Well, it looks like there are a couple of pro-McCain narratives brewing, one obvious, one maybe not-quite-as-obvious. The obvious one is that yeah, Senator McCain has a temper, but that’s actually a good thing:
Some depict McCain… as an erratic hothead incapable of staying cool in the face of what he views as either disloyalty to him or irrational opposition to his ideas. Others praise a firebrand who is resolute against the forces of greed and gutlessness.
"Does he get angry? Yes," said Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman, a Connecticut independent who supports McCain’s presidential bid. "But it’s never been enough to blur his judgment. . . . If anything, his passion and occasional bursts of anger have made him more effective."
(…)
…McCain declared that voters occasionally want him to vent: "When I see corruption, . . . when I see people misbehaving badly, they expect me to" be angry.
You see? John McCain is simply a very passionate man, who cannot contain his righteous fury at waste, corruption, and bad behavior. You know, like when his wife makes comments about his hair, or a fellow Congressman takes exception to being called "boy," that sort of thing. But this last quote from the WaPo story is my favorite, and segues neatly into the less-obvious narrative:
"You will damn well do this. You will make this a holiday. You’re making us look like fools," he privately exploded two decades ago at a stunned group of Arizona Republicans who opposed creating a state holiday in remembrance of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
That’s right, McCain was outraged by resistance to a Martin Luther King holiday – although, it should be noted, that he seems more exercised by the optics rather than any moral obligation to give a great American his due.
And now there’s this:
[McCain] began the day with remarks at a landmark of the U.S. civil rights movement, the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, where armed Alabama police attacked more than 500 civil rights demonstrators on March 7, 1965, a day known as "Bloody Sunday."
(…)
McCain spoke highly of Georgia Democratic Rep. John Lewis — an Obama supporter — who took part in the Selma march and was beaten by police.
Not to mention McCain’s appearance at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis where King was shot, where he attempted to apologize for his original opposition to MLK Day, with mixed results.
It sure looks like McCain and his handlers (and probably the media) are making a concerted effort to establish his totally-not-a-racist bona fides, doesn’t it? I think McCain’s campaign has calculated that Obama is the likely Democratic nominee, so they must therefore inoculate their guy against charges of race-baiting when the anti-Obama attacks inevitably slide into the gutter.
Am I saying McCain is a racist? Honestly, I don’t know, although his past opposition to MLK Day is not encouraging. But I will be frankly shocked if we don’t see a whole bunch of smudgy flyers, mysterious robocalls, and shady push polls insinuating that Obama is a black separatist Muslim crack dealer – "Do we really know where his loyalties lie?", that sort of thing. McCain may not be a racist, but his campaign and his party are going to pander to them all the same. And he’s going to let them.
You know, just to be on the safe side, McCain should probably try to find a running mate with some genuine civil rights bona fides. Someone who was a Freedom Rider, maybe. Preferably one who shared his love of war, but surely it would be impossible to find such a person…

Eli!
So why isn’t he mad at Lieberman?
CTut!!!
McCain has a black problem
IOKIYCFL?
Hey Eli !!
You doin’ the live PA election threads tomorrow?
(you know how I love live-threads)….
when I see people misbehaving badly
Does McSame buy his lines from the department of redundancy department?
Not exactly. I will be providing a kickoff post at 7:30, but I’ll actually be at Pittsburgh Drinking Liberally. But I’ll drop into the threads as soon as I return, and maybe post something if I get some juicy inside PA intel.
Who’s the blond?
Here’s the dude he called a “boy”, they made up, wonder why
I assumed that he meant that people misbehaving expertly was perfectly okay.
Which would explain a lot.
It’s funny; that’s what McCain said.
Pretty sure that’s his daughter Meghan.
Betty Joe Bioloski, but everyone knew her as Nancy!
Am I saying McCain is a racist?
I’d be happy to answer that question….
Yeppers, make those tax cuts permanent… That’ll do the trick…! 8-(
Replying to rwcole @ 145 on Condi calling Sadr chicken thread.
‘The incompetence is so incredible as to be baffling.’
I don’t believe it is ‘incompetence’. They had TOO many little legal tricks ready to go for it to be anything but deliberate.
Heh. The bottom line is that he’s going to run a racist campaign, whether he personally feels that way or not. I never really got the sense that Bush I was racist, but… Willie Horton.
n September 2006, Renzi was named one of the “20 Most Corrupt Members of Congress” in a report by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a non-partisan watchdog group founded in 2005 by former Democratic congressional staffers.[35] Renzi was also listed in the first report by the organization in January 2006, when he was one of 13 named members. The organization said “His ethics issues stem from the outside income earned by his administrative assistant and from legislation he sponsored that benefitted his father”[36]
Well, everybody needs a hobby…. his happens to be illegal.
So?
Maybe…this is for sure M.McCain:
http://images.salon.com/news/f…../story.jpg
Maybe not Meghan. Probably is a daughter, tho.
All you need to know about the senile codger is he gave his major civil rights speech today in Selma, a town eighty percent black. Small problem though, the only black there is the cameraman in the above photo.
Oops, Meghan appears to be his only daughter. Not sure who that is, then.
Now how do you know that?
Hey Eli
That argument about being passionate to cover anger is such a joke. Pathetic, becuase people who truly live passionately know the difference. Passion is positive energy, anger is not and there’s no way to disguise it.
I had a Director in my old job who used that excuse for her anger, and it was funny to hear people call her about it.
That was the only photo of McCain with a black person in the frame that I could find.
That, or the CNN screen cap of him in Memphis, with the black guy holding the umbrella for him…
I noticed in the newsbox that the Huckster has just joined Team McInsane…
Yep, that’s why I pointed out the incidents with his wife and with Renzi. McCain and his apologists’ explanation for what causes his outbursts has absolutely no relation to reality.
Here’s a report
McCain’s appearance drew about 100 people, most of them white, in a town that is 70 percent black
Well, that’s gotta be *some* kind of achievement, right?
I honestly don’t get this McCain strategy at all.
more BS
WASHINGTON – ‘A federal appeals court sought compromise Monday between a liberal group demanding the names of White House visitors and the Bush administration, which says releasing the names would erode the president’s power.’
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/200…..se_secrecy
I doubt that McCain is viewed as much of a friend by the NAACP. The Wichita Chapter has issued a legislative report card for Senate votes on 15 important issues in 2007. They gave McCain an “incomplete” because he missed so many votes. However, given that he voted the wrong way on 7 of the 8 issues on their list for which he cast a vote, I think we can safely give him an F.
Republicans have been running Presidential campaigns based on race for the last 40 years. So I think it is a fairly safe bet they will do so this time. Only the code words may change.
Why not? It makes perfect sense to me. It’s not like it has to convince everybody. Just enough undecided, low-information voters who will think that this means John McCain is a decent, stand-up guy who would never condone ugly racist attacks.
The other aspect, which I just realized, and should have included in the post, is that they’re also trying to get the benefit of the doubt on dog whistles. “No, that couldn’t *possibly* have been intended in a racist way. He went to Memphis and Selma, fachrissakes!”
“McCain should probably try to find a running mate with some genuine civil rights bona fides”
Actually, if he wanted to stay on the safe side he’ll probably run with the likes of Huckabee… or Crisp.. hey, doesn’t Macaca Allen need a job? White sheets all around.
I heard he spoke to a huge crowd of 100 white people today about not forgetting the black people. or something.
Not exactly. I will be providing a kickoff post at 7:30,…
Well, if you’ll give me a little somethin’ about Candy Crowley, I can take it from there….
But this would be the first time they’ve ever run directly against a minority candidate. So now any race-baiting will be a *direct* attack on the Democratic candidate himself.
I think he’s just looking for something to do until the GE starts in earnest. They serve some pretty good BBQ in that part of the country…
With the type of white people who’re likely to have been in that audience, I’m sure blacks, or women, or gays, or Latinos, or practically anyone else not actually in that audience, may find it safer and more desirable to be forgotten by ‘em.
Is it former beauty queen his campaign hired to manage racist, plagiarizing interns ??

Candy Candy Candy, jayt can’t let you go…
Not only that, but the McCain quotes I heard on the news today “the government should not take away your choices” sounded so much to me anyway like “we’re going to help you by not helping you”
The distinction between a real racist and a person who runs a racist campaign for political expedience is slight enough that I feel comfortable ignoring it.
OT,
Our governor in Alaska, Sarah Palin, delivered her fifth child last Friday. He was a month early. Today she confirmed what has been a press rumor all weekend, that little Trig has Down’s Syndrome. She’s 45,
‘A federal appeals court sought compromise Monday between a liberal group demanding the names of White House visitors and the Bush administration, which says releasing the names would erode the president’s power.’
What sort of compromise? Maybe releasing just their first names? Or just the visitors on Monday, Wednesday & Fridays?
I’m cool with that.
hillary on KO
Candy Candy Candy, jayt can’t let you go…
Well, that’s not really what I was talking about, but no matter – that’s one fine vid/song.
Thanks.
Ya want I should call next time Suzanne and I get into a YouTube war?
I think the race issue is not even on the radar of low-information, undecided voters.
Oh, I don’t know how you feel about your governor, but it takes brave strong parents to raise special kids with Down’s. Good luck to them.
You don’t want that.
Any voter who remains undecided in this election probably lacks radar altogether.
and what is going on with Keith and Hillary?
Could someone help me here and I do not want to engage in a “poo flinging” or what ever it is called.
Why is KO going with Hillary on his show tonight just before the important Pennsylvania primary? Seems to me it is a lot of free coverage and unfair to the Obama camp?
I apologize if this has been covered, just asking a question and thank you in advance for the answer.
From the end of the post:
The ’such a person’ turns out to be Lieberman, civil rights activist from the ’60s and possible (?) VP on the McCain ticket.
Is this totally unlikely, or is there really a chance of using Lieberman to split the black vote and, heck, the entire Democratic vote (presuming that there are Democrats who would like an ex-D on the R ticket, figuring that at least he might still be a little bit D and at least he’s not, ahem, a little bit b***k)?
Somebody call KKKarl and ask if this math will work.
If I had to guess, I’d speculate that he’s been stung by criticism that he’s too blatantly Probama and anti-Hillary.
I watching an Obama town hall in McKeesport on the live streaming from CNN. He said some good stuff on shutting down the “revolving door” between regulators and lobbyists.
I heard on Green 960 that Obama was invited to be on Larry King and on KO, but they were going to do other shows…

McCain’s best black friend is the camera guy?
BAH HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh gawd. That’s too funny.
McCain needs to find a running mate who doesn’t need a pacemaker.
‘What sort of compromise? Maybe releasing just their first names? Or just the visitors on Monday, Wednesday & Fridays?’
Hmmm, we could start with those names and go from there, you know the friday night document drops etc….;)
Hil is again speaking well of McCain’s experience in the military and senate. he crosses the “threshold” for leadership. The problem is he “has the wrong ideas”. Now say he would be worse than President Bush. whatever.
Well, yeah, that was the link.
I think they might see some value in being able to say, “We can’t be racist! Our running mate was a Freedom Rider!”
But I don’t think he would get McCain a single black vote.
just an interview..
asked her about the OBL ad
about her blanket middle east policy
about her claim that obama was praising mccain when e=she herself had done so
It’s actually pretty good.
Egads, that’s the just the point, to lessen the president’s power. to hold him accountable. Jeebus!
Surprise, surprise, I thought it was the man holding the Umbrella for McCain while getting soaked …
Wow, that is devastating news… I truly wish her the best of luck!
Whoa….what’s up with that!!!????
“Ashley Zais, a recent Wofford grad, will serve as McCain’s intern coordinator at the campaign’s headquarters.
She met McCain last year when the senator gave a speech at South Carolina’s Newberry College, where her father is president. “
So….she “met” him…and so he “hired” her? Heh, heh. I’ll bet Cindy’s happy about that…
((( Eli )))
If Hillary was Pinnochio …

HRC is also going on Larry King tonight …
He’s planning on painting his face black and doing Al Jolson songs …

Thank you. I guess i just felt the timing was wrong.
Whenever you want the correct answers, just go to FDL. What an awesome site!
I only ever met Scaife in a “receiving” line….it was a “deathbed conversion”…
I think she met him in Bosnia.
Wow, he asked her why in the world did she meet with Scaife and why would she has accepted and not rejected his endorsement.
Her answer: shge was curious, and it was a fascinating discussion. But she believes in redemption and see the error of their ways. She is bringing together people.
Let’s face it – the man is utterly brilliant /s
Scaife had a death bed conversion…? Huh…?
He said that Obama and staff had scheduling problems and couldn’t appear tonight.
mkay, is the primary over yet?!?!?!?!?!
Particularly since Lieberman has personally obstructed any accountability for dead and homeless African-Americans, courtesy of Katrina and BushCo?
She said that.
Gosh, she didn’t get a “Great Thanks.”
I wish…
What a blatant lie … KO should have played the second speech she made that day where her compliment of McCain was more obvious … I thought KO handled her with kid gloves tonight …
yeah okay
OT –
Holy cow!
Just had to pop over and drop a comment about HRC on Keith’s show…
Did anyone see her laugh her head off maniacally when Keith asked her about her new-found friend Richard Mellon Scaife?!?!???
Keith even interrupted her laughter to say, “seriously, Senator Clinton” and to tell her how he left a job because of his objection to Scaife and others.
She just kept laughing and laughing and laughing…before saying she believed in “death-bed conversions.”
It was very, very, very strange.
That was a great commercial on closing the Gun Show ‘Loophole’… ! 8-)
Hey no problem. I think I would have the same thoughts if it is not explained anywhere that O was invited and chose different shows to appear on…I heard also that O will appear on The Daily Show tonight!
Well he asked about criticsm of her campiagn and the accusations of sexism…..I’ll let you draw your own conclusions
That was a tough but fair interview.
Spin and triangulate … what could have been …
true tom cruise moment
Yup.
KO asked Hillary some pointed questions. He gave her almost 20 mins. She
danced around a bit on answers. … Didn’t she read the NIE on Iran’s nuke
ambitions? Her answer on that was flat out wrong.
She’s a truly fine person if she can overlook what Richard Mellon-Scaife
did to destroy her and Bill. (I confess I’m not that noble – yet.)
McCain had next to nothing to say about Katrina and NOLA, and his buddy the good Reverand Hagee has said that NOLA’s destruction was a “judgement from God”… voters need to be reminded of this at every opportunity.
Eli, I found another image of McCain with at least part of a black person. I think you should have gone with this one, because at least we know it’s a McCain supporter, unlike the camera man.

Candy Candy Candy, jayt can’t let you go…
Cool – I always wondered who the female voice was on that song.
Kate Pierson from the B-52’s. Solved a many-years old question for me (’course, sometimes, I’m just not all that bright).
well, I give her some slack for the croaky quality of her voice and laugh because she’s hoarse from so much campaigning. But her “bringing people together” bull sounded pretty hollow to me.
707…now I’m envisioning her laughing and jumping on a couch…
What I always hear when she laughs like that is….”and your little dog Toto too!!”
my head hurts
KO: did she just threaten Iran with nuclear inhilation?
yep, you did
I don’t see it as nobility.
I call it “opportunism.”
Sometimes…? ;-)
Oh, that would have been perfect. But I’m kind of restricted to stuff in the public domain.
Awww.
Yeah…that’s it.
yep, everyday. They could get Kanye to do an ad.
John McCain doesn’t like black people
Thank you for the “Tom Cruise” reference.
You captured the strangeness of it perfectly.
He’s probably got Obama for tomorrow night.
I meant
Kanye: john McCain doesn’t care about black people
Yes, BO will be on TDS … did you see Colbert last Thursday ?
Stephen brought his “A” game …
They were back here recording their new album last year.
Hi Petro, Yeah I thought she was dancing pretty hard. KO asked the pointed questions very politely but he DID ask tough questions.
It was disturbing to hear the Iran Concern Troll speak, though. Very disturbing.
KO is asking why she laughed during the Scaife questions! hahaha!
I agree her voice is hoarse.
But that doesn’t account for the fact that she laughed so hard, and for so very long that Keith had to interrupt the laughter to try to get an answer.
[Keith is asking about the laughter — Wolfe is calling it a “nervous tic.”]
This ticks me off too…(yep, one of those days)

But be careful – in my more lucid moments, ya really don’t want me all over your ass….
In the meantime – good one *g*
Maybe Scaife is like the Joker or something. Gave her some kind of laughing poison.
Heh, heh, heh, heh….my pretty….
How’s your son doing?
The laughing….she may be just giddy from lack of sleep, or relieved that the whole thing will be over soon.
The way she’s spinning it — that she managed to win even Scaife over — maybe it’s the other way ’round.
Sh*t!!!!
Ah, that dry British wit is greater because of the accent … nervous tic … LOL
OMG … you missed some great stuff … watch until the very end …
How about giving Hillary some credit for coming on the show? It isn’t exactly friendly territory. One of the things I like about her is her courage. She has game.
Yeah, I have a hard time imagining *any* positive spin she could make. It’s like if I suddenly started saying Dubya’s really not so bad.
Darn it, I missed the birth … *g*

Karin, I missed if you said already, but did you actually see the interview? I had to drop everything and come over here to the computer because it was so very strange.
I mean, I was on my way out to do physical therapy in the pool, and the strangeness of her laughter stopped me dead in my tracks….
Oh, well. Maybe not everyone saw it that way.
Off to p.t. now….

Sounds like some White Guy’s idea of a race-neutralizing VP pick.
It probably would get them a few votes, but not many. Prolly mainly older Blacks with long memories who don’t use computers or cell phones and get all their news from the TeeVee. But I’m just guessing.

Update on Hamad:
http://www.590klbj.com/News/Story.aspx?ID=89215
Going on KO is hardly courageous. I do appreciate her coming on and clarifying her position about wanting to nuke the heck out of Iran.
How’s your son doing?
Great!! Once I blew up the criminal case against him, he’s free to join the army, which:
a) scares the shit outta his dad, and
b) is something he’s wanted to do since he was twelve. He blew away their intelligence test, so I have high hopes that he’ll be chained to a nice safe desk somewhere.
Thanks for asking.
Thanks for this …
Bwahahaha…
No, it was a ‘tom cruise’ moment. very strange but maybe it was a nervous tick.
Yeah, I’ll give her that. She’s got game but KO is a decent person & journalist-so she would not have to worry about an unfair ambush.
I think of it more as funkspiel; i.e., distraction and misdirection. Just enough to confuse the undecided. I don’t think Joe’s presence would sway anyone away from voting Obama.
I loved that she triangulated with “… an unprovoked nuclear attack …”
KO should have followed up with, “What if it was a provoked nuclear attack?”
I just caught the end of it, where she laughed a bit and talked about believing in redemption.
LS, that reminds me of this story in today’s paper of mine, they can’t determine if ‘foul play was involved…

McSame is most vulnerable in terms of his vision.
It would be Teh Awesome if someone went through the exercise of
extending current trend data into the next 4 and 8 (through 100) years.
i.e., at this rate,
-a gallon of gas would cost $ for you/your children,
-you would pay $ for a gallon of milk, for college tuition, etc.
-war expenses would equal $
-contractor fraud amounts would climb to $
-possible loss of US & Iraqi lives might be…
-Social Security funds would be $ (non-existent),
-the deficit would be (meaning $ owed per child born after 2000,
meaning $ owed per citizen over the age of 18 as of 2008))
-the dollar would be worth, etc. etc.
The more specific a depiction can be drawn about what McSame
really means, the more prohibitive he becomes as a candidate.
You can see people cringe a bit when we start heading into “they’re
criticizing Gramps again” territory. It’s like they don’t hear anything
after that, either cause it sounds like hitting below the belt, or people
don’t want any (even vague) reminders about their own mortality.
But no matter what age, the President has to have a Vision.
He’s told us, abstractly, what his is.
Start getting really specific about what it means, in terms of things
that matter most to everyday people, and in the most profound economic and
quality of life terms possible (quantitative and qualitative data) to create a
‘graspable hypothetical.’ Gently take em by the hand and go there.
just a thought — there are some very talented people out there who could
do this — maybe even put it into a video — (worked for Gore!)
we can get the edge back.

McCain was Senator from Arizona in 1987 when the Governor of Arizona referred to Blacks as “pickaninies” .

I feel that McCain dislikes anybody “brown”…anybody that is different from him…oh, yeah…like “gooks”…
That’s it exactly, and what I expect Obama to do, as when he talked about McSame’s flub about Al Qaeda training in Iran. HRC, by contrast, tries to compete with McSame on his so-called strengths, like his willingness to start new wars.
After that Countdown interview, anyone who doesn’t see that Hillary is a neo-con is NOT being honest with themselves.

I sure hope so. My bitterest disappointment in 2004 was when Kerry hired disgruntled Bush ex-security adviser Rand Beers… and then completely failed to point out that Bush hadn’t done *shit* to keep us safe, except for one response in one of the debates.
If he had taken away “Bush will keep you safe from the terrorists,” Dubya would have had nothing left to run on.

Whoa! Everyone cool your jets! Clinton was asked what she would do if Iran initiated a nuclear attack on Israel!!!
I’m supporting Obama, but there’s no need to pile on Hillary by taking her answer to a question out of context!

Thanks Buddy … I’m sending this to everyone I know …
This is a sad story. He was a school teacher; the school has been doing grief intervention for the kids.
Thank you. Guess I better wander away from the computer to go see that part of the show. After supporting the Clinton’s through thick and thin, ‘92 and beyond, I am having a tough time with the way she is willing to destroy the party with her slash and burn tactics. I am seeing a whole different side of them and feel really stupid that it took this long to recognize that they are only out for themselves.
I even know when I began to turn, when Bill said after S. Carolina that “Jesse Jackson won here too…”
I thought that was a strange thing to say when he had so much support from the Black community during his Presidency. Sorry for the editorial.
If you’re serving in Afghanistan or Iraq, no job is safe… Trust me…! He really should wait on it…!
Sorry – stepped out for a minute.
He scored a 96/100 on their intelligence test – and was pissed. There was, at the time, a National Guard recruiter fucking with him, who kept him up with phone calls promising imminent arrest that very morning. Nick was up all night – no sleep. He still wants to take the thing again.
He’s looking to go into JAG or Intelligence – if he opts for boots-on-the-ground, I’ll kill him myself.
I doubt the new leadership will take to Bush’s private military over there either…They should nationalize the water….Bush’s property is over one of the largest aquifers….at lest that is what I have read…I don’t know what is true or not…
It is a scary and horrible story…I’m sure there will be more…very suspicious…
I don’t know anything about the new guy in Paraguay, except what I read this morning. But Global Voices Online is a good starting point to find bloggers from different parts of the world.
http://www.globalvoicesonline……/paraguay/
If you poke around there you might find some info.
Can we at least admit she doesn’t read the NIE reports. The ones that say repeatedly that iran isn’t doing the nukey thing.
Oh I agree with you, we have a famous saying in yoga/meditation … “Choose your enemies carefully for you will become them.”
I would think that the prospect of landing some AIPAC money through Lieberman, who I believe has been one of their top beneficiaries, would be a lot more important to McSame than any marginal help Lieberman can give him with black voters. Lieberman did have very real civil rights cred, and maybe still has some, as Hillary does for that matter, but I doubt if it means very much in this contest. McCain could really use some money and powerful, influential backers though.
Did ko ask her that, or was that a hypothetical she came up with?
Better late than never.
Raven @ 200 has the link …
I don’t seriously believe that that would be the main reason McCain would pick Joe as his running mate. But it could be *a* reason.
(The racial inoculation reason, I mean)
I couldn’t believe KO failed to call her on that strawman … going easy on her is one thing, failing to be a good journalist is another …
Thank you for the info.
Two old farts? Sounds like a loser ticket to me.
I’m sure there will be lots of 527s on McCain’s side to do his dirty work … Rove’s best tactic …
From where I’m standing, it’s a dream ticket…
It’d also mean we’d get a Democrat into that CT-SEN seat two years early.
CT … if you’re still here in EPU Land … my apologies to you and all Bruins fans … *g*
Now that’s a great idea … I’m writing McCain to tell him how much I admire JoeLie …
I heard today a good piece on the $$ of all 3 candidates; that Mc has not attracted any of the W big money people. He will need to get the Federal campaign money; OB can outspend him big time. That was the conclusion.
Aww, that’s the beauty part. BTW, did you happen to see either of the candidates? They have been practically living in Pennsy lately.
I’m not a Bruin fan, remember I’m an Oiler fan…!
I just can’t wait for those debates …
Nah, too lazy. Wouldn’t really help me make up my mind, either.
That’s a great idea; should we all join you?
Oh right, I forgot the Oilers still had a fan … *g*
LOL … yes please … my letter includes … Gore/Lieberman won the 2000 election and I see no reason
why a McCain/Lieberman ticket will be any different … Joe Liberman is a
WeinerWinner !!!*g*Wouldn’t the irony be too awful to have Lieb. successfully win one. Oh, Gag. Florida all over again.
I’ll bet Dollar to Donuts he doesn’t … Diebold notwithstanding …
Yeah, I guess “bomb, bomb Iran” McCain already has AIPAC cred, so my speculation doesn’t make much sense, which shows I haven’t been paying much attention to McCain. I do think he is a more formidable opponent than we imagine, though.
Oh, he scares the crap out of me. Not because he’s anything great himself, but because the media are so locked into that Straight-Talking Maverick narrative. It’s complete and total bullshit, but so was the Resolute Manly Action Hero narrative about Dubya, and that didn’t collapse until it was too late.
The only thing that comes to my mind so far about an actual McCain/Lieberman ticket is uncontrollable vomiting.
I’m thinking of the Evangelists’ heads spinning fast enough to create tornadoes …
“McCain ‘08 And Lose That Weight!”
Another of my speculations is that a lot of those people in the polls who are dissatisfied with the direction of the country, could buy into McCain the non-Bush-Republican maverick reformer sell without a lot of cognitive dissonance. Likewise, many of the people who are dissatisfied with the war due to ‘poor implementation’ and independents who might see him as independent like themselves. Ah, my mind is rotting from the past 8 years.
Exactly. Or, “I may not agree with everything he says, but at least I know where he stands.” Completely forgetting that that was the exact same thing they said about Dubya, and look where that got ‘em.
LMAO Well, he’s either a camera man, the Umbrella Guy, or he’s the guy following McCain around asking, “Can I get you something, sir?”!
A harp and mate’ in Paraquay might sound good except that my wife spent two years in rural Paraquay living in a little hut in the Peace Corps. She says the Oregon rain is nothing compared to Paraguay. But I’m very happy to see the old dictatorial party losing one after so many years.
thanks cbl2 and petro! Loved it!!!
Thanks Pennsylvania! We’ve told you what to think, now go vote!!
gotta love it.
