I saw him earlier this year speaking at the Winter Soldier forum convened by Iraq Veterans Against the War. Last week we spoke about his experiences in Iraq and the consequences of stop-loss back home.
GRITtv Interview: Stop-Loss Killed MeBy: Laura Flanders Tuesday May 27, 2008 5:04 pm |
Iraq war veteran Kris Goldsmith had the grim job of working as a photo-documentarian for US military intelligence on the ground in Iraq. His main task was to catalogue individual close-up images of the fallen in Iraq for further identification. So, Laura, fancy meeting you here, again!
Gripping and sickening, and essential viewing.
Thank you Laura.
my connections crummy so I have to let it play through without the volume so I can watch a smooth transmission the second time.
Wonder what it’s like to watch on television, isn’t GRITtv on TV?
What newtonusr said.
It’s on FSTV after Democracy Now in the morning.
this is what I just don’t get about the shrubocracy. The most basic principle of militarism and militaristic states is, be nice to the military, make even foot soldiers feel like members of a pampered elite… ’cause you need ‘em to do your repressin’ and conquerin’ for you. I guess its because we’re not ruled by true authoritarians.. just take-the-money and run thieves. I mean I’m not expressing a preference for military authoritarians over kleptocrats or anything.. I’m just sayin’
Wow. But as the VA Secretary reminded us a few days ago,
far too many of our returning troops are being diagnosed
with PTSD. One casual labelling like that by some
liberal psychiatrist can ruin your whole life.
Eli is upstairs!
I’m suffering from ITSD — Incessant, Traumatic Shame Disorder — from witnessing the actions of this group. Everytime I think that their behavior can’t be more repugnant, they surprise me. I wonder what it’s like to live without shame, like they do.
What does shrub suffer from? That would be Incorrigible Cowardly Shameful Dirtbag syndrome.
