Hooray! Comments are working, and so is Digg!
I’ve been looking forward to this LLN since your comment earlier, suzanne. I’ve got to go take care of some household stuff but I’ll be back to check out the bluze.
*standing on chair clapping for the tech crew*
thanks
tech people rock
the tech guys have jerry rigged together a fix that is gonna be a big surprise to the morning nsa monitor (/snark)
Just saw a clip with John and Sindy McKeating and jeezus…I almost feel embarrassed for them. They’re so robotic.
I typically make every effort not to get complacent, but Nov is gonna be cakewalk.
I know McKeating has huge advantages built in, and that 25-30% will vote for him just cuz there’s a R next to his name, but c’mon, they’ve got to be the worst husband/wife Prez ticket I can ever remember. They make Bob Dole look exciting. Wait till CrazyTrain falls off a stage into a vat of Bisquick, or some stupid shit. It’ll be sad.
BTW, when did Cliff “The Wingnut Destroyer” Schecter join FDL?? That’s fantastic news!
Have the chickens come home to roost?
dood (or doodette as the case may be), there was a post up on the front page earlier this week announcing it.
he’s running his own blog too which is accessible from the front page, just like tbogg and marcy
Depends on my mood. Thanks for the info!
I left this earlier today, but I want to start a movement to have this guy be Obama’s Press Secretary.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=EOrG1r3S6ZA
He’s been properly vetted.
hahaha that’s great
eric
Beats the lying sack of cute any day.
Great!
gwad, that is funny. What I really want to know tho, is how much tequila did he drink before the press conference?
Singing the blues tonite… That’s fer sure…! ;-)
i’ve been looking for a cut of that song by the marshall tucker band… forking great version they did
Hey VG!
Tequila?
A trip to the old Cadillac Bar, I think…
singing the blues
why i drink tequilla
Per Glenzilla today:
And, it was their Israel that has already nuclearized the Middle East.
even popa chubby sings the blues
Shit, wigwam – they are practically blowing this guy to get him to kill millions more.
Imagine what we will have to do to prevent it…
That was an awesome article he wrote today!
Huge Clapton fan- he’s very versatile among other things.
Sorry Suz, you’ve probably seen this before:
And, he had long hair and wasn’t wearing glasses. Must have been when he was younger. But, man, woman, does he rock outta site.

Interesting book?
“…change is indeed on its way, and the magnitude of that change will be monumental a tectonic realignment of the sort that occurs about every four decades, leading to a fundamental shift in policy priorities and voter coalitions.” –Michiko Kakutani, New York Times
I saw them on what? PBS News Hour? and one of the things they said was that when these cohorts come in like this, they sing the same tune for the rest of their lives– I think 40 years was mentioned. If so, very good news for Democrats.
Bob in HI
Well, I shall see ya on the flip side! Aloha Oe!!!
looking for the heart of saturday night is one of my favs
suz! where’s the brain bleach? i need it bad!
aloha ct
oh dear, fork in the road re: FDL comments- music or the real world with all its shit? I don’t want to be an irresponsible FDL citizen, but it’s a roller coaster. Sometimes I just gotta step back from the real world, and watch Clapton, just for a few, to keep my sanity.
nite tuttle
one gallon sized personal jugs are located at all power strips and there are 55 gal drums at each exit and entrance to the lake
i’ve learned to stockpile the stuff
cheap tequila

OK, here’s Johnny
bonkers- that is hilarious! who’s the white-haired guy in the tacky suit who is giving body language commentary in that Tom Waits piano video?
That’s Martin Mull.

fyi – just posted the mp3 for Tuesday’s HJC hearing with philippe sands (and other good witnesses) on john yoo and the torture lawyers for lhp at the bottom of her thread. if any of you are interested in it too, here’s the direct link to the webpage. i ripped it directly from the HJC feed (c-span’s wasn’t complete), so the audio is ok, but not great.
rock me baby
night all.
sweet thank you selise
g’nite selise
It is my understanding that this LLN is about the blues.
The real world will be there in the morning.
Listening to the blues will make us better prepared to deal with it.
In my humble opinion. :)
hi and nite selise
can’t have a blues thread without this
He and Fred Willard had a show together in the 70s. Can’t remember the name…I was a wee little muckraker at that time, sorry to say.
Looking back, I loved that time for mainstream entertainment. Muppet Show…Gong Show…SNL debut…Make Me Laugh…
I remember my parents going to see the Unknown Comic is S.F., and they brought me a signed “bag” but it was a tiny sandwich paper bag, since I was so young. Will always remember that…hilarious.

Imagine a 4 year old imitating him…no wonder my friends thought I was weird….
Whoops…this is a better link:

Fernwood 2-Night
sometimes, i can’t even get the blues when even cowgirls get the blues
have to include soap on that list….forking hysterical (or was that the 80’s)
Fernwood 2-Night
for those who never saw soap
Because FDL is my StrangeLoveAddiction
This is actually a favorite in Caledon in second life when i’m DJing for the dance/rave gigs. Sadly, my laptop has been on the fritz since january, so i won’t be spinning again until that’s fixed.
Didn’t that show launch Billy Crystal’s career?
oh no! is that gonna be bad for your vacation?
I caught the last of the Unknown Comic in the 80s myself, and it still makes me grin to this day. Muppet Show reruns and new shows? I NEVER missed, i swear it was Henson that gave me my love of snark and satire in general. XD
he was just an unknown comic before then iirc.. launched his film career for sure
very risky, playing an openly gay man in those days. the censors musta been going nuts
Yeah, that’s it!
bonkers!!! omigod! what a great youtube. I was laughing myself silly while watching! Brilliant performance!
Sorry. ^^ I respect the blues, just not something i listen to a lot. Gotta be in the right mood for them, and even then i don’t own much at all in that genre.

not a problem. music of all types is welcome in the late late nite threads..
what does that bring the totals to?
newt! that is absolutely great! Maybe he should be Hillary’s press agent!
Nope. The roomies at the Con will have their own laptops. A friend i refer to as Sychogrl will have one, as will Ten Yokou. So i’ll still have access, but i wont’ be able to post here, for the most part. I’ll be updating my LJ periodically in those 5 days of madness though.
We always share the laptops during this time. Kurogane’s down for the count, but i might be able to sneak onto Gema (Sychogrl’s dell) more than once to check on the crowd and politics. (When Touma isn’t turning the TV to TDS and Colbert!) The other roomie, Touma is a political blog junkie like i am so we’ll likely both have our turns to check our our favorite places. *grin* She hangs out at C&L.
The Great Bagged One was Murray Langston, who I think was also the creator of the San Diego Chicken.
He used to be on Make Me Laugh as well, one of my all time favorite shows.
Make Me Laugh
http://youtube.com/watch?v=vRNnRJny9j4
*laughing* that’s what tabbed browsers are for.. switching back and forth…
time zones
Exactly!
or maybe a wrap up video for the Hillary campaign! gwad, I started thinking of current Obama v Clinton race when I first started watched. Guess I really am a politcal junky to be reading between the lines like that!
how many days and have you heard back from the hospital yet?
I saw somewhere else tonight that said Dem Con Watch had Obama within 7 supers now. Didn’t check myself, and that seems pretty optimistic to me, but those defections from Clinton really speed it up!
I mean, started watching this YouTube. Hard to keep track of all of the youtubes here tonight! But, it’s the one that newt posted:
Fernwood Tonight Part 1 on UBS

Got ahold of them this morning. I set up a phone interview with the HR Recruiter. She seemed very pleased that i had the PTCB Certification already. The ‘god bless you’ she said right after i said that hinted that most of her applicants don’t have that to their name, most likely.
It still doesn’t make the hiring definite, but it ups the odds.
Either that or she’s a wingnut.
i’m a’liking your odds, alias – that is very encouraging indeed!
It didn’t set off any alarm bells for that. But it was a hurried conversation as i caught her between meetings. It sounded like honest relief that someone actually had the credentials she was looking for She asked who i’d been certified by. The PTCB answer was what she was looking for. Hence my thinking that the other applicants hadn’t done that, or had no idea about it.
Cool…I’ll keep my toes crossed for ya!
NOBODY LEAVES THIS PLACE WITHOUT SINGIN’ THE BLUES
Alias- been away from FDL for a bit (pressing real life stuff) so I’ve missed this part of your story. But, all best hopes and wishes.
ohmygawd, this was the bride to be’s favorite movie when she was a young thang….
Hey jacqrat- great to see you!!!
Howdy, y’all
It’s the first thing I thought of when I saw your video up top, Suz. Hey, VG
I’ve adored that movie FOREVER. XD So much geekery of music and comics and general fun.
Oh and the audible sigh of relief after the recruiter said ‘god bless you’ gave me that very obvious hint, by the way. I couldn’t miss it.
heh. I saw Albert just before he died. He was playing with Robert Cray…damn, that was a good show.
Speaking of Robert, he’s no fan George and Dick’s Excellent Advanture in Iraq.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=hY4JlbC6wQE
when the blushing bride to be was a pre-teen and teen, this was one of her movies of choice. she was, after all, a babysitter at the time.
I was about 8 when it came out. It was just general fun and i was cheering on the little Thor fangirl.(my parents should have figured out i was a fangirl in training at that point!)
when you’re used up, where do you go
god damn…
she loves that, ferris, and pretty in pink.
opening line to that robert cray video…. heartbreaking
Doesn’t anybody Digg the blues?
Suzanne, thanks for the music. I’m done. See you all later.
Nite.
thanks and g’nite neuro
My favorites at the time(and still are to this day) are The Dark Crystal and The Last Unicorn.
I have to say hearing Christopher Lee as King Haggard was one of those things that endeared me as fan to him completely. His is one of those striking low voices, and he’s always had it. Capitalizes on it, even.
one last thought….
sonny & brownie
just like i can listen to james earl jones counting and enjoy it :)
a nice note to end with, thanks neuro
about time for me to head out pups, g’nite all and thanks for hanging with me (hiccups and all)
nite suzanne
Hey all! Gotta crash, but thanks Suz and everyone for such a classic and memorable FDL thread! And, all those great YouTubes! I just overloaded my space in the bookmark area. ;)
vg, create your own utube account and you can save up to 500 favorites plus 3 playlists (of 20 each)
there’s a fresh pot of coffee on for those who need it. (poof)
*grin* I’m with you there too.
My favorite japanese voice talents are also deep voiced and growly too. Although there’s one that’s my dad’s age, and he plays the most insane tricks with his voice as a favorite villain of mine. Not so much a striking range of voice, as the subtler things, as the character loves to add double meaning and triple innuendo to everything he says. Usually equals me in a swoon by the end of the episode. XD He’s an old theater veteran on top of some sterling dub credits to his name. (Same guy voiced Cmdr Data on TNG during the 90s, and just recently voiced Davy Jones in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy dub.)
