Editor's note: Please welcome to the Firedoglake tribe Laura Flanders, the radio-show host and author, and one of the most effective voices for progressives in the media. Laura will be posting here beginning this week; next week, her own blog will debut as one of the FDL sister sites. We're excited to add her powerful voice. -- DN
In a GritTV exclusive, catch Tom Morello, rated #26 on Rolling Stone's magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" and best known for Rage Against the Machine, as he talks with Laura Flanders during his recent 2008 Justice Tour.
With his band The Nightwatchman, Morello continues to bring together fans of music and activists from grassroots political organizations to mobilize for peace, human rights and economic justice through his group, Axis of Justice.
Hear Morello reflect on how he weaves his dual vocations as musician and activist. See the full interview at 8:00 pm eastern, 5:00 pm pacific.

So great to be able to welcome you, Laura. Looking forward to some great interviews!
Laura, welcome to the Lake. I’m so glad you are joining us.
Wow!
Yeah — very exciting, isn’t it? *g*
I get the impresstion that this will be finer than ol’60 grit :)
Welcome, Laura, what a kick! Thanks!
Great interview! And great to know what Tom Morello is doing!
Welcome to FDL Laura!
(and I’m still dumbfounded that Rolling Stone had enough sense to place Duane Allman as #2 on the list behind Jimi)
Welcome to FireDogLake, Laura Flanders!
This place just keeps getting better and better!! Kick off your flipflops and take a dip, Laura.
I thought you and barbara, in particular, would get a kick out of this, Toby. ..
I’m still working on my plan to send The Peanut an eyeball camera and instructions to hold it steady :)
Sorry all for this:
Holy Shit! Just overheard at work: “I believe more in Capitalism than I do in Democracy. It seems to solve more of the world’s ills.”
Don’t drink from the water cooler!
Welcome Laura,another voice of sanity.
Why that seems to be such a miracle these days is a sad comment on our ship of state.
Lets hope the voices of progressives can raise the alarm about an impending attack against Iran:

(D) candidates who now posture against the failed Iraq war have zero credibility if they do not exert themselves against the next one.
The same deceitful propaganda campaign is ramping up, there is no excuse for trusting Michael Gordon’s anonymous sources again this time.
If Obama doesn’t lead on this, I don’t see how someone who sincerely detests agressive war can vote for or support him.
But then again the (D) lease on my loyalty expired when David Brower, one of the founders of the Sierra Club, said:

Thank you FDler’s. It is a real honor and privilege to be here!!! We have been very busy getting this whole operation off of the ground and I just wanted to give you a quick idea of what we will be doing. We have assembled a crack team of producers/film makers/reporters/bloggers and we will be producing a daily one hour program (Monday-Thursday) about politics/culture/blogs and more!!! We have a lot of exciting programs lined up and you will be able to see them on FDL this week and next week on our own site. I will be telling you all more in the very near future. Have a great day and I look forward to working with you all…
LF
btw… hot tip.. check in around 5pm est for an exciting national debut from AgitPop (remember Schoolhouse Rock, we’ve got White House Rock)
Can’t wait, Laura! Gang, Laura and her team have a LOT of great stuff in store for all of us, so get ready for some great discussion with a whole lot of folks who are well informed, ready to talk about the issues that matter, and who aren’t afraid to speak up when it’s needed.
Laura and her team have been putting in a LOT of work on this, and I cannot wait for you all to see the results of these efforts!
Welcome Laura,
Wow, big waves at the lake. Let’s go surfing.
Is this the same Grit TV?
Good morning, y’all.
Oh my stars! (fanning self)
What fantastic news! Seems like a good time for this…never gets old:

thanks for the brower link.
Wowsah! FDL just keeps on gettin’ better and better and better and….
The media synergy you’re leading, Jane and Christy, is as revolutionary a force for change and progress as Obama is leading in politics.
You go, ladies!
All the more reason the Suits wanna step on the ‘net neutrality airhose. ‘eh?
Laura - Several of us have been discussing (well, perhaps the better word is ‘whining’) about FDL doing programming on Sundays so that we don’t have to watch “Meet the Press” etc. This sounds terrific.
Laura, never understood why you weren’t given a greater role with Air America. I’ve been a loyal listener since the beginning, and it seems like they’re trying to get rid of listeners like me and many others I know. (It’s approaching 100% white male as far as show hosts…how progressive…)
Oh well, who needs ‘em anyway when we got the InnerToobz. We all must support financially and do word-of-mouth marketing for these New Media outlets. Viva La Toobz!
This is wonderful! Welcome to The Lake, Laura. And Chrisy, Jane; I can’t thank you enough for this forum.
Glad you brought that up. Been sittin here thinking “wasn’t it just last week someone was talking about FDLTV”? Thought maybe my mind was gettin worse until you spoke up. Thanks, Toby
welcome to the lake laura!! i remember you fondly from your appearances on “to the contrary” saturday mornings - you were the one bright spot for me …. listened to you on air america when i could find you….. anyhoo welcome again :o)
Small bow to Mr.Cbl — we aim to please…
Welcome to the Lake, Laura. It thrills me that so many smart, talented, progressive women are swimming in one body of water.
White House Rock? I hope you come up with something about our democracy as catchy as this:
Mr. Morton (Skee-lo version)(the intro isn’t long)
welcome laura!
what would nanant say firepups? digg it!
OT, but a good afternoon to you also, Toby.
I am not a big fan of country music; in fact, quite to the contrary. However, I have seen Roy Clark play guitar, and to be honest, I’m disappointed he’s not on the list of 100 from Rolling Stone.
He plays a pretty mean banjo, too. And fiddle. And mandolin. Horns, not so much. Linkydoodle
Welcome Laura !
what hath Hamsher wrought ?
so, another reckless war against a country that poses no threat to the USA, it seems this is nothing to get worked up about in (D) captured netrootsia.
there could be only weeks remaining before Cheney gives the go signal, and the chaos and carnage in the Middle East will increase exponentially, with many thousands more innocent lives extinguished.
moral abhorrence at state murder may not suffice to arouse ‘netizens’, but what about the political, electoral ramifications? How would the (D) brand be affected by an escalation against Iran?
Badly - not getting on the right side of this issue now might seal the defeat of Obama in a climate of war hysteria - with the media in full propaganda overdrive, and McCain promising to go all the way, the (D) candidate would likely tack to the right, losing sincere war opponents and not convincing wavering independents and repugs disgusted by Bush.
and, Iran will not be a cakewalk - there could be casusalties on the US side, which the media would broadcast 24/7.
If the candidate cannot claim principled opposition to the new aggression, before it began, they will be caught in the awkward straddle of Kerry and Clinton, who didn’t have the guts to oppose the Iraq debacle before it happened.
Among other goodies Jane & Redd provide links of sanity unknown to the vast, so-called mainstream media. The spirit of Thomas Paine is alive and well at da Lake. ;~)
Faux News breathlessly reporting McInsane has embraced enviromentalism with an upcoming Oregon speech. Bhawhahahahahaha!
Oh my.
Thank you Laura so very much!
Tom Morello, too!
(*****FDL tribe*****)
Seconded.
Any chance the content from Laura’s show will be available online after it airs?
