Hi folks, Cliff here again, of the soon-to-be-created Cliff Schecter's Campaign Silo right here at FDL. It is exciting stuff.

But not quite as exciting as Marty Parrish's day was yesterday, who found out what happens when you say something that John McCain doesn't like. Mr. Parrish, for speaking truth to power, was dragged out of a McCain town hall meeting. Yes, he asked McCain whether he had ever called his wife a word that rhymes with runt. Which McCain did. How do I know? I wrote about it in my new book The Real McCain.

But I digress. Here is a description of what happened by Keith Dinsmore of The Huffington Post:

Marty Parrish was aware of John McCain's history as an alleged adulterer and that he had left the wife who had raised his children while McCain was held captive in Vietnam for a rich, young trophy wife.

But last week, when Parrish -- a business owner in Des Moines -- read a HuffingtonPost article by Adam McKay, "Vetting the Candidates," that related how McCain had verbally abused Cindy McCain in front of reporters and staff, Parrish became both angry and concerned.

"A guy who would call his wife a trollop and a c--t just because she had ruffled his hair in front of five guys is not only a jerk, but a dangerous hothead if he ever gets his finger on the button," Parrish said Thursday evening.

"And since the mainstream media has decided to give McCain a free pass, I decided to stand up and, if they gave me an open mike, ask the question that the press refuses to touch," he explained. "Our country is in a serious crisis after nearly eight years of Bush, and America appears to be oblivious to the danger this guy (McCain) poses to our country," said Parrish.

So thanks to a citizen doing their part, the question finally got asked. And as you may have noticed, McCain refused to answer it. As the French would say, Quelle suprise. Marty Parrish is just the latest soul to find out what I have been trying to get across in my book and subsequent interviews: John McCain is no different than George W. Bush. Questions are not to be tolerated. Dissent will be crushed.

That folks, is The Real McCain.

P.S.: If you have a free moment, catch me on NPR today at 2:20 PM EST, discussing McCain, and perhaps the O'Reilly Factor tonight (yet to be 100% booked--still waiting).
