Kudos to the B 52’s for putting out a great new album Funplex, their first in sixteen years! Can’t stop dancing to it. What’s The Spin You’re In?
The Spin I’m In: Dig YourselfBy: Donita Sparks Friday May 2, 2008 3:07 pm |
I love how fast you can find music these days. I heard a song on the radio yesterday that I really dug, Googled what I thought the chorus was saying and there it was- U.R.A Fever by The Kills. And here it is for you. Cool video too.

zed!
hey hi howdy firepups!
That is one of my favorite functions of the google! I hear an unknown song on the radio that I really like, I google a few lines I can remember, and instantly I have the title, artist, album, lyrics, and youtube video!
Just freaking amazing and I have never had it fail!
Heh, my mom keeps hearing a song on the radio that they never say what it is, she Googles the words she hears and it gives her nothing, it drives her nuts!!
The new B-52’s song is fab! Love it. Also loved the one by The Kills too, Donita. Thanks for linking to it.
Hello everyone :D
I need to get my phones plugged in for those new B-52’s songs. Awesome stuff eh?
woot! sup y’all
I know- and Official Website, MySpace page, and Wikipedia bio. Amazing.
She must be hearing words that are not the actual lyrics (one of my favorite tricks), otherwise I can’t imagine why it’s not working!
Just like Mom to screw up something so simple…
Hi YoungJess!
Hmm, what does she think the lyrics are? Maybe she’s hearing it wrong like “Excuse me while I kiss this guy” instead of “Excuse me while I kiss the sky” type of thing.
I love the B52s. I’m going to see them in June on Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors tour. It was a lot of fun last year, and I’m sure it will be just as fun this year.
s’cuse me while i eat this fly
yup - right on about new B-52’s songs…
I was trying to find the lyrics to “Creampuff”, but with no success.
PS. Hi everyone.
Hi thormaillet!
Yes, it rocks. I’ll look for a Youtube.
By the way all that was me, I forgot to logout before commenting. Then I had to go put the Fini face on and come back. Hence why I am late. I like chocolate milk.
Does your Fini face have a chocolate mustache?
Faster Pussycat! THRILL THRILL!
Hiya.
smgumby is you, fini?
Cream Puff War lyrics:
“No, no! She can’t take your mind and leave.
I know it’s just another trick she’s got up her sleeve
I can’t believe that she really wants you to die
After all it’s more than enough to pay for your lie.
Wait a minute, watch what your doin’ with your time
All the endless ruins of the past must stay behind, yeah.
Well, can’t you see your killing each others soul?
Your both out in the streets and you aint got no place to go
Your constant battles are getting to be a bore
So go somewhere else and continue your cream puff war.
Wait a minute, watch what your doin’ with your time
All the endless ruins of the past must stay behind, yeah.”
Hi SamsonTheCat,
I challenge you to figure them out. You’re German right? That should be extra difficult, but I can give you clues.
Meh have to reboot… :/
wha, huh??
I has a chocolate mustache, yes indeed maam! (smacks lips)
No Jacqi, I logged in as Donita for her first comment up top.
Can some of you send an email to Howie Carr of WRKO radio for laughing, tee-heeing, and mocking the 76 year old mother of the DC Madam’s 911 call she made after she found her daughter hanged?
http://whitenoiseinsanity.type.....kes-h.html
I am so pissed off at him right now! Who the hell laughs at anyone who has just found their child hanged? No one except A TYPICAL NEOCON!
His email address is: howiecarr@wrko.com
Thank you.
I know there are much more important issues going on today (Turkey bombing Iraq, people dying in tornadoes in our country, Iraqis still suffering under neocon rule…etc), but I can’t seem to let this go EITHER. I’m so tired of these assholes saying they’re COMPASSIONATE when they’re not.
Replay the new B-52’s song after sending your email to keep the Friday Mood going! I did. LOL
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTR0M14ojVI Here’s a catchy song, put to a slideshow of pics from the movie Death Proof
In response to Donita Sparks @ 9
Finifinito did good work on your website …and your Wikipedia bio. Click on history and see what info he is credited with.
In response to tw3k @ 13
Good one. :)
In response to egregious @ 21
No, I meant the one by Donita.
In response to Donita Sparks @ 22
Yes, I’m German. And I’m flattered you remembered something about me. :-)
I have a little problem understanding the middle part of the chorus and parts of the second stanza. That’s bothering me, as I’d like to sing along in my car.
Are you up to your “All About Eve” shennanegans again?
That is a catchy tune, huh? From the comments, it appears it’s a remake. I had never heard it until now which is not surprising. LOL
LOL…uh no…(hides)
Right on to you for posting this. Cruelty is so ugly. He must be an extremely miserable person.
If anyone is in the area the Athens Human Rights Festival is this weekend, right at Hot Corners!
I was hiking with my friends through the forests as we do every year on Ascension day. On of my friends told about his neighbor, a 19year old girl who killed herself two weeks ago. He didn’t really know her, although they had been neighbors all the time. He felt really bad about it and asked himself, if things could have been done to prevent this.
Hot Corner is a real place? I thought it was like a cruising/hustling metaphor. Maybe both.
I’m really digging this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=oy0ZBtnloBM
It’s the corner where the Morton Theater . It was the African American business center and still has the barber shop and Wilson’s Soul Food. The Manhattan, hipster central, is in between. You know where the 40 Watt is? It’s the intersection right up from there.
That Gary Numan song was covered by NIN and Marilyn Manson some time ago. Very cool cover of it.
Morton Link
hot hot hot
In 1980, using a combination of state and federal funds, the building was purchased by the nonprofit Morton Theatre Corporation. Local bands such as Dreams So Real, The B-52’s and R.E.M. occasionally used the building for rehearsal space and filming music videos.
Give Donita a nice DIGG for her great line up of tunes !!
Thanks Donita. Howie Carr and others like him are so ugly on the inside. They make my skin crawl. His listeners were furious with him too for being such a pathetic miserable hateful person and then acting like HE was the victim in all this.
He can screw off. He just had problems with renewing his contract and it had to do with HIS SHOW. He’s hateful…sometimes as worse as Rush Limbaugh and that’s because Howie makes everything into a joke, whereas, Limbo has zero personality and just isn’t funny. Well, neither of them are funny!
*kicking tin bucket down the stairs*
Maya Angelou once said, “I want to see some peace” (she said it to George Bush LOL). I couldn’t agree more.
Thanks for doing that! I can Digg it!
Allen’s was about 2 blocks from our house until they closed. They re-opened this year in a new location.
Got it, cool. Thanks.
I love old theaters, a few years ago I tried to renovate a historic theater in an artsty section of Indianapolis. It didnt work out for me but the project is still being carried on at the The Irving in Indy.
C4nz yoooooosssuuuuuuee Digg eeeeiiiiittt!
No problem finito, we gotta help out where we can:>)
Sure, I miss your Friday afternoon slot but I’m glad when I get’s to check in.
Bad linky try this one
I love that song. Makes me teary eyed sometimes.
Yea, I remember seeing the Dead in the Fox in St Louis in 72. . .damn!
This one too:
A friend of mine recommended the latest album of punk rock band “Die Ärzte”, which is titled “Jazz ist anders” (Jazz is different). I read it’s not so strong on the compositions, while the lyrics are top as usual. The unique wit and homour - you guys who don’t understand German are really missing out on something here.
The creativity starts with the packing. The CD comes in a Pizza box. There’s also an economy version of the album, with the songs are recorded under live conditions with improvised lyrics. The cover of the economy version is drawn badly and the pizza carton made out of cheaper paper. The economy songs themselves can be downloaded for free (legally) from the official website.
I saw Springsteen last Friday night, first time I’ve seen him with E Street. Damn, for someone 2 months older than me the man rocks!
Donita, Fini, anything about the T-shirt/CD package from CASH? :(
HEY, WAIT A MINUTE. What about MY band’s record?
Check out Jagger in “Shine a Light”. The man can still move like no other.
and since this is a music thread, here’s ben harper.
Oh shoot! I’ll get that to you this week. Does fini have your email address?
I will remind Donita to check in with Jesse at CASH, I will keep on this this weekend till we get it fixed. I am so sorry about that Thor.
I have it, I will send it to you again.
Oh please give me a clue on the fourth line in the chorus. I’m also not quite sure on the third line. Is it “You’re flashing through my mind” or did I get that horribly wrong? :-S
Donita, Fini — don’t worry about it. I was more worried that you had gone and signed a CD and sent a Tshirt and it just didn’t reach me! It’s truly comforting to know that it’s not lost :)
Ok People, I’m off to replenish my precious bodily fluids. Have a great weekend.
Buh bye! (royal wave) I’m out too folks, see you next week!
Bye till next week.
Bye Donita!! Have a good night!
See ya Fini!
So they left us.
…do you happen to know the lyrics to Creampuff?
D’oh! thx :)
No, I’m horrible with figuring out what lyrics are without looking em up :(
Saw them on my 16th IN Chicago, 1965!
The Spin?
Dare Dare by Donita Sparks and the Stellar Moments!
NO JOKE!
(Loooooove B-52’s, too).
This is the spin I’m in.
