Jeez – how sick are these people? I’ve been very concerned that some one will take a shot at Sen Obama and security, from reports, has been pretty slack at his events. We do not need The Huckster giving some whacko the sense that God is commanding it.

I came into Bloomington Indiana on April 30. The airport shuttle dropped me at the Hampton Inn, and as it happened the shuttle driver unloaded an extra bag by mistake which I took in to the desk clerk. Now on April 30 Barack was speaking in Bloomington, and the desk clerk joked that it was good that I brought the bag in before one of the 75 Secret Service agents staying there saw it, as it would have held up getting the bag returned to its rightful owner.

My point is that Barack does have a pretty massive security detail at this point.

This is the kind of fucking bullshit we really need to strike back against. These smirking assholes got away with the bandaids mocking Kerry at their pig lovefest and it made dems look weak to just take it. No more.

All week the MSM has been saying Obama will be the nominee…”unless something catastrophic happens”..when referring to Obama. It has to be a “talker”. How despicable!!!

Actually, I have to say that I figured the incident with Huckabee was just what you find with nearly all of these politicians who like to indulge the “manly sports” — they don’t know their asses from their hands. I used to see this all the time in Idaho — guys who only ever donned hunting vests for the photo ops (because they were nearly always lawyers).

In other words, Huckabee did not out of maliciousness but because he is a dumbass who doesn’t know the first rules of gun safety. Believe me, keeping the gun pointed in the opposite direction of any fellow humans is about Rule No. 1. (Cheney failed that one too.) In other words, he obviously never even took (or flunked) your basic NRA Gun Safety Class.

I don’t hunt but grew up around hunters and have a lot of friends and family who do hunt.

New York State has a two tier deer hunting season with rifle in the Northern Tier (basically north of the NY Thruway) and shotgun in southern tier. One of my co-workers refused to go hunting during the Southern Tier season. He called it the Amateur Hour because it was mainly all the great hunters out of the city who had no clue what they were doing.

Beg to differ. Guns may not be the issue; but people with guns are an issue. People and guns make a bad combination. I would not own a gun if one were given to me absolutely free. Guns in the hands of civilians is a symbol of lawlessness and inept or inadequate government. The Hatfields and McCoys shot at each other because law enforcement in their corner of Appalachia was virtually non-existent. When the Lumber companies and Coal companies started moving into that area, they demanded better security and got it. No more feud.

I wonder how many gun owners belong to a well regulated militia. I wonder too why in a case like this where the original intent is blazingly clear conservative Supreme Court justices and proponents of “original intent” manage to overlook it here.

By and large I agree, but States and City’s have long had the right to regulate guns within their boundaries. This has been done since the time of the Original Constitution precisely because it feared organized armed groups in insurrection. Read the sections of the Constitution about the regulation of militias and who does it. It’s not the general public, or a group like the Patriots or the NRA…it’s Congress and the State legislatures. These provisions…including the part in the @nd Amendment about “well-regulated militias” were included precisely because conflicts like the Shay’s and Whiskey Rebellions involved armed men who had to be put down by the militias OF OTHER STATES.

Jefferson’s famous comments about these insurrections have always been misconstrued…he viewed the “tyrants” the ones that had illegally taken over the legislature and courts (Shays and others)…occasionally the “patriots” had to spill a little blood to nurture the new union. In any case, Jefferson was in Paris when all this was occurring. George Washington sent up General Lincoln to handle the mess.

Militia movement types always get Jefferson’s meaning completely reversed.
