Cornstock is a bunch of local bands actually. And its at least half lame most years and fully lame other years. I am told however this year to expect some excitement - which means Deep Purple or some other dinosaur act is getting booked.

Well, in Mattawa, there’s “Voyageur Days” in July, and here in North Bay every August we have “Summer In The Park” (Formerly North Bay Heritage Festival)

Gee, one more Donita note: I’m playing records at a bar for my birthday in June (this is sometimes called deejaying), and was going through the vinyl - came across the Shonen Knife tribute with your cover of “Bags” on it, so had to play it. Loud!

Anyway, the spin I’m in right now was an Autechre show this week that I’m still spinning from…also this week working on a 3 person remix which is spinning. And spinning some Transmiticate after a transmitibreak from the album….nice to come home :>

This sold out at the Philly Film Fest rather quickly so I didn’t get to see it this week.

It’s called Dream of Life and it’s about Patti Smith. I would’ve love to see it and I hope it finds distribution.

Jesse is aces, he’s a great coder and fixed some stuff for me when I did Donita’s site that was driving me crazy. Swell dude.

We just don’t know each other well ;-)…& I’m a little paranoid about communication…Espacially with the people I love…& when it’s not my langauge!!! (Do you noticed english is not my native language? lol!)

We speak the same language of music though so youre easy to understand for me. You do very well for a second language, if I had to try to do this thread in Spanish week after week I might have caused a diplomatic incident by now.

@Donita: Regarding Duffy, I’ve read that a lot of people can’t seem to take her on her own terms. An oft-common sentiment is that ‘well, it sounds like she’s only heard Amy Winehouse’ …. kind of an ignorant thing to say…. I don’t understand the problem, I think Duffy’s definitely got her own thing going on and it rules. Nice to see some endorsement!

I concur. Loves me the Kraftwerk, they demented me at a very young age. My brother Tom had the Autobahn album when it was new in ‘75 and I I used to make him play it for me all the time.

Sweetness! Autobahn was also my first Kraftwerk ‘experience’ and it blew my head off…

BTW fini a bit unrelated to this fdl but a last one; I got a REAL cat 2 weeks ago. He is wonderful and I don’t see how a mechanised thing could replace animals at all….

Oh dear. Our musical taste is different after all on that end.

The mechanical cat thing Donita found was a bit too bizaar for me. I used to have 3 cats and I loved each one very much. No way a machine can be as cool as real cats.
