That is funny.

The family that had adopted somewhere around 30-40 kids in mid Oregon used to come and speak to the foster parent & adoption groups. The sad thing is that eventually the state had to investigate & remove some of the kids due to neglect charges.

It was sad, they were such a model of taking in kids with special needs but they became overwhelmed.

Nyoo Yawk City?! That’s way cool. I’d love to get better acquainted with Manhattan, having only been there once.

I envy you both France Italy and Greece. Hope you’re going where the people are warm, life goes slow and you get to enjoy both with good food and wine.

Was that the De Bolts? They were kinda famous for adopting lots of kids, too. Sorry the couple you knew didn’t recognize their limitations. Even with adopting/fostering there’s a limit.

That sounds familiar…. there is something that happens after you adopt and it might be with birth babies but what I call it is “you can’t eat just one”…. that old potato chip commercial….

I adopted my two and was in the works to adopt another sibling group of 5 when life hit me and knocked some sense in me….. Love all three of my kids and my many foster kids but glad that I didn’t go ahead….. As it was I went from one 9yr old to three kids from 4-9yrs in one day…

Watching the Democratic primaries campaigns spin out, takes me back to some rather harsh interactions I had here with dedicated Obamistas, notably PeterPierce.

Ultimately, I voted for Obama on super-Tuesday. But the thing that comes to mind tonight are their predictdions that “The Clintons will … in order to win.” I never went so far as to argue that the Clintons “wouldn’t,” but I was adamant that the Clintons “hadn’t” and that there was no concrete evidence that they “would.”

All I can say is that everything they predicted regarding the Clintons’ future behavior seems to have come to pass. So, I acknowledge the correctness of the Obamistas’ predictions, and I’m stunned at the levels of craziness I’m now seeing from the Clinton campaign.

I found this site thru Costco and made a book. You can’t read the poems but the photos came out pretty good.

Wow. Good for you on raising 3 and fostering others. Heaven knows good foster parents are needed everywhere.

I think there are some women who just like to have babies/small children around–probably not even consciously.

As for “can’t have just one”, there’s something powerfully compelling about being able to make a child’s life OK again. And the Fix It/Rescue Them phenom isn’t limited to foster/adoptive parents by any means.

As Mary says, moderation in everything. Even good things can become problems when taken to an extreme.

During it, he interjected to make a point about black people’s work ethic. “Can I weigh in on this cause I’m the moderator? You get up in DC at 6 o’clock in the morning, you know who’s waiting to catch the bus to go to work? Black people! They’re up earlier than anyone else going to work for longer hours.“

IMHO, most of the commentators of Hillary’s message didn’t focus on the work-ethic slur. I have little good to say about him, but h/t Tweety for getting this one right.

Saying that here in public really shows class. As does the fact that you waited for the Clinton campaign’s actual behavior to speak for itself.
I wish we weren’t witnessing the craziness from either the HRC campaign or from either candidate’s overbearingly fervent supporters. It’s really hard to realize that some of my fellow Dems/liberals can be just as emotionally driven as die-hard goopers. And I don’t exclude myself from that observation.

As time has gone on I’ve become ever more enthusiastic/hopeful about Obama. I can attribute much of it to congitive dissonance, which it psychospeak for sour-grapes and sweet-lemons, given that I vastly prefered any of several of the other candidates.

IMHO, he is by far the best of what we have left, and perhaps not so bad after all, (in spite of the good things he says about goopers like Reagan).
