I almost lost the tip of my left middle finger in the landing gear of a C-130. Severed the top tendon and a few of the blood vessels, not a pretty sight. They did some creative reconstruction, which included the use of a drill and a button on the bottom side of the finger, but if it weren’t for the permanent crook in the finger and a few extra scars, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

The bright side of it (besides getting to keep the tip) was getting to show people the splint on my finger any time they asked how it was. I always exhibited it extended in the vertical position with all the other fingers curled out of the way, of course. :)

WASHINGTON – Iraq and Afghanistan veterans: Get ready for a phone call.

The Department of Veterans Affairs said Thursday that on May 1 it will start calling 570,000 recent combat veterans to make sure they know what services are available to them.

The first calls will go to about 17,000 veterans who were sick or injured while serving in the wars. If they don’t have a care manager, the VA says they will be given one.

The next round of calls will target 555,000 veterans from the wars who have been discharged from active duty, but have not reached out to the VA for services. For five years after their discharge from the military, Iraq and Afghanistan veterans have access to health care at the VA

In fact it means that we would have to pay the war debt with interest.
Debt plus interest is > greater than debt alone.
Plus we should tell the Neocons that China will probably want something in return for all buying all this debt like Taiwan.
Taiwan would be a bank fee for loaning us the money China of course will still want the money, plus all the nice weapons we sold Taiwan over the years.

ok, so bruce springsteen had just come off his “born in the u.s.a” tour and had officially reached the status of “superstar”. the fact neil got him to perform at the show was huge. bruce’s parents lived on the peninsula, so he flew in early and arranged to do his soundcheck the night before.

all the staff were given stern warnings that the soundheck was closed, and not a soul was allowed backstage or anywhere in the seating area until bruce had come and gone.

sooo, we’re upstairs madly stuffing ticket envelopes when through the open door came…that voice. “test, test. one two. i’m driving in my car…”

my friend and i lock eyes. “uhm, we have to go the bathroom”. we sneak out the door, sneak across the dark concourse, falling onto our stomachs to avoid the head of security whizzing by in his golf course. from there we crawled on our bellies into the seating area and lay flat, basking in bruce.

then a flashlight in our face. “hey, you’re not supposed to be in here!”. bam, we were out of there and back in the office in nothing flat where we were greeted by a round of skeptical looks for our 15 minute pee break.

Ashcroft: “‘Pouring’! ‘Pouring’! Did you hear what she said?: ‘Putting a cloth over someone’s face and pouring water on them.’ That’s not what you said before! Read that again, what you said before [about the Asano case]!”

Elsinora: “‘The victim was bound or otherwise secured in a prone position; and water was forced through his mouth and nostrils into his lungs and stomach.’”

Ashcroft: “You hear that? You hear it? ‘Forced’! If you can’t tell the difference between forcing and pouring. . . . Does this college have an anatomy class? If you can’t tell the difference between forcing and pouring. . . . ”

My kids are into new Alter-punk. They are very aware and the war,and social situations are constant in the songs. More so than any other music venue now popular.
I’m starting to really appreciate their music.
Maybe because we all travel to major protests together and I’m being forced to really listen to their music. I actually prefer a lot of “their” music to listening to the same old songs over and over.

I wonder if McClinton isn’t sendin’ signals out that she wants to deal. I wonder if she isn’t holdin’ out for a Supreme Court nomination, Attorney General or even Veep. This entire childish game she’s playin’ makes no sense unless she is stupid, a fascist tool or wants to salvage something of her ambition before she goes down for the count. I will never say she’s stupid, I do think she is beholdin’ to some big corporate donors and I know she’s ambitious so maybe Indiana and North Carolina will be the end of it if Obama does well enough and she ken broker a face-saver. She’ll pretend ta bow out gracefully in return for a visable spot in the new administration.

Well, for me the answer is to just make sure we keep the pressure on so she can’t make any of those choices.
She’s burned her bridges. The only ones left are her used-to-be- Goldwater folks. The people who hate Democratic policies and can’t stand neo-cons. She’s a New Republican with a social message.
Basically, she can piss off!!! What do the families in Iran think after her heartwarming message to them? How can we make them feel less threatened?
