Too many bridges burned for HRC in my humble opinion. And too much of a lightning rod to get the Republican vote out.

The one thing to say for Hillary is that she’s completely transcended gender. I don’t think anyone is against her because she’s female and only a small vocal minority of her supporters support her for that reason. In fact, I’d say her vaunted “hard-working white” base is for her in spite of her being female.

. Bill Richardson for VP? Great way to bring women back into the fold. Just say “Whizzer White” three times, click your heels and maybe you’ll be back in Kansas, too.

Not to mention Bill’s pro baseball career that may have been interrupted by sniper fire.

But Richardson recalled a blunder that earned him criticism — naming Byron “Whizzer” White as his model Supreme Court justice.

He said he named White because the justice was nominated by John F. Kennedy, whom the governor said was his idol.

“Then I found out that Whizzer White was against Roe vs. Wade,” he said referring to the landmark Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion. “And he was against civil rights.

“That wasn’t a good one,” Richardson deadpanned. This won him laughter and applause.

It’s also telling who he chose when asked by Brian Williams to choose a living justice:

MODERATOR BRIAN WILLIAMS: We’d like to ask the same question of all of you, down the line, in order, and it calls for you to say a name or to pass. And Governor Richardson, we’re going to start with you. The question is, your model Supreme Court justice.

GOV. RICHARDSON: It would be Justice Whizzer White.

MR. WILLIAMS: How about someone who is among the living? (Laughter.)

GOV. RICHARDSON: It would be — and in this particular case, Judge Ginsburg, who said that this was an erosion of a woman’s right to choose and degraded the ability of a woman to protect herself health-wise.
