hey things, how are ya tonight
We need to steal more from the Bible to reach people!
still a lil too warm for me to sleep yet. how is everyone tonight?
that will help with those who are bible types.
whatcha got for those who are not?
I’m not chear about what you’re up to here. Are you pro or con on this new bible? I think I know, I just don’t want to assume anything…
Here is an update on the Blackwater’s attempt to build a training facility in San Diego!
I’m fine I’m just embarrassed that I can’t think of anyother Bible verses.
Quote of the day via Frank Rich:
there’s always john 3:16.. ya see that one at football and baseball games a lot
Jesus wept.
That just says it all.
Wow, Suzanne.
Just wow.
nahant, I’m glad you have the digg situation under control.
Digg gave me a hard time tonight. I had to quit when I could neither see nor hear the magic letters.
But I did digg your digg.
thank you teddy. i thought so too. left me forking speechless when it was over
I’m all for trying to get the Bible in the Campaign more its good Lit powerful words and everybody is familiar with it already.
Plus I’m sick of the GOP perverting the Bible. Sure I disagree with the Church but I’m onboard with about 90% of the message.
And, who’s going to inherit the earth? Perhaps the uneradicatable life forms like cockroaches and gonorrhea?
Hey, I’m just here…
He is still weeping what with the way his preaching and tenets have been twisted to fit those who wish to use his name to their own ends…
Good Neuro… I tries to help out when I can :>)
what kinda problems, dood?
Margot- interesting. I actually heard that one first when I was living in the UK. Even in pub conversation. Someone would be upset about something, shake their head and say “Jesus wept”. I can’t quite explain, but what they were saying was basically “this is totally f*d”. Quite a different use than here.
It says in there somewhere that you shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
We might want to quote that one to the next wingnut who says Obama is a Muslim.
Not that there is anything wrong with being a Muslim, but in his case he’s not, and the accusation hurts him.
I try to talk about Sun Tze should I expand my repertoire? Maybe “The History of the Pelaponesian War”
yeap, and jesus said blessed are the peacemakers
Been quite the week. Some ups, some downs, mostly ups for me. Going to go take a tub bath with m’lady in just a bit. Another up.
Cool video, best new song I’ve listened to lately.
Leaving California on Tuesday for a few days visit to mom in Ogden, UT. Never been there before. We’ll be seeking out some light entertainment (Mom’s 79), hopefully some good music we can both enjoy. I’m not looking forward to flying, though. TSA scares me, for no good reason I suppose, but scares me anyway.
Worst part: no blogging for five days. Best part: I’m giving up my cigars and alcohol for the duration of the trip, and have already donated the money saved to Obama’s campaign.
No that would be the GOP so far we have been the very meek. But there does come a point after the 777 hit where patience is ended and I’m sure Bush has gone way over the 777 limit.
Perfect we need some Bible based talking points.
that is surely a mixed bag of the good, the bad, and the blogless.
turn the other cheek is another ignored one of his sayings. just start at the beginning of the new testament and search ‘jesus said’
The meek will inherit what’s left after the bold have taken their share.
When that happens to me I hit submit and the page reloads (with all other entered info intact) showing the magic letters.
howdy suzanne
hey tex.. whatcha got going on this week
Best luck! Take good care.
The only part of that video I’d dispute is the clips of the guy with the beard, the army doesn’t allow beards… The tune was awesome…!
I miss the anti war songs of the 70’s
two fold reasons why there aren’t too many of themy;
1) there is no draft and nobody thinks they’ll be next
and
b) the media is corporate sponsored and will not play the songs
The meek will inherit what’s left after the bold have taken more than their share.
A friendly edit :)
ya’ll were bitching last week in late late nite that there were no good protest songs out now.
i just showed you one.

16″For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
God sent his only son but Bush won’t even send one Bush Twin to Iraq, does Bush think that he is greater than God? Does he think we should sacrifice while he risks nothing?
administering tests tomorrow. proctoring tests T W F. the new spine procedure is THurs
Cheney’s Toy sums it up beautifully…!
Yeah, I’ve read it used like that in books by British authors.
That’s kind of how I meant it, now that I think about it. It’s totally f’d up and it’s so sad, he would weep.
So much misery.
I updated my post on the new cat, read that first.
Then, some people were asking for pictures.
And it is an amazing one at that Suz!!! :>) Thanks!!
mcmurtry’s new cd is full of similar progressive songs. check out his web site (link in post)
it’s a real good one too, but the question suzanne, why are they not heard
see my 46
the reason there aren’t good war songs out is that there are but they don’t become popular like when we were faced with a draft and when the media was more concerned about playing popular songs then they were about satisfying their corporate sponsors
what a cutie busted… bailey gives an approving purr
Heh, you are evil…
clear channel ownes how many radio stations?
I haven’t seen the cute part since last night, just fangs.
the fangs is what i fear bailey was saying were ‘cute’

When Ahab confronts Elijah, he refers to him as the “troubler of Israel.” Elijah responds by throwing the charge back at Ahab, saying that it is Ahab who has troubled Israel by allowing the worship of false gods. Elijah then berates both the people of Israel and Ahab for their acquiescence in Baal worship. “How long will you go limping with two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal then follow him” (1 Kings 18:21). And the people were silent.
At this point Elijah proposes a test of the powers of Baal and Yahweh the God of Israel. The people of Israel, 450 prophets of Baal, and 400 prophets of Asherah are summoned to Mount Carmel. Two altars are built, one for Baal and one for Yahweh. Wood is laid on the altars. Two oxen are slaughtered and cut into pieces; the pieces are laid on the wood. Elijah then invites the priests of Baal to pray for fire to light the sacrifice. They pray from morning to noon without success. Elijah ridicules their efforts. They respond by cutting themselves and adding their own blood to the sacrifice. They continue praying until evening without success.
Elijah now orders that the altar of Yahweh, and its sacrifice, be drenched with water (twelve barrels of water). He asks God to accept the sacrifice. Fire falls from the sky, igniting the sacrifice. The people who witness this immediately begin worshiping Yahweh. Elijah seizes the moment and orders the death of the prophets of Baal. This episode ends with the return of rains to Israel, signaling the end of the famine.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elijah
The next time some looser Preacher says 9/11 and Katrina are punishments from God the Next time some Preacher calls the Catholic Church the “Great Whore ” or insults Islam we challenge the preacher to Elijah’s test RIGHT THEN RIGHT THERE with the same consequences that the prophets of Baal faced!
she’s come out when she’s hungry enough. bailey hid behind my fridge for 3 days when i got her. finally had to pull the dayam thing away from the wall and she ran (first) for the litter box and (second) food and water.
after that, we had us an understanding
boa noite wobbly
It’s bedtime, yay, I get to sleep with one eye open.
Updates as I get ‘em.
Gnite.
i tend to stick with new testament for the simple reason i’ve run into some who think the old testament is inferior to the new testament and replaces it.
I think the Neo-Cons interpret this as “The meek will inherit a 3′x7′ plot of ground…we’ll make sure that nothing else is taken with them”
g’nite busted

I don’t know where to find stuff like that, Suzanne…
They don’t play it on the radio, do they?
no such thang as off topic at late late nite margot
Not so traditional, but it will do.
i find most of it on my local radio station, kpig. they are available online (the first to stream live) and are an independent station with real dj’s who actually select the music they wanna hear and take requests.
Well, most of us grew up on “underground FM radio” which was so niche that it could survive on ads from a few head-shops, motorcycle dealers and waterbed stores. The stations didn’t cost much and the staffs were paid a bit over minimum wage…when you included their ad sales commissions.
But that’s what college students started listening to, and where the antiwar songs were. There ARE some great antiwar songs out there (lots if you are into punk rock…”American Idiot” won a Grammy)…but Clear Channel has generally kept these off the air.
Wanna hear some great antiwar stuff (Americana like McMurtry) or stuff by Elvis Costello or Billy Bragg check out KDVS which you can download on streaming digital for free (including an archive of older shows if you like certain programs).
They also have Amy Goodman and lots of other progressive shows (including stuff on sustainable farming, science, technology, literature, etc.).
They are at the end of their annual fundraiser and still have some nifty premiums (like an original Rex Babin cartoon entitled “The Clash On Iraq”) available.
Well, I shall bow out early tonite! I bid ya’ll a fond adieu! Aloha Oe!!!
Yeah good catch Suz whats your secret an FDL approved secret radio station?
aloha ct
kpig
thanks, suzanne and cinnamonape
I bookmarked those 2 stations, will give them a listen
I tend to forget that I can use my PC as a radio and do not have to be limited to my local stations.
One more reason I am surprised boosh has not shut us down yet.
Thanks bookmarked
IIRC KPIG is an offshoot of KTAO in Los Gatos, which was an offshoot of KRAB in Seattle, parent station of the KRAB nebula, that included KRAB in Seattle, KBOO in Portland OR, KDNA in St. Louis and a statio in Houston. I started working at KRAB in 1970, moving from KRAB to KLAM in Alaska, in 1973. KLAM was AM, though.
Oldtime community radio was killed by the NPR paradigm. But we’re here, unless they fuck us over again. I doubt it, though. Everyone has synergy with the web we couldn’t have had then. In 1970, that is….
Hello ET. Any signs of spring yet?
hey et
kpig came out of kfat. laura ellen was the one who started kpig when kfat went out of business. i think laura ellen was involved in the creation of kfat but i’m not 100% on that.
doncha love it “kfat came out of kpig,” and “moving from KRAB to KLAM.”
i think this is where they all started
Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

This goes into the Bush is the anitchrist theory which I don’t believe because Bush is to dumb but I could be wrong.
where ya gotta hit them is with the jesus saids… they can not argue against those
For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Sounds like every hateful GOP TV Preacher I’ve ever heard. I always hear them talk about whats wrong never about what we should do to get to heaven or why we should want to go there.
a good one for those who are being judgemental, things, is js: let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
True are you suggesting Jesus attack points?
Oh, that’s so nice to see again. Thanks, Suz.
use jesus said to counter attack their talking points.
you are most welcome, margot. that was a great forking show
I think you are this is a great thought exercise! What would Jesus say if he were to campaign for President?
Joe 3:16: “Jesus clutched his pearls.”
i like what would jesus say about those running for president?
hehehehehe how goes it dood? you still down in la area?
Jesus said For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Wonder what he would say about the Chimp claiming he talks to GOD?
Jesus Wept?
shortest verse in the bible per wiki
Yep. Sweating to the oldies.
sorry, that should have been shortest verse in new testament, not bible.
Reuters 4:27: Miley flashed.
I am no Bible expert, but isn’t there something about casting the money-lenders (usurers?) out of the temple? Uh, sorry it I have the context wrong.
I’d take a job at KJFC…
gasp? hannah montana?
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places
Rumors of war who haven’t we threatened with war? Nation rise against Nation? no its just us against EVERYBODY!
Famine Bush is working on it by turning corn into ethanol while the world starves. Pestilence well something is making the bees sick which will cause more famine.
But Earthquakes I think Bush is innocent of that.
mayhem is coming
Yup. Best of both worlds: Churchgoing virgin and pubescent sexpot.
Marketing gold.
i can see preteen girls in tears nationwide as their mom’s and dad’s order all hannah montana stuff purged from their rooms.
No your right its a good one!
They will be ordering Miley Cyrus satin sheets.
yes, you have it right. i’m no bible scholar either but i know you are right, that was one of his acts.
Suz- thanks for the wiki link, which also included what I was trying to say earlier:
~~In some places in the western English-speaking world, including the UK, Ireland (particularly Dublin) and Australia, the phrase “Jesus wept” is a common expletive, curse or minced oath spoken when something goes wrong or to express mild incredulity.~~
I Never Knew You
Well then, seems like a pretty apt Presidential campaign point. Mortgage crisis and all.
i like how it points out that they were arguing with him – had not heard it that way before. thanks
Matt 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Sounds like the GOP is not going to heaven. I might not go there myself but at least I am not lying to myself.
It is from a rather hellfire and brimstone source, sorry about that sincerely. It was one that was not in King James Version and it was at the top of the page, so I went with it.
I always liked these billboards.

Hi, S. Hiya, pups.

hey db
The narrative of Jesus and the Money Changers occurs in both the Synoptic Gospels and in the Gospel of John, although it occurs close to the end of the Synoptic Gospels (at Mark 11:15–19, 11:27–33, Matthew 21:12–17, 21:23–27 and Luke 19:45–48, 20:1–8) but close to the start in John (at John 2:12–25) and as a result some biblical scholars think there may have been two incidents. In the episode, Jesus is stated to have visited the Temple in Jerusalem, Herod’s Temple, at which the courtyard is described as being filled with livestock and the tables of the money changers, who changed the standard Greek and Roman money for Jewish and Tyrian money, which were the only coinage that could be used in Temple ceremonies. According to the Gospels, Jesus took offense to this, and so, creating a whip from some cords, drives out the livestock, scatters the coins of the money changers, and turns over their tables, and those of the people selling doves.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J…..y_Changers
If Jesus did this today on WallStreet today does anyone doubt that Bush would call him a terrorist? Of course the Federal Reserve using my tax dollars to bailout Bear Stearns is the bigger crime in my opinion.
