So, Laura!
I sure hope electing a Constitutional Law professor will be the first good sign! I think I’ve heard Obama talk about some of these first day to-do list things!
New Presidents don’t like to give up power back to Congress I agree but the power to Torture I don’t think the President or Congress has unless they want to be war criminals.
jus cogens!
something to chew on while watching . . .
a brief excerpt from ((((Mary)))) in EW’s working thread -
Fox News will be against these ideas until they figure out that we can use these measures on them now how many financial companies stole billions of dollars in war contracts in the Iraq war?
Should torture be used on Pentagon military experts and GOP talking heads who lied on TV about how great the war was going.
jus cogens!
This is a yummy discussion for this Rule of Law fan!
We need to remember and remind those who have forgotten that we are a nation of laws, not a nation of one dood with a jesus complex.
The MSM always starts from the Conservative viewpoint as the standard then maybe they have one liberal to object. Forget balance the Conservatives are wrong jus cogens!
What is next if the
PresidentVice President decides to shoot someone in the face there will be no murder investigation? I’m sure Dick’s friend apologizing for Dick shooting him was in no way motivated by Darth torturing people. (Has there ever been a more obvious case of witness intimidation?)Any one else a prosecution would have gone ahead. Especially if the person had a reputation of intimidating witnesses or approving of torture.
Just in case anyone is wondering, on Obama’s website is a speech wherein he talks about all three of the first day to-do list subjects: Remarks of Senator Barack Obama on the Military Commission Legislation
Thursday, September 28, 2006.
I made an attempt to do a link, but I don’t seem to be able to link outside of FDL now for quite some time; I don’t have any idea why.
Kudos to FDL for partnering with Laura Flanders and GRITtv!!
