Would Wright have Obama campaign as an angry black man? That’s one of Obama’s bigger problems, his white audience wondering whether under the calm exterior there’s an angry black man. Do not misunderstand. I am not one who thinks everything the US does is wonderful just because the US does it. I also think there’s a better than average chance the AIDs virus was born in a DOD lab someplace. I don’t doubt there’s lots of manufactured germs ready to be trotted out-talk about weapons of mass destruction, but Wright, by bringing this up hurt rather than helped Obama. I know this sounds hypocritical, but you can’t let everything hang out in a campaign. You have to consider the voter’s perceptions and prejudices. Wright knew he damaged Obama (and this has nothing to do with his church) and he did it anyhow. I see that as destructive and irresponsible.

There doesn’t seem to be any greater priority for this administration than to get Dick Cheney and the other criminals in the Bush administration retroactive immunity for themselves and their teleco cohorts on their way out the door.

Well of course! It’s not like there are any issues more important in America right now.

If i’m not mistaken marty leederman said that absolutly no comprimise on anything until these olc issues about torture,
fisa and all the other “opinions” are resolved.It’s an exellent platform to work from.These olc opinions are at the center of everything that’s wrong here.They have enabled the admin. to circumvent the constitution in so many ways.If these capabilities are not stopped we might as well throw in the towel.

The telecoms cannot be allowed to get immunity for violating the law. If they get the immunity, we will never find out what was and what was done under the guise of national security. Time to contact the House members who may be tempted to cave in. Isn’t Rockefeller an Obama backer. Maybe we need to email the Obama campaign and remind them of what their supporter is trying to do.

I need to say, that there is so much going on now in Bu$h’s final days (while I need to work around the LIFE I have going on now, which is IN MAJOR TRANSITION WITH ISSUES) and msm, who I USED to count on for quick updates throughout the day is useless,I am struggling to keep up.

But I’ll say THIS about THAT. No friggin’ way am I going to let life come in the way of battling this FISA con. I’ve put in tooooo many hours on this one to let this happen. I’ve earned a FEW Congressional paychecks for my time on this one issue! And they will never pay me, but I guess what I am trying to say, is that I am INVESTED here, to a huge extent.

Time to take a day off, get the FAX’s and emails and phone calls going again, and turn this place into a little teeniny tiny PAC (personal action constituent) and stop the chit AGAIN!

what was his point?

could it possibly be that he is motivated to speak out now by the same things that have motivated his entire life as a prophetic preacher?

could it possibly be that he thinks the black church is under attack and sees it is as his calling to defend it?

jesus fucking christ - could it be about anything other than obama?

have you listened to his sermons? do you get the impression that there are things he cares about that have nothing to do with electoral politics?

What’s wrong with what Digby wrote? If Wright was not out to hurt Obama, what was his point?

As for what to do about FISA, we can try to work with our representatives, run primaries everywhere or almost everywhere, or we can explore ways to exert power ourselves. I don’t mean general strikes, but it has to be something to demonstrate we the people can work together. Unfortunately we could not stop going to movies to support the writers.

Wrote a very strong email to Schumer(yes, I realize), Clinton and Mike Arcuri. Mike used to be a prosecutor – he understands how crucial this is. He’s a freshman congressman and has been targeted, but I told him to hold his head up and do the right thing so that all the rats don’t escape down their holes after the election and leave us with our phones tapped, our emails read, and the knock at the door at 3 a.m.

i pretty much agree on the bs part. but i don’t think i could live with myself if i didn’t try… and while today i’m pretty down, other days i see things that give me hope.

so, the question really isn’t if i want to act - it’s more about trying to learn from past mistakes (my own especially).
