I have recently enjoyed re-visting the Medici era and the Catholic Church’s confrontation with modernity (as it was perceived in the 1500’s).

Other than the fact he kinda has a big gun, Donohue is much funnier than any get-off-my-lawn asshole I ever endured in 1950’s – 1960’s suburbia.

That said, the Colorado/West Coast Catholics I grew up with are more vehement than I about the sphincterific attributes of the Donohue’s Catholic League.

That said as well, progressives need to pay close attention to recent-immigrant Latino Catholics, because many are just a step away from seriously magic-oriented evangelical/revivalist stuff.
