Best wishes for Ted Kennedy:
Sen. Edward Kennedy was rushed to a hospital in Massachusetts Saturday morning, a well-informed, prominent Democratic source in that state told CNN.
Kennedy was transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after spending less than an hour in the Cape Cod Hospital emergency room, a spokesman for the Cape Cod facility told CNN.
David Reilly said Kennedy was admitted to the Cape Cod emergency room around 9 a.m. ET. Massachusetts General said it had no information on Kennedy.
The source said the 76-year-old senator had "symptoms of a stroke" at the Kennedy family compound in Hyannis.

Thanks for this, Jane.
Thank you, Jane. I got a chill down my spine when I saw the headline. Hang in there, Ted.
Seconded.
Best wishes for Senator Kennedy.
*lights candle*
Get well soon, Senator!!
Not a peep from “W”…
Obama statement that he’s going to call Ted’s wife and find out what’s going on….leadership.
Prayers for the Kennedy family and for all of us. We don’t want to loose him ever, but especially not now!
CNN reporting Teddy called a family member at about 10:30 A.M. to tell them he couldn’t make a lunch this afternoon. Could be encouraging.
Thanks for this, LS.
I can’t wait until we have a real president again.
*sigh* Sending love, peace and light to the senator
Glad that he is contacting the family
man, I love to hear him when he gets angry
get well ted
He sure was wound up on the Senate floor earlier this week, down to his last nerve with Miss McConnell’s foolish tactics. Best wishes for a swift full recovery, Senator Kennedy. We need you now! The Republic needs you now!
Is that picture from 1976? Ted hasn’t looked that dapper in years.

Cape Cod News online. Could be a good source of info w/out all the talking head hype. Pix of his being airlifted. Clearly alive, getting oxygen.
Teddy is a lion. I can’t imagine the Senate or MA without him.
At the same time I am SO grateful that there’s a dem governor in MA. Finally after 16 years of thugs in the state house.
fyi - I remembered Senator Kennedy had surgery last fall for blocked artery
CNN 10/07 link
carotid artery in the neck.
((((Quakergirl))))
CNN: Per Kennedy family, he felt ill, and after consulting with his doctors, was taken to Mass Gen, where he is under “evaluation”. Awaiting Hospital rep to come out and give update.
Dammit Kennedy, we have work to do!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
My dad has a framed picture with him and Teddy in his office that Ted wrote on for him.
He used to call Teddy and have him strong arm some of the other Senators on labor issues my dad was trying to get pushed through back in the eighties.
Teddy always has had the workers interests at the center of his priorities. For a guy who was given everything in life he always worked for those who didn’t. He’s had lots and lots of enemies throughout his life but not from among the working people.
FWIW, His tribute to his brother Robert delivered 8 June 1968 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York.
I can’t watch that. It brings tears. But thanks for the link.
Encouraging news -hopefully accurate- that Senator Kennedy made that phone call bowing out of lunch.
Wishing the Senator a speedy recovery. We need his heart and voice in this process of taking our country back.
am with ya Rev.
Mr Cbl can recite by heart
And I recall how he looked when John-John died….leading that family through another episode of unspeakable grief. I remember thinking how he had somehow brought himself back from the Palm Beach, drinking stuff and was there to lead his family, Caroline, to get through one more disaster.
Best wishes Senator Kennedy. You have been, and will continue to be, a stalwart defender of freedom. Make a speedy recovery. We’ve still got a lot of butt to kick.
(((Teddy)))
Several parts of me died when your brothers John and Robert were killed.
I will pray for you and your family.
Godspeed, to A True Patriot.
And no one really wants to hear from W mumble a bunch of words he can’t say and doesn’t mean. Kennedy felt really betrayed by Mr. Stupid
Hmmmm….Kerry is at the hospital.
John McCain - AP
My best wishes to Teddy and the whole Kennedy family.
Ted Kennedy has served the country as senator for MORE than 40 years! Wow. God bless him.
Same here.
This will serve to remind the GOPs how much they hate McCain for his alliance with EMK on immigration.
yes Teddy - and I’m sure “my good friend” from Arizona doesn’t like the possibility of this reminding folks about the fragility of our older senators either - but then again, I’m god’s own cynic :D
ah yes, there is that.
Chimperor so screwed Teddy on NCLB. That was the beginning of the end of any kind of cooperation that was going to happen across the aisle with those weasels.
If Kennedy could make that sort of phone call, then this is really good news. It’s possible, then that he had a TIA(my father had several of those and his symptoms ranged from part of his face going numb to one of his hands going numb). That is not to say he’s out of the woods or that he doesn’t need treatment and monitoring.
word leaking out . . . “guardedly optimistic”
Yes, please.
My Dad had a couple of TIAs too. Nothing ever came out of it..He lived another 20 years. It is also possible that he had some kind of neuropathy.
A time to remember that great dynasties vary a lot — and wealthy politicians vary a lot too. The Kennedy family for all their problems has spent its time, its money and its blood trying to make the world a better place. Compare that to the Bush dynasty whose only motivation has been to sell influence and line the pockets of themselves and their cronies.
Hope the Senator is able to return to keep fighting the good fight.
AP reporting that he suffered a “seizure” this morning.
the contrast could not be more telling of their character and morals.
GHWB used to say, whenever the Kennedy sons came up in conversation, “Well, just wait until you see what my boys do!”
How’d that work out for you, old man?
Per Kennedy family statement…he suffered a seizure this morning and is undergoing tests to determine cause…they will know more in 48 hours.
Boston Globe saying two seizures. One at home, one while being transported
by helo.
http://www.boston.com/news/loc.....y_sai.html
where did everyone go?
It’s just us chickens…don’t know. Latest Ted news sounding pretty good.
If people are like me, they’re going around the web to see if there is more news, or flipping to channels to see what’s the latest! Two seizures in a short time doesn’t sound great, but it’s good that he was able to beg off that luncheon personally with a phone call. Sure hope he gets well soon. The old lion of the senate can’t do without him!
seizure is kind of an all purpose word — it is used for fainting, heart attacks etc — doesn’t really suggest much information about what is actually going on
Blue America is upstairs with guest Martin Heinrich (NM 01) Please come up and join us in welcoming him.
Or stay down here and keep talking if you like.
Hey guys a lot of us stayed on the gardening thread. More info on stroke risks etc there.
also this just in:
Protests at Boalt Hall graduation.
You bring up an interesting point. Makes me wonder if (among other things) it has something to do with being so far removed from the original successful primogenitor? Either there never was a social conscience or it’s bred out while idling over too many country club martinis?
I suppose there are those whose own failings drive them to making atonement through service? In the case of the Kennedy family, you’d have to factor in the religious training as well. I admire Ted Kennedy as an authentic man who chose to fight for those who need his voice. He could have stepped into the shadows. Instead he has stayed front and center, enduring the constant slings and arrows of his enemies - for we, the people.
(((((Senator Ted Kennedy)))))
you have given us so much!
we wish you good health and happiness.
God bless you, Senator Kennedy. I’m praying for your complete recovery. I’m proud that you are my senator and i am grateful for your brilliant service. Please do get well soon, take care of yourself, and let us help you turn the ship of state around. (Bedford, MA)
Best wishes to a great Senator.
GHWB used to say, whenever the Kennedy sons came up in conversation, “Well, just wait until you see what my boys do!”
They’ve done quite well.
11 p.m. news said he was doing ok and resting comfortably. It was not
a stroke and may have been something to do with the carotid artery surgery
he had earlier this year. He had company all day and the family finally
called all the out of town relatives and told them he was not in any danger
and that they did not have to come to Boston. That must have relieved many
of their worries.
MGH has a great neurology department and I am sure the head of the Dept. is
looking after Ted. The doctors will have something to say on Monday I am sure. Keep the prayers and good wishes going until then…but I feel he
will come out of this scare with no ill effects.
Blessings and best wishes for a swift and painless recovery to Senator Kennedy.
Many hugs and thanks to you, Sir.
