village-timmy.jpg.... Just watched Chief Village Idiot Tim Russert give the horserace rundown of the campaign by informing us that "they are both different candidates than they used to be." Gee, I wonder if that's going to be part of the "Straight Talk Express" talking points from here on out? It's already on the tips of the Village tongues ...

... The consensus at MSNBC is that "this is a big night for Obama" ...

... I just love hearing Pat Buchanan nattering on about "the white vote" ... right ....

Howie has a useful corrective to the previous post regarding the polls showing many Clinton voters saying they won't vote for Obama in the fall:

This is complete poppycock and the numbers mirror the 2000 split in the GOP split between McCain and Bush voters who solemnly declared they would never vote for their nemesis-- although in the end, the only Republicans who didn't vote for Bush were John and Cindy McCain themselves.

I should have noted that historically, these kinds of polls aren't terribly indicative of how voters actually behave in the fall. But they do indicate that there's a lot of work ahead for both camps.

It's difficult to say to what extent racism is playing a role in these voter decisions. But considering where these votes are occurring, it would be foolish not to consider it a likelihood. Past races involving white men won't tell us much about this dynamic.

Meanwhile, MSNBC is reporting that three Obama campaign offices were hit with bomb threats:

TERRE HAUTE, Indiana - Authorities evacuated and searched three Barack Obama campaign offices in Indiana Tuesday in response to a bomb threat made while people voted in the state's primary.

The bomb threats were made in a call to a Terre Haute television station. Lewis Robinson of the Secret Service's Indianapolis office said the caller made threats against Obama offices in Terre Haute, Vincennes and Evansville.

Obama spokesman Kevin Griffis said workers left the offices and continued working by making cell phone calls.
