While Hagee has long prophesized about the end times, he ratcheted up his rhetoric this year with the publication of his book, “Jerusalem Countdown,” in which he argues that a confrontation with Iran is a necessary precondition for Armageddon and the Second Coming of Christ. In the best-selling book, Hagee insists that the United States must join Israel in a preemptive military strike against Iran to fulfill God’s plan for both Israel and the West.

Wow. I knew there was something to Hagee’s interest in Israel…and the uneasy feeling I got when seeing his followers so excited about this was spot on (father watches him every day–ugh).

This area is a blind spot for me – so difficult to accept that significant numbers of people have bought in. Intellectually I do know it’s true and I need to be better informed.

In the video, an agitated Reverend Ron Parsley calls Islam “the greatest religious enemy of our civilization and the world,” and claims that the historic mission of America is to see “this false religion destroyed.” And John McCain calls Parsley “one of the truly great leaders in America, a moral compass, a spiritual guide.” It’s undeniable: McCain praises a man who literally urges a war against Islam.
