David Sirota, who’ll be our guest on GRITtv later today (with Danny Glover — don’t miss it) wrote recently that the Democrats won’t stop the war. The anti-warriors self-perpetuate, but they don’t threaten. Dr. Dahlia Wasfi, whose testimony to Congress appeared on FDL this weekend, is an Iraqi-American who articulates just that level of raw anger and threat that the mainstream movements mostly lack. She talks here about what it’s like to be dehumanized and to dehumanize, and why she left the medical profession in order to devote all of her time to ending the occupation. When I sat down with Dahlia earlier this month I also asked her what it will take for divided people to re-humanize each other. It’s the big two-part question: where is the rage and then, what do we do with it? Wasfi’s interview is an interesting partner-piece to Kris Goldsmith’s interview "Stop Loss Killed Me" posted last night. We need rage, but we need it to "kill" this empire-policy, not each other.
