Although I applaud all the work you have done in stimulating an anti-fascist awareness, I wonder if another “expose” on the Minutemen isn’t beatin a dead horse at the expense of usin’ the time and space ta advance understanding of more timely examples of the hate movement in the media campaign circus.

I am concerned about the demonization of MoveOn and Rev. Wright. While there was an immediate media moment devoted to Mrs. McClinton’s remarks about MoveOn caught on tape, there has been a deafening’ silence since even on the progressive blogosphere. I am worried that somehow even folks on the left are afraid of bringin’ down righteous lightening by defending MoveOn too long.

I am also concerned about the continuing demonization of Rev. Wright as “a bigot and a hater” while tryin’ ta extend the distance between Obama and his most righteous pastor.

The Minutemen are part of the fascist phenomenon that has been with us for a good while and doesn’t resonate in the”acceptable middle” like the attacks on MoveOn and Wright. It seems to me that we can’t jest cauterize wounds like the Rev. Wright brouhaha by distancing ourselves from and isolating the individuals or groups who are demonized.

Thanks for the post and thank for all yer work in bringin’ an anti-fascist consciousnes to our politics. I would like to read an articles or two from you on strategies for counter attacking to protect individuals and groups who are demonized in the way Rev. Wright, MoveOn and even Michael Moore have been.

“I hope Moqtada al-Sadr continues to depress violence and not encourage it,” said Major General Rick Lynch, commander of US forces in central Iraq.

Lynch, whose area of control includes the Shiite provinces of Babil, Wasit, Karbala and Najaf, said his forces were ready to take on Sadr and his feared Mahdi Army militia if they choose to fight Iraqi and American forces.

“If Sadr and Jaish al-Mahdi (Mahdi Army) become very aggressive, we’ve got enough combat power to take the fight to the enemy,” Lynch told a group of reporters from Western news networks.

Don’t know why- but this sounds like trash talk before a Donald King supported heavy weight fight…Is he promoting the bout in Iraq?

First of all there’s the question of whether it refers to impeachment of the pardonee of of the president himself.

Second there’s the question of whether it applies only to the impeachment proceedings and subsequent trial in the Senate, or it includes any and all follow-up criminal proceedings.

If the latter, must there have been a conviction in the Senate?
