Well, it's an election year and we are a political TV show, so it's time to wheel out the gasbags for an election round table, right? But wait! WE get to choose who is on TV now.
In GritTV's first election roundtable, listen to author and essayist Walter Mosley, renowned for both his fiction featuring Easy Rawlings and most recently The Tempest Tales, now creator of the Democratic Initiative; Hendrik Hertzberg, Senior Editor and veteran Staff Writer for the New Yorker and author of Politics: Observations & Arguments and Chris Rabb, Founder and Chief Evangelist on Afro-Netizen, and a Democratic Committee representative.
The roundtable guests reflect on Barack Obama's ascendancy as the likely Democratic Presidential nominee, despite Hillary Clinton's blowout in West Virginia. The question today: Is Obamarama magic or magic trick? Will an Obama presidency mark a real change for Beltway politics, for racial justice and for moving a progressive agenda? Or are we going to be scratching our heads in a few years?
GRITtv Roundtable Part 1:
GRITtv Roundtable Part 2:
But that's not all. We have a whole show. (Click here for tonight’s full program). Arianna Huffington (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/), Don Hazen (http://www.alternet.org/) and Laura discuss the overall lameness of the MSM and the rise of new media, Billionaires for Bush remind us who's in charge and much, much more. Don't touch that dial, there's Grit on it.

Aloha, Chase!
Jus cogens!
Hey folks, so great to see FDLers on the blog tonight.
Listening to what Mosley had to say, I think the chorus is only going to grow: the real work keeps up AFTER we elect a president.
Hey CT Check your MSN mail…
True, we need to hold their feet to the fire!
Mahalo, I haven’t tried, as I was busy today…! ;-)
Well how did the XP thing go??
Very cool. did some quick digging to find Laura Flanders web site.
Another exciting facet to the progressive media cause.
I held off on doing it, I was busy today, my daughter flew to the mainland…!
Laura, when are you going to be put on the FDL masthead?
a jaded roundtable, how apropos *g
Oh- just read the comments above too– Hi Laura! Things are certainly getting much more interesting… and you’re right, the work is not done after November.
Ms. Flanders -
Have you always been on Free Speech TV? Only found you there a few minutes ago and feel like I just died and arrived in progressive heaven. Simple explanation would be that I’m always over at Keith’s at 8 p.m. which conflicts with your time slot. PTL he’s now on at 10 as well so I’ll get to see you first and he’s just gonna have to wait. *g*
Heh, priorities, priorities…! ;-)
Good reason hope she is coming for vacation or some thing fun:>)
Great to see you Laura on day two following the grit-tv launch yesterday. Bravo and kudos here, there and everywhere!
Hurray! Thoughtful considered conversation.
Hey everyone!
We just started on FSTV yesterday. This is a brand new baby and we can’t wait to really ramp it up.
I’m noticing I have to slow down and hit the pause button, just so I can think about what’s being said for a while. Process it, digest it. Not used to doing that with the glib talking head MSM shows.
This is wonderful. Thank you!
Great thanks. Looking very sweet.
Only problem is now I have to learn how to stay awake ’til 11 p.m. *g*
That statement should send the late nite crew into hysterics but, hey! if they woke up at 4 a.m. like I do it wouldn’t seem so weird.
File System TV?
“putting the File 13 in corporate media”
oooohhh “Free Speech TV”
help if I read the comments first :)
Are y’all running on Link TV as well? Also, do you have more than one time slot at Free Speech?
What’s that little logo on Laura’s Jacket?
I”ll stay awake til 11 if you will!!!
I just watched the full feed of the show and I recommend screening the whole thing sometime. the interstitial videos are really worth catching.
http://grittv.blip.tv/file/903930/.
My video is still hiccuping but I’ll just hold my breath until it goes away…
say, how many people who voted in early primaries would change their hillary vote now? I mean, if we are talking game changers and stuff.
I have to admit that when I read this session of GritTV was parimary candidate coverage, I rolled my eyes.
As jaded as I am by this primary season it is most truly freshing to hear, in TV form, about the importance of continued grassroot activism in policy once we have a Dem in the White House.
You’ve been waiting all day to say interstitial, haven’t you? One of my favorite words. There should be a verb form, there’s no exact equivalent.
Mine did too a little. Yesterday someone posted a larger screen version, included and auto-played the sequence of clips, that ran smoother for me.
Jaded? You…? ;-)
I’ve been searching for any sort of results from the MS-1 race, anybody have a link?
we are only on FSTV. I will check on the times but I am sure it will run at least 2 or 3 times a day for your viewing convienence.
check Kos, they’re runnin’ a thread
I’ve been looking, too but haven’t found anything yet.
Mahalo, PS! Yikes, I’ve got to visit the Orange Satan’s realm…! ;-0
Wow, keep doing these great interviews!
Yup, brownsox has one rolling there.
Woo-Hoo!
eye - eye - eye - eye….
Hillary’s speech in a word.
Oh, and rules? We don’ need no steenkin’ rools, unless they work for eye.
nice, yes?
hope it holds.
Ta! Now that I know y’all have only been there one day, will check the screen schedule tomorrow for times.
percentages holding for the Dem at 32% reporting in MS-01
Great news. Don’t expect a liberal - he was heavily supported by the Blue Dogs, but the Repubs have spent a lot of money to take this seat and they must be upset.
I’m struck by how well the guests listen to one another, and that their responses aren’t simply to ‘one up’ each other, but are more engaged in collaborative conversation — thinking something through as a group.
Chris Bell’s point in the first video about the need for ‘democratic literacy’ and the need to better understand WHY so many new people are turning out is a point we don’t hear often enough.
It’s as if there’s this big, mysterious thing happening that MSM thinks can be shrunk to polls/demographics. It’s almost certainly far more interesting (and important) than that. Nice mix of guests.
The Repugnants must be sh*tting bricks… One of the reddest districts! Bwhahahaha…! I smell a tsunami a’brewing in November…! 8-)
They’re trying to hold [not take] the seat as a Repub seat…the Rep was boosted to Senator in Trent Lott’s chair. $$$Millions of Repub $$$$ spent hehhehheh
Hillary who?
lol, naaaaa
Granted, but at least it’s more Dems, not necessarily better, but…! ;-)
Yes, I know. I’m from there. Hold is correct.
HIllary more generic now…will work hard for the Democratic nominee and depends on those who will vote in the next contests and the Superdelegates.
*sigh* No fatal Dean scream, close tho…! ;-)
Didn’t one of the gasbags say this was supposed to be a “big” speech?
That would be dilettante McAuliffe.
Pick one, anyone…! ;-)
Probably loses less face making conciliatory noises after a huge win than after a huge failure.
KO is on it, ‘there are some factual discrepancies…!’ ;-)
McAuliffe told Olbermatt earlier.
Wouldn’t it be nice not to have to listen to/see McAuliffe and Carville/Matalin and sundry other Clinton cronies?
Fern@57 — between Bering Sea adventures on Deadliest Catch heard snatches of the Hillary speech so I’m not a good total resource, but her speech had just a tad undercurrent of “I will not be dismissed…”
Formidable opponent continues even in this phase.
Whoops, Chris Rabb.
Yup. She’s got stamina and drive alright.
“Wouldn’t it be nice not to have to listen to/see McAuliffe and Carville/Matalin and sundry other Clinton cronies?”
Yes! Yes! Yes! Especially Carville/Matalin!!! Enough of them, already!
Bob in HI
She and Mcauliffe are going to crash SO hard from this month-long coke bender.
*months* long
I’m only getting the spin thingy on part 1.
I don’t think people whom read blogs get this TV thing.
Either everyone is watching or stareing blankly waiting for the reload thingy.
lol @ thingy
dizzy yet?
Wellllllll, I’m an old C programmer. I don’t know the object name of that thing.
Nah, I switched to Blip tv. Nice big screen, too.
gdb -_-
Love your dragon, Laura. Always knew ya had class.
cTuttle,
Good to hear from you. An I’ll let you in on a little secret. My middle name is Tuthill..

One of a few variations, the one that blew me away was Orange County Choppers version, Teuttel…! 8-)
