Democrat is a noun…whereas Democratic is an adjective. A person can be a registered Democrat, or they can belong to the Democratic Party or run in the Democratic Primary. The confusion partially arises when one speaks of Republicans in which the noun and adjective are the same – one is a Republican or can belong to the Republican party.

One would not say “I am a Democratic”, nor “he is a Republic”. It gets a little confusing when one is using these terms as “headers” for things like results. If one is referring to numbers of voters that turned out the heading should probably be Democrats [voting] vs. Republicans [voting] …or Democratic [turnout] vs. Republican [turnout].

On May 20 1983, in a paper published in the US journal Science, a team from France’s Pasteur Institute, led by Luc Montagnier, described a suspect virus found in a patient who had died of AIDS.

Montagnier’s groundbreaking work led to the determination by US researcher Robert Gallo that the virus was indeed the cause of acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS).

It was so fucking beautiful in Denali. So many animals. So few tourists. I bumped into my friend Dennis Zaki on the way back thru Denali, headed back south. He’s starting to put up some of the pictures he got at his place, Alaska Report.

The White House released a statement disputing a report in The Jerusalem Post that a senior administration official had told Israelis during the president’s visit last week that Mr. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney supported military action against Iran.

The Post later removed its article from its Web site and replaced it with one featuring the White House denial. By then, the report had already stirred considerable discussion online.

“An article in today’s Jerusalem Post about the President’s position on Iran that quotes unnamed sources — quoting unnamed sources — is not worth the paper it’s written on,” the White House press secretary, Dana M. Perino, said in a statement.

I think that Barak Obama’s remaining opponent in the primaries is stayin’ in because her bankers, the corporate bosses, are tellin ‘er ta stay in. Nothing eleser makes any sense, she and Mr. Bill are a lotta things but stupid about public perception and their image is not one of ‘em. She who should forever remain nameless woulda tossed it in a long time ago and brought the full weight of her support and her contacts behind the Democratic nominee and the party thus sewin’ up a leadership spot in the Senate and in the kitchen cabinet. Seems they’ve stopped counting in Oregon with about 15% left…with about 20% in counties that were going heavily (>60%) for Obama. I suspect that things will be about 60%-40% in Oregon when all is said and done. That’s clearly a big win after polls were suggesting the gap narrowing to within ten or less (although Survey USA and PPP were not far off).

The Oregonian predicted that Obama would win a larger delegate distribution (30-12) so that at the end of the two primaries Hillary would have 49 delegates to Obama’s 44. She’ll have gained on him all of 5 delegates. Which just about kept her at the same point she was at since Obama gained 7 Super delagates today and yesterday to one for Clinton.
