Amos Lee -Black River
Reuters cameraman, 24 year old Fadel Shana, was killed in the line of duty under "controversial missile" fire in Israel last week. His final footage may be viewed here. Rest assured, because investigations have been initiated by those who fired the missile.

Hey hey Eureka
Eureka!
ES, thanks for this reminder.
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
ES!
That is some piece of film.
Thanks.
Good evening..)
That footage shows the IDF firing, that Israeli spokesman needs to get his facts straight…!
Howdy, LL! How’s Virginny?
I stumbled across the youtube this morning, not knowing how recent it was.. And a little angel sent me the news item on it later this evening.
Dugg
Aloha CT, it’s pouring down rain here :-) How are the Isles tonight?
evening pups,
how is everyone this evening? looks like i missed some wonderful topics earlier.
Intermittent showers, I got sun burnt doing some car repair work today…!
Love the Fab Four! ;-)
It’s not the “facts” he needs to straighten out…
Here’s a FrontLine World from March, ‘03: In The Line Of Fire. It is stunning and tells a bleak story of the attitudes there.
The violence has only increased exponentially since that was first produced in ‘03, particularly in the Gaza strip… I did see that, I’ve seen most of Frontline’s works, I watch it religiously every week, even when it’s a rerun…! ;-)
Bring ‘em on — in thigh-high boots
Hi ES!
I wanted to share this Amos Lee song with anyone in a sweet music mood tonight.
Good grief.. I don’t understand how folks can work so hard to be both ignorant and evil.
That works — very nice!
Rest assured, because investigations have been initiated by those who fired the missile.
I’m sure Inspector Clousseau is on the case as we speak. Another sad event in the Middle East.
The neocons would obviously prefer McCain to Obama, and will be doing everything possible to get Hillary to stay in, in order to take Obama out. But, just how well are neocons represented among her contributors and advisors? How much influence do they have on her? This Mideast nuclear shield idea wasn’t something she came up with by herself.
Agreed. There are overtures, trial balloons, and then there’s this.
Very Unitary Ex.
No better than they are in Obama’s, I’m sure. Clinton will stay in the race until it’s clear she can’t get the suport to win. That time hasn’t arrived yet, and the way things are going it may not arrive until the convention.
What the hell is she thinking. This guy is likely to win, whether we like it or not. And a victory by him would be strategically about the best deal we can get out of this mess. He hates foreigners in Iraq. He’d drive out Al Qaeda and keep out the Iranians. In the real world, that’s the best deal we’ll get.
The entire world is being run by madmen.
-G
This is the latest I’ve been up in quite a while…think I’ll just sit back and watch the river flow
thigh-high boots?
They still want chaos. It’s the only thing that makes sense to me.
Ahhh, LL always brings in the good Bobby..)
Ecuador’s Raphael Correa is purging his military and kicking out 100 US advisers.
He’d better watch out now.
-G
T-shirt idea: I visited the Pentagon and all I got was this lousy sock-puppet.
The people who’ve been running the show don’t seem to be interested in the real world. After the war “ended”, they sent a guy over there to run things who didn’t seem to know the first thing about the place. Then they sent another.
I think you’re right about Sadr, but it seems obvious that they won’t be changing their minds any time soon. They’ll probably have their minds changed for them, if it’s possible at all.
Glad you liked that one, CT :-)
If you haven’t seen this one……George Santayana is rolling over in his grave.
-G
And the underdog Presidential candidate defeated the old school Moonied interest in Paraguay! Maybe we can initiate a new extradition treaty.
Great find.
Saw that. The coalition of leftists and rightists…but not the establishment.
No one ever mentions the global impact of Chimpy Vision.
At least Israel and Poland still loves them some Uncle Sam.

birds of a feather…

i am up way past my bedtime, been a full week, full of weird, full of good, full of things to think about.
some i provoked and got answers back, some i just wonder ’what the hell”…. a rare week.
this is the soundtrack to it.
oh, and i posted those because it all fit with your post……was waiting….that kinda synergistic week matching up with what you said kinda thing……….
hail to all heroes.

I remember Owens showing Hitler that his master race wasn’t so masterful, by winning four Gold medals…!
One of my favorite Arkansas blogs allows full fledged Fundies dipped in Kool Aid GOPers to comment.. and the quote below by one of the most notorious idiots known to mankind… well, if he can come around this far, anything can happen:
Of course it’s flawed, but I cannot express just how far this characters views have evolved.
They have a price and still accept the dollar.
a rare week.
That it’s been. I just finished getting up to speed on the Expelled: No
IntelligenceIdiocy Allowed movie and writing about it. Seems like a week where I’ve been trying to put things in perspective and not doing too well.My hesitation about Hillary Clinton has to do with her writing the book
It Takes a Village, while during Bill Clinton’s presidency when Madeline Allbright
was Secy. of State Iraq was being denied medicines and other vital items.
Later when Madame Secy. was asked was the death of 500,000 Iraqi kids a
reasonable tradeoff (paraphrased), he said Yes.
I can’t find the real Hillary within these two extremes.
your third link doesn’t go there (copyright claim)
Thank you kindly.. I went for the Pete link first.
Wow ES, an awakening of sorts.
Who is making that claim? Sounds like more intellectual property vampirism.
Very much so.. Several of us have been working on him for over a year… it’s been brutal at times, but he kept coming back.
if not just pure greed
you’d think jimi would have wanted us to hear it
Congressman Walter “Freedom Fries” Jones comes to mind.
Good for Arkansas, Eureka.
neuro, I don’t think Jimi would have had any problem with the intellectual property thing…
Ol’ Walter beats most AR Dems, if you ask me. I sent him thank you letters for questioning the war two years ago.
If the media was such a pack of lackeys, hacks and patsies, they would be able to discuss the Iraq beyond the silly Rep./Dem. frames.
But we know that their skills have been reduced to being a Speak and Spell for the Whitehouse.
I still think this is gonna be a long hot summer……wars, terrorism, sky high fuel….
-G
If the media WASN’T…
He appears to be genuinely stricken by the consequences of his support for the invasion and occupation.
All the way home from work earlier tonight, I saw $3.49/gal at all the gas stations. This is just outside Dee Cee, and I know it’s got to be worse elsewhere.
It’s rather sad that Americans will demonstrate for the rights of Tibetans but not so much for their own. In any case, I consider it a good sign, and one that is not going unnoticed in the seats of power.
Saw $3.53 on the Maine Tpke.
With talk of at least an additional 30 cents rise before Memorial Day.
-G
If the media weren’t - the subjunctive mood, suggesting wishful thinking, or hopes contrary to fact…
A week ago, I paid $4.03/gal for premium.
GregB — great, just f’n great! Argh…
wigwam, holy crap…
Yes it is.. If there is one thing Americans need in respect to protesting, it’s practice practice practice..
Hey, I’m delurking to say my OT bit. And I don’t expect this to be a topic tonight. But, assuming management is cruising….
I HATE FDL’s payment set-up. There’s no way for me to do automatic monthly payments. I know Paypal is a right wing company from my gleanings, I hate all the looooooong timmmmmme downloading as a non high-speed person.I don’t understand why there isn’t a better alternative.
I was TRYING to pay $10 every month as an alternative to my Sunday New York Times habit. I just HATE to discover that I spent all those lovely Sundays lingering over coffee and lying pieces of propaganda horrific crap.
My need to overcome those Sundays with More and Better Sundays is huge.
Can FDL rethink their payment program?
I apologize for being so incredibly OT by the time this shows up in comments. But my alternative has been to send in checks snall mail and that’s financially inefficient.
I was thinking the same thing when I saw that.
It’s around $3.50 for regular here in WA, almost 3.90 for premium. Diesel’s 4.30.
I didn’t even figure it through that well before posting the incorrect correction;)
A Glenn Greenwald column from a while ago made a pretty good case about why that doesn’t occur any more. Hold on a second, let me find it …
here it is. He quotes an interview with Walter Pincus:
It’s become so ridiculous. There’s an assumption that there are two sides to every story - Democrat and Republican. That’s seldom even the right number of sides.
Pat Lang wrote a comment today on the subject. Said he stopped going on The NewsHour because it was getting so silly.
They and their neocon advisors decided to indulge their boyhood fantasies and play Masters of the Universe.
Also, I wonder if the recent financial tanking of the NYTimes has to do with the fact that their paper has become largely an odious rag to many who once considered it a respectable journal?
Hope that fat Kristol salary is working out for ya Pinchy Poo.

Someday soon it might be cheaper to purchase an illegal smile than to purchase a gallon of gas.
I’m a grammar geek. Most people don’t go that far, but like you, they know what it means.
I think it’s part of a trend, actually. All the newspaper chains are losing circulation. If you want to make money in the short term, don’t invest in newspapers.
Hi LL, ES, and everyone.
As far as I can tell the only growth industries in the Bush economy are mercenaries, poker and internet porn.
-G
Hi O.H. Always open topic during LLN. Nice to see you. I will pass that note to the higher ups.
Hey Margot :-)
cujo and eureka and neuro–i’m dealin with browser quitting, and then clicking on links or going to respond and links disappear, like disappearing ink, so have to reload again, on dialup, and it’s a lot.
(and to those of you who missed it, i wrote a few cool revealing things at the end of siun’s post, for her and marks’ benefit, so read them, may never be said again)
and, am exhausted and had a few beers to wire me out but this time all it did was wire me up. and the bitch is, now that i’m wired, i only have one beer left. when it’s gone, off to bed i go. i’'ll just have to listen to the radio.
so, cujo, i have a few links you can use on your endeavor, but just tried to find them and verify them, what you wrote is familiar i glanced as it was loading, and yes, you guessed it, browser quit, so had to reload all of my windows again, if you need them will provide, let me know, have a few. i glanced at your site before it disappeared, think i can help.
eureka. pete is my hero, since the tender age of 17, riding along in dick martone’s car on the way to the webn kite fly, i was in the best place i could ever imagine, he had the 8-track of ’let’s see action’ i was in love.wioth pete. and ’pure and easy’ best two songs ever written. ’now and then’ rides on up there with them. he is so underknown. i wish everyone has heard what he says. outside of the who. a genius.
neoro—the third link–i WILL devote effort for that, have another, though not a 12-string version, hold on, here it is,
the day i heard this song i finally understood jimi hendrix, and i grew up around musicians and never got it, after this song, i did.
this song hit my soul.

Call me the Breeze by two legends…
eureka at 49–forgot to say–
i thought you would.
Apropos of nothing at all, it’s always great to hear some Doc Watson
OH- delurk away! I have no answer your question, and I suspect that no one presently on the thread has an answer either, alas. But, wouldn’t it be great if there was some kind of site (equivalent to Act Blue) where people could enroll to support progressive blogs? Anyway, one way or the other, I do think that the “FDL powers that be” will indeed read your comment. And, you could also send your comment to FDL directly. (Look in the “toolbox” for addys)
Maybe I’m just a weenie, but this is my favorite “Breeze.”
Steve Gaines was a great, great guitarist. One of the best America has produced.
Hey dmac,
I’ve had that browser problem a few times tonight. I go to Digg! the post and try to get back to this site, and get a blank screen. Can’t close it or anything. Have to do control alt delete and so on.
That is great!
Thanks, and added…
Not even too sure about Internet porn. Maybe the Europeans are doing better …
Here ya go LL! ;-)
Love it, thanks, Cale is one of my all time favorite guitar players.
Yup. We haven’t done much of it in a few decades. Maybe its time for the next generation to step up and learn that art.
CT, that’s a good ‘un! Thanks :-)
He never seemed to have gotten the fame or fortune that many who’ve done his songs have…! 8-(
I used to play that raccoon album all the time. I even heard him in person once, I don’t do much of.
I like Sweet Home and Gimme three steps the best…! ;-)
You’ve GOT to be kidding. They’re too busy playing “Guitar Hero” and WOW.
Young people make me sad.
and i have a question that can only be considered by late-nighters–
how are we to consider each other?
how do we consider our differences?
what are we going to take from each other?
and after that is over-
how are we going to treat each other?
what are we going to do together?
like i listed earlier, at 40 and revised 81, listen to the music, what pulls us together?
ideas or conundrum, or conundrum of ideas?
i prefer to think we want the best of ourselves.
i’m going to quote someone without their permisson, cuz i thought what they said, said so much-

If you cave to that sentiment, they have won.
Being you in all it’s manifestations is the best possible. Nothing else will do.

so, let’s be us, without the manifestations of the cancer of angers, let’s be us with all of our ideas and creativity, let’s be us with all of the facets we need to be whole.
let’s be us.
shite, last beer, oh well……..food next, then sleep………….pete townshend taught me all i know.. and my uncle which i talked about in the last post.
eureka, i love you. but you already know that.
Do you remember that old Silvertone guitar of his that looked like a half-built model airplane or something?
Winding down here…will leave you all with one of my fave Nick Drake tunes
Time Has Told Me
Thanks ES, and good night all :-)
dmac, it sounds like you have one of two problems: a lousy browser or not enough memory. Sorry that’s happening. If you want to e-mail me, it’s my nom de ordinateur at earthlink.net. And you don’t need to capitalize the ‘c’ in “cujo359″.
If you don’t have firefox, here’s the link. Of course, it’s going to take a half hour or so to download (five minutes per megabyte being my rule of thumb).
Yes,exactly! It’s very easy to donate to ActBlue. It’s a bitch to donate to FDL.
It’s easy to set up a monthly payment at Bradblog, another vital site.
I tried to donate to FDL just now because I had a panic moment that I hadn’t paid my monthly support payment!
It resulted in my typing in caps like a nutter…….not good.
I like “Breeze” and “T for Texas” because both have a lot of Gaines on them. Gaines was a masterful slide player and had excellent Strat tone as well.
I want to stay up and talk with everyone, but I’m beat. Was babysitting a 14 month old earlier today. It was a blast, but holy crap, that’s exhausting. Good night, all.
He plays here often.. ES has very old Folk Festival. If yo have a way to download this show.. you will thank me forever!
Goodnight, LL and TheOtherWA.
Oh yay, just caught this — thank you again ES! :-)
