selected to move up while you were given another clone to train.
I fully understand the last example. I am white male, but my daughter has experienced that exact thing in her career and I detest that situation. However, it seems to me that viewing the current primary as a sort of morality play illustrating that situation, is just not correct. You can invision Obama as a symbol, and Clinton as a symbol, but they are not. They are Democratic candidates, each entitiled to run for office, and their supposed goal was to beat the Republicans. It is critical to the country that one of them do.
I was just using your soccer mom stereotype as an example of the kinds of women-based imagary being used. You didn’t say Nascar Dads. If you’d have said both, it would’ve come of as a bit more even-handed.
“Hillary Supporters will not vote for Obama right now.”
_________
News flash: Election day is in November. Way too early to determine what will happen.
…there I go again…
I expect far worse from the Rethugs via their 527’s. I also expect Obama’s campaign to be able to effectively counteract each and every one.
I was only being half sarcastic. We can do little about low-info voters. They will believe what they want to believe. If the Rethug 527’s want to drag out a bunch of quasi-true ads, fine. If the low-info voters believe them, fine. I have a hunch, however, that the team Obama has put together to respond to these ads is far smarter than the folks who want to swift-boat Obama.
My personal experience with the Swift-Boaters showed me the caliber of people who were involved. I’m not worried about them.
Better safe than sorry – it’s just additional innoculation.
I think most churchy people will know that almost any pastor will say some wild stuff. And leaving the church will make some folks more sympathetic towards him. I believe Mark is right that Obama has pretty well insulated that one.
If this is true, then I suggest you rethink how you’re coming across, because that’s not what I’m seeing coming through on my monitor.

Citizen Dakinikat:
The fear in your words is palpable…and you are tryin ta scare us into supporting the lesser evil YOU understand.
Mrs.M*Clinton has shot her wad (so ta speak) and she knows it but a whole bunch of her supporters don’t… we can win this election without Mrs.M*Clinton and the Harriet Christans in her following.
KEEP THE FAITH PASS THE AMMUNITION AND STOP BEIN’ AFRAID OF YER FUCKIN SHADOW!!
That was more an attempt to be civil here on FDL than anything else. I don’t think the MSM came up with a term for the male equivalent, and I did not want to use my personal appellation for those men.
And that appellation refers to chicken excrement, which I don’t believe is a sexist term.
Obama speaks with a tone of voice that inspires many and annoys others…It sounds as if it’s emanating from a pulpit—he’s UP THERE- not DOWN HERE for many people…
That will be his biggest problem as we roll towards November.
Come off that mountain Obama!
What a great post! Obama certainly has Chicago ties but I was concerned about Hillary’s corporate ties. As David wrote about and many commenter’s discussed what happens when you have corporate control of the media. I’m a white female, late fifties and fit the mold of who should support Hillary, but I looked at the issues, whether that be economic or foreign policy. My choice was Obama.
You wanna see misogyny in everything, you go right ahead. I reject the moniker.
ALL of these candidates have corporate ties- Obama is the number one recipient of money from Wall Street for example.
There are no saints in politics.
Corporations are a fact of life in this country…they have concerns and they are going to work hard to get them addressed.
I gave up tv recently, I gave up CNN because of Lou Dobbs even before that:) If 60% of Hilary voters won’t vote for Obama well you should have led with that point.
But Jewish voters are going to have a hard time voting for McCain since Bush is giving the Saudis Nuclear reactor tech and URANIUM.
Hispanic voters well the Mexicans at least might prefer Hilary but they can’t vote GOP not if they keep watching Lou Dobbs and Glen Beck on CNN.
Because of the war and the economy this will be a high turnout election our side is angry. The GOP does better in low turnout elections where emotional voters dominate this is not the case now.
As far as women voters go do they drive, do they shop for food? To Survive is a need that must be met according to Maslow before you can pursue other needs.
Next your going to tell me that Santa doesn’t exist, either.
Thank you. I try to be civil. I know a lot of people are speaking from anger these days –like Harriet Christian– and things are flying out of their mouths and fingers in blogs that should be edited with a more level mind. I do not think this is the only dynamic. My main concerns are with Obama’s poor judgement in associations as well as his perpetual mangling of things off teleprompter. He has said contradictory things on FARC and Chavez and on unconditional presidential dialogue with countries of questionable intent (specifically Iraq and Cuba). Additionally, he’s had some major misspeaks that remind me of Dubya–like 1000 killed in the Kansas tornado when it was 12. I’ll give him the tired argument when he mistook Sunsrise Florida for Sunshine, Sioux Falls for Sioux City, and the 57 state comment. I do have issues with him calling women journalists sweetie and some of his comments and demeanour towards Hillary –specifically the not so subtle finger, the ‘likeable enough comment’ and the way he tries to pat her while shaking her hand. I also think it odd that he doesn’t know that Afghanis don’t speak Arabic and that they speak Portuguese in Brazil; not spanish.
NorskeFlamethrower, I’m likin’ you more and more.
Just out of curiosity, have you ever read Marx’ Capital?
understood
If no one cares, why did the Obama family just quit their church?
I think it was related to Rev. Pflegler’s sermon that is now a big hit on You Tube. The part where he talks about Clinton’s sense of entitlement is really funny (about 2 minutes in), and they played it on Meet the Press this morning. He’s funnier than just about anyone on SNL now.
As funny as that clip is, I think it’s right that Obama dissassociated himself from it. I think there’s elements of truth to it, but he needs the Hillary voters now, so he doesn’t need to be aligned with that kind of negativety right now. For myself, I laughed out loud at that clip. Pflegler’s delivery is flawless.
Why is it ‘critical’ if neither have any any real intention to change things?
That is in fact the political reality.
There will be no significant change under either.
No:
Solar Grand Plan
No ‘oversight’ in the House.
No ‘accountability’ in the House.
No reform of the disaster that is ‘No Child Left Behind’
No withdrawal from our occupation of Iraq.
No rebuilding of our infrastructure.
And why not?
Because there’s no money in any of these for the polticians, or at least they don’t think there is.
This is why the candidates personalities and tactics matter so much. Obama and his campaign are crippled with sexism. Clinton has her problems from her and her husband’s past decisions.
So the campaign revolves around ID politics, gender and racial issues instead of policy. Sadly, even the most informed of the citizenry as you can see from this thread and thousands of others on every other site have fallen for this. That’s why this Democratic primary so resembles what the Republicans do.
Until the people demand solutions to our problems and take the time to install progressives who will listen to and act on those demands….
It will be ‘More of the Same’.
The sweetie comment bothered me also, but there is no way I could listen to “My friend” in the White House for four years.
Jewish voters are going to have a hard time voting for McCain since Bush is giving the Saudis Nuclear reactor tech and URANIUM.
_________
That just blows my mind. Enriched uranium, to boot. Givin’ that shit to the teetering House of Saud. Why don’t we just drop off a load in Tora Bora while we’re at it? Save them a trip.

Wouldn’t the fascists jest LOVE Obama to come down off the mountain and join ‘em in the gutter!! But he won’t and that’s why he’s slowly and relentlessly marchin’ right over the bastards.
Brother Cole, you continue to advance the fascist memes and lables for the progressives in this fight…when push comes ta shove, and it WILL, the folks that don’t see their interests served by the ruling oligarchy are gunna identify with Obama. In fact, I believe we’ve passed the watershed…this race is all about the new voters and the progressives in the Democratic Party. Those old corporatists who rely on cuttin’ coupons and the stock market are shit outta luck.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION…YES WE CAN!!

Only excerpts in the “Marx Engles Reader”…I don’t speak German and I ain’t nearly smart enough to pretend to understand it comepletly but yes, what I understand of it makes a whole lot more sense than that mystic Adam Smith.
KEEP THE FAITH AND HAVE NO FEAR…THERE ARE MORE OF US THAN THERE ARE OF THEM!!!
“Snake Oil” “Rezko” and “Illinois Machine”? that’s really the best you got?
come to chicago and i’ll buy you a beer on president obama’s inauguration night, ok?
Ossama is from Saudi Arabia so were the majority of the 9/11 hijackers giving the Saudis uranium is like giving it to Ossama, plus I am pretty sure Saudia Arabia has never signed a peace treaty with Israel.
I know. It’s like WTF? The mind boggles.
Well, if you think that Obama is not bright enough to be president, and believe the gaffes you listed warrant another Republican presidency, I won’t try to understand any better or persuade you otherwise.
Great! Why are we even talking about pastors? Because we have bought the re-thug meme….just like “democrat party.” Just stop it! People are willing to take this country into a further abyss…just because you have excepted the Geraldine Ferraro meme…stop it! Please don’t follow these rich people over the cliff…they don’t give a damn about you…only your votes.
It is over. I really wish the first woman president could have been the theme…But, if you do the McCain thing…you really don’t understand….but you do what you want, this is what the vote is all about!
Perfect response to these people, Citizen Crosstimbers. I’m gunna try and learn from you when ta let go and move on. Good response…thanx.
Oh, I thought you were pro Clinton, anti Obama. No point in arguing. I not ready to throw up baracades yet and I can vote as well as bitch over the internet, so I’ll leave you alone to your own projects.
Oh by giving I mean giving Bush begged the Saudi King again for lower oil prices the information leaked to the press again and Bush went home empty handed again.
We need to ask McCain if he will continue Bush’s energy policy…on his knees!
Bwahahaha!
I still can’t believe Bush complained about Bill’s lack of an Energy policy?
Beg for oil is a plan? I wonder if Bush’s economic plan is to beg the taxpayers for a bank bailout?
Penquin Classics has an English edition. Long, hard read (1200 pages) and I’m not through it yet. It isn’t taught anywhere but is still considered one of the best texts on capitalism. As far as I know nothing in it has been successfully refuted. What Marx talks about being the long term consequences of capitalism are coming home to roost.
I have long been an irredeemable Marxist.
Comrades.
Which one lived the longest?
You could easily do a lengthy 3 column side-by-side gaffe bullet list for the current contenders. BFD.
Groucho.
Marx Brothers, Laurel and Hardy, W C Fields. Doesn’t get any better than that.
Fields’ son wrote a book about his father and included a quote I had heard but never quite believed came from W C:
“Water? You wanna know why I don’t drink water? Because fish fuck in it, that’s why.”
Cable. Is that the same thing? I’m never sure which is which in that terminology.
Anything above dial-up. DSL is weakly “broadband.” For consumers, cable is effectively broadband. T1 for business.
Check out You Tube’s very helpful ‘help’ information. It might very well answer your questions about the problems you’re having there.

For the life of me, I don’t get why a person is called a racist if they do not support Barack Obama. I do not support him because of his history in climbing the political ladder especially regarding his legislative agenda in Illinois. His explanations for bad decisions and associations, twisting in the wind depending on who is in the audience, his lack of specific policy is just a sample of resons that I beleive he is not ready for the job. The fact that he is black, especially regarding that he is of mixed race, makes no difference to me what so ever. His use of his race has been a problem for me and I am someone who recognises and condemns racism in any way. But to use race as a rebuttal argument is shameful also.
For the life of me, I don’t get why a person is called a racist if they do not support Barack Obama.
I personally have not witnessed that. However, Harriet Christian deserves to be called a racist, not because of her non-support of Obama, but due to her racist statements, which are clearly enunciated in the video above.
Now, she might be a nice person one on one, but you can’t say things like that and not affect other people’s opinion of you. I have a feeling that this video is something that Ms. Christian is going to regret for a long time.
Just to expand on what I said above: There are a lot of people who criticise Obama who are NOT racist. Ms. Christian is not one of them. I agree it’s unfair to lump them all together.
”Perfect response to these people”
These people.
???
Ya mean the 50 percent of the electorate that don’t agree with you? Hello?
Here’s the thing: anyone who says we have a problem created by party leaders is wrong.
We are the party.
How we talk to each other matters. We are either building the party, or we are tearing it down. Devisive speech is a big part of the problem.
thanks. I’ll try it.
Harriet is no doubt a Republican.
Many Republicans have joined Hillary’s loud campaign, just to throw a monkey wrench into Obama’s campaign.
Pppsssttt! GOP! This is 2008, not 1988. Your old fashioned tactics don’t work anymore. (There is a reason why most of Hillary’s base consists of old voters.)
By the way, I also loved the woman, who claimed she had been “manhandled” while being thrown out of the proceedings yesterday. She proudly displayed her bruises, that she claimed those people removing her gave.
Uh huh. Bruises get THAT dark in a few minutes. Uh huh. Are those rabid Hillary supporters (oops, I mean Republicans) really THAT stupid that they think everyone hasn’t had a bruise and know how long they take to get deep purple?
Every Obama “controversy” has been covered, covered, and covered again on CNN, Fox, ans MSNBC.
I just can’t fathom the fucking stupidity of anyone who would vote for McCain because Hillary didn’t get the nomination. Here we are with a better than average chance of repairing the damage from the last eight years, and these people are behaving like my three year old daughter, stamping their feet and pouting until they get their way.
Clinton was given almost everything she asked for yesterday – and certainly more than she deserved under the rules that Ickes himself helped layout – yet she’s still going to take this idiotic fight to the convention. The press will feed on it like sharks on chum, and the party will suffer in the process. We could very well lose the general election because Hillary can’t take “no” for an answer, and people like Harriet Christian will blindly rally behind her when she starts playing the sexist card.
Wake the fuck up. People like Ms. Christian aren’t Democrats, they’re cult members.
