Radiohead – House Of Cards
McClatchy’s Middle East blog has a post up in honor of news stringers and a photo which says much about what both the Iraqi’s and stringers must endure these days.
What’s on your mind tonight?
zed?
Eureka!
Hi ES, I’m thinking that maybe some troops will do the reporting since they are seriously ticked that sleepy iraqis get credit for their hazardous duty…aint’ that a kick in the butt?
Good evening, neurophius.
g’evening, eureka
I should add that I am not slurring the iraqis, only the proponents of the unending propoganda ad nauseum.
Surprised it doesn’t happen more often.
BTW, if folks venture over to the ME blog, be sure and double click on the photo for better viewing.
Good evening, Suz. Missed ya this week..
I only caught that story of angry troops in passing and wondered how it “got out”.
Yes, the photo is powerful.
twas good to get some down time, eureka.
Sorry, EPU’d:
Loohoo:
Support is the last thing W is worried about. They’re all there to make sure Cheney and W come out of their putsch unscated and glorious. She’ll happily take the fall if W doesn’t sign an open letter of pardon for her.
Hi ES. Saw Radiohead, in early 2000, give a mind blowing performance in Montréal. Under the stars, with a view of downtown…
Would be a lot easier to venture a guess about Condi’s behavior if we could just see her behavior under OATH!
Do you really believe she would say the truth??? I think that every single one of these folks working at the pleasure of the W, would lie their soul out. Just because…
For those firedogs who remember me talking about floods in ES.. well the water levels have hardly dropped at all and we are in the midst of flooding rains again. Not good.
Good evening ES. I did a little digging for ya!
I think putting Condi under oath would be kind of like throwing a bucket of water on the Wicked Witch of the West. She would melt before your eyes.
Thanks nahant, always the gentleman digger..)
Not Radiohead, but a nice sunset during a blues fest.
We try :>)
Damn, I was going to ask you about that. Keep safe.
This is not the way to win the hearts and minds…
We’re at the top of the watershed (so I am safe).. That photo is below the highest dam in the region and running over four more damns ranging from 1100 to 750 feet high..
FBI Director Mueller say he pulled out FBI agents from interrogations and Warned the CIA and Pentagon That What They Were Doing Was Illegal
I got this email from congressman Wexler today:
If any would like the transcript he included it and I can post it for you.
Nice bridge. Can you imagine if a dam burts???
In 96, a dam burst on the saguenay river, and a part of the city of Chicoutimi was wiped out. A week later, I was in Tadoussac, watching refrigirators float by.
UN walkout over Gaza ‘Nazi’ remarks
excellent musical selection, ES. I’ve been wearing out that new Radiohead disk.
Late Night, Right? I came across this “funny” story of self-fulfilling mass-hysteria (I can say that, right…this story deals with MEN!) which shows just how easily an irrational idea can spread.
Penis Shrinkage Panic Strikes City
I especially like the problem that the guys who think they are affected can’t get erections, because they are so stressed out that they can’t get erections.
Hey!…Can someone start this rumor at the RNC Convention? Or would it really matter?
I think a more apt comparison is apartheid in South Africa, but…
spew
A whole lot of folks have already found out why they cannot find an insurance company who will sell them flood ins.. And they are constantly doing patchwork on these dams as it is.
But there’s a slight matter of executive privilege, which would free Condi from testifying under oath or testifying at all in fact. But, executive privilege disappears in an impeachment inquiry. HINT. FUCKING. HINT.
This is fascinating…
More on Wexler at Kos:linky
How dare Libya make such an inapt comparison! The actually parallel is to the Jewish ghettos established in Warsaw and many other Eastern European cities…not Concentration camps!
Couldn’t agree more… The same thing they’re trying to do with Sadr City these days…!
Exactly! And phrasing it that way would have put him in the good company of Jimmy Carter, and a large number of eloquent, sensitive Israelis. Why blow it?
I don’t know much about radiohead.. but you know I am a sucker for your high praise.. Will check it out.
This old school CD just arrived today.. It’s really good.
Lybia, Dubya… Both dumber than a rock.
I’m outa here.
Bonne nuit tout le monde.
Yo ‘reka, I replied to your myspace message. Masters were delayed leaving Tennessee by a day and a half. Life in the foood chain. May have them tomorrow, more likely Friday.
Aloha, Quebecois!
nite quebecois
That’s the comparison I always think about.
That is what I received from Wexler today…. lets hope it leads to Impeachment proceedings for these bastards…The more we learn the more most people are disgusted,,, now lets also hope Nancy gets off of her dead ass and throws the dam table away and listens to the people of this country… but I doubt even if you held a gun to her head that she would budge….Shirley Golub is running against her in the Dem primary… here is her website http://www.shirley08.com/
Got it, thanks! Will be watching your page.
That would be the West Bank and the Bantustans. These were split up by “nationality”…and usual given puppet leaderships. Israel sort of tried that by encouraging a Hamas – Al Fatah division…but to really pull it off they would need to start giving certain municipalities privileges if local leaders split from Fatah and Hamas and went off in different directions. In exchange they’d be bought off, and protected, with their villages or cities getting first dibbs on work passes, etc. That’s how S.Africa was able to hold onto power for so long. Of course, they also had the help of some pretty hefty Western powers and folks like Reagan and Bush Daddy.
Wonder how McCain voted on all those apartheid bills…probably like his votes on MLK Day.
Whoa…Dana Milbank takes the Pentagon out back behind the woodshed…
Sure.
The shocking attempt he’s pursuing now to polish his US race-relations cred is thunderously disingenuous. So I’m sure if we took a look, we’d find the same worms under his rock wrt apartheid.
finger lickin’ good!
Funky great horns!
late to thread – had to dodge the molluscofowlistiscts on the way home from the oyster bar…(Col Blimp inisted: I wanted to stay home and flay

Galloping gourmet?
damn: molluscofowlicsts.
slimy little terrorists got into my spellcheck
This administration has no respect for our fallen heroes! and McCain voted no to improve their benefits. I don’t know how any one could vote for him especially our soldiers and vets…. sorry bastard. And they say the Democrats don’t care about our soldiers Ya right!
Sorry ES – they had so winded I didn’t even say “hi”.
But in the spirit of Graham Ker: a little wine for the dish…a lot more wine for us!
Hmm…should we say it’s spread by the ventilation system or by hotel sample shampoos/body washes?
And the American people, by and large, actually buy it! It is sickening!
Penis Shrinkage Panic Strikes City
quote of the day:
kirk, is that kinda a reverse placebo effect?
West Texans…get out your tin-foil jockstraps!
This just pisses me off:
As if there were any question about what the right vote for American workers was, look at how endangered Republicans Coleman, Collins, Smith, and Sununu voted. Yup, with the Democrats. The Maverick, however, showed his independence again by not showing up to vote, but had he bothered to be there, he says he’d have voted against it:
“I am all in favor of pay equity for women, but this kind of legislation, as is typical of what’s being proposed by my friends on the other side of the aisle, opens us up to lawsuits for all kinds of problems,” the expected GOP presidential nominee told reporters. “This is government playing a much, much greater role in the business of a private enterprise system.”
One would think that the Senator hadn’t actually read the bill. Of course, if you listened to the Republicans during the floor debate, you’d think none of them had. They would have you believe–as they would on just about any civil rights issue–that it’s about greedy trial lawyers.

You seriously can’t make this shit up…
i think you’ve sized it up nicely
have the wapoo version of that story up in the news box
It’s sometimes called the George Costanza-Syndrome…as opposed to the Bushausen Syndrome by Proxy.

From the CIA article…

The Torture Election: Fighting for the Soul of the American Psychological Association
Except when it comes to making people actually responsible for doing it, that is!
Yeah…lawsuits for problems like…pay equity for women!
F*CKER!
Reversible helmets?
ES, that is great forking news.
We’re gonna see the Bush Reich run out of clinic.
Once again, they would not be able to withhold this stuff from an impeachment inquiry. HINT. FUCKING. HINT. HELLO, NANCY and JOHN.
whose couch? our couch! (this hour)
Impeach a file clerk or something for petes sake!
Good Suz that story needs to be shouted about… the bill is in response to the supreme court denying Lilly Ledbetter case. And the rethuglians say “liberal judges making law from the bench” these wingnut judges are destroying workers rights that were so hard won in the past…. This election is all about the supreme court… they have already set back the middle class years!
I’m nor sure what Gaza compares to most directly in 20th century events. I’ve called the situation there “the Siege of Gazagrad,” comparing it to the German siege of Leningrad during WWII. Essentially, the Germans blockaded a large city for three years, after their attempt to take it by assault failed in the late summer of 1941. The analogy between Gaza and Leningrad is pretty loose, though.
It isn’t Iraeli policy to kill all the people there, but it is Israeli policy to make life all but totally untenable for the inhabitants of Gaza. Hebron is pretty much the same.
It almost sounds like an Indian reservation.
As several of us had alluded, ET, the Warsaw Ghetto is an apt analogy…!
Well on that sad note I will say good night to all you good pups… keep up the fight we must take our country back from these thieves and this next election is only the beginning!
Good NIGHT
folks, off to sleep here….beware the molluscofowliscts….
just published this to the news box

Per wiki…
Well one more entry hot from the email tubz:
nite doctor
Wow.. This is a very bold technique for political ad, imo.. Ron Paul ad which aired in PA.
Graded exams and term papers all day yesterday and today. The weather was beautiful, though. Got up above 60 degrees outside, and up to about 90 in my greenhouse.
Amazing! Great ad!
David Swanson and Elizebeth de la Vega spoke to us here tonighr in SLO Town. She mentioned the dodging that Mr. Mueller did in response the Henry Wexlers questions tonight. As a former 20 year federal prosecutor she smelled he was not coming clean. The dam may be cracking she thinks.
Video tapes were made of the presentation so if you would like to show it to groups in your area e-mail Matt Wedin slo911@email.com and ask for the Impeachment video which was the topic. She had her book which FDL Salon reviewed February 11th, 2008. It was powerful. David’s speech will be up soon at afterdowningstreet.org
Who would have guessed Max Headroom would grow up to be a Libertarian. /s
Quite a stack, ET! The rigors of the Ivory Tower, eh?
Well, I shall bid ya’ll a fond adieu! Aloha Oe!!!
aloha ct
time for me to bail myself, g’nite all
CT – what Ivory tower? I do love those kids, though.
there’s something on my mind – if there are still any Clinton apologists around who liked to explain away HRC’s parroting of Cheney’s right-wing-talking-points”all options are on the table” wrt to the nonexistent ‘threat’from Iran … maybe you could try explaining away “obliterate”?
nite tuttle
nite suzanne. welcome back
Emptywheel had the best post and thread on that subject I could find.
1,823 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEz ON AND ON AND…
Early Mornin’ Firepup Freedom Fighters:
Good mornin’ Firepups…I’m workin’ tanite so I ken only pop in and out. Has anyone seen the Terry McAuliffe TV spot for Fox News? Now let’s look at this for a moment. First off way back when, the McClinton aparachuks tried to set up a Democratic Party primary debate on Fox News usin’ the Black caucus as a front. Then Mrs. McClinton and her husband sit down with Rupert Murdock and pimp up $4million for the clinton library (yeah, sure you betcha). Then Mrs. McClinton gives a big hug to McCain sayin’ he’s more’n qualified ta be president and Obama is….well, not sure. Then McClinton sits down with Richard Scaife and gives him a big smooch in return for…oh, an endorsement, how nice!! And now the head of the McClinton campaign is shillin’ for Fox News!! JEEEzus H. keeeRIST on a God damned crutch…how long before the McClinton supporters around here figure out that she ain’t a Democrat. I’m bettin’ she either pulls a Lieberman and runs as McCrazy’s VP or stailks out of the Denver Convention as an “independant” candidate. And come on, bring some a that “misogynist” shit my way…I surely know what ta do with it!!
Are Citizens Selise and Raven out there tanight…I finished readin’ Hamsher’s post and comments of March 19…I haven’t had so much trouble gettin’ through somethin’ since I tried ta read “Atlas Shrugged”. What the fuck is goin’ on with Sister Jane and Brother Pachacutec…they come off like the leaders of the “Kool Kidz” clique??!!! God I miss brother kiddo and sister Lahoma.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, THERE ARE AGENT PROVOCATEURS AROUND AND ONE OF ‘EM IS RUNNIN’ FOR THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION!!
In the past week, Hillary has spoken words to that effect in televised public appearances, including on Countdown on Monday.
Obviously, nuking Iran is not a high priority with ordinary Americans. And, I doubt that Hillary suddenly wokeup one day and said to herself, “I bet it’d get me a lot of votes to tell people how I’d obliterate Iran if they attacked Israel.” So, who planted the idea, and who are he intended audience?
Obviously, this is neocon and A*P*C talk. Among Hillary’s advisors are Martin Indyk, Director of the Saban Center for Mideast Policy at Brookings. Also, Michael O’Hanlon, an affiliate of the Saban Center. And, Haim Saban, the Saban Center’s founding contributor is a major fund raiser for Hillary. According to Saban: “I’m a one-issue guy and my issue is Israel.” Also “On the issues of security and terrorism I am a total hawk.”
So the Saban Center and their minions in her campaign is a possible avenue for such neocon nonsense to enter into Hillary’s foreign-policy vision. And, again I think her audience is A*P*C and the Serious People in the U.S. Foreign Policy Establishment. What she is trying to do IMHO is please that bunch by guaranteeing Israel’s nuclear monopoly in the region, and perhaps get some cred with the MSM for having more swagger and balls than her competitors.
Ready to be a war criminal on day one.
Right on Sister!!
Interesting theme…but the animation makes Paul look like Pinocchio or maybe an animated “Mr. Lincoln Speaks” from Disneyland. A live version would have been better.
The fact that Paul is still plugging away and got about 10% in Pennsylvanis (and Huckabee got 15%) suggests a real undercurrent of resistance in the Republican ranks. The Democrats outdrew the Republicans overall by 3:1…and one had to be registered as a Democrat to vote in Pennsylvania for the Dems. McCains got the nomination wrapped up yet still there are people coming out to “protest” his ascension.
Not to get overconfident (in fact, voter outreach to bring back those lost supporters would be essential),,,but even if 25% of Hillary’s vote stayed home, and 25% voted for McCain…and he drew across only half her supporters…those numbers would be double what the Republicans drew PLUS the disenchanted Hillary voters.
All along, Democrats have told their candidates to run against McCain and not each other.
Hillary is doing just that, by running to his Right flank.
She seems strangely comfortable there.
Citizen Norske, I’m no sister but you can still call me flower child.
Cinnamonape – According to the official PA results page.. Paul 15.9% and Huckster 11.4..
I agree the GOPers are in deep trouble no matter how they slice it.
What gets me is even the Republican warmongers try and mute their tub-thumping when asked such questions. They’ll say “I can gaurantee that it’ll never reach that situation, we’ll take out their production facilities long before they are able to threaten Israel”…or such.
When Hillary is asked such questions it’s balls-on…full-speed-ahead! “Annihilation! Every man-jack of them, Group Capt. Mandrake!”
Well the flood waters are high.. Time for me to get a little shut eye and try kayaking unchartered waters in the morning..
g’ nite firedogs
nite eureka
be safe and sorta dry
At best, she’s so afraid of looking weak, she forgot what strength is.
Sorry, Citizen ES…I figured since you were intelligent, sensitive and not timid with the snark , you were a SISTER hippie not a misogynist, long haired, commie lovin’ girly-man. Lord won’t we have lotsa fun in the re-education camps (NOT)!!!
Sorry got those results inverted in my noggin…I remembered it was about 25% of the total. As much as the Republicans and the MSM want to suggest that McCain is this big juggernaut…there seems to be a pretty real disenchantment deep within the party ranks. These are folks that aren’t simply staying at home…they are coming out to register a “protest vote”. That’s serious. Who knows what they’ll do in Fall.
Off to Slumberland, too. Goodnight FireDogs!
nite cinnamonape
i’m out, too
