All viable presidential candidates are elitists in the sense that they are in a small group the entrance into which is closed to the rest of us because we don’t have the backing of various power bases. The term, as such, descriptive. It obtains a negative connotation when a person in that group speaks disparagingly of people not in that group. What Obama said about people clinging to religion, guns or anti-immigrant sentiment because of bitterness was amateur psychology at best and disparaging at worst. All candidates make these kind of gaffes. He’s not a saint.

I do have one question: If the people in Pennsylvania cling to religion because of bitternes, why does he cling to religion?

INTERESTING that the first place you go to in your comments about Hillary and McCain’s use of “elitist” when referring to Obama’s remarks is their FINANCIAL WORTH (despite it being one of the FEW times anyone mentions the MILLIONS McCain and wife are worth)…get a dictionary…the word has a wider meaning and the SNOBBERY it connotes has only partially to do with FINANCIAL WORTH!!! But then what else would be expected of our “shoot from the hip” media (MSM and blogs)most of which appears to have taken on the PROTECT OBAMA job for some reason. Yet another election when the electorate has no where to go for actual information that might assist in making the decision as to who would be the best possible choice for president…ah, well, it’s worked so well for the past eight years why not just keep on keeping on…..

Once again you are misstating my position on what you said.

I will try and explain it again.

You said you had not heard any alternative BUT that Clinton was saying McCain would be better than Obama as president. I provided an alternative meaning, which is the meaning her own campaign gave.

You continue to reject it.

To say that the alternative is for her to come out and say Obama would be superior to McCain is fallacious because she was NEVER saying that he would or would not be. This is a CAMPAIGN. She was saying she is better able to compete BASED ON EXPERIENCE against McCain in that area. She was saying that Republicans are going to use this against Obama and that Obama is vulnerable but she is not. You can disagree with her, but THAT is what she was saying.

You say you still see no other way to interpret what she said despite my giving you another way to interpret what she said. That indicates a willful refusal to see another way.

But as I said, Obama’s supporters are going to just stick to what they WANT to believe she meant. That’d be like me insisting that Obama was saying blue collar workers are too stupid to know what’s good for ‘em and he knows better. I don’t believe for one second that is what he was saying, but it’d sure help my candidate, I suppose, if I just insist it is.

Not going to do that. IT’s not what he meant. And what you say is not what she meant. Obama’s supporters are heavily invested in hating Clinton. I think that is unfortunate.

And why shouldn’t either Clinton OR Obama go all out for their nominations? Of course they should.

And there it is again, the Obama hubris of insisting it is Clinton who is destroying the party in this close primary. Groan.

Obama can drop out if that is a concern and hand Hillary the nomination, just as they are asking her to do. I hope he doesn’t. It’s not necessary.

As for the gay marraige thing, Obama said he is against gay marriage but for civil unions. You say you don’t care about that issue. It isn’t the issue, per se, although Democrats were all for gay marriage when Republicans were against it. Now the Obama faction of the Dem party suddenly doesn’t care about that issue??? But the point is, based on his positions on other things, including race, it is hard for me to believe that Obama is actually against gay marriage. Therefore, he is lying, and Obama’s supporters have made a big deal about lying. If he’s against gay marriage for real, then shame on him and he might as well be blwoing hot air when he talks about the need to end racism in this country if he’s for discrimination of another group of people.

NEWS FLASH!!

ENERGY “NEW DEAL” “NEW ECONOMY” “INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY AMERICAN STYLE” BASE ON “A WAR ON ENERGY” NOT “WARS FOR ENERGY”

1) FDR announces new deal plan to generate electricity using solar power to liberate hydrogen from salt water, utilizing newly discovered Kanzius Effect.” Steam driven turbines running electrical generators using hydrogen from salt water as fuel released by the power of the sun using a technique accidentally discovered while John Kanzius finds a cure for cancer!

This reminds me of John Westinghouse and his “breaking system for trains” created after suffering and seeing the horrors of train wrecks from passenger trains could not stop fast enough!!! Still happens today!! trainwrecks?

2) FDR proposes Cellusosic ethanol production from Industrial grade Hemp!

One of the worlds most renewable and usable, low cost to produce agricultural products made illegal in USA because “Black men who smoke marijuana rape white women?.”

We pay farmers not to grow “crops” meanwhile industrial grade hemp is illegal, but it yields more ethanol at lower cost than corn and does not stress the food stock supply? What is America’s malfunction here folks!!!! We are being conned and raped in the process. Instead of spending 11 billion $ a day on gas to compete for jobs we do not have how about lower energy costs. Now we can address health care costs instead of using the tax code like a gun to force citizens to pay costly premiums to “tax exempt health corporations” like Blue Cross BS or Kaiser under mandated Health care! We are being raped……………

With regard to your first point, I don’t know that Obama does believe in gay marriage as opposed to civil union. I don’t care myself, although I certainly believe gay people should be entitled to all of the civil rights straight people are.

I can understand your sense of insult on other blogs. However, that has nothing to do with this site or responses you receive here. My experience was that I tried to explain to you where I parted ways with Hillary Clinton, and still do, and you accused me of dishonest and employing Republican spin. That is essentially the same thing as you were accusing Obama supporters on other blogs.

One more time. My problem with Hillary Clinton is that her statements regarding the fact that she and John McCain were the only ones who had crossed some imaginary commander-in-chief threshold crossed the line. There was no way she could subequently come back and say that Obama had somehow become qualified and was now superior to McCain. I could see no other way to interpret that than a belief that she was willing to go all out for her own nomination, regardless of the potential effects on the party and nation.

If Obama has fewer delegates and fewer popular votes at the time of the convention but it is the belief of the superdelegates that he has a better shot of beating McCain, then they should choose him, as is their right and as are the rules on the Democratic party and Obama supporters will have to accept it and hopefully will do so graciously (since they’re so concerned about the health of the party!).

If they decide that BECAUSE Obama has more delegates and the popular vote and THAT is why he should get the nomination, then that is their right as well and Clinton supporters will have to accept it, and hopefully graciously.

If it is the will of the people that motivates Obama’s supporters, then they should be insisting on revotes in Michigan and Florida, but they are not. THEN it’s NOT about the voters but about the rules.

There’s a lot of irony in this campaign.

And Clinton was not saying McCain would be better than Obama for the presidency. She was saying she is better equipped to challenge McCain BECAUSE of his experience.

But Obama supporters are clinging fast and hard to the more negative interpretation THEY created for what she said (like Repubs did Gore’s Internet comment and Kerry’s Vietnam testimony). More irony, considering Obama’s supporters are claiming, rightly, that Clinton is putting a negative meaning to Obama’s “bitter” comments.

I’m the first to say that what Obama meant is NOT what Clinton is saying. Obama’s supporters, though seem to be unwilling to do the same w/r/t to the McCain comment by Clinton.

You’d think it’d be those concerned with “truth and ethics” who would be more willing to do so.

AS to your first point, I heard Obama say the other day that he is against gay marriage.

Frankly, I don’t believe him (and shame on him if he really is). I sent an email to a gay friend of mine asking him if he knew this about Obama, and he replied that he too doesn’t believe it but that, to become president in this country, that is the public position one HAS to take.

Is that honest or ethical?? No. It’s doing what you have to do to win. I do not fault Obama for that at all. I don’t believe him, so technically I think he’s lying, but I understand it and blame an ignorant electorate for putting him in that position. I do not blame him. What good is he as president if he can’t get there??

As for your second point, it’s Obama supporters who have taken on Republican-like rhetoric and hatred for the Clintons, which I have found very disheartening. As I’ve noted before in here, I finally left the Huffington Post because it has gotten SO vicious and virulent over there where it is 99.9% Obama supporters. Even the Republicans over there never drove me out. You literally could not distinguish it from a right-wing site. I was called a douchebag, asked if I vomit when I look at myself in the mirror, told to hang myself (twice, by two different people), among many, many other horrendous things.

The irony of this, of course, is that Obama’s supporters support him in large part because they believe he’s going to bring change and end all this division and ugliness.

I guess that’ll begin AFTER the primary!

Part and parcel of the plan is to keep people sidetracked with political parties the process, wedge issues and red herrings….. Folks can argue politics all they want. Yet nothing addresses the problem.

11 plus billion$$$ a day we spend just on gasoline? 11 billion $$$ a day!!!! Lower per capita energy costs will benefit America and drilling more oil wells is like enabling a crack addict!!!! WE ARE DUMB!!!!
