Loved the video, Suzanne. I was kinda lookin’ for Katymine or AZMatt or some of the other AZ folks, but since they’re not here, I guess it falls to me to update y’all on what’s going on with Sheriff Joe. Seems his people stopped the Mayor of Guadalupe for a broken tail light (and driving while Hispanic, and some other minor infractions) the other day. It’s been an escalating point of contention how the Sheriff has decided to use his deputies, and how the deputies are the equivalent of terrorists in the Hispanic communities. He’s doing this at the expense of enforcing all the other laws. Anyway, the upshot is that apparently the Mayor was a bridge too far for the Governor, so she cut off approx. $1M of his funds, and by Executive Order, she’s formed a task force with that money in order to pursue about 40K of outstanding warrants for actual crimes. Should be an interesting next few days, as the Sheriff is already being very vocal with his objections. I’m sure this whole thing will do the news industry a lot of good!

Apparently 3 times more voters participated in the WV Democratic Primary that the Republican version today. That was even with a very small number of under-30 voters coming out. Once again McCain received only about 75% of the Republican votes, with a significant 25% going to dissidents, and a heck of a lot more voting in the Democratic race.

Someone mentioned that about 25% of Hillary’s supporters will vote for McCain. But if even half of her support actually votes for Obama (and the rest sitting it out) then he will win handily.

Sheriff of Maricopa County has taken it upon himself to cooperate with ICE to do their job of enforcement of border controls and immigration infringements instead of doing the normal stuff that Sheriffs are supposed to do. We had some discussions here a few days ago about this subject, but this just came out in the news tonight.

I asked Reid in the Book Salon, what have the hearings accomplished, he retorted back that it got rid of AGAG and Alphonse Jackson… I wanted to respond that that wasn’t truly a consequence of the hearings…! But, Christy, had ran some interference…!

We got right to the edge of where both parties in both houses of congress were completely dependant on corporate money from the lobby laundry. I’m convinced that only the rise of the blogosphere and an independant national funding base for House candidates and then the alternative media voices from the blogs saved us from a complete corporate takeover. As it is, the entire leadership in both houses has been co-opted and corrupted, even Dick Durbin hasta dance ta the corporate tune that One Hung Harry Reid sings.

That’s why Obama and a “movement” around Obama is so important if only to provide a vehicle for an alternative national funding base. The independance of the blogosphere is also extremely important to provide a force outside the Democratic Party with cash and enough clout ta hold the elected cadre accountable.

The morphing of the Democratic Party into the new Republican Party has been halted I believe forever..but we came very close ta complete corporatization if the alternative to Obama had prevailed and put SwedeShoe Terry McAuliff back in charge of the DNC.

Secondly and most importantly, having Mrs. Bill in the White House would make it almost impossible for Obama to govern at a time when a new and expanded Democratic majority is gunna hafta be herded in front of one leader…the first order of business for Obama is gunna be to help establish new leadership cadres in both houses and he won’t be able to accomplish that with the junior Senator from New York organizin’ the old leadership with a bag a corporate money.

Albert Einstein described belief in God as “childish superstition” and said Jews were not the chosen people, in a letter to be sold in London this week, an auctioneer said Tuesday.

The father of relativity, whose previously known views on religion have been more ambivalent and fuelled much discussion, made the comments in response to a philosopher in 1954.

As a Jew himself, Einstein said he had a great affinity with Jewish people but said they “have no different quality for me than all other people”.

“The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish.

“No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this,” he wrote in the letter written on January 3, 1954 to the philosopher Eric Gutkind, cited by The Guardian newspaper.

The German-language letter is being sold Thursday by Bloomsbury Auctions in Mayfair after being in a private collection for more than 50 years, said the auction house’s managing director Rupert Powell.

In it, the renowned scientist, who declined an invitation to become Israel’s second president, rejected the idea that the Jews are God’s chosen people.

Thanx for linkin’ to the Kos post…I have been reading Kos more than my usual mornin’ and evenin’ scan these last few weeks because I think en toto that blog has the best front page election writing on the blogosphere. I’m gettin real tired a MYDD and Talking Points Memo is good but not as prone to anaysis, I read it for news.

I hope we don’t lose sight of the real mission of this election in the euphoria of finally havin’ a nominee and all the huggin’ and kissin’ that goes with it. We hafta kill the fascist beast that has ahold of our democracy and to do that is to do more than beat back Crazy John McCain…we hafta redo the Democratic Party and isolate those elected leaders infected by the corporate virus. We have gotta give Obama the space and the electoral strength to make his own dicisions and create an administration responsive to a wider constituency than the existing oligarchy.

And that means there is no place for Mr. and Mrs. Bill anywhere close ta the White House. Let ‘em go back ta Hope and the library that Murdock built.

KEEP THE FAITH AND KEEP YER EYES ON THE PRIZE!!

I hope Barack AND Michelle are clean and have been clean of substantial corporate leverage. I would be feeling much better if Edwards were leading us into battle.
