I am in the groove with the Sofa Rockers - Sofa Surfers remix by Richard Dorfmeister
What's on your mind tonight?
ES!
Eureka!
Woo hoo! Zedders!
Eureka!
Aloha, LL!
Good evening Dawgs.
Aloha CT, weren’t we just here last night? *g*
evening!
Evening ES good tune and a little Digg for Ya
ES, this tune has a great groove. Nice choice!
eureka!
Ya beat me last nite, tho…! ;-)
I’ll be back the missus wants her Beer batter fried mahimahi and chips now…! ;-)
Well, Summer arrived today.. The airc onditioner kicked on and this evening the first whippoorwill chimed up shortly after sunset. What happened to Spring?
Anyone have a spare set of hip-waders for tomorrows primary?
As much as I like Rachel on nights like what we have in front of us, the waders would be appropriate.
Try that again!
still spring here. early spring at that. past crocus season and starting forsythia season.
Barack on Stewart..now.
I refuse to participate in any thread where there’s not a mod, front and center….
Wake me up in about 2 days….
My forsythia just faded out as dogwoods, redbuds, and lilac exploded everywhere!
i love spring!
How do we know, YOU are not a mod?
Not to put too fine a point on this, but-
Howdy, jayt.
hey a question for you-all, since off topic is on topic. actually two questions…
1) did any of you read paul lukasiak’s series?
and if so…
2) did any of you follow/understand it?
howdy LM!
Can I be a Mod? No? ok.
Am I the only one sick to DEATH of the Clintons’ scorched earth campaign?
What happened to Spring?
Spring done sprung here.
I found out that Robins can move really fast if you charge them, waving a hat, and just yelling generic bird-innults and stuff…
i thought you wanted to be a rock and roll star?
1) yes
2) no
Good evening miss.
What will tomorrow night bring? And I’d like your position, not the betting odds :-)
I do to, Selise.. One of the things I love about my neck of the Ozarks is all four seasons are equally three months in duration..(usually)
BTW, Did you have time to listen to the item of the day @ thinkprogress yet? Wondering if it’s worth the time?
selise, 1) yes, and 2) no.
Spring is busting out all over here, and my azaleas are about ready to pop out :-)
1) did any of you read paul lukasiak’s series?
Half heartedly.
and if so…
2) did any of you follow/understand it?
I lost interest early on.
Selise, I read-waded-through it, but I couldn’t follow it. Like Raven said, I need the Executive Summary.
How do we know, YOU are not a mod?
I claim moderation in no facet of my life. I’m just kinda that way…
and howdy Lurking Mod - I feel much better now (and have yourself a fine evening)
over my head
i don’t know.
confession - i’m not following the primaries that much. must have a low tolerance - i OD’ed on them months ago.
… re: paul’s series: i’m still trying to. have done some of the analysis myself (paul was very nice about sharing the his dataset), and i don’t see how it says what he says it says.
ok, that didn’t make any sense. to many says. hopefully you and translate.
was hoping someone here could explain it to me.
Very good…maybe “too many notes”….(Amadaeus)…
I have your back, and Suzanne has mine. Perfect.
And my evening is just great, thank you.
For elections…keep it simple.
As hard as I tried to wade through that series, I came to no conclusions. I expected to suddenly discover the point and it never came.
Norske was right - unless you live inside the data, it’s really tough to draw any conclusions (if in fact there were any to be drawn).
if you mean the democracy now! interview, i listened to it a couple of weeks ago - we even talked about it in some of christy’s threads. highly recommended. but there is a transcript if you prefer that. i also read sand’s piece in vanity fair - as preparation for reading yoo’s memo. it didn’t help.
sands is great, i have his previous book, “lawless world” - highly recommend it too. but have not yet read his latest. that’s going to go to the top of my list as soon as i get it.
can I change *one* letter?
As sick as I am of all things Primary.. I stay with it on a couple of smaller AR blogs because the locals need to know so much more about the issues and have or take a realistic assessment of their chosen candidates.
Hopefully it will help in the long haul. (’12 - ‘16 etc)
ES, the Sofa Rockers sorta put me in mind of this tune:
Daft Punk Is Playing At My House
A ‘R’ for a ‘L’…?
Saw most of Obama’s appearance on Jon Stewart. He seems pretty relaxed.
well, like i said, i’m only through the first of the series. but i’ve got 19 linear regressions (just did them tonight), and i don’t know many frequency charts and t-tests. does that count?
and i still don’t get it. or, rather, i get stuff - just not what paul got.
you are a good person ES.
oh, well… i’m not used to looking at polling data. if you all hear of anyone who did read the series and who i can ask for some tutoring, i’d love a heads up. thanks!
ET, I came away with that impression too. Relaxed and confident.
IMHO, Hillary Clinton has succumbed to stress and lost her mind, which is not good in a Commander-in-Chief.
Earlier on ABC:
Tonight on MSNBC’s Counddown:
Per Ab2kg@Dkos.com , we need to keep two points in mind:
* The National Intelligence Estimate http://blogs.abcnews.com/polit.....-iran.html :
* BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7046258.stm :
The insanity of returning to the doctrine of Mutual Assured Destruction is truly MAD. And so far as I can tell the only objective of all of this bullshit is to preserve Israel’s nuclear monopoly in the Mideast. If they truly fear a nuclear-armed Iran, let them offer to free the Mideast of ALL nukes.
sofa, meet sufi: (the late great) Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
Gimme a minute - gotta re-group. In the meantime, for your listening pleasure (ok, I’m makin’ myself sick too)
LENNY:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAeYTC_uY54
Well, there’s no danger of that, so what’s her point?
yeah: keep it sample.
She is running against a crazy man. She needs to out-crazy his ass.
She is overlooking Senator Obama because she can’t compete there.
And stop playing hypotheticals with the MSM who instantly allows for Republicans to profess it as reality.
i always thought that kerry voted for the iraq war out of crass political calculation - not an admirable quality.
but i also thought that clinton voted for it because she thought it was a good idea.
and wrt something like this - i’ll take the crass political operative over the true believer.
but, of course, i don’t know if i’m reading the players correctly - it’s very hard to tell.
you don’t think sane will win out over crazy?
I do think sane will win. But the junior Senator from New York doesn’t, or she’s already running for Governor of her adopted state.
She needs to out-crazy his ass.
And like it or not, you have just been elected to head the Hillary campaign.
I wish you nothing but good luck.
(oh, and get the hell out of a lost race)
Your friend,
jayt
All Hillary needed to say on KO tonight in re Iran was, Oh Keith, I was really hoping to come on your show tonight and not have to play, pretend our non enemies are our enemies with imaginary nuclear capabilities.
ET - you are so gallant not to spoil TDS for we west coasters, though I’m awfully glad Obama “seems pretty relaxed.”
*bows deeply and departs the field*
I want to thank the academy… oh, nevermind.
When McCain sang about bombing Iran, he was making a despicable joke. Tonight, Hillary Clinton was deadly serious, and there was nothing even mildly humorous about it.
ding!
Selise, I can’t remember a time when I’ve ever disagreed with you-but I’ve always believed she voted for the war out of political expediency as well. I believe she made the calculation that a vote against the war was the kiss of death.
That is one cold-blooded calculation.
I don’t believe it. She is so fucking in-the-weeds of the campaign minutia right now, she can’t see the surface.
She will live to regret being so craven. But she will live.
well you may be right - if so, she’s only in same category (imo) as kerry.
Agreed! But such a loss of perspective in a commander-in-chief inevitably leads to horrors and to defeats.
I would prefer an opportunist, even a con artist, to one of these True Believers in the Nuclear Messiah. There is nothing, IMO, more dangerous than a true believer with a gun.
In her case, a really BIG gun.
and thus the idea that no incumbent should be voted for…
Completely agree.
And I think her “convincing posture” is just habit borne of necessity.
She has absolutely nowhere else to go.
I have to say the Arkansas Greens are going for the gusto this year. With One of our Senators facing no GOP challenger and one Congressman facing no Dem challenger.. Their Green challengers are going to get a lot more play than ever before.
BTW, selise, my compliments for your performance as the voice of reason and moderation this morning.
…Fading fast.
Goodnight, all. The best of all possible tomorrows to you all.
What I think I saw in her tonight was Bushesque kick-their-ass bring-em-on hubris.
Hillary reminded me of The Stepford Wives, it was just freaky. I don’t mean to be unkind because it has been a long primary and it’s probably taken its toll on the players.
She did write the book It Takes A Village. I believe there are contradictions within her that I can’t (won’t??) deal with.
OT. Selise, will you be coming to ECahn’s gathering in June?
yep.
planning on it. and kathryn_in_ma is planning on driving down with me. maybe we can even get scarecrow to come too.
Selise, YOU just made my day. WOW. What a thing to look forward to.
TDS Time…!
Wish I could go to eCAHN’s in June. I’ve been invited, but we’re celebrating my niece’s 16th birthday right around that time and I’d better not miss that!
will you be there pat9?
i invited myself (and kathryn), but ecahn didn’t seem to mind.
nite all.
happy earth day all!
Every day is earth day!
nite selise
selise, I’m sure she didn’t mind in the least :-) I only got invited because I’m on her email list for NYC-area firepup meet-ups.
Aloha, Selise!
nite selise
long, long day - with another two to follow; no idea what I’m doing here - one for the road:
Walkaway Joe:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djdvgAzqRy8
Nite all.
Yes, I’ll be there. In 2+ weeks I’ll be going to NY (leaving sunny FL) and will stay about 7 weeks. I’ll be just across the Hudson from ECahn’s country home. More later on things to be sorted out.
Fading fast so I’ll say Over and Out. I’m so looking forward to meeting everyone. I’ll be smiling all day tomorrow and tomorrow evening there’s a get-together to discuss the PA primary. It’ll be fun.
Dan Abrahms nails Turd Blossom’s.
In case you missed it, Karl Rove called out Dan Abrahms for his piece on Karl’s involvement in the prosecution of Dan seigelman. Karl’s letter went on and on with accsuatory questions. But Dan came back with all the answers and more. EW has the details: http://emptywheel.firedoglake......i-see-it/#
Fun stuff!
and yes, that is Don Henley
G’nite
G’nite, Suzanne.
Aloha, Jay!
Nite to all sleepy pups.
sorry - was watching TDS - waving g’nite to all the leaving sleeping pups
nite jayt
I was actually disappointed with Abrams today on his show, he covered it, but, I thought only mildly so…!
Jon: I’m wearing my flag pin, but, you can’t see it because it’s pinned to my chest…! Bwhahaha…!
I missed Abrams tonight (as usual). Dinner was served, and I was still fuming about the stuff that Hillary said. ;-)
Hope all of you left-coasters (and CT in the Isles) enjoy TDS as much as I did :-)
Hmmmmmmmmmm….
You do know that it worked for…well it’s still working. Let’s not get too far away from reality just because someone has made Unity! and Kumbaya their campaign policy.
Realpolitik still is operative no matter what we might wish for. And….
You do remember how Bush campaigned on ‘moving forward from the outdated constraints of the ‘cold war’….’ don’t you?
Hasn’t worked out too damn well as far as I can see.
Well it’s fun when Marcy gets ahold of it and refreshing to see anyone MSM play ball for a change.. But Conyers, dammmit.. is not funny.
Marcy is a bulldog… I pity the fool…! ;-)
Just one question: Except for Goopers and fundys, do you know anyone who believed that Chimpy wasn’t going to attack Iraq, if elected?
Do you know anyone but Goopers and fundys who believed his bullshit about “Compassionate Conservatism?”
Comparisons between Chimpy and ANY Democrat are worthless.
Vintage Fleetwood Mac: Oh Well
Good night all.
OK, 2 questions.
Tata, LL! FDL told me I couldn’t say Aloha, LL! Duplicate comment….! Bwhahaha…!!!
good stuff
nite LL
I seem to remember him
