Just watch, after the November elections, when the democrats take strong control, Lieberman will become irrelevant and sensing that, he will hold some kind of gaudy press conference and formally switch parties. Much of what this schmuck does is for attention. The man has no convictions because he has no soul.

The real problem is Harry Reid. He’s too lenient.

Lieberman knows his only remotely graceful exit from the Senate is if John McDraft wins and gives him a cabinet post or a cushy ambassadorship. Short of that he’s going to have his ass canned from all committees come January 2009 (in spite of what Harry Reid says).

Actually I disagree. I believe Delay DID do a lot of the spraying and such. I think in doing so, he inhaled WAY too many chemicals which goes a long way to explaining how his brain gets so twisted from the norm.

But how do you account for the remainder of the Texas Republican Party?

Well, per wiki, HRC and WJC didn’t even meet until late Spring ‘71 and Short Ride had run as a “reformer” for the State Senate in ‘70, also per wiki. He lost in a Congressional race in ‘80 then won the CT AG in ‘82.

I think they worked on RGJoe’s state senate campaign in 1970 while at Yale law school. Not Attorney General, which came in 1980. But that could be apocryphal.

I can’t speak for dosido but I believe the reference to John Paul I may well have been correct. John Paul II chose the name to honor John Paul I who did appear to be very much of the peace love and understanding and seemed to be in the mold of Pope John (I believe) 23. That’s why he chose the names of John AND Paul, to honor his two immediate predecessors.

He just died way too soon.

You mean John Paul II.

He was a reactionary old man in many ways, but in other ways a great statesman. He was certainly a great Polish statesman and patriot.

He was also an intellectual, as is Ratzinger — another mark in the Catholic Church’s favor. For all their many flaws and obscurantism they’re at the same time a repository of learning and even enlightenment.

The Catholic Church has been an engine of genocide, corruption, totalitarianism and imperialism for almost 2000 years…the damage that Christian religion has done to the history of humanity can not in any way be mitigated by ANY of the individuals in history who have acted in or under the name of Christianity.
