BTW Danny-

The Republicans also stripped their Michigan delegation of half their votes because they violated the party rules and jumped to the front of the line. The Republicans also strip the votes away from those losing delegates in Primary States (they are Winner Take All). That means that in primaries where four candidates were running that three of them got no representation…and their voters were zilch.

So I’d suggest you find a party that actually does take each and every voter and proportionately divides the votes. But it won’t be the Greens or Libertarians either since they run caucuses. Maybe some small party in Europe that gets exactly 5% of the vote to qualify for parliament (Wait! That means their votes count more than the tiny parties that don’t reach the magic criteria).

The only way to assure your vote earns exactly what you do during an election is to not vote…in that case it’s worth zero.

“How short sighted of you all - after the voting scandals in Florida in 2000, especially! I cannot see any way around this - I used to wonder why people voted against their own best interest - i.e. why poor people would vote for Republican candidates, etc? I am starting to understand. It becomes clearer to me every day that the party elite and their groupies who control this party are out of touch with reality and are more concerned with their own position and status within the party than they are with doing the right thing or caring for their party members. Bye! Good riddance. You won’t get any support from me in the future - I’ve made that mistake for the last time. I will not reward your irresponsible behavior with support in any way, shape, or form - no matter who your candidate is”

Pretty much agree, however, that would assume that we are in a situation where a coup had not “already” effectively occurred in 2000….

Think about it.

Do you want to continue the “permanent campaign” (as referred to in Scott McClellan’s book)…let me translate…Rove’s “Permanent Republican Majority}….

Or do you want to free our country from the tyranny of the last 8 years.

You decide.

I’ll eat crow on a candidate, but I’ll sure as hell not allow another Republican torturing spying election stealing Administration in if I can help it.

So!!!

breaking radio silence for mohitos

one of my best friends has been drinking mohitos for years.

has made me quite a few out on her farmhouse porch.

the way she does it is-

grind a massive amount of mint leaves with sugar in a glass…….use an ice cube and a fork to do it if you don’t have a mortar…….or mortar and pestle them…lots of leaves and sugar….and load into a glass, layer with ice…….

ice ice ice……….rum……or vodca…….

tonic or club…….

gotta crush those leaves or it isn’t a mohito. it’s a cellular thing………pulverize them.

the key is having a good mint……orange mint is wonderful…..just planted some, just for her…..

sweet mint is good too, just planted some of that, too….

’they say’ use spearmint, but i think that isn’t as good.

here is a recipe–i advise using sugar, not a syrup, and using it to crush the leaves with a fork in a glass if you don’t have a mortar and pestle, that is how my friend does it…….and she doesn’t use lime juice, not necessary. and frankly, i think it tastes fresher, like a gin and tonic, clean, without the lime.

An easy mojito cocktail recipe to liven up your evening:

 1.5 oz BACARDI Rum
12 fresh spearmint leaves
1/2 lime
7 oz club soda
2 tbsp. simple syrup
(or 4 tsp. sugar)

For the smoothest majitos, gently crush mint leaves and lightly squeeze lime in a cool tall glass. Pour sweet syrup on top to cover and fill glass with ice. Add Bacardi Rum, club soda, and stir your emerging mojito well. Garnish with a lime wedge, a few sprigs of mint, toast, sip, and enjoy Bacardi mojitos with your friends.

For over a century, the Bacardi Mojito has channeled the spirit of the Caribbean. Use our original mojito cocktail recipe to bring a little of old Havana your mojito party or gathering.
