(Grump) Well, if I can’t have FDL-tv, then I suppose I’ll have to make do with Sam Seder: Christy Hardin Smith 5:00 pm est. other guests not yet announced.
well keep talking it up, wouldn’t that be the best? I love watching Jane interview people, and she’s great as panelist because she keeps the conversation on point.
Mornin’ all! Happy day to all you Mothers.
Should read: Sam Seder: Christy Hardin Smith 5:00 pm est. other guests not needed.
This morning I’m going to skip the blatherers and go straight to the cuteness. Sunday with Daniel (and his parents). Happy Mother’s Day to all of you!
lol twolf!
TexasEllen, is Daniel perchance your grandson? Sounds like a wonderful Sunday.
Great things to mothers everywhere..way better things after 2008. Isn’t Alec Baldwin on 60 min tonight?
yes he is
Well, so far the only plan I can come up with is to send Christy one of those eyeball cameras and hope The Peanut will hold it steady.
He’s our first and only (so far!) and he’s six months old and adorable! He’s only been home from the hospital for about six weeks. Heart surgery, trach, g-tube, etc. but he just keeps on keeping on with MooMoo melting smiles and laughs.
ah, a tough guy…gotta love him.
Good Morning and best wishes to all Mothers of every stripe.
Speaking of which, saw a very funny one woman show yesterday afternoon, One Funny Mother. If you ever get the chance to see her, I’d recommend it. It’s a 707 at times.
lol! I’d love to see those videos
But here’s a first step to FDL-tv (ev?)…
aww, so glad he’s home, sounds likes he’s doing well.
It’s a very special Mother’s Day then for you this year.
(((MooMoo & Daniel)))
Hey morning MM!
lol the promo for the show.
Hi Elliot
She was really good, and had a nice edge to her work. It’s really quiet here this morning. I’m on the front porch with coffee, squirrels and yellow jasmine.
mMmm, sounds so lovely.
Did you see Christy on Timmeh the other day?
link
I wonder if Christry was in full boa mode when she wrote that. *g*
Yes I did see it. I never got what the Pumpkin Head offered. Even before I was as aware as I am now, I never understood what exactly it was that he had to offer. Now I know, he has no soul or conscience.
I am totally with you on your FDL-tv. Mentioned it (again) on a thread yesterday.
Hugs, barbara the momster
Well shit, I did all that today!
Most defnintely she was, had to be *s*
.
Timmeh’s always so busy asking his own questions, he’s not really listening to the answers. And his questions are not so much hard-hitting, as they are trying-hard-to-get-a-sound-bite gotchas. imo not the ideal way to discuss issues.
And his guests are almost always those from his own comfort zone, rather than the best guest to discuss the topic — and then there’s his choice of topics . . .
So a reminder to all,
let these fat heads know who you’d like to see talking about what you think is important to discuss. Up top there are direct links for feedback to the shows. Let’s shape them up and redirect their attention to what IS important– as best we can, in our best fdl manners of course.
morning barbara — & David
and Happy Mother’s Day to you Smgumby *g* ;)
Ah, this is very tender. Happy MD, TexasEllen!!
You are wonderful! Thanks.
just a few more minutes till I face Fox News Sunday -and no Marion haz mat suit this week!- so fortify me with flowers, what’s blooming in David’s garden?
Okay, I’m gonna do a little tap dance until the rest of our pup friends rise and shine. (step brush brush step, tappity tap)
Examined talking heads lineup and I don’t see the omnipresent slithery serpent Joey LIEberman anywhere. Did he vote against Mother’s Day, too?
Foxs News Sunday, you have a very strong stomach.
The downfall of any given institution has to start somewhere, and it seems like with broadcast TV journalism, it started wit him.
Thanks for the links for feed back. My guess is there’s no seeds in that pumpkin head of his.
Have puke basket right next to me,
I actually get a perverse pleasure out of the Fox News All Stars, I love to hate the bloody Kristol and the morally intellectuated giantude of Brit Hume
Good Morning Elliot and Firedogs,
Happy Mothers Day Everyone !
was away at work all day yesterday - was this discussed ?
handpicked McCain Convention Coordinator resigns after mag discloses his lobbying efforts on behalf of Myanmar Junta
. . .and if the cyclone hadn’t happened ?!?!?
so!
Gardens could be an antidote for Fox. Well, that and puke shields.
Ah, David’s gardens! Well, it’s been dark and damp and cold in MN lately, so things are coming up slowly. However, there are daffodils and mayflowers blooming, and in the wildflower garden, bloodroot and vinca. Even the tulips aren’t in bloom yet. The hostas and lily of the valley are almost good to go. The butterfly garden has a new addition, besides butterfly weed (an unfortunate name for a lovely mauvy-bloomed flower), menarda and something else I can’t remember — a new Joe pye-weed. Shasta daisies and painted daisies. Forget-me-nots. Coneflowers and sweet william. A small pond that at the moment features . . . pond scum (no, it is not a Republican pond!).
The azaleas (yes, even in MN) are coming along, as well as tea roses and shrub roses. An abundance of Stella d’Oro day lilies ready to go. Brown-eyed susans and Mexican sunflowers, and ageratum run amok. The cold frame houses salvia, lavender, impatiens, good ol’ marigolds (always hoping they’ll discourage our large community of rabbit poachers), snapdragons, coleus, petunias, pansies. Dwarf lilacs, weigela (sp?), forsythia, golden ninebark. Forgetting some things.
In the northeast corner, the mini-orchard: assorted apple, pear, plum, apricot and peach (!) trees, plus grapes and currants and one neglected rhubarb plant that keeps growing anyway.
It’s a visual (and in some cases edible) feast when things get going.
When Richard Feynman (Nobel Prize Winner) was reviewing textbooks for the state of California, when he found a mistake, he would yell out in pain and tear the page out of the book.
Nice catch, thanks for the link.
When I grew up in Webster, NY rhubarb was the one thing the woodchucks and the rabbits would not eat!
Happy Mother’s Day everyone!
Has anyone heard from Quaker Girl or knows how she’s doing? Just thinking of her this morning. Is she a Mom?
So it looks like the Justice Dept is in full General Election mode. They are investigating (dems?) who may use staff for campaign purposes.
I forsee a slew of fishy indictments as November draws near. Test run Siegelman has been a smashing success, so time to ramp it up!
Rabbits. Bah. I swear all the bunny families sit around after work saying ‘what do you guys want for dinner?’, inevitably the answer must be, ‘let’s go over to Zippo’s house and see what they planted’. All of my plants, including the newly planted cotoneaster (if you can believe it!) is fair game to the bunnies. My house is like a fast food court in the mall to them.
Oh, rhubarb way too pedestrian for bunnies. They prefer the tender shoots of newly emerging succulents, the little buggers!
Already called the MrsGumby, gotta be sure and call Mom before I head off to bed though!
And because I have been neglectful…
Happy Mothers Day All!
yeah, considering McCain said this previously:
NY Times
and here’s Newsweek’s original report
Mr. Friedman-unit has a poignant piece about his mom at NY Times this morning.
Yep. Those corrupt Democrats can expect a slew of indictments come August and September.
Shitheel Mucousy will be hot on their tails.

I’m leaving now, it’ll take me a couple days, but it’ll be worth the drive to see it :)
I do hope you send Christy pics!!
Fox News Sunday, for when you didn’t quite drink enough to puke.
-G
Coffee’s on. Beer’s coolin’. And there’s a fine, vintage boxed wine waitin’ for you. Oh. And David’s jelly and applesauce!
I’m jealous Barbara. So far, I’ve raked the lawn (my son will mowing it today for the first time this season), bought two bushes (dwarf burning bush and a “something-a-rather”) that are not in the ground yet, planted some pansies, created one deck pot with pansies & a spike, and have some patio cherry tomatoes. That’s it! It’s looking kind of sparse around here. ;-)
((barbara and David)) - sounds magical . . .sigh
Zippo @ 36 - 707!
Yesterday, in Christy’s morning post, I believe she said the Quaker Girl is in hospice, so that’s not good.
I got the best Mother’s day present today. My son has been offered a pretty good job about 3hrs away. Hooray! He’s been struggling since he graduated with a so-so job (and living at home). Well, he’ll make a decent living and I’ll get him out of the house.
What’s not to love?
It’s beautiful, KayInMaine. Very high maintenance, however. I am just the apprentice, so I have a lot to learn to help out this year. Anyway, open house here, any time!
she is a mom - and her poignant comment to Christy included her hopes for her children living in a reclaimed democracy
Good Morning (((QuakerGirl)))
(((cbl2))) and thanks!
Just talked to my bro in Rumford. He said it has been chilly, chilly, chilly.
-G
For my wife’s mother’s day present, our son is moving back in. For the summer. He’s 18, and just finishing up his freshman year of college.Aaah…. the house had been so clean for the past nine months.
Happy Mothers Day to all you Moms and Mommys out there!
Ooh, I better tell him that he is not to bring home his dirty laundry.
The last couple of days have been chilly (gets down in the 30’s at night), but we’ve had some glorious days. It’s better than snow. ;-)
(((((HUGGING QUAKER GIRL)))))
Happy Mother’s Day to you! We’re all thinking of you. ;-)
Good morning, (((QuakerGirl)))
Happy Mother’s Day all.
cbl2 - if you haven’t visited PUAC since yesterday the answer to your question is the Japanese describe domestic, or house, cats as “the tiger that feeds from your hand.” *g*
His bedroom was once the cutest little den. My mind is whirling with the possibilities.
Can’t remember the company, but did you ever see the commercial where the Mom & Dad are “upset” their child is going off to college and as soon as they unpack the truck to fill up the dorm room, the next scene shows them measuring the windows, because they’re going to redo the house as if they never had a child?
LMAO!
Love that commercial.
thanks Elliot -
jizzicoff’s money quote -
Mother’s Day Uh-oh
thanks ! looks like you don’t have to worry about a certain permanent central texan houseguest, :D
How cute. Love this one: http://icanhascheezburger.com/.....-my-mommy/
;-)
Ummm, “could fuel perceptions”? Crikey.
Every day, I become more convinced that McCain is the GOP’s sacrificial goat. How else to explain his “miraculous” phoenix-like rise (appropriate for someone from AZ, I suppose) and ascendancy to the top o’the ticket? Surely he is viewed as totally expendable. Why waste a “good” Republican in an election widely ceded to the Dems (always dangerous to coast on that meme)? I can’t get past thinking he’s just a place-filler, a distraction from something more . . . strategic going on. Is it Memorex or is it tin-foil-hattery?
I was just looking at the 1976 election on wiki and the states that went for Carter are in Red and the states that went for Ford are in blue, how wacky is that? Just google 1976 Election, and it should be on the top of the list.
My mom (and dad) demanded that I do my own laundry from about age 12. And I had to help out with sorting and such starting at about age 7.
So even if I brought dirty laundry home, I still had to do it myself so why bother.
I actually feel sorry for this generation. The cost of living is so high that they need more help than they should. Entry level pay just doesn’t cut it. Not to mention my daughter’s teaching salary.
Please excuse my ignorance but I’m in the dark on that one *g*
Good Morning Elliot and all.
Those Eggs are purty. Are they chocolate?
puke basket in use,
Ben Stein power player of the week on Fox News Sunday
:0====|
Happy Mom’s Day all!
Here in NE MN, fishers (opening fishing yesterday) & moms got an unwelcome present from Mother Nature: 3 inches of snow last night & still on the ground this morning!
Add that to the mistakes I’ve made.
that’s a dear one!
back to that sentence for a moment -
hey jizzicoff, got some news for ya !
Very interesting theory. They did manage to put up the most laughable candidates this time. Why make a shining star an automatic loser when they’ve got so many losers to choose from. Being the turd that floats to the top of the cesspool can’t be a distinction to be proud of. Perhaps they figure the party hasn’t gone far enough to the right and will use the next 4 years to rectify that discrepancy.
Mornin’, demi.
Actually no, they are all all-natural bird eggs.
Striking shot, isn’t it?
She’s an incredible photographer.
when i was 12 my mom said i had to do my own ironing. that was the absolute end of my wearing blouses in the winter - it was all sweaters from that moment on. the ironing board i moved here 3 years ago is still in it’s packing in the storeroom. i’m packing again - the closing on the house i bought is this friday and a friend who was helping me pack yesterday told me about having recently bought a clothes steamer. i’m going later to borrow boxes from her and will take a blouse for a demo. this is sounding like a real possibility.
had they been “real” tigers, was planning to indenture myself to you - permanently.
sadly unpacks bags
Ugh!!!!
so did you tie one on?
I keep thinking about all the time and research they’ve wasted investigating Hillary. They went so far as to put a Rove crony in the Arkansas DOJ just to dig up dirt. They were ready for her. Not to say they won’t double their efforts now, but at least they didn’t get their dream opponent.
Yes, I saw that under the photo, but, a girl can pretend, yes?
what up Tex ? good to see you on threads - congrats on the new house
like many here not much on having the latest and greatest, but the newest generation dryers have a steamer option - i want one !
More on McCain’s foreign agent adviser from Howie, who also was head of the RNC National Convention.
MYANMAR– THE McCAIN CONNECTION
ygm
Isn’t that lovely? I wonder how many death squads in Iraq McCain’s lobbyist friends are supporting and fighting for? Hell, I wonder if McCain’s lobbyists are arming our enemies? Wouldn’t surprise me.
It’s official…John McCrazy will be Bush/Cheney’s 3rd term.
LOL, I’ve been looking for that gig myself. I have actually petted an adult female Bengal. At the San Diego Zoo in the early 1970’s. Brought tears to my eyes. Incredible animal, made me really look the puny human I am.
ok, check this out, c and l is on it but this needs some more scrutiny
so what if the are Iranian?
america has supplied ordinance all over the world, in addition our ordinance is stolen all the time
exactly what does it mean if this ordinance is Iraninan anyway?
answer, nothing
cheney is again making crap up through his rediculous “team b” which is there specifically to come up with bull crap when the cia refuses
my favorite big cats are Mountain Lions
Back then the lefties and Democrats were commies….better red than dead and of course the famous slur on Congressman Claude Pepper…Red Pepper.
Now you can call a GOP-er red and they take it as point of pride.

The Diplomatic Art Of Listening upstairs
Well, it was different in my family - I was seven when mom went back to finish her degree and dad took over making sure the household chores got done. Consequently I learned at an early age there was no such thing as man’s work or woman’s work it was work that needed to get done so I’d better get off my rusty dusty and do it.
Shhhh….you’ll ruing the catapulting of the propaganda effect.
-G
Bus Driver Charlie Black has represented Blackwater in the past and may still be doing so
wow dakine,
I started doing my own laundry in self defense, only way I was sure to get all MY clothes back (sisters!)
well, they’re leaving the washer and dryer. the washer says it’s a “smart” washer. that terrifies me that i won’t know how to use it. the previous owner said he’s packed up the instruction book and won’t be able to get to it anytime soon, but he will show me how to use it. maybe it’s also smart enough to do dishes and mow the lawn, run errands and cook. i don’t know if the dryer is smart enough to steam, but it’s certainly worth checking out.
They started me ironing at about 7 or 8, doing handkerchiefs.
I have my shirts laundered since I know how much work it can be.
That didn’t work for me. My sister still borrowed my shirts.
I remember as a child hearing Pat Boone say on tv that he’d rather his daughters be dead than red. I was horrified.
where?
well, why not, once you had them so neatly ironed. lol.
wow, that’s pretty young to be handling a big hot iron.
I remember that and he’s still a dickhead.
My best friend’s ex worked for a big cat “farm” north of Tampa (Brooksville area?) for a number of years. A couple of times when I visited, they were “fostering” new born tiger or leopard cubs.
Another time, I got a tour and it was fascinating to see these animals displaying all the same characteristics as my house feline, just on a much larger scale.
It was supervised but, yeah, ya learn real quick that hot means HOT.
Fucking Pat Boone.
I just watched a documentary called Fuck and in it they interviewed Boone, who lamented the foul language.
Says he uses his name “Boone” as a cuss word.
What a pud.
-G
Barbara(back after a quick MD breakfast with all the inlaws and outlaws) - I’m with you. I think this is the ‘pat John on the head so that he can’t say later that we didn’t let him “play”‘ thing. I think the Goopers couldn’t really care they win the WH this time. I think they know that this will be like ‘76 with Carter - everyone is so ticked off that they are going to be hit big time. but, this one comes with ‘bennies’ in that whoever gets this will be a one termer because they have screwed things up so badly that they feel we won’t give whoever gets in a chance to do the clean up necessary.
Ya know, about those boone-ing Republicans . . . not very satisfying, is it?!
