Well, I just heard a Rush rant on McC for not being a Conservative, then his being critical of the NC ad. Rush really hot that MC can be a Maverick, but not OK for others to be…..
Then I got a clue where all the cult language may be coming from. He called being cult, having a Messiah is cult of personality that does not go with being a Repub. Sounded awfully familiar accusing the opponents of being a cult. Just wondering….

OT, but it strikes at McCain’s “My wife’s a multi-millionaire and I have a government pension and healthcare, but you folks should stand on your own two, well, one, foot” hypocrisy. The same hypocrisy, with a few twists, that’s now infecting Chuck Schumer. Following is the gist of a note to my CongressCritter about Schumer’s claim that “America isn’t ready” for a national healthcare system.

As you know better than most of your Senate colleagues, Sen. Schumer’s recent claim that “America isn’t ready for a national healthcare system” is false.

It misleads on the facts, which are dire, and misleads on the state of public opinion. His comment caters to his insurance company donors whose profits are inversely proportional to the care they permit. It caters to wealthy conservative voices on the other side of the aisle who think that illness, like Hurricane Katrina, is an expression of God’s wrath rather than a preventable harm.

If Sen. Schumer’s claim is true, then members of Congress should be the first to give up their fully-paid, government-provided healthcare and pensions. I hear no rustle of volunteers to draft legislation to make it so.

It is time that Congress cast aside its Vichy-like willingness to say “Yes” to the president and “No” to its constituents. The latter have to pay for all government expenses, especially as the wealthy among them no longer pay their fair share of taxes. Their voices should be heard and acted upon as a priority, not as a regrettable, once-every-two-years marketing problem. I know you share that view. Thank you.

Sen. Schumer’s comments read as if Karl Rove is advising him, too. They’re a great way to turn away progressives in the fall and to cater to conservatives who would never vote for Schumer’s priorities even if he used as much Chapstick as Joey Lieberman.

yeah- it’s a problem- and govt. should probably do something to offset the costs for low income people- but in the end, cost increases are the only way to solve this problem. They will either come from well thought out govt. action- or through the vagaries of the oil market.

Let’s see how McCain and the Repugs handle this … Sadr instructs his followers to wage open war against the Americans …

I am going to say a prayer for my nephew and all the troops stuck in this quagmire … Congress has failed them once again …

The only problem with that is the credit market. Lots of folks in credit card debt are stuck with the gas guzzlers not because they want to continue to drive it, but because they don’t have the ability to finance another car.
