I’ve got to run to soundcheck, I have shows in Long Beach and San Diego this weekend and my boots still need duct taping. Have fun in “comments”, play nice.

Happy Friday everyone :)
Hey YJ! Whats happening firepups? Donita can’t join us today, she has a show in Long Beach tonight and has to get all extra rocknroll for it! I made sure her amp has the knobs that go to 11 on it.
Hello everyone, how are you all?
I must say again the playlist is suitable to widen my musical horizo – a nice relief to local radio stations and their repetitive playlists.
I love Steppenwolf…
Hi Jess!
Hello Fini :)
Love Blue Velvet; Stuck in the Middle; Girl, You’ll Be a Woman Soon; and anything by Leonard Cohen!
Thank you, Donita, and break a leg in my old stomping grounds!
;)
Hey Margot :)
Hello everyone :>
You Love Me, what a beautiful tune.
Thanks fini and Donita for the playlist.
I love the playlist she did this week. Hey, lets play Match the Movie! No googling, see who can guess what movie these songs are attached to?
Girl is from Pulp Fiction ;>
Welcome to the Dollhouse theme is from Baby’s Day Out
oh, you mean they are all from one Movie, fini???
Wangdang, if you are here, I left you a message on the last thread.
Well, the last two are easy enough with the last one being (D’oh!) Valley of the Dolls. And the Steppenwolf song is from Easy Rider.
And I’ll quit while I’m ahead.
No not at all, they are different movies!
Ah! I didn’t even see those tunes – LOVE the Valley of the Dolls theme….Dionne Warwick as silly the route she’s gone did some awesome songs back in the day…
Waiting For The Miracle is from Natural Born Killers
duh factor for Blue Velvet too :>
Hey, everybody, check this out, from the OC Weekly:
Ex-L7 Riot Grrrl Donita Sparks Mellows Slightly With Stellar Moments
w00t Donitaday!
So I was in my local record shop the other day rifling through the discs and came across Transmiticate. Well hell, I sez to myself, she’s coming to FDL and posting, I owe it to her to listen. So I bought it.
All I can say is … wow.
This is Donita’s best work ever. I loved L7, but this is a different level. It’s one of those rare discs that seems not to have even a mediocre song on it, let alone a bad one. Donita obviously put a lot of hard work into this, and it shows.
Thanks, Donita. I hope you get the recognition you deserve for this.
That is really cool David, I will make sure Donita sees this, I know she will really appreciate the kindness!
As an aside, I am curious which song grabbed your head and shook you for your attention?
And now for the first Youtube post of the night…..

(((DONITA))))
Much love your way. So nice to see ya again!!!!
Since Donita is not here, let’s discuss some not so nice stuff that can happen on live concerts.

I think Mr. Rose acted appropiately.
Wow, nice speech Axl did
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtZsSkWO9nc Shirley Manson really gets mad here
Nice video, YoungJess. :-)
She kinda overdid it in this one, but she sure showed that guy who’s boss!!
That Shirley Manson tirade was awesome! I love her even more now!
So what kind of plans do you all have for this weekend? Its Indy 500 time in Indy, so we have a huge citywide barbecue on Sunday for the race at the Speedway. Anyone got plans to ignite the flame pit to char mammal flesh this weekend?
Hard to say — I mean, “Fly Feather Fly” grabs you right from the start, and the album never really lets up. But I think “Curtains For Cathy” is a classic.
@YoungJess: Actually I mean the music video from the Swedish band.
I hope Ms. Manson had the right guy removed. You know it seemed a little to me as if she wasn’t sure who spit, but needed to remove someone to make a point.
… It’s so slow today, must be Donita’s absence.
Tough Friday
My weekend plans are most likely same as always…..stay home, sleep, go on the internet, play guitar, maybe go to a friend’s place, play video games, and watch TV, nothing exciting really
Ohhhh hahaha woops, yeah they are a great band :)
Since I found work, I basically just relax on the weekends. …I miss those lazy college student days.
I love “Head Check” the most I think. Something about that tune grabs me. I love the whole disc though!
Hi Donita.. late again, but I wanted to say I loved your OC Weekly article!
Its a great article they did, I already dugg it! Would you do the same too?
so does anyone have any great grilling recipes for me to try this weekend?
Thanks fini.. Dugg with a comment.. Sorry, all my grilling occurs without specific recipes.. I do make a great BBQ sauce from scratch.. but it takes all day.
I miss BBQ sauce…too much sugar for this diabetic. I did find a decent recipe using Splenda for one.
Few more songs

Don’t know if you’re still around fini but here’s a little something I saw in an ad a couple of years ago.
I’ve used this with London broil, NY strips, Eye of round roast at least.
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, 1 tablespoon chili powder, 1 teaspoon cumin, and 1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper. Mixed together then rub on steaks or roast or whatever as a marinade and let sit then grill.
Mmmmmm sounds yummy! I may try that out this weekend on some steaks. I have a great potatoes and cabbage recipe on the grill I can’t wait to make!
Well folks I gotta run but keep an eye on Donita’s MySpace and website next week for some tour news!
Bye Fini!
I’m out too, have a great weekend!!
i haven’t been around here in a long time but i loved your picks.
thought you might wanna hear this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoqThhEAzN0
which is kinda in tune with what you posted.
it always makes me smile…
and by kinda in tune with what you posted i meant all girl bands…i’ve been listening to this song on the band’s my space page for a few weeks but just watched the video…um yeah, graphic robot sex….didn’t mean that.
seriously…
Blue Velvet by Bobby Vinton is the most perfect form of schlock ever recorded and must be loved and appreciated as art on that basis and comes in at #2 on the WABC Musicradio playlist for October 1st, 1963.
But the real gem on that playlist is down at magic number 7 where we find the original version of Cry Baby by Garnet Mims and the Enchanters. You might as well be in church.
Couldn’t find #5, Sally Go Round the Roses by the Jaynettes, but that is mystical experience of timeless time in itself.
