Eureka!
Good evening, LL!
Good job with the zed LL. I got hung up talking about bands at “the other place”.
Gnome ;-) Some great bands and artists mentioned in that thread for sure.
All this blogging is tiring me out. I am going to hit the hay here in a minute.
ES, this is a cool song — nice vibe for LLN :-)
ES still has a post-election mexican beach trip in mind it seems ;-)
Absolutely!
Can you digg it?
Anyone else here ever danced naked by them self outside?
mm, yes, she says very quietly.
In the rain.
In my younger days…
whispering…that’s very cool. For me it was a hot sultry summer night in my (very private) backyard.
yep (in my younger days in my very private backyard)
WInter spring summer and fall.. especially in the warm rain!
Funny. We’ve got a kind of short naked-dancing season up here on the northern prairies.
Trying to figure out McCain gangs angle on this flip flop
For McCain, A Switch On Telecom Immunity?
There is no way this could be sincere, imo.
Too shy to share, but smiling along with the stories *g*
Well, thanks ES for that inspiring tube. Who could have imagined I’d be hanging out here with so many free souls? I’m not alone!
Agreed. Insincere.
Must admit my winter dances could look like a sprint to the lurking observer. *s
In my early FDL days.. some gal (firedog) from Colorado and myself dared each other to get naked and run around our house one winter night.. In a TREX thread… and we both did it.
Eureka!
Remember RGJoe:
“Yeah, we’re going to look into Katrina and Rita.”
Eggggzactly.
I am wondering if camp McInsane is trying to put the squeeze on Bushco or Telcos for money or something else.
Wif no shoes either?
Which is one of the reasons I’ve laughed out loud in lurkerville over all these years. FDL is the best. For those of us who are shy……well, we have a whole set of friends who show us how fun life can be.
She later admitted she wore shoes. (only)
If he’s trying that, he better get in line behind a whole slew of Republicans (all fighting to keep their electoral skins) and Democrats.
Well dearie, it took me more than a few months of lurking to get the nerve to type in.. “I love this blog” with sweaty palms.. And now look at me!
REason I asked – I accidently locked myself out of my apartment – was in the basement doing laundry and the door to my suite was locked – so I had to walk around the building – outside, in a foot of snow, in bare feet. That was cold.
Since we have this naked bodies thingy going, could you kindly rephrase trying to put the squeeze on Bushco ?
‘Cause I just got a horrible image in my head.
Sorry…..ha, ha, ha.
He’s assuming a presumptuous bully pulpit.. IF. And it would most likely be Bush he’s trying to put the squeeze on.. since Bush is the one who wants amnesty more than telcos appear to.
OK, that was my last squeeze for the evening..)
I would think that McThusula is no less vulnerable that most pols (’cept Nancy of course) to the dollar-whims of TelCo. But it sounds like you’ve thought it through.
Considering you are in the super cold north and that dance was necessity, not voluntary.. Yikes!
Oh, let’s have one more.
Total BS.
But:
If things get bad enough, they might play at it for diversion/free face time. Or (gasp) an excuse to pull out tapes they just stumbled across – a la Spitzer.
Well there were a couple of votes (cloture, iirc) 41 including MCcain.. If he is not serious, it could really bite him in the pocket book and a few other places.
Thanks. But, what reason would McCain have to uh, er put pressure on Bush over this? And, I understand that our Prez has wanted more power than you could possibly imagine during his Reign, but, now that he’s headed out the door, why does he still care?
I ushered a show of theirs, roughly twenty years ago @ the Warfield in SF.. LL it was the least rhythmic crowd I have ever seen in my life.. 95 percent of the audience couldn’t tap in time along to this song.
Could be a lot of things, especially a tired old self absorbed George Jr. no longer interested in helping McCain raise money or keeping party nut cases in line.
ES, I only saw them once (late 80’s at American U. in Dee Cee) — it was an unfortunate crowd there too, all college kidz ;-) But I thought the band sounded great.
I didn’t know of them before hand.. and the Warfield was our special Jerry Garcia house.. we helped out the Warfield during shows like that in order to have full dance access for free during the great shows.
What a great gig!
LL it was the best… Place felt like an extension of my living room for many years. (even though it was closer to the office).
Suzanne – If you’re here, I know that you’re taking off for the Big Event and I hope you have a wonderful time and all best wishes for the bride and groom.
Did you all see the newsbox earlier? Blackwater is suing San Diego for 400 million.. in order to secure their base plans.
I need to find a retirement job like that, ES.
(thinking, thinking!)
ES – your mo horizons selection led me to seek out this bit of brasil electro from suba
hit and run for me. boa noite.
.
thank you demi
Suzanne, all good wishes to the happy couple (and to you as well!)
Thanks Muzzy, I thought about you when I dug up a chill tune tonight..)
thanks for your good wishes – i’ll convey them to the bride and groom. see ya nexttuesday
g’nite all
Those snappy staccatto bongo are very nice.
Just been thinking you and Kirk do a 60 states war protest. You are organisers right. Stop the war stop the pain and heal the world. The CVorps have deserted USA workers…what to lose. Peace please.
What a bunch of jerks.
I remember when I went with Loo Hoo to Daryl Issa’s office, she asked his Deputy Director what he thought of Blackwater wanting to build that big base and he,naturally, didn’t have a problem with it. Loo Hoo said she definitely did. Then he asked if she would also have a problem if say Goodwill or the Salvation Army (I’d have to look up my notes, but it was something like that), ’cause it was the same deal.
Oh, brother.
nite suzanne
safe trip, great time
Have a great fabulous wonderful time, Suzanne.. Try to keep the bride and groom from getting to nervous.. I didn’t marry until over thirty.. had no idea I was going to get that nervous!
Lots of experience.. ran for office, organized many things… but not like Kirk.. Somebody buy me a bus ticket and baloney money and I will give it a heck of progressive, fighting, highly entertaining run, from now to election day!
ES – yes. thanks. I’ll sleep better because of it.
Suzanne, have a marvelous time. Best wishes to all.
It’s really late here and I need to go, but I’ll leave y’all with one more song:
Townes Van Zandt — Buckskin Stallion
‘Night, and thanks Eureka!
Nite, LL.. rest well.
ES, you’re very kind. But I think the local plugging-away experience you have comes from the hard work.
Playing at the demos – chem weapons and all – is the easy work.
The bus tour sounds great…
If Dave Foreman and EF! could do it, so can we!
Holy shit: it really does sound good.
(I gotta find a foundation to cover my rent through November: does Soros read our blog? Or if not – his friends?)
ES – you’re coming to Sherman Oaks for The Uprising Book Club? Tell me about it. What authors? Is there a site I can get the info from?
I live 1/2 hour away from S.O.
Oh now Kirk.. don’t get me worked up, because I am serious… I would love to work out this campaign season on the right (very left) project.
Demi, I know nothing about Sherman Oaks Book club.. Do tell?
I read this:
Giovanni Eureka Springs AR and David Sirota are attending The Uprising Book Event – Sherman Oaks, CA.
It’s hosted by The Uprising – Book Club. So far 1,011 people have been invited.
RSVP
????
That must be a facebook error of some sort.. I joined his little new book group.
Must be. And, see, I was getting excited there.
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting several FDLrs already…
Rowed across the Morro Bay to the sand spit this sunset, The natives are in bloom…you know the ones that have been here forever. My pup and I hiked up the dunes to see the sun setting over the Pacific. It was pretty stoned the Rock just being there. the water and the wave and the breeze all good.
Lookin North and lookin south the same as the Chumash must have before paddling back with their fish and clams in the cool breeze goin home to the ladies and the kids. Ah the little things that make life worth while only thing is they did not have have a symphony in their ears like me, And their was a small group with an out of site bongo drummer girl on the pier sending us off.
Most of the day in the garden listening to the music then of to the hardware store for an O ring for the handpump that pumps out the grey water ftom the laundry..then it goes into the compost tea barrell saving much water for beneficial reuse…lovin my planet Mother Earth every day. Saw lot of friends at the hardware. After the row cooked my pup rise and chickhen with some liver. He enjoyin the night air. Sigh LIfe has it’s moments. Have yourselves a great day. Night all. Keep chippin away at their firewall.
Evening all. Can’t sleep.
Folks, I’m going to hit it.
Mah tea’s getting cold and my eyes are getting droopy.
nighty-night.
Like ships passing in the night.
sleep well demi
G’ nite BB and Fern.. Hello Betsy..)
G’nite BB. G’nite Fern. G’nite demi.
Good dreams.
Welcome Betsy!
Oh, you just get all of us naked dancing ladies mixed up huh? ‘Cause we all look alike?
Hi ES.
There’s naked dancing? I might be overdressed.
nite bigbrother
nite demi- you will be a youtube veteran in no time
Hello, Betsy. i’m leaving too. good night, all.
g’nite big brother and neuro – sleep well.
Thanks Newtonuser.
I’m wondering if I should send the movie to Kirk before I share it here. I might just do that.
Whataya say Kirk?
Whoops, I got the net boot.. My bad, on the mix up.
Nite Bigbrother, thanks for writing that.
I for one am keeping my duds on.
Oh – and Mr Soros.
George, there are great folks here at the Lake who are facing loss of their homes, and other great folks who need health insurance, and others who need help with food/utilites/transport.
If there’s a funding universe out there I hope it will first move to buy the homes of those who need to sell, and then move to help with health insurance/housing/food/utilities/transport.
If there’s any left over to send me on the FDL bus tour after meeting those needs (and sending LS!) then great.
But if not: I’d wanna see the most basic needs met first.
If FDl has a bus, I’d love to be there – but a whole lotta needs oughta come before propping up my rent for that task.
Apologies if my light-hearted talk seemed to skate over this.
(but I’d still want to go in all the ways LS discussed!)
Namaste.
Oh, if I was gong to kick, I’d use the stilettos….just kidding.
Texbetsy, keep these boys in line, will ya?
Really, really, good nite.
demit, share first!
with my glitch-prone life, Iwouldn’t be able to open the video for a week or two anyway…..
damn straight, kirk
LS, the firedog?
nite demi..
demi, not demit. I can’t type or open….
shite – I can neither type nor proofreade.
ES, not LS.
I’m just gald I didn’t go into sturgery
(as are the potential victims)
have your webcam hooked up?
I’m gald, tu!
/s
He he.. Well we need activists funded as much as the rest..truth be told. I have wondered how much the faltering economy will effect folks participation this year compared to ‘06. Such as, is Blue America doing better year to date than ‘06?
My MacBook is on loan to a client. You need help with yours?
ndfg here, i’m not a sock puppet! %@#& wordpress/pcs have screwed up my log-jn :-( and Lake has not got back to my email with a fix.
just an update to last nite, PoppaSpook is resting comfortably at hospital, seems to be no major problems other than age-related issues. We’ll keep you posted, thanks for thoughts and well wishes!
btw, Kirk, great post earlier today.
g’nite Pups, thanks for helping me keep my sanity.
Nope. Just checking about the duds!
ndfg!
Glad for the update.
Best to Al and Dad, too.
The duds are nothing to shout about.
But they do keep pretty girls from shrieking.
sleep well NDFG & Spook
hugs ndgf!

Welcome, Al – I am glad to see you here again, and very glad PoppaSpook is comfortable and OK.
Glad you liked the post -
but most important, hope we see you here often.
And congratulations!
Hey!
I used to sleep in a tuxedo.
no longer? what happened?
You are seriously overdressed.
Couldn’t get any rest. Damned penguins kept climbing into my bed.
fish-breath – yuck
And who said anything about sleep? Perhaps I have a hot date. Or perhaps I am in an old t-shirt. How would you know?
Betsy – contending chain-yanker
Well, I’m back.
forking insomnia.
Yikes, just kidding!
I am overtired. And lacking in brain. And I get very silly when I am tired.
Hi Fern. Join the club.
The coyotes are so close to the house tonight my cat came inside.. which he never does this time of year..
Going to turn in myself..
Good night fabulous firedogs
Worried about a meeting tomorrow.
Stoopit client changed his mind about what he wanted and neglected to let me know. Which is of course my fault.
Cantankerous old fart who on top of everything appears to be suffering from deteriorating brain function.
night ES.
Not that I’m complaining or anything. ;)
Sleep well, ES!
nite eureka
sounds challenging
I think I will take another stab at the sleep thing.
nite betsy
Nite, texbetsy
g’nite penguin suit
and fern
Agreed! But it is an opportunity. For the sake of argument, let’s take Senator McCain at his word. Let’s give full and complete credence to his statements, and let’s celebrate them. Memorialize them. Let’s emblazon them in stone and in bronze. This is what our senator and presidential candidate said and “God bless him.” What a grand fellow!
Let hoist him on his own petard (i.e., fart).
He doesn’t remember what he has said from one minute to the next, does he?
Kirk – if you’re still here…
I saw a piece of tape of McThusula today, stuttering and bobbling a question from PunkinHead about some contradiction in prior statements.
Tell us what it does to the human psyche to have to think on your feet when all you have to choose from is a pack of lies, or another pack of lies.
Now I know you’re not a shrink… oh, wait!
just caught some of the bean soup on larry king. They can’t throw enough blame on the left for scotties’dementia
PLUS you can’t remember what pack of lies it was that you used most recently.
Scotty is our fault?
We’re going to give the guy whiplash, flipping from one denial to the next.
Or maybe he’ll consult with his chief campaign operative (also known as the campaigns official liar), RGJoe.
I’m in!
Hey, even Scotty said the “Liberal Media” didn’t press hard enough. Of course it’s us.
What’s on my mind tonight? The Andromeda Strain. The movie version was shown on cable TV recently in two installments. I didn’t see the whole thing, so what I write here is some impressions.
What interested me was the plotting going on in the office of the President. First there was the “secret program” that was so secret that the President was not briefed about it. The intrigue was reminiscent of some of the things that must be going on in the current White House, including cabals that tried to manipulate the president into taking actions that favored their understanding of the situation. In the Andromeda Strain, the President apparently acted with integrity and restraint. Unlike some other presidents we know.
Anyway, it was interesting.
Bob in HI
mostly that he went off the deep end trying to appease the left and that their not going to be there for him after the’ve taken what’s left of his soul.Ari’s up there in a full blown denial mode about scotties propaganda claims. What crap!!
I watch the original about once a year. I kinda like that it doesn’t hold up in many ways – it was terrifying and excellent in it’s time.
Right! This is an alzheimerz patient, just like Reagan. He is a babbling old fool who can’t keep things straight from one day to the next. He is totally delusional in his belief that he is qualified to be president and/or drive a car.
Put this fucker out to pasture with his overly well-heeled wife.
my point is the msm is trying to make something out of nothing.Everybody was there, left right white black brown yellow. Everybody knows what a pack of lies they shoved down our throats and now they want to try to “explain” themselves. The magnitude of what’s happened is staggering and they want to portray it as an issue about scottie. Its not about Scottie it’s about what they’ve done to this country and exposing these bastards.
I’ve gotta say, I’ve totally run out of patience with Hillary and McCain. Obama isn’t far behind them, but far enough that I’m praying for his victory. Should Clinton win th e nomination, my official position is that she needs to convince me, but between you and me, it’s all about the Supreme Court and who gets to pick, and there’s no doubt Hilllary would pick better.
Please explain. I couldn’t agree less.
History shows that if they sell it hard enough, for long enough, the next outrage may eclipse the last one, and so on.
We are represented by some of their conspirators, who are not interested in prosecuting these things, lest they get caught up in them as well.
I’m talking about you, Nancy.
This is the real context in which this election should be viewed, IMO. And I do keep having to remind myself.
It’s a tough decision for sure. The only way I can think about it is which candidate could hold up against the onslaught from the corps. With the “seamless integration”,as EW puts it,of corps and gov it’s goin to be a huge job.Whether it be Clinton or Obama there has to be a concerted effort from the people to keep them all in check
I’ll say it yet again, but you’ve all heard it before, Nancy should be tried under the Yamashita standard of the doctrine of “command responsibility.” Yanashita was executed for failure to exercise his responsibility to stop war crimes. Nancy has prevented John Conyers’s House Judiciary Committee from opening an impeachment inquiry (and Conyers is equally guilty for acquising to her threats).
An impeachment inquiry by the House is the only constitutional mechanism for stopping presidential crimes, in this case torture, which Bush has admittedly authorized.
Those in a position of responsibility are obliged to act to prevent them. Nancy Pelosi has acted to prevent their prohibition. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. She is gulity of a crime for which General Yamashita paid the ultimate price. Think about it!
As unlikely as it is, I appreciate what needs to happen.
My position is that, if General Yamashita was guilty of failure to exercise “commant reponsibility”, Nancy is even more guilty. Her’s was an act of commission. She took impreachment, the only constitutional remedy to presidential misbehavior, off the table. IMHO, she’s very guilty and deserves to be tried.
That said, however, she does a lot of good and correct things, e.g.: http://www.dailykos.com/story/…..185/524597
Dood. Sigh! It’s not a prediction, but a … thing that would happen in a totally ethical world. Aw, shit! Not really. Nancy shouldn’t be executed like Yamashita. But she needs to understand the ethically slippery slope she is on. Taking impeachment off the table isn’t politics as usual. It is the only remedy this nation has to rogue presidency, and the founders said so.
Nancy is blocking the only remedy this national has to presidential criminality! We have a president who is a self-proclaimed on-going war criminal, and Nancy Pelosi has taken it upon herself to take this nation’s only constitutional remedy off the table, and to threaten the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee with the loss of his chairmanship were he to open an impeachment inquiry. She is indeed guilty, guilty, guilty! But I don’t want her shot. I simply want someone, perhaps her daughter who claims to be troubled by the awful things said about her mother on the Internet, to get the picture through to Nancy about what a tragic and horrible thing she has done.
I wonder if it’s possible to clean out all the corruption anymore. These people are all bought and sold. With the privatization of everything do you realise how difficult it’s going to be to keep track?
Think about “Spies for hire”.Private corporate entities, outside the perview of congress, freely making deals with other nations that directly affect our security.I’m almost totally convinced that the brits and bushco, because of the arms deals with the saudis had an influence on 911.Bandar made contributions to the san diego highjackers through the riggs bank. There’s alot more to all this than we know.
Yes. Yes.
Nancy isn’t trying to protect ChimpCo – she has real skin in the game. What self-respecting pol wouldn’t love to bring the case she has against her political enemy?
Along with all the fuckery of 43, she is pretty well fucked for life if anyone gets a really good look at what she allowed to be done with her tacit approval.
I’m not looking to have her executed, but we won’t even get her removed from office without that exposure. And she won’t fuck herself.
IMHO, I could clean it out in 12 monthw. Barack isn’t a fool, but I don’t know if he has the heart for it. I’m convinced that Hillary doesn’t.
I can’t remeber the name, but once upon a time Hong Kong got a new governor, who cleaned up the corruption in very short order. He was an englishman, but all of my Chinese friends have great respect for him.
I would welcome such a reformer, and I’m also convinced that Hillary is not that path, and that Obama is a better prospect.
Hitting the wall about now.
nite wigwam
nite pups. take care of the joint.
We have to congratulate ourselves that what we are doing is going to leave a mark: http://www.washingtonpost.com/…..inionsbox1
G’nite, newt, my man! It’s a long, hard struggle. But damn this is the only planet we have so far.
Great summary at WaPo. Thanks for that.
nite, really
Oh yea, Blackwater will probably show up to stir up as much shit as possible.I have a bad feeling about this election.
Something major will happen, fraud, riots something.Maybe bush will manufacture something and impose martial law .
I share your misgivings. But, what can we do? I’ll simply support Obama as the best of the current alternatives, and hope for the best. Ultimately, with contributions to key congressional candidates.
But all of us can contribute to a “climate of opinion.” That, IMHO, is the key. You don’t have to throw boulders, like Jane and Glenzilla. You don’t have to throw stones, like some others. Be content to throw pebbles. They all have an effect in creating a “climate of opinion.”
I, for my part, have a very small mailing list. The good stuff I find (about two articles per day), I pass along. They show their friends, or at least when their friends bring up right-wing bullshit, they are armed. That’s my humble contribution to the “climate of opinion.”
