So many new rules have them boxed in these days that they probably hardly know whether they’re coming or going, and may be suffering burnout themselves.<br /> But, that aside, DANG!</p> <p>The kids! It’s supposed to be about the kids and families and their future. How can they grow if they’re stomped on and hemmed in at every turn? I’m really proud of your son, and of you too, for standing up for him.</p> <p>I strongly suspect things are awry largely because of all the idiotic extra paperwork required these days. If they would JUST let the teachers teach with the majority of their time and energy, instead of spending the countless hours filling out forms full of mindless ways to measure the fact that they are indeed teaching.</p> <p>Most of those forms are just busywork and accomplish very little I betcha. Further, they can be counter productive. The finest Gifted Student teacher I ever knew just retired early - last year - in frustration over the rule-makers insisting, as she put it, “that [she] fit all her students into neat little boxes all just alike.” That cannot be done. It should not be attempted with <em>any</em> children, much less the truly gifted. There probably was a perfectly good reason why Bill Gates & Albert Einstein didn’t finish school. Today’s kids are hemmed in even tighter. And the results sometimes are heart-rending.</p> <p>Keep close tabs Demi, in whatever way you deem best. Your special son has a special mom in his corner.
