Don’t worry Ted the dynamics of an election where everyone is paying attention for once suggest huge voter backlash for Hilary.
The only problem I see is that there is so many reasons for voter backlash that the MSM will try to spin it their way.
I expect they will claim Hilary never connected with regular people because of her attitude which the MSM helped caused the negative image of in the first place not that they will mention that.
Hilary’s position on defending her war vote for so long was her first mistake.
Reaching out to the 30%ers instead of shoring up her base is her next mistake. Tricky Dick himself said Presidential Candidates should run to the extremes of their base in the Primary and then move toward the center.
Hilary and Penn instead have decided to Sister Souljah Us the Net Roots, demonize African American Preachers while giving White Preachers a pass? and now Hilary seems to have no trouble pissing of the Gay vote.
I assume that she is saving pissing off Hispanics for the General Election. Politics is supposed to be about addition not subtraction.
Then there is of course the fact that both her and Obama are to the right of the country on the issues.

The gays in our country are hurt by certain words because of their own experiences and history with certain words. This goes for the blacks in our country too. They too react when certain words are used. If the Governor of NC doesn’t apologize for using the term ‘pansy’ then we can assume Hillary does feel the same way, especially if she’s not pushing for him to apologize.

Whom do we know has spent eight years in the White House never apologizing for anything? Americans want to see other Americans having a conscience again where they don’t find excuses for what they do, but rather, apologize when it’s warranted.

In the Apologizing/Taking Responsibility Category, so far: Obama 100, Hillary 0, McCain 0, Governor Easley 0.

These Elite led societies break down when problems in the society whether internal or external get so bad that the divisions in a society breakdown and people are united in a common cause.
A cause opposed by their Elite rulers.
The war is just the straw that broke the Camels back. Living Standards that have been in decline since the 70’s! How many voters today remember the 70’s?
A lack of National Healthcare for everyone McCain says other nations healthcare is worse than ours GOP lies are not being believed in an election where faith itself is questioned. We have a murder rate that rivals war zones. We imprison more people than commie Russia or White South Africa ever did.
We can choose to change, break, or be reduced in status but the Status Quo cannot stand, just look at Bear Stearns and company the Status Quo has already failed. The Elites are nothing without their money its where their heart/power lies.

Well that is certainly what they think but the next question is is it advantageous to a society to have such elites/disparities of wealth?
Lets compare FDR level taxes on the rich and what he left our country besides Herbert Hoover’s record of lazzie Faire economics.
I think the Lefty way means more wealth for everyone as everyone feels better motivated by bigger slices of the pie for more people.

Elliot, I honestly don’t believe the “guy having sex with monkeys” theory. To me, this is just one more way of the republicans denouncing the gays by saying they have “sinful” sex and having sex with monkeys is just one more thing these “heathens” do.

South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission has heard further details of alleged dirty tricks involving the use of biological and chemical warfare during the apartheid era.

The commission has also released a government document from 1986 which recommended that Nelson Mandela should be released from jail only after he became too physically weak to pose a political threat to the apartheid regime.

Schalk van Rensburg, a researcher at the laboratories producing the weapons, told the hearing that it was his understanding that toxins would be used to induce brain damage in Mr Mandela.

The commission was also told of projects carried out at the laboratories where toxins, bacteria and lethal chemicals were concocted for use against political opponents.

The products included cigarettes dipped in the deadly anthrax bacteria and chocolates poisoned with cyanide.

The commission heard evidence that anthrax and cholera had been used to kill numbers of anti-apartheid activists inside and outside South Africa.

A commission member told the BBC that the South African Defence Forces had used cholera extensively in Angola, and that anthrax had been used to infect the food of three Russian advisers in Zimbabwe, one of whom had died as a result.

There’s no question that “pansy” is a gay slur. Easley was wrong, stupid and insensitive to use it.

Gay-baiting, however, it wasn’t. This implies he was intentionally trying to stir up some kind of issue about gays. Surely you don’t believe this, and realize this must have been the last thing on his mind?

BTW, I’ve always thought it funny that the word “pansy” meant “weak.” Every gardener knows it’s the last flower you plant in fall and the first flower you plant in spring because it’s tougher than any other.

Good morning pups. I’m tired, too. I’ve been getting this sinking sensation the last time I went to Italy to give a series of lectures (leaving for Rome again on May 6) and watched Gore’s campaign implode in the early weeks of October. Despite the arithmetic, Barack’s blitzkrieg seems stuck in spring mud. I hope it’s not true. It means the MSM and the Washington circuit beat us again. Horrible way to start the morning. I’m going to bury my head in work and pretend it’s not happening.

I have no love lost for my do-nothing outgoing governor…but there is absolutely no reason to believe he was baiting gays with his remarks. There is nothing in the context of those remarks or in his history to suggest that gays were anywhere on his mind when he made his remarks. This diary is itself an unsupported slur and the author should apologize. In my opinion.

I don’t know if Gov. Easley’s endorsement ran live on tv in Raleigh. I do know that after I read what he said on
the internet I watched the local news on Channel 11 which I believe is ABC and of course only one sentence of
Easley’s speech was played; so the local news reported less than news. The Raleigh News & Observer has an article on the endorsement and the pansy comment is the last sentence in an article that is on pages 1 and 4 of the second section of the paper. I doubt many people read the whole article.

They are both going against a morally bankrupt and mentally deficient Bush-McCain duo. Does that count?

Robert Reich was all over this proposal this am. Really bad idea. What it will do is cause us to buy more gas and then have a bigger shortage. It has no conservation relevance at all. He was really good in an NPR commentary. I am guessing that Clinton had not asked his opinion.
